BondST has been on my list for a few years now, since it's gotten sooo many reviews. The neighborhood is really cute and the space itself is really dark and vibey - though the tables are a bit tight. They suggest you order family style and you have to put your entire order in at the onset. The salmon belly nigiri was probably our favorite dish of the night and the jalapeno scallop roll was a must order as well. I would skip the toro tartar w/ caviar (way too mushy and salty), the crunchy rice w/ crab (waayyy too much mayo), and the king crab roll (super dry and not flavorful). Overrall for the money we spent, I am not sure I'd recommend BondST again - I think there are other better sushi spots in the city and this was just an average experience. read more

Rather than a high quality sushi establishment, this is rather a place to be seen and be. The food was mostly alright, but not worth the price nor was it a pleasant dining experience. The uni scallops were a huge disappointment. They detracted from each other and was better eaten separately. The vinegrette also brought out the bitterness from the uni. The salmon nigiris were okay, but no better than those you find at Japanese supermarkets. Ikura wasn't very good quality. Actually, I've had better from markets. Uni crispy rice was the best thing I had that night, but what does that say about this being a sushi restaurant? The only highlight of the night were the cocktails and the four we ordered were absolutely delicious. We won't be back. read more

I went here for the second time last night and first advice I have is definitely go in with a reservation, especially on a Saturday night. I called earlier in the day and asked to be added to a waitlist for 3 around 8:30. So once I got there, they actually did have a table for us in the bar area but we were waiting on a friend so I had to wait for another after they arrived. Since I didn't take that table and checked in about 30 minutes later we had to wait an entire hour for a table to open up. We were fine waiting at the bar because some seats opened up but this bar is veryyyyy tiny. Even with a reservation though you will have to wait about 15-20 minutes, we noticed this was the norm for everyone. Once we were finally seated we were so hungry so we ordered tons of sushi and about two entrees. Everything was delicious and their lychee martinis were so good, I couldn't get enough. Boy bondst was such a good experience if you're into seafood, sushi, and open to fusiony Japanese food. Love the sleek decor in the restaurant. We ordered: crab crispy rice, belly nigiri quartet seared (4x nigiri), lychee martini, Hokkaido scallops, edamame, yellowtail, Chilean sea bass. Total came to be $215 tax and tip incl. Favorites? Seared belly quartet - four pieces of beautiful nigiri seared to a juicy char. Salmon was my favorite along with the otoro nigiri Crab crispy rice - four quite large pieces of crab in a slaw over a perfectly fried crispy rice. Think crab meat on top of rice crispy rolls. This combo definitely works for me Hokkaido scallops - love the puree! Scallops were seared beautifully Chilean sea bass - I love the miso sake marinade, really adds a whole new dimension to it's flavor profile! Fish portion though was quite small wish it was bitter Lychee martini - Get your girl a glass of this and she'll be happy on just this for the rest of the night. After two years away from NYC (pandemic), a move to Miami, and a baby. My first visit to NYC and this was my dinner stop. Overall (5/5) clearly my favorite in NYC and maybe restaurant period (Miami just can't mimic bond st sushi vibe like NYC, sorry Miami) Venue (5/5) I go straight to the downstairs lounge. Regardless of how you want to classify this place it's trendy and a place where people are aware they are being watched. I'd say well dressed...beautiful people vibe. Plenty of dates and smaller groups. You'll see celebrities here and lots of models. Food (5/5) the picture is my go - to orders. Tuna tart, spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy crispy shrimp... dry sakatini. Now in 2022/2023 the prices are higher than pre pandemic but worth every penny. Mmmmmm. Desserts are wonderful too. So I've been dying to try this place. The location is great and easy to get to. The service was fantastic. Attentive friendly staff. The food was pretty good. We started with the scallop hot app, Uni crispy rice and the Jerusalem artichoke ( which I apparently forgot to get a photo of) All of the apps were really good. Flavors were amazing as well as the presentation. The omakase was great. Especially loved my ikura has a citrus flavor to it which was lovely Dessert was fabulous and they make a pretty good lychee martini. All in all the food was pretty good. You pay for the location. We came here this Tuesday evening and this place was packed! Indoor, outdoor, lounge, and 2nd floor were all packed. There were birthdays, special events, celebrity sightings, etc. But nonetheless, the service was excellent, and the food and drinks were fresh and refreshing. Some of the items we tried: Big Eye Tuna Tart: I really liked this one. It was delicious. It came with creamy ponzu, white truffle oil, and micro shiso on the big eye tuna tart. Tuna Crispy Rice: This one was also really good. It's like sushi but sitting on top of crispy fried rice. The tuna was mixed with Gochujang and Serrano chili sauce. Szechuan Yellowtail Sashimi: Very light and refreshing. It came with Szechuan ponzu, chili oil, and sliced Serrano peppers. Blue Fin Tuna Toro Roll: I really liked this roll. The toro was really fresh and light. This dish was served with scallion soy sauce. Seared Salmon Roll: This one was also good and fresh, however I'm not too crazy about it. It's served with lemongrass vinaigrette. Green Tea Mille Crepe: I really enjoyed this dessert. It reminded me of Lady M but with a twist. It came with a burnt sugar topping and a gold flake. Yamamomo Framboise: I really liked this one. It's pink, bubbly, and refreshing. It came with Tattinger champagne, St. Germain, Japanese mountain peach purée, raspberry jam, and lemongrass. It's been a long time since I've been to Bond St and it's as good as I remembered. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out as someone didn't show up for theirs and were able to get seated. I would definitely recommend reservations. Spicy King Crab Crispy Rice: Typically you see this with tuna or salmon, it was a nice change to see crab and it was excellent. Mushroom Donabe: Wow, this dish is just incredible. The flavors were amazing. Blue Fin Toro and Spicy Tuna rolls: Both very good. The sushi here is fresh and well prepared. Went with my family here tonight, we sat in a corner booth in the lounge, such a fun vibe. Definitely make a resy far in advance as it is always packed but feeds into the ambiance. The service was a little but on the slower side but it was also very crowded in the restaurant but not so slow that we were annoyed just helped pace the meal. We started off with the crispy rice(the tuna was amazing!--could go back and just eat plates of that) then had the wagyu. It came on a hot rock and was so flavorful, then we ordered 3 rolls(shrimp, scallop and crab avocado--all sooo good--shrimp was the best) as well as some pieces which were all so fresh especially the king crab. This place is so good for a really over the top night out. This restaurant has the whole building and it's very vibey. You take the elevator up to the main dining room which is dark and sleek looking. We ordered a lot of stuff to share. The table got some sushi rolls including a tuna one, shrimp tempura like one, and a the sun dried tomato roll. All were good - The Tuna roll was my favorite. The sushi wasn't nearly as memorable as my main dish. I felt odd about ordering something other than sushi at this place, but the reviews of this one specific entree were all so positive i had to try it. I had the mushroom crispy rice donabe and WOW. The skillet was scalding hot and totally added to the crispness of the rice. I've never had rice so flavorful and perfectly crisp. This place we absolutely delicious and I highly suggest going here over Nobu if you're with a group and want more of a party atmosphere before a night out. We started with the shishito pepper margaritas of course and they were delicious. We also got a bottle of saki for the table. Appetizers: The MUSTS include the crispy rice with delicious melted tuna on top so good. The tempura shrimp was crispy and the sauce was on point! Different from Nobu's and might even be better - you be the judge. Sushi: the spicy scallop roll is always my go to so of course that was amazing we got 8 of those rolls. The tuna roll and salmon rolls were fresh, no complaints. We also ordered every single one of their desserts and my favorite was the chocolate. Food was ok. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but overall it was solid. Service was VERY slow and the waitress was a bit rude. We were there fairly early on a Friday (around 6pm) and they were only at half capacity, but we kept having to flag down the waitress (she never stopped by to ask if we needed anything) and our food and drinks took a long time. Ambience was probably the best thing about this place. Great playlist and the vibe gets going as the place fills up and people gather by the bar for drinks. Would probably return for a birthday dinner or something similar if we could get a different (dedicated) waitress to cover us. read more

While I love the food at BondST, I was quite disappointed about a sanitary issue and how it was handled. I was using the restrooms about 5 minutes after the restaurant had opened, in advance of sitting down at my table. I noticed that one of the two toilet paper rolls was a little wet so when I went to unravel the second toilet paper roll, I noticed these brown / red dots all over the toilet paper. Several weeks prior I had seen a video online alerting people to watch out for toilet paper in public restrooms as drug users frequently use the toilet paper rolls to clean off their needles. After coming out of the restroom, I alerted a manager and explained the issue. The response lacked any concern. The manager simply said "I'll change that out for you." Well a little too late as I had already used the toiler paper, and yes would recommend tossing it out so others health are not put at risk. Management should have taken this issue much more seriously and should check the cameras. I spent the entirety of the dinner concerned about my health and wondering who in the restaurant was the one using drugs. read more

Some of my favorite appetizers that we had were the Tuna tarts, Tuna crispy rice, and the Nasu Dengaku which is a miso eggplant dish. the tuna tart dish was unique and not something I have seen in other places and the tuna crispy rice is just a classic favorite. One of my favorite dishes of the night though was the miso eggplant I thought this had a lot of flavor. For the mains we split the broiled sea bass and the grilled wagyu, the sea bass was definitely the stand out for me between the two. Lastly we asked them to make us a sushi platter with an assortment or sushi for everyone to share. Our anniversary dinner at BondST could not have been more perfect! The vibe is awesome and they're packed, but well organized. Reservations are a must! Although our early seating time came with a 90 minute seating expectation, the hosts acknowledged our special occasion with a booth with some privacy normally reserved for larger parties, along with some special treatment from the kitchen! Their meal service strategy stages the courses extremely well, and we were able to have 4 courses including dessert without at all feeling rushed. Everything we ate was 5-stars. This included exceedingly well prepared staples like vegetable tempura, beet salad and miso-glazed sea bass (best I've ever had) to more unique items like the sesame crusted shrimp rolls and tuna crispy rice. Visited here for New Year's Eve with a 10:30 PM reservation, and was seated at 10:45 (no biggie, they were pretty packed, which is a good sign to me). Our waiter was a super stylish, super helpful man who pointed out the specials to us and ensured our dishes were always cleared and water always full - so 5 stars already for service! To start we ordered the chicken yuba dumplings and the spicy crispy shrimp, I, and I cannot stress this enough, had my mind blown by the fact that the yuba dumpling was in fact made with tofu skin, and I could not wrap my head around the culinary genius that came up with this concept!! For rolls, we had the sundried tomato and avo roll, and the crispy tuna rice. I wasn't expecting to be impressed by the sundried tomato roll, we ordered it because my mum doesn't eat raw seafood - but that roll was just as amazing as the crispy tuna rice - HIGHLY recommend! For mains, we ordered the Moro miso organic chicken and the grilled branzino. I just honestly don't have words for how perfectly both dishes were cooked, the forbidden rice and the sauce in the chicken dish made me feel like I was on an island somewhere. The branzino was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, flavourful on the inside and topped with an amazing salsa, but infused with an even more mind blowing ginger ponzu sauce. I wouldn't waste your time on the nonalcoholic drinks, stick to bottled wine or champagne. Bathrooms are clean, definitely echoing the whole no toilet paper complaint after a couple hours in the restaurant - BYOTP!! Very cool setting, definitely made me feel like i was in London. Very tight spot at least the lower lever is, the second floor dinning is wey more comfortable. They are not very good with reservations to say the least, will make you wait at least half hour in their tint tiny bar area where the bartender never ever gets your order... pointless situation!!! But then when you order food you do forger about the wait and really start enjoying a great culinary experience. Do not miss the tuna tostadas (named differently), the scallop shell comes with tuna and uni, very delicious. The sashimi and sushi is not at all creative but by. Far one of the freshest in town. The ambiance was very dark and intimate, full house even on a Tuesday night.It wasn't authentic Japanese food but more like an upscale westernized version of Japanese - very similar to the nobu vibe. The big eye tuna tarts in this photo doesn't look at good as the others because I requested the micro cilantro to be taken out, but it was my favorite dish followed by the mushroom crispy rice don, the uni crispy rice wasn't bad I just wish it had another layer of sour taste that will make it more complex and interesting, also the uni wasn't cold enough. Upon entering Bond St, I realized that it is part of a multi-level building. My friend and I were a bit confused at first and went downstairs just to be told to go upstairs. We then went to the one located in the lobby to find out that we had to take the elevator to a higher level. It was pretty cool and interesting in finding the actual restaurant. When my friend and I got seated, we were given the menus right away and I got the rose cocktail. I don't remember which drink my friend got but the rose cocktail was literally TO DIE FOR. It was probably one of the best cocktails I've had. We decided to get the scallops as an appetizer and one of the sushi for 2 dishes. I don't remember which one we got but the quality of the fish was very fresh and delicious. My favorite one was probably the shrimp even though I'm not a huge fan of shrimp. This just means that it was VERY VERY good. For dessert I got the Bread Pudding and my friend got the Panna Cotta I believe? The bread pudding was also heavenly and delicious. We sat in the upstairs dining room. The low lighting, soft mood music and contemporary decor created a cozy, intimate vibe. The waitstaff were friendly and personable. We started with the seared salmon sashimi for an appetizer. It was fresh and light with the acidity of the soy sauce complementing, and not overpowering, the succulent salmon. Next we had the short rib foie gras gyoza. Yoooooo! I died and came back to life. This dish has supernatural powers. You'd think the decadent richness of the foie gras would be too much combined with the savory short rib but you'd be wrong...very, very wrong. Add the plum wine sake glaze and slightly sweet flavor of the figs and what you have is inadequately described by the word "masterpiece". This is the absolute best gyoza I've had in my life! My husband has the nigiri omakase, and as he relayed, each piece selected by the chef was a unique, and phenomenal delight.
