I'm giving this restaurant a 4/5 because I visited for a work event. We had about thirty people, and we were given a private room in the back, which was great because it allowed us to mingle without disturbing other customers. Since it was a large party, we had a fixed menu with two steak options or salmon. I chose a medium-rare steak, which was delicious, and all the sides were equally tasty. For dessert, we had a variety of options, and we didn't have any complaints. The only thing that would have been nice is if the server gave recommendations and engaged in conversation with us. However, I think that was lacking due to the large party size. I'm definitely planning to return with a smaller group in the future.

Ok, I am guessing this has been covered in any reviews but we had one of the best experiences celebrating my dad's milestone bday. I booked a private room in advance and there was no extra charge or minimum. Room was awesome, with custom menus, decorations, and made it much easier to carry on a conversation. Service could not have been better, not intrusive but on top of everything with a smile. The bread ? Could have eaten just that, but everything we ordered was perfect, salads (they suggested splitting or half salads which was perfect), meats cooked to perfection, and the complimentary dessert was enough for our party of 5. No wonder this place is an institution!

Tonight was my mom's birthday, and tomorrow is my father's so I gave them a choice of where they wanted to go, they chose to go to Bones! Really excited because I love it here. We started off with the peach mule, and a Manhattan for my dad. Got a bottle of red and we were odd! Michael our server was incredible, professional, friendly and helpful. The entire team here makes everyone feel very special. First out was their house-made bread. Crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. So addictive! Wedge for my dad, I split the bones salad with my mom and it was killer! I didn't think I'd like the Bibb lettuce but it had just enough crunch and incredible flavor. I ended up picking at my dad's wedge at the end, got all of the goodies. All three of us got steaks. Two bone in ribeyes- I had au poivre, one had NY Strip. Our sides were the spinach, mushrooms, and their famous hash browns. I have not seen my parents eat as much as they did tonight. We still had a lot left over, and I want to point out that every steak was nailed, cooked exactly how it was ordered. The au poivre sauce was so good, peppercorn crusted and the demi was super rich. I should've asked for another side to go! They came out with a giant piece of their mountain high pie for dessert, a blue candle for my dad and a pink one for my mom. Special touch. Many thanks to everyone here at Bones. From the valet to the runners, everyone treated us like we were family. I cannot thank them enough for making my mom and dad's birthday dinner so special.

Hard to say anything bad about Bones. The food was solid with reasonably priced cocktails. Bones however stands out with their attention to detail with the service they provide with many on staff having worked there for some time. You can tell how long they've worked there by the number of stars in their uniform with each star representing a five year period. Bones has typical old school steakhouse vibes. Would have preferred to have had more than one dry aged choice (ribeye)

Been here twice, once on a first date a decade ago and again recently. It's a classic steak house that does the classics very well. Excellent Manhattan cocktail. Excellent wedge salad. Excellent New York strip. Excellent mile-high pie. Excellent service. Nothing I don't love about it.

$$$$$ 3/5/25 Every year, my daughter and I have visited Bones the first week of March. It is to celebrate the fact that we made it through another February! Yes, there is a story behind that, but that is for another time and another place. This is year three of having dinner at Bones, and to our delight it was just as fabulous as a previous two years. As always, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is genuine and warm. I might have mentioned this before, but for the ladies... The bathrooms are clean, private, and just worth a visit! Our server did not hurry us through dinner, and he, and all who watched over us, were very attentive. We were there for well over an hour, but never felt like they wanted us to leave. There is a bar in the front area of bones, where you can catch a drink before your table is ready... as well as some seating with comfortable chairs and high tables for sipping on your drink. The food is incredible, and I always end up taking something home. And, save room for dessert... they are off the charts! Enjoy your evening, travel safely, and make great memories!

In the men's room. Not sure what the bulldog is about to get from the schnauzer but Bones is supportive.

Bones always treats us great! Service is top notch, though I don't consistently have a server here. Steaks are excellent as you'd expect with amazing cuts, but the bone in fillet is my go to. You have to get the onion rings and foie gras as well. Lastly, be sure to come for someone's birthday so you can get their amazing ice cream cake.

Great ambiance and food options. Sat at the bar with my date for the evening and it was an exceptional experience. Bones is unlike any other steak house in the metro area. The service is personal and business influenced. Drinks, Food Options, desserts and appetizers are in constant rotation from one end of the bar to the other. All options are favorable. Be advised some menu items may be sold out due to popular demand. Ordered the bone in 20oz rib eye. It was remarkable. Had two dirty martinis with extra olives. Everything was very good. If you have not experienced this restaurant my question is what are you waiting for?

Been here a few times over the years & it's my Atlanta favorite. Everything you'd want in a classic old school feel steakhouse. Whether dining at a table or the bar, the service is spectacular. Food and drink is second to none. Their staff work really hard to give you a great experience. If something isn't right, just politely let them know & they'll happily take care of it.

The Wagyu Strip! Splurge for it if you can. Buttery deliciousness.

Bones is an Atlanta institution. Ask a local what the best steak place is in town, and there is a very good chance they will say Bones or Chops. I like them both, but if I had to pick, Chops gets the nod for the flash fried lobster tail. Parking is valet only. Not unusual for a premium place in Buckhead. It's free so you just need to tip the valet. I've been a handful of times. I've sat at the bar and the dining room. The ambiance is "classic oak wood steak house." Lots of pictures of celebrities that have eaten there. They also have some other neat to look at decor. The last time I went, I splurged for the Wagyu Strip and it didn't fail. The hash browns are the highlight of the sides. If you live in Atlanta and haven't been to Bone's you should splurge on a special occasion if you can. It's going to be $100 per person plus, but that's normal for a premium steak house. I don't know where it ranks on my all time steak places, but it is up there especially if you get the Wagyu Strip. Bones has been around and highly regarded for a reason. Give it a go!

What is the dress code here? Can you dress formally? Looking for a special occasion

You can definitely dress formally! My husband and I go for date nights and like to dress up. It's a very formal place with wonderful service.

Looking for a restaurant that my boyfriend and I can go to for a special occasion. We want to be able to dress a little more formal and wonder would it be appropriate here?

Yes! Bone's is definitely a place you can dress formally and fit right in. You'll feel like royalty once you experience their service.

Definitely a place to be seen and eat well. There's a parking garage but it was full when we got there, so we did valet, which was surprisingly affordable. Service was wonderful. Our server was attentive, helpful, and super knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food, we got: Aguachile de Pescado, which was insane. Super fresh, bright, citrusy, ceviche-like with perfect texture. I would go back just for that. The Hamachi was clean and bright. That avocado sauce tied everything together and gave it some depth without overpowering the fish. The Pork Belly Tostadas were crispy and rich with that smooth avocado mousse and sweet mango salsa balancing it out perfectly. Finally, the bone marrow with steak... so good. I had seen pictures of it before I came and it did not disappoint. The steak was incredibly tender. They bring blue corn tortillas and suggest making a taco with the marrow, steak, and avocado. It's great that way. But honestly, the marrow and steak stand perfectly on their own. Whole experience was excellent. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city now.

We had someone in our party with a gluten allergy, and our sweet server was doing his absolute best, bless. We were steered away from the tostadas as a starter due to gluten concerns, so we pivoted to guac...which then arrived with a gluten-free tostada. So the tostadas would have been totally fine! Then a good while after we'd all ordered, she was told her entrée had gluten and needed to be changed. She reordered, and almost immediately, the rest of the table's food came out. So we were left choosing between eating without her or letting everything go cold. And the plantains she'd reordered around, because she'd been told they couldn't be made gluten-free? Turns out they absolutely can be. Just miss after miss there. The spicy margarita was more of a margarita that once passed a jalapeño on the street. I asked for extra jalapeño juice and they were happy to help, but without the seeds and ribs it just couldn't deliver on the heat. I'd skip the margs next visit. This just wasn't quite the relaxed easy dinner we'd hoped for, and the price point feels like it's a step ahead of where the experience currently lands. But I'm rooting for them to get there!

It did not disappoint - in fact, it exceeded my expectations. First of all, Ken was an excellent server. He was paced, attentive, informative, and communicative throughout our experience. We were also celebrating our anniversary, and he and the staff made sure to make the occasion memorable (won't give away to keep it special for you). The food was amazing from beginning to end. First, the bread service was prompt, warm, soft, and served with ricotta. Next, the Ceasar salad was made next to where we sat - and to see them mixing the salads so meticulously down to mixing the dressing from scratch was one of the most amazing dining experiences I've had. I love a good Ceasar - and this was amongst the best. We also ordered the Oysters Marcel - and they were so fresh and bright. For our main course, my wife ordered the bone-in filet. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare - medium). I enjoyed redfish topped with Jump Lump Crab Oscar sauce (with crabs). Both proteins were amazing, but I was surprised by how perfectly cooked the fish was. Delectable. For sides, we enjoyed Cream Corn Gratin and Pommes Frites Béarnaise . Both were complementary of the proteins. The dessert was a 10-Layer Chocolate Cake. It was sooo good. Sweet but not too sweet. Good as it looks. Lastly, the ambiance was amazing. It was like stepping into a portal into a different space in time - almost made you forget we were in Atlanta. It's a bit dark inside - but a well lit darkness - just like I like it. Easy to see the entire space but also feel unseen (even though you are). Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone - although we made a pact to not take anyone from our circle. We want to keep this one for us. But hopefully this write up encourages a stranger to enjoy Marcel. Merci

A moody, retro, classic world where…read morebowties are worn unironically in a setting that could best be described as a boxing gym renovated with industrial touches to become a steakhouse in the 1940s. That world could be anywhere. It could even be in Midtown West Atlanta. Service was impeccable. Servers knew we were celebrating our anniversary and were attentive and helpful when making tough menu choices. Pacing was definitely geared toward fine dining. 40 minutes between starters and entree was a BIT long, but it went by. Steak was wonderful (a porterhouse for 2), cooked to a perfect medium rare with seasoning appropriately calibrated to not overpower. East and west coast oysters were fresh and the Marcel salad to start was underdressed and lacked flavor (I enjoyed how they plopped a mound of bleu cheese on top to mix in; I pushed this aside which my server and I laughed about. He said he'd do the same. Maybe it's a sign). Hot bread service with a spreadable cheese and prosciutto was a nice touch. The French fries are probably the best I've ever had, and the asparagus was asparagus (slightly undersalted if anything). Chocolate cake was impressive in presentation but unremarkable for flavor and consistency. My wife enjoyed her decaf coffee as the best she's had at a restaurant, but her cocktail left something to be desired and was extremely tart. A Mexican coke was perfect enough for me. The pricing here is exorbitant. The price tag isn't necessarily a problem given the caliber of dining experience and ambiance that Marcel provides, but given some of the misses on staple items (namesake salad, "famous" chocolate cake), I'm not sure that value for dollar spent is present. In transparency, our dinner comprised of the above was over $400 with tip, which was aligned with expectations walking in the door. Whether the food stood up to the actual place and pricing is a debate. I lean toward an answer of "almost, but close enough not to be insulted." If a gun was pointed at my head to pick the "best steakhouse" in Atlanta, I'd pick Bones without thinking twice. This place is a close second probably, but places like Nowaks in Sandy Springs, while not the same echelon of formality, might have Marcel beat on flavor and definitely have Marcel beat on value for the dollar. Is Marcel's concept valid and well executed? Yes, without question. Would I want somebody else to pay if I returned? Yes, without question. 4.3/5 stars

I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.
