I was here on a Sunday evening for a friend's birthday dinner. In total, there were 10 of us. The service despite our large group was phenomenal. Drinks and food both came out quickly and everything was delicious. Our group shared just about everything from their hot appetizers list and everything was exceptional. Great experience. We made a same day reservation a couple hours ahead of time on a Monday and they were able to take us 2 in and even seated us in the vip seating. We started off with drinks and I got a dirty gin martini which was pretty good, a little on the briny side but that's the way I like it. We got quite a few apps to start and they decided to plate all the cold apps together which was convenient for us. Out of the cold apps, my absolute favorite was the special which was toro tartare with caviar. So flavorful and so fresh!! The scallop and uni cold app was fine, and the oysters were good. The hot apps then came out and the short rib foie gras gyoza was packed with meat but a lacked a little flavor for me. My date really liked it though. We also got another special app which was the wagyu (tartare) crispy rice and wow! So flavorful and fresh! We then ordered the king crab avocado roll and ahhhh i love their rolls. A very thin layer of rice and then packed full of king crab inside. The entrees then came out which were the mushroom rice donabe and the wagyu skirt steak. The rice dish was great, i loved the short grain rice they used and it was packed full of exotic but flavorful mushrooms. The skirt steak blew both of us away though. High end sushi place with a nice ambiance but sushi that is mediocre. The restaurant has three different floors, and it was a bit confusing trying to figure out where to go. If you want good sushi, I would recommend other omakase places that may be cheaper. I would say their best dishes are some of their Asian fusion items and the entrees. My fave of the night is hands down the broiled Chilean sea bass. It's probably the most tender and buttery sea bass I've had. So good Second famous item would be the short ribs foie grad gyoza. Flavorful and hits the spot! They are also known for the crispy rice, but I was not a huge fan. The scallop roll is also a specialty, and that was pretty decent! We got the salmon, yellowtail and tuna sushi and that was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Out of their drinks menu, the saketini is really good! I made a reservation with my fiancé to celebrate our engagement at BondST on a Sunday night at 7pm. This place was highly recommended to me by a friend so we wanted to check it out. The restaurant is located inside an old brownstone in NoHo which is unassuming from the outside but fully transforms into this romantic, grand, and elegant space once you step inside with its tall ceilings, dim lights, and minimalist decor. Our waiter was nice and attentive in a very genuine, personable way which did not feel forced or exaggerated. He gave us a rundown of the menu for food and got our drink orders while we thought about what food to get. My fiancé got the Smoked Mule cocktail which had hints of ginger, apple, and a hint of smokiness from the mezcal which worked very well. I got a Shiso Cucumber which was light, refreshing, and delicious. Both cocktails were amazing and not too sweet. For food, we were advised to order everything at once so the chef could figure out in what order to bring out the dishes. We ordered - warm mushroom salad: citrusy, refreshing, but hearty with a combination of different mushroom types that all had different flavors/ textures: nutty, earthy, meaty, crispy. Would order again! - big eye tuna tarts: one of the stars of the show. Paper thin rice cracker with tuna that just melted in your mouth over a layer of the most rich and decadent creamy ponzu and truffle oil. My favorite dish! - tuna crispy rice: another highlight of this super creamy tuna with gochujang over crispy rice. Came with 5 pieces originally but we added on a 6th so we didn't have to fight over the last one. - spicy crispy shrimp: my fiancé's favorite dish! This was actually amazing. The shrimp were so meaty and generously sized and had a delicate layer of tempura over them that was a little crispy without being too thick. The sauce these came in was addictive. It came with a green salad that had a deliciously refreshing dressing. Already want to have these again. - pressed eel roll: sweet soy with tender eel and crunchy slivered almonds! Very nice roll with good texture and flavor. - nigiri: we tried both the big eye tuna nigiri which was a very lean and the seared salmon belly. The salmon belly was definitely our favorite, it was so buttery and flavorful and had the perfect slight char. It came topped with a caper which added the perfect umami burst. Mouthwatering!! - scallop jalapeño roll: I'm usually not a huge scallop person but wow this roll truly blew me away. The scallop was so juicy and buttery but not fishy at all. The roll had a nice spicy kick that was well balanced by the yuzu kosho sauce. Very impressive roll in my opinion. - green tea mille crepe: the dessert was amazing! This had subtle sweetness contrasted by the mild bitterness of the green tea. The balance was perfect. The texture was also super light and fluffy! I really liked the crispy caramelized topping. They brought it out with a candle and "congratulations" written on it. Super cute :) Overall, I had an amazing dinner here and it made our occasion feel so special! The ambiance is really nice and elevated, the service was exceptional, and the food blew our minds with how delicious it was. Ended up at BondST after a show at the Shed & I wasn't disappointed. Selected BondST after looking at the other 5th floor Hudson Yards restaurant menus. Once I saw the $20 sushi rolls, I realized that I'll get the most bang for my buck as the others had appetizers starting at $30. A nice touch is that they serve a complimentary edamame for the table. The rolls were good as well- spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, & lobster tempura (my fav). The ~$20 lychee martini wasn't bad either, but I've had better. The servers are nice enough and they never let your water cup go dry or let you eat off of a dirty plate. There was a small wait to place our orders, but I assume he thought we were reading over the menu. The star of the restaurant was the location. From our seats near the window, you could see the Vessel. A beautiful view of the city. Inside was equally beautiful- modern Asian vibe. My favorite thing was the big eye tuna tarts but that's an appetizer, I swear there's at least 10 better sushi spots in the city that are more affordable when it comes to rolls. I also wasn't impressed by the drinks nor the service. The ambiance was a little bit dark (we ate upstairs and had to take the elevator), it was also crowded, like you can hear the conversation if your neighbor bc the tables are that close to each other. FOOD [$$$]: The food was delicious. I was really happy with the quality of sushi that we received and that I ordered. In fact, I was happy with the menu period. They had every roll that you'd want, plenty of nigiri and of course one of the main factors: crispy rice. I'd actually researched crispy rice in NYC, and cross referenced a few blogs along with Yelp and then added in the time factor (we were wanting dinner AFTER a Broadway show), Bondst seemed to be the place. And in fact, they don't just have crispy rice, but about 6 DIFFERENT options of it. This is why it made blogs and Yelps Top 10 list. And I found the nigiri to be perfect! Definitely wanted to order more. SERVICE: The service was great (better than I'd expected). We were seated downstairs in the bar/lounge/club area as it was after 11pm, but still offered a full menu. Our server was very helpful, friendly and attentive. She did a great job. AMBIANCE: Ok, as noted above, we wanted GREAT sushi + crispy rice + somewhere offering both and still open after a late Broadway show. Bondst checked all the blocks. As far as being open though? Here's the catch: it's an upstairs and downstairs kinda place. Upstairs, is pure Bondst restaurant! And from what I can see, it's pretty awesome! However, we arrived about 1045pm, and while still open with guests, they weren't seating anyone after 11pm which was basically our party of 4, so, we were directed to go downstairs to the lounge. Now then, the lounge is open until 0130am. So there's no rush lol. And, they offered us that same menu as upstairs and we ate gooooood! However, it was after 11pm, and it's a lounge, so we were about the only party in there actually eating dinner. Sure other groups probably ordered 1-2 little appetizers as snacks, but the preponderance of patrons were there to enjoy cocktails in a trendy East Village setting, loud music, and louder talking. The tables are very small and round, and the seating is basically couches ... again, the main intent of this area is a bar/lounge, and its furniture is appropriate for that. So while we still had dinner and enjoyed ourselves, we did have to ask to get both little tables in our area so we could push them together to accommodate 4 people and how much food we ordered. Each table was lit by candles, and the music was cranked up. For PURE "dinner", you might not want to hit the lounge, so show up earlier. But even if you are later, no worries, we still made it happen and once a few guests left around midnight, it actually became quieter and chiller and we really enjoyed it. For reference (guests leaving at midnight), we were there on a Thursday night (so not like a Friday or Saturday where folks likely stay until 0130). Upstairs or down, Bondst is definitely worth a try. Actually, get there early, have dinner upstairs, THEN walk downstairs and have a nightcap. read more

Absolutely incredible. To start we got the Sea Bass Tempura and wow. It was amazing. Came out hot, so crispy and melted in your mouth. A favorite dish. Then we got the seaweed salad, which was classic, good flavors and tasted fresh. After came the Spicy crab crispy rice. Super tasty as well. For my main I got the Sesame Crusted Shrimp roll and let me just say it is the best sushi roll i've ever had. I mean. It was perfect. The combination of the thinly breaded, yet crispy shrimp was delicious. Along with the pairing of the red curry sauce, the flavors worked wonderfully. The food overall was pretty salty, but good. What really put a bad taste in my mouth and my husband was the waitress. My husband and I ordered two sushi rolls AND two steaks and the waitress goes "you ordered pretty light". Meanwhile we barely could finish both of the steaks and took about half of each steak home... plus on my way out I walked by the waitress and was going to say "thank you, have a good night" and she looked right past me. There were multiple times as well she walked by our table seeing the water glasses were empty and didn't refill it however had no problem asking us if we wanted another alcoholic beverage. I honestly came in here loaded, so take this review with a grain of salt. I was invited to join this dinner with some old friends that I met Freshman year of college. One of the girls in the group asked what I wanted to drink. So thoughtful. I opted for an old-fashion as I thought I would look beast drinking it in my new suit jacket I just picked up from L-Train. I was correct. Beast. The hostess came up and said our table was ready. After a short elevator ride, we were seated in the back corner of the top room. Beast again. At this point we ordered more drinks, which really TAGGED me. Hit me like that body shot Tank hit Ryan Garcia with. I was involved in ordering the food, with another girl in our group taking the lead. Thank Jesus, I needed to be led at this point. We ordered family style and the items included seaweed salads, Big Eye Tuna, Tuna Crispy rice, Shrimp Tempura, Steamed Black Sea Bass, Spicy Tuna rolls, Spicy yellow tail rolls, and the Wagyu Skirt Steak. We made a reservation for 6 at 7:45pm on a Friday and was promptly seated upstairs. Due to the size of our party, our waiter recommended about 3 Plates/orders per person, which was plenty as we were extremely full at the end. Reviews for each individual dish below- Big Eye Tuna: Most popular item on the menu and the star of the show. I was amazed by how tasty this creation was and kept going back for more! Tuna Crispy Rice: Loved the texture and taste of this unique appetizer. Red Snapper Tacos: Great fusion item and came with a lovely avocado creme to pair. Scallop Tempura: Had high expectations but was underwhelming. Tempura was not crispy and tasted like a tater tot... Jalapeno Scallop & Seared Salmon Roll: Very fresh and delicious rolls. When arriving we were told there was a $125 minimum spend per person which was not disclosed when making the reservation. We loved both cocktails-- they were well balanced and delicious. We ordered the Hamachi for appetizer and it was fresh and the sauce was so yummy! I ordered the scallop jalapeño roll which is quite possibly my favorite sushi roll ever. That roll is a must try. There's an aioli dipping sauce and the roll is luscious. A word I used to describe it was fatty but is a decadent way. My husband loved his roll as well. It was a salmon avocado roll. This place was so nice and I want to acknowledge how patient and kind our server was. She was so hands on with our 3 yr old. Helping him color and even introducing this picky 3 yr old to edamame which he loved. Typically parents opt not to take their children to nicer restaurants but we think it's important to 1. Been eating my way through NYC, and based on the reviews had to come check this place out. I was able to snag an early table reservations, but in the end opted to sit at the bar. The place has a lot of hype and is a great place to have drinks and small bites, but overall I wouldn't recommend it if you are coming for the sushi. The sushi is creative, with some strong flavors, good variety, and fresh fish. With that said, it's on the expensive side. For example a spicy tuna roll is $18. They have several signature items that they direct you to, but they weren't as good as I hoped. The place is also on the louder side, so come to hang out with your friends for drinks, rather than for the sushi. Also, normal table seating has really low tables, so its more of hang out club/lounge vibe than a restaurant vibe. In the end I'm giving the place 3.5 stars for the overall good menu, solid service, and good vibes. read more

One of the BEST sushi spots I've ever been to!!!!!! Very expensive (rolls are small at just 6 pieces each), but well worth the money. There are 3 floors you can make a reservation for (one includes a sushi bar); we made a reservation for the dining room. The restaurant is both upscale and classy, exactly what you would expect from here. We started off the evening with complimentary edamame; fresh and salty. For drinks I ordered the shishito pepper margarita- delicious!! Just the right amount of spiciness, the entire drink really did taste like the pepper (without having to take a bite of the actual pepper). We went on to order the tuna crispy rice, the big eye tuna tarts, and 3 sushi rolls- the blue fin toro tuna roll, the spicy yellowtail roll, and the spicy tuna roll. The big eye tuna tarts were a last minute add-on, because the waitress told us it was the most popular item on the menu. You get two little "pizzas", that consist of creamy ponzu, white truffle oil, and micro shiso. It was one of the most unique but TASTY plates of sushi I've ever had. 10/10- ORDER THEM!!! And then maybe order a second plate of them. The tuna crispy rice was my second favorite item, I thought the flavors blended together perfectly and the Serrano chili gave it the perfect kick. All 3 sushi rolls were wonderful, all unique flavors again and all the fish was SUPER fresh. None had a "fishy" taste, all so soft they just melted in your mouth. The Food is great! We had the tofu miso soup, a couple different rolls and the Chilean Sea Bass was to die for! Loved the Saikyo Miso sauce! Desserts were delicious. The Service was phenomenal, Grace was super knowledgeable and the Ambiance is amazing, although the music was a little loud to have intimate conversations.
