Crab Cakes

New York Prime is a longstanding steakhouse in the Atlanta area and continues to hold its own. We visited Valentine's Day weekend, and as expected, it was packed. We did have to wait about 30-40 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, but given the holiday rush, that was pretty much par for the course. To start, we ordered red wine and a Hugo spritz, along with the Caesar salad, shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, and crab cakes. The standout for me was definitely the crab cakes, mostly lump crab meat, just as they should be. For dessert, I received a birthday treat: a warm cookie with a scoop of ice cream, plus chocolate-covered strawberries in honor of Valentine's Day. A very nice touch. Despite the holiday crowds and slight seating delay, New York Prime remains a solid choice in the Buckhead area for a classic steakhouse experience.

Spent our wedding anniversary here. First off, I wish they had a New York Prime in Houston. Food was 10/10 and very filling. The crab cakes weren't too soft , the creamed spinach was flavorful , and the fettuccine paired well with our entrees. Waiter was kind and friendly and the restaurant was clean. I would say they didn't have bread options for a peanut allergy person , but the food made up for that. Overall, a good experience

I'm really sad I didn't take more pictures because this restaurant deserved them. This was easily a top 5 steakhouse that I have ever experienced. Now I will note the ambience will not "blow you away," but the food and service is every bit and more what you expect from a fine dining restaurant. I went with the 8oz filet which was perfectly cooked medium well. Our sides included creamed spinach and fettuccine Alfredo, the layer of which we were amazed and glad we could get that as a side it fulfilled our desire to have steak and pasta. They also have a good caesar salad and a variety of tasty house bread for the table. I hope they expand to Texas and open up a location in Houston or Dallas. I can't wait to come back again.

Spectacular! Right away, the service was incomparable to anything else I've ever seen. The entire staff made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in the door. We have been wanting to go here for quite some time, and I can promise you it was worth the wait. Collectively, we had an aged ribeye, the Sea bass, the garlic chicken, and sides of spinach, mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, crabcakes, and butter cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. Inside the restaurant, it's very dark with candlelight and low lights. Very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. We were celebrating some big things, and they gave us a complementary giant cookie and a huge scoop of ice cream as well. That was much appreciated.

I don't know who the chef was last night but this has been the best dinner we've had in a while. We alwayssss have to start off with the seafood bisque whoever invented this bisque is a genius. It soooooo good that I just want to eat it all in one sitting. It's creamy thick and full of seafood so if can be very filling. I have tried this sea bass sooo many times but last night something was different it was so buttery flaky and the crunchy garlic on top was the cherry on top. I got a side of broccolini which is always great full of garlic but it does have a little spice kick to it for me it was great. Hubby got the ribeye which was very flavorful and tender. Defiantly was a great dinner.

Haven't been here in years and decided to come for date night with my husband. Making reservations was easy and being seated was fast. Service was personable and our night went smooth with helpful recommendations. We started with seafood bisque that was to die for and had the porterhouse for two and omg it was cooked to perfection. New York Prime was the perfect setting for date night

My hubby and I were in town for a Hawks game. He loves a good steakhouse and this was within walking distance of our hotel. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated immediately. Our server was a young man who was a college student and he was extremely helpful with questions about the menu. The restaurant was very intimate and great for couples. Our food arrived and it looked amazing. And fortunately, it tasted even better than it looked. We started with the crab cakes and OMG....the mustard sauce made the dish! I had the sea bass which was delicious and the best I've had! My hubby had the bone in filet and he loved it. We're definitely going to add this to our list of go-to spots!

Beautiful and classy restaurant. Impeccable service. Delicious food from the appetizers to the dessert. Superb wine and drink selections. Wonderful way to celebrate or anniversary. The attention to detail made dining here well worth the visit. We will return!

Stopped by for dinner and a cocktail. Cliff is an excellent bartender and provided great food reccomendations. I had the grilled oysters, grilled shrimp and alfredo. It was all really good but they oysters were my favorite. Looking forward to coming back and trying more items.

The ambience was decent dim lighting with candles and several TVs throughout the space. The hostess did an excellent job confirming my reservation and accommodating an additional seat when we arrived with an extra guest. When our entrées arrived, we realized there were no forks on the table, and our server had already stepped away. As we attempted to get another waiter's attention, he deliberately ignored us multiple times, presumably because we were not his table. After several attempts, he finally came over and provided the utensils so we could eat our food before it became cold. The interaction was uncomfortable; while I understand we were not his assigned guests, ignoring a customer for that reason is unacceptable especially when the request was as simple as providing utensils. The food itself wasn't as hot as expected, but it was still enjoyable. Our tomahawk ribeye was cooked to the perfect temperature, and the drinks and desserts were delicious. Our server overall did a good job

I enjoyed a romantic birthday meal here and the service and ambiance was wonderful. Pros: the crab cake was good- no filler. I am originally from DC so it's hard for me to find good seafood in GA. The steaks were good. I had the center cut filet and my partner had the NY strip. Con's: I do think their style of preparation is probably best for steaks with more fat. I ordered the filet and it was a little dry and unevenly cooked. As you can see in the picture one side of it is well done and I ordered it medium. The garlic spinach side was also ok. A little underwhelming. Overall, Its a good choice and enjoyable meal.

I love everything here! It's def one of my favorite restaurants yet it's not as much of a scene. Best crab cakes you'll find in atl. Great sides... better than other nearby steakhouses! Amazing filet also. They do under estimate temp so round up! Get the famous chocolate cake or butter cake for dessert.

This place has some of the best food I've ever had. When I travel to Atlanta this is on the list for sure, maybe even a few times. Service is always great, the crowd depends on time and day but I've never had a bad experience here.

From what street or side of the building do you enter for parking and how much is it?

Hi Merbril, We offer complimentary valet parking and / or self parking validation. We're just off of Peachtree Rd on the Lenox Road upper ramp between Phipps Plaza and The Whitley hotel. Waze is a great option for directions.

Does this restaurant have outdoor seating?

Yes they do have outdoor seating at New York Prime

Ties for gentlemen?

Mike- I haven't seen a lot of ties at NYP; that being said: you'll fit right in with sharp casual and no tie just as well as in a designer suit with all the trappings, including that tie!

Intimate, warmly lit, and thoughtfully designed, it invites you to settle in. The presence of books, the scale of the room, the soft energy all creates an atmosphere that feels cultivated. What stands out most is the curation. The wine list is exceptional without being overwhelming, and the option for half pours makes it especially enjoyable for a slower, more exploratory evening. It's clear that every selection has been chosen with care and a point of view. The food follows suit--refined, seasonal, and quietly confident. Nothing is overdone, yet everything feels considered and well-executed. It complements the experience rather than competing for attention. Service is knowledgeable, passionate and attentive. My waiter was incredibly knowledgebale and offered the perfect suggestions. Then, when I was ready to try a drink, the bartender noticed, came over, and suggested a half pour of champagne with the omelette I ordered. Lucian doesn't try to be everything. It knows exactly what it is and executes it at a very high level. It's a place to linger, to read, to have a glass of wine that turns into two. An experience that feels both personal and elevated.

We started with the polenta appetizer, silky and warming, the kind of simple dish that becomes memorable when it's done with real finesse. The black grouper followed as the star -- perfectly cooked, delicate, and rich without ever feeling heavy. Paired with the seasonal salad, bright and crisp, it created a beautiful balance of depth and freshness. The 2021 Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain was a standout. Smooth, structured, and aromatic, it elevated every dish without overpowering them -- one of those bottles you immediately want to remember. Dessert was the lemon tart, light, fragrant, and absolutely divine. A perfect finish. And because it's Lucian, we didn't leave without wandering the shelves -- and ended up purchasing The Silk Roads by Anna Ansari, the perfect companion to an already thoughtful evening. A refined, welcoming space that feeds you in every sense. We'd return without hesitation.

Unfortunately, not a place we'd return to. Came here for the first time on a Saturday at 6pm with my husband, and surprisingly, we were the only people in the restaurant until about the time we left. Service: 1 star There was plenty of staff, so it was confusing how things still felt so off. Drinks were wrong (I ordered prosecco and was brought white wine), and overall attentiveness just wasn't there. Another disappointment was at the end - my husband paid while I was in the restroom, and when I checked the receipt, I noticed I'd been charged $3 more for the wine. I calmly pointed it out, not even asking for a refund, just to flag it, and the waitress argued with me about it instead of simply acknowledging the mistake. Not a great way to end the night. Drinks: My prosecco mix-up aside, the drinks were just okay. My husband's gin & tonic was fine, but noticeably better ones can be found nearby. (Like our night cap at Yeppa after) Apps: 2 stars * shishito peppers were soggy and overly fried * Caesar salad was heavily dressed and tasted like something you'd get at a diner Entrees: 4 stars * chicken was excellent - well cooked & flavorful. Slaw on the side was a bit random * trout was slightly salty but still very good and cooked perfectly. Skin perfectly crispy & enjoyed the grilled green onion on top. I substituted grilled veggies for the slaw (due to dairy)

Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating, but they did forget my friend's birthday celebration details. We got the salmon and the steak frites. Both were pretty good. The smoke Gouda Mac and cheese was just okay - it was like warm and didn't have that strong bite a good Mac and Cheese should have. The menu seems on the smaller side, but there are a couple of solid options to choose from. I do believe it's kind of overpriced for the portion sizes you receive. I would dine here again, but it'd have to be a very special event.
