Celebrating 25 Years at One of Our Favorite Steakhouses!…read more Last night was a very special night for my wife and me -- we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, and we decided to spend it at one of our favorite steakhouses, Firebirds. We arrived a little early to beat the dinner crowd, and just as I suspected, the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were seated immediately, and to our surprise, our waitress was Nigh (I hope I'm spelling that correctly!). She has waited on us before, and we were so happy to see her again. She is honestly one of the sweetest servers you could ask for -- friendly, super polite, attentive, and just an all-around great waitress. Since we arrived early, we were able to take advantage of their early dinner special, which offers eight different entrées to choose from. I went with the Asiago Creamy Spicy Pasta, which came with chicken, diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, and penne pasta. I also started with a BLT salad, which was delicious. And, of course, Firebirds brings fresh bread to the table, which is always a nice bonus. My wife chose the meatloaf with mushroom gravy, served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We both agreed -- the meals were absolutely delicious! And because we were celebrating, we couldn't leave without ordering one of our absolute favorites: Big Daddy Chocolate Cake! How do I describe this cake? Imagine the most decadent, rich, chocolatey dessert you've ever had... now multiply that by 10. That's probably getting close to describing how good this cake is! It is seriously that delicious. Once again, Firebirds delivered exactly what we've come to expect: great food, great service, and a wonderful experience. Most importantly, they helped make our 25th wedding anniversary a little more special, and we truly appreciate that. Thanks, Firebirds, for another fantastic meal and another great memory. We'll definitely be back!

I prefer the meat as you can get it at any temperature whereas with seafood I don't think you can control how they cook that. I prefer meats to be medium well. Tiny, carryout only, though there are a couple of tables to sit while you wait or maybe to eat a quick lunch. Super friendly staff. Fairly short menu; all the good stuff. I wasn't famished and didn't want to wait for chicken or fish, so I got an assortment of sides thinking that would be quicker. They fried up the okra right then, though, and had a steady stream of pickup orders coming through the door, so it still took 10-15 minutes. It was okay, though, smelling the amazing scents coming from the kitchen, talking to the staff and customers. I hadn't noticed they have ribs (just a picture, not on the menu) so I might've ordered those. Oh well. $20 I think, or they do combos with sides or fish and sides. Anyway. I got fried okra, and it was a big portion and absolutely amazing. No need for any sauces, tasty on its own. Perfectly crisp. Baked beans: my style, sauce so thick you can eat them with a fork. Slightly sweet, mostly savory, very good. Greens (collards) with turkey: outstanding. Tender but not floppy, nicely seasoned. Cornbread: soft, sweet, crumbly, topped with butter. Yum. Geechee rice: seasoned, bacon and sausage, very good. And black-eyed pea salad. I like black-eyed peas but had never had them in a salad. These were great: plump, with bits of tomato and cucumber and onion, in a vinegary dressing. Again, yum. Enough food for two meals. They gave me the side plate special, three sides and cornbread, which helped with the price. I was headed home and not thirsty so I didn't get a drink, but based on conversations with other customers I missed out on the lemonade and sweet tea. I'll be back for those and maybe a rib-fish combo. And to try the mac. Get here if you can!

Baked beans, cornbread, Geechee rice, fried okra, collards, black-eyed pea salad. Yum.

Lobster stuffed shrimp appetizer special was aaaamazing. My favorite part of that dish was the amount of stuffing, I could have ate that all by itself. I had the spicy tuna bowl with jalapeño for under $13. I didn't love the sweet & sour sauce that came with it because it was a little sour for my taste but tasted good with the dish. The tuna wasn't seared but it was covered with black & white sesame seeds on the outside. I really liked how much avocado was in the bowl. It was very fresh. I also tried a bite of the burger with bacon. The patty was huge! I tried the side of crab rice that tasted like authentic fried rice you'd get at a Thai restaurant. I also tried the au gratin potato side dish that had potatoes in chunks rather than slices, a very welcome change. It was cheesy and yummy as well. For dessert I tried the coconut pie. It was sweet and creamy with a delicious crust. The ambiance has a calm mood with low lights & waiters dressed in fancy chef jackets. There is also a faint smell of the ocean. As there is with all quality seafood restaurants. All in all, very impressed with Bonefish Grill. Will be returning. read more

I've visited Bonefish Grill locations across the country and keep coming back. Each location is very consistent with the next. To me that is important! Here are some of the highlights for someone who has never been to a Bonefish Grill - They're known for their Bang Bang Shrimp. It comes out insanely quick. If you're not a person who has a palate for spicy foods; I would recommend you to give it a try. My thing with this location is I always have to ask for the bread. I was in the evening of Monday, January 20th & had to ask the bartender twice for bread then finally received it DURING our meal. I was pretty irritated over that because my wife loves their bread and dipping seasoning. So they got me in bad with the wife a little bit over that one. I wanted to take her out and make her happy. I've never regretted trying something new. It always comes out delicious and tastes fresh. read more

Bonefish Grill on Polaris Parkway has always been one of our favorites, but the quality of the food has gone down lately. In fact, the last two times we've eaten there have been disappointing. We tried again yesterday and my wife's cod tasted like it had been frozen for way too long. The texture was so rubbery that she only ate half, fearing it would make her ill. My trout had an overwhelming fishy taste, which trout doesn't normally have. The green beans were undercooked, practically raw. I also didn't finish my meal for fear of getting sick. The restaurant is always clean, and the service is always great. However, there are some serious issues with the kitchen and quality of the food. It's a shame. We used to look forward to dining at Bonefish Grill, but after two bad experiences, we just can't risk eating there anymore. read more

Our children adore him. He is knowledgeable and keeps up with our thirsty little spawns. Please give our regards to Freddy, the kitchen chef and the management team there. The first thing you need to know is that the Columbus Fish Market is NOT a fish market. It is an upper middle class seafood restaurant. It has all the trappings of a country club restaurant which is to say, comfort reigns here at a slightly elevated price. I can't really complain, our server was sweet and attentive. The manager checked on us. The food was tasty, the drinks were very good. I don't know it was just... nothing special. Let's put it this way, a few weeks ago I was in Ocean City, MD and we stopped at a crab shack where they put paper on the table and we ate like Neanderthals who just discovered that crabs were edible. We made the kind of mess that only long married couples with kids can make. Crab shells and shrimp tails were flying. That meal lives rent free in my brain. Damn it was good, but I digress. See there are places you take family, and places you take a first date. The crab shack is for family, The Columbus Fish Market (still not a fish market) is where you take a first date assuming she is not allergic to seafood. The ambiance just lacks character and charm in an inoffensive way. As Shakespeare once wrote, "nothing is either good nor bad, but thinking makes it so" and I am not sure even thinking can move the needle on this place. Did I mention it is not a fish market? Ok, ok, the food. Yes, I got the Cajun swordfish and a little gem side salad. That followed the spicy crispy shrimp appetizer. All were very good. I recommend the shrimp if you end up here. The Cajun swordfish was well seasoned and only ever-so-slightly overdone. It was good, to be sure but a minute too far. The sear was great though, crisp and flavorful. The little gem salad was a great compliment to the main. I love a good salad. I also tried my daughter's Caesar salad and my wife's tomato, bacon, Bibb wedge salad. Skip the Caesar and get one of the others, especially if you like a good Caesar. Overall the food was very good and I should probably give this place four stars. I dont know, I'm feeling salty. Drinks, drinks, drinks. My daughter recommends the berry lemon drop. I got a Sam Adams which was one of four or five bees on tap. Four or five. The wine list was extensive so do with that what you will. Pretty good for (not a) fish market. Finally, finally, finally. What the hell is the name of this place?
