This seems to be a family owned business as they did have kids in the back that were helping and answering the phones and then returning to their homework. The person taking the orders was wearing a mask but, not the people who cooked. We were ordered chicken fried rice, crab rangoon, pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, pork/shrimp egg rolls and chicken and broccoli. We ordered and the food was ready in 45 minutes. The egg rolls were not greasy and were tasty. The crab rangoon was delicious and devoured in a few minutes. The fried rice and chicken and broccoli was not greasy and tasty. Personally, I think the chicken and broccoli was decent but, tasted like it was missing something. I also thought they were cheap on the protein. Overall, this is a decent option if you are craving Chinese food and in the area. The prices are affordable and the food isn't greasy. read more

My fried rice was fluffy nd had plenty of roast pork, hot and sour soup was very good, the green beans was a large portion, chicken wings were giant and nicely breaded and fried. This is a much better than average neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I been there three times in as many weeks. Dishes with vegetables are fresh and sautéed perfectly, not over cooked. Dumplings are delicious. I compare chinese restaurants by how they do their Singapore Chow Mei Fun. Again this place passed the test. It's so close to Kean. Me and so many of my friends order from here since they delivery to the kean campus dorms. (Which so many places don't deliver to the entrance door of the dorm) the price is cheap and good for meals during the day. Pink chicken is never cool, but especially unappetizing on their "diet" menu portion because it was in a slimy white congealed sauce. I love ordering from this place I have been ordering since I was in high school with my parents probably even before that when my girls would come over and sleep over we would literally order food past 10:00 PM I believe the owner has changed about twice since I've been an adult and paid for my own food and yet the place is still awesome the prices you can't beat they are super fast with their delivery and if they ever mess up an order which is very very rare then they will call you and let you know that they are giving you something for free if they don't know about it and you call them then they will give you something for free and make their way to your house again. China Star is the best of the common no frills Chinese spots you see on every corner of commercial areas in union county. They are quick like most Chinese food places but the food has a quality beyond all the others. Again I'm not saying it's better than the fancier restaurants but better than the straight take out spots in the area. One thing they make there that most don't is the Hunan fried wontons. The wontons are engulfed in a garlic soy type mixture that is delicious. The sesame chicken and general tso chicken is very good especially if you ask for it to be cooked extra crispy. read more

Out of all the places I've been to, their Cheese Wontons are the best! I usually get plain fried rice which I prefer over the pork fried rice. I usually stay away from anything with chicken because you'll ends up with big chunks of fat that aren't appetizing. I've had some of their shrimps entrees and they tasted great! read more

They are so nice and have VERY FAST free delivery ($10 minimum). They also give you a free soda can for every $10 you order. The food is great. Always moist and flavorful never burned. The quality of service at China Star had gone up over the years. They even give you a calendar when you order in December or January.
