Party of 7 went on a Friday night at 6. I would say the dress code is a tad more than casual but I did see others in casual clothing. The atmosphere and seating is very relaxing and comfortable, the soft lighting was a nice touch. Our servers were mostly really attentive. The food was really very good except for mine (chicken), I would say. We got two appetizers which were both delicious as well. Celebrated our 57th anniversary tonight with our grown children.we asked for a quiet corner so we could share fun times in some privacy. It was great just having siblings and leaving all the grandkids for another time. Our server was excellent and has also tended the bar so could answers questions re our drink orders also. My daughters raved about the key lime pie martini, but I found it too sweet and preferred my husbands pineapple rum martini that was more complex. The margaritas, kettle one and cranberry and the Smokey whiskey were all delish too. We ordered 3 filets with scallops and shrimp. - all cooked perfectly but I would have preferred a thicker sauce on top. The three crusted rainbow trout were their usual favorites and perfect. Two others had glazed shrimp with garlic potatoes, For the table the cauliflower and the Brussels sprouts were a hit. I've said it over and over again. Bonefish is my favorite local chain restaurant. Like so many of us, I'm not originally from here. And I am from a city that has many fine restaurants. When I discovered Bonefish, I was immediately hooked. Very good food, very good value(sometimes great) and good service. The problem with chains is the variances, in my opinion. You can visit the St. Pete location with a companion and have such a good time that you can't wait to go back. Then bring friends from up north to a location in Orlando while they're visiting and enjoy it because of their experience. Boom! Higher expectations on each visit. This visit unfortunately was an exception. I wasn't planning to dine there on this particular day but I had a choice. Drive across town to get home, cook, eat then rush back out to meet a friend for happy hour, or I could stop at one of my favorite spots, start happy hour a little earlier and enjoy a good meal. I chose the latter. When I arrived there weren't too many people there. I almost sat at the bar, but instead chose a table where I could see the televisions. I was dining alone. I was quickly seated, stepped away to wash up a bit, sat down and placed my mask on the table. It may have been my first visit to this location, definitely my first recent visit. My first impression of the staff was good, friendly, polite and somewhat attentive. This trend didn't continue though, at least not consistently. My server was a nice, bubbly young lady. After mulling over the menu, I ordered. I decided to have a steak even though if recently had steak at two higher end restaurants. I was conscious of this and my expectations were tempered. I enjoyed the bread as well as what I'd consider Bonefish's signature appetizer, the bang bang shrimp. I mean you can't go to Bonefish and not have the bang bang shrimp, right? I ordered them even though I had no one to share with. I also had a cocktail. It was a little sweeter than I'd prefer but good nonetheless. And the entree, steak with rice and broccoli and crab cake. The entire meal was good, except the steak. It was overcooked and very, very dry. I didn't even finish half. My server who'd started off attentive seemed to go into a different routine. I think she knew the couple at the neighboring table. Maybe they were relatives but it seemed like more. Maybe they were related. She spent a lot of time with them. So much I was surprised she didn't sit down. Then she'd rush away seemingly trying to get back to other patrons. She did ask about my drink, and initially did not notice I had barely touched my steak. I told her I didn't want a second drink and began to mention the issue with my steak but she rushed away. The service very quickly seemed to dip. Sun par. Very disappointing. Let me wrap the experience up. Eventually my server passed by again. This time she noticed the mostly untouched, tough piece of meat on my plate. I then told her what was what. She offered to replace it but after having bread and the entire app on myself, and a little disappointment for dessert, I no longer had an appetite. Things had also picked up in the restaurant. It was getting a lot busier than when I arrived. I was ready to leave. A manager passed by, perhaps randomly but I think my server may have brought the issue to her attention. She squeezed between the tables and got very close to me. I was uncomfortable. I've been keeping a safer distance from others for the past years, when possible. She also offered to replace my steak. I told her that I didn't have an appetite for more food and that I was ready to leave. Eventually my entree was refunded. I didn't ask for that, but it was a nice gesture. It didn't take away from the overall disappointing experience though. Admittedly this was a rare disappointing experience at Bonefish. I'm certain I will be back but perhaps not at this location. One of the best restaurants in Tampa Bay specializing in seafood, but still offering something for everyone in a very upscale atmosphere without the "sticker shock". We chose to have our early dinner at lunchtime to avoid traffic congestion and were surprised to learn that the menu was the same for lunch and dinner, offering more options than are usually available at other restaurants for lunch. This makes it more desirable for diners who want a special occassion meal during the day. I was very impressed with my choice of the wood-fired Mahi-Mahi with jumbo shrimp. Some sauces were available, including the mango, which was excellent. Several sides were included with the meal, including a vegetable, salad or coleslaw. We owned the outdoor patio section and well. we weren't even mad because the breezes were so nice outside. Although the mussels were good in a lemon garlic sauce, 717 South prob. Has our heart with the most succulent ones! The Mahi Mahi and Shrimp was good - they even split it for us. I got the Asian sauce and hubs got Chimichurri - Asian tasted like cocktail sauce/ketchup w/soy - something along those lines and a nice change from my usual Mango Salsa sauce that I order. The broccoli included butter and seasonings& garlic mashed potatoes - no fancy sides, just good ole homemade ingredients and from scratch. This was my first time at this location which had its up-and-downside. I went there with my mom and husband around 6pm. I would say that the host/hostess were very polite and greeted us when we walked in. We were seated right away at one of their corner booth. The room was slightly lighten which gave it a very intimate vibe. I have to say that it was well decorated. As an appetizer, we ordered the "Bang Bang Shrimp" which was different from the last location that I've been too. It was less breaded which to me is a downside and spicier which was a plus. The server was really nice and was able to accomodate us when it comes to changing certain things on the menu. However, I was very disappointed when my mom's "Mahi mahi and shrimp" came in. The fish did not have any flavor at all; it was as if someone ran it under water to take out all its flavor and season before serving it. I made my mom order this one because I've ordered it before at another location and it was really good, but not this one. If you go at that location and you like your food flavorfull, I would NOT recommend the Mahi mahi and shimp. But thank you for the server and host/hostess that have made our experience worth it. Friend and I went to lunch here yesterday and was surprised they no longer automatically provide bread service unless you ask for it. We arrived at approximately 11:30 and were seated right away, found it so odd that there was only like 3 other tables of people in the entire restaurant the whole time we were there. Bang Bang Shrimp Appetizer- As always this was amazing.....so delicious and nothing to complain about. Sauce is the perfect balance and my favorite thing at Bonefish. Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos x 3- friends choice which looked delicious and he said they were really good and full of shrimp. As a side he got the au gratin potatoes which are usually delicious but these looked undercooked and not appealing. Angler's Catch- this was my choice and it was very delicious. This is available only on Friday's for a limited time through 4/19/19. It was a fried combination of cod, George's Bank Scallops, shrimp and fries....all was delicious except the fries....wish I would have traded for whipped potatoes instead as the French fries were not good at all. It also came with a small side of Cole slaw that I did not eat but friend tried some and he said it was good and had an Asian flair. What a disappointment this was. Daughter visiting from California and we chose here for her birthday dinner. Let me start with the good. Bang Bang shrimp always a hit. we all felt there was just too much sauce on it however and it would be outstanding with half as much. My glass of Chardonnay was very good. Service was excellent. No complaints about it at all. We've always had excellent service here. I went with one of their specials as my entree. Don't remember the full name but it was Butterfish. The menu said it was Black Cod (Never heard of that) and that it has been compared to sea bass. It came with creamed spinach and lump crab on top of the fish, so it said. It also came with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Cost $30. It was horrible. Fish was mushy (Cod & Sea Bass are firm and flaky) There was a very odd flavor I couldn't pinpoint, but I did not like it. Still don't know what happened to the lump crab because all I saw was a few little sprinklings of shredded crab. I couldn't eat it. I really should have sent it back, but I didn't, my mistake. Didn't taste any garlic in the very thick and heavy potatoes, but I ate them because I was hungry. Why is the vegetable always broccoli? Ugh! I definitely would not recommend this dish as it was nothing like the menu stated and definitely overpriced for what you got. I called and ordered takeout 45 minutes before closing and it tasted as though it was their first meal of the day. The mahi mahi was cooked to perfection and the lemon butter sauce, perfectly balanced. The jasmine rice wasn't sticky or dry at all, and so tasty... and the broccoli-how do they get it the perfect texture, between tender and crunchy-and with so much flavor? I just can't say enough! I ordered some macaroni on the side and planned to eat it tomorrow but it looked so good, I dug right in. Oh man! Hands down the best macaroni I've had in a restaurant-and all that bacon on it, to boot! I'd order a whole vat of that! I also ordered salad-which will have to wait till tomorrow-I'm stuffed! I was surprised to see the 3.5 star rating for the Bonefish Grill in Brandon. We had an exceptional meal there Saturday night. Briana was an outstanding server, really top notch. I had the mahi shrimp dinner, my wife had the cod. both were around $23. Briana recommend the mahi blackened and included an amazing sauce. Great portions. I added a Caesar salad and upgrade to the bacon Mac and cheese. Both were a great as well. The restaurant itself is very classy and well decorated. We have come to Bonefish a few times this year. Each time convincing ourselves we need to give it another try. Well, we have and it is consistent, but not in a good way. The fish is consistently dry or overcooked. The prices are not worth it for chain food that is subpar. The lighting is terrible and makes it difficult for my son to even color on the coloring activity they provide. One thing we do enjoy is the steamed spinach. They always make that well, but this place is supposed to be a fish place not a spinach one. Can we eat the food? Sure. Have we had better? Yep! Will we be back? Oh, and don't EVER ORDER the TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE as one of your two SIDES!!! It is so gross and too heavy on the Truffle oil! Blech!! I feel I must lower my rating for this failing chain to an average 3*. They don't even have Oysters Rockefeller anymore, but it still says so on their Yelp!!! IT tech needs to fix this!! They claim they no longer make Oysters Rockefeller because they prefer to have fresh seafood, and that item doesn't move fast enough to stay fresh. Really? Fresh and high quality fish and shellfish is definitely Bonefish Grill's forte'. The vibe here is quiet and understated, relaxed and cool, a place you should indeed linger. Customer service is top notch of course. The restaurant chain also operates Carraba's Italian, Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Outback Steakhouse, and Roy's. From Bone Fish Grill's wood-Fired grill in the kitchen, came delicious mussels, and though they are some of the best, they were missing that delicious crostini, with garlic olive oil, and Parmesan cheese melted on a pillowy but crisp bread to sop up that delectable broth. It's some of the best I've had. But there was no bread and I really love mussels. Yummy! Their Tilapia is also delicious. I had it blackened, which was nicely done with just the right char, tender and juicy. Delicious. I squeezed a little lemon on it and it had just that tad better nuance. They have a wide selection but I've only been here a few times. And would definitely come back. We had no problems with ordering, picking up, and eating delicious food that's worth the money. Now the issue is we sang Birthday to our our friends at the table and The manager Nikki was very unprofessional to our group by providing feedback on regardless to singing. Now it's under stable to come and tell guests to keep it down or something along those lines however their is a way to offer customer service and speak to people. We came to this location for brunch after a failed attempted at another place. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Their brunch menu is great and affordable. If you order an entree you can get unlimited champagne, mimosas, sangria, or Bellini. You can mix and match if you want. Our waiter said he just keeps them flowing and he sure did!! I tried all of the drinks but sangria was my favorite. I also appreciated the fact that the drinks had an appropriate amount of alcohol to juice ratio. It was so cold we ask the server if she could turn up the air, she informed us if she made it warmer the floor would be slippery. Ask for a manager and she would but didn't. Good food, good drinks and great staff. I love seeing the chefs out of the kitchen when it's not packed, they look so great in the white coats. I wish the menu was bigger but that's just because I love the food. read more
