Time and time again Bonchon in Union proves to be the best Bonchon location in terms of quality. I've tried locations in New York, New Brunswick (now closed), Philly and even the Philippines but Union beats them all. I always get the staple soy garlic. It never tastes like they just coated the soy garlic sauce on top and called it a day, as I suspect the other locations seem to do. The taste is to the bone. Other notable things on the menu is the chicken katsu which is covered in spicy mayo and their garlic fries. The only reason I didn't give it all 5 stars is every now and then the chicken sizes are either inconsistent or they are slightly burnt. Minor detail but a little disappointing when you get a bunch of small stubs of a chicken. The icing on the cake for this location is the service. Amazing staff that are always paying attention. Even the kitchen staff pop their head out every now and then. Always good to see the people who prepare your food. I'm a bit conservative with trying anything else on the menu but I'll always be back to see what else is notable. read more

Bonchon has the best chicken wings I've ever had. I love their chicken wings, especially the sweet crunch and soy flavor. The Jap Chae noodles are excellent too, as well as the bacon kimchi fried rice. I only wish that they had a location closer to Warren County so that I could get their food more often. read more

Excellent wings. Better than bdubs for around the same price point. They always taste crispy because of the double frying technique. They even taste somewhat crispy when you reheat them, whereas bdubs wings just become a sloppy mess with splattered on sauce at that point (and sometimes in the first place). The takoyaki octopus balls were surprisingly good. Good flavor and generous portions of actual octopus. Better than at many Japanese restaurants I've been to, oddly enough. The radish that accompanies the wings is a bit weak and flavorless. Not enough vinegar sourness. Dukbokki was not authentic. Let me start with I went for boba tea next door and totally forgot that this place was also connected so I went in to try a few things all which were good but let me say the soy chicken wings are probably without a doubt the the best chicken wings I've ever eaten. (I'm a wing snob.) the spicy ones were delicious but a little too spicy for me, people who like spicy won't think they are spicy at all. My only complaint is they didn't give me my radishes or coleslaw with my other orders but aside from that all in all was an amazing experience. There isn't a word to describe how bad the service is- we ordered a simple meal of tacos, wings and fries and it was at 4:00 PM not anywhere near rush hour/dinner time. Not only did it take 35 minutes for our food to get to us but when it finally arrived- the fries and wings were ice cold and the chicken in the tacos weren't the right chicken even. The ordeal really began when we requested a refund for services. The clueless girl at the counter could not help since she apparently didn't have the special code to give a refund only managers do. And good luck finding the manager because he was ignoring all of his employees' calls and they all started getting irritated by the situation and would not give us any updates on the whereabouts of the manager and if we were getting our money back. So we waited another 15 minutes while the support staff ran around like chickens with their heads cutoff until we just left our number for the manager to let us know when he actually arrived and refunded the money. While we waited a woman and her child were also not getting any updates as she also waited 20 minutes in store for an order she made on mobile but of course their system was down LOL Was it carelessness? Was it incompetence? Whatever it was I would not recommend anyone who likes to enjoy their time and money to search for the answer themselves. Go get some pizza. Today i ordered again and thought maybe i should give them another chance and boy i was wrong. I ordered kimchi, the large bonchon chicken that comes with a side of horseradish and a bibimbap. My order came and no kimchi, no horseradish and no red paste to mix the bibimbap. So how was i supposed to eat the bibimbap without the paste? Clearly they don't take their customers seriously.. So anyway, i called the store to let them know i didn't have my kimchi and all they said they ran out of it. So why the heck was i charge for an item you guys clearly know you don't have? Being someone who used to frequent BonChon on 7th Avenue in NYC, I have very high expectations when it comes to Bon Chon. I know the food will be good, and I expect the ambience to lure me in. So imagine my disappointment when arriving at the Union location. To be fair, we came in during their soft opening period, so maybe things just haven't gone up yet. As always, the chicken was incredible. But when our fries came out, they were SO cold. They didn't come back out for twenty minutes. But the chicken came out quicker than usual, which was nice. Called in for pick up on Saturday for an order of a small combo of spicy/soy garlic wings and drums, fries and rice. They said 25 minutes and when I arrive 20 minutes later everything was ready - awesome for timing! You know when you're craving something and are excited about it only to be let down? EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. :( Got home after a 20min drive home only to see that rather than wings/drums, I received a whole box of soy garlic strips (which were more like giant chicken nuggets). I went here a month ago for my birthday. I tried to order over the phone. Took my order, then proceeded to tell me because they were so busy that I had to wait and order when I got there which I agreed because I wanted Bonchon so badly. I got there and they took my order, then they told me it was gonna take an hour or more due to the high volume of orders that came in during the time I traveled there(I live in Staten Island, it took about half an hour to 40 minutes to get there). They were telling customers this as well that came in to order, half walked out frustrated. We waited, no joke, an hour and a half, finally got our order after it sat in the window for a while, while the young staff sorted through orders on who was next. Heavy mismanagement, couldn't even get organized to get orders out smoothly, this was the worst customer service I've ever experienced in a long time. My food was cold when I got back home not because of the distance I have a warm wrap in my car to keep the food hot when I travel, it's because my food sat in the window while I waited for it because of their mismanagement and disorganization of orders. This is the worst staff I've ever seen and my delicious chicken was cold and unappetizing because of them. This was one of the worst birthdays I've had eating out and I don't think I'll return again. The was a culinary nightmare. Let's start with the chicken I ordered, it was for my family of 4, all adults, 2 young men. I purchased 8 drumsticks, and 15 or so wingettes, 2 orders of beef tacos and 2 orders of the shrimp dumplings, and coleslaw. I picked the order up on my way home from the airport. This Bonchon is about an hour from my home. I get home,starving, my first meal of the day. The beef in the taco looked relatively tender, but in fact was more like beef jerky. The shrimp in the dumplings seemed to have been substituted with that imitation crab meat, no coleslaw. The chicken was salty enough for me to season 40lbs. of chicken. The chicken was so hard, you could barely tear it with your teeth. Think of wood. I called the store, explained my dilemma, their response, take a picture and bring the purchase back. I explained that I was an hour away, 2 hours roundtrip. I sent them a copy of my receipt and photographed the food. Bottom line they did nothing. I spent around $100 dollars in this dump.
