Bonchon Union definitely has the best quality food out of all the Bonchons I've been to. The only reason I'm giving this location 4 stars is the long wait for food (comes roughly 30-40 minutes after you order). I"ve ordered nearly everything on this menu and I highly recommend the basic 'soy garlic' wings. All items are fairly priced except for the appetizers- you can get 30 wings for $23. However, I must say the size of the wings you get varies greatly upon that day- I've gotten huge wings here but I've also gotten wings half that size. Also the appetizers and sides are on the expensive side- in my opinion the only one worth getting is the salmon ball. Overall definitely a must try if you're within 30 minutes of this location. read more

There's not much parking area near this one since it is in like the village in Union so it might take a while to find parking. I ordered the the ten piece chicken, half spicy and the other half soy garlic with a side of coleslaw and rice. The spicy chicken was soo good!! The chicken was just right and the flavor of it was soo good. the inside is very spacious and there's a good enough amount of seats to dine in at or just to wait for picking up your food. I love Korean food, and Bonchon has decent fried chicken and Tteokbokki which I love. Have been ordering food from them for few years, and I know it usually takes them awhile to prepare food. I started to order online and also through app recently. Today I ordered by app, and the pickup time was 7:55pm. I arrived at 8:00pm and was told that my order was not ready. Waited for 15 minutes and I started to get annoyed. Checked with the same staff member, and even showed him my email confirmation so he knows exactly my name and items ordered. I asked him to check a particular bag that was sitting there since I arrived, but was told it's not mine. Went back to him probably 2 more times for the next 15 minutes, still not ready. Now I am really losing it. Decided to check with a different lady staff, and she confirmed the bag sitting there for 30 minutes was mine. I was mad, but didn't take it out on the girl because she didn't do anything wrong. While walking out of the restaurant, I spotted the only one male staff who gave me the wrong information the whole time, and he did not even apologized, showing the attitude that he didn't do anything wrong. Very disappointed at his service. That was such a fundamental element to be able to identify customer orders as a server, and he failed miserably. I wish everyone location cooked the wings at the same temperature and longevity this place does! Okay as of 2/21/2020 Order ready before they put on Yelp. Whatever I showed up while en route and picked it up. The quality of the food was terrible. The worse I've ever experienced from the franchise and I'm completely turned off. I've had Bonchon before and usually I like them but tonight I'm pretty disappointed. I've ordered half-and-half wings in the past, we would always receive five complete spicy wings and five complete soy garlic rings. Complete meaning the drum and the flat remain attached and we ended up with five big wings of each kind. Today I spent over $20 to get an order of 20 wings, And I pretty much got 10 wings total that were just cut in half. I know they were super busy and I'm thinking they were low on chicken and wanted to save but I basically paid twice the amount of money to receive the amount of meat I usually get with just 10 wings. I've never seen them cut the chicken like this. I don't know if there's a new manager, or if they were just splitting the wings tonight but I don't like being ripped off. Too tired to go back. My first time at Bonchon was on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. Realizing later on that this is a franchised establishment, I was worried about the food quality and authenticity. But I was wrong, Bonchon delivered great Korean food! We ordered their combo of wings/drumsticks in half/half (soy garlic & spicy) and to my surprise, they were delicious! The meat was juicy and cooked perfectly - breading on the outside was crispy and crunchy! In my opinion, the soy garlic was the winner. They were more flavorful than the spicy wings. We also ordered the Takoyaki (octopus balls?) and those were delicious too. The texture of the octopus on the inside with the crunchy exterior was everything you'd hope it'd be. Sauce was an interesting combination but very good! Not sure how authentic these are since this was my first time trying it, but I definitely recommend them! Lastly, we ordered the Bulgogi. This was my least favorite of the three dishes. The ratio of rice to meat was off (way too much meat and not enough rice). The meat was slightly too salty but seasoned nicely and the veggies were bland. I have to say this was subpar compared to my first Bulgogi dish I've had. At the price of almost $19, I would not order this again from Bonchon. Bonchon was ultimately a great find and I highly recommend their wings and drums! I've been to plenty of Bon Chon's but the one in Union may be my new favorite. Best suburban Bon Chon I have been to hands down. The menu has expanded and the offerings are quite good. Very clean and friendly Bon Chon with street parking available. We started with and avocado salmon rice ball to share and it was nicely presented and absolutely delicious. Then on to the reason we came fried chicken. We got spicy drums, garlic soy wings, and chicken strips half and half. The spicy drums rock and were delivered to the table piping hot and really spicy. My Daughters wings were cooked to perfection and the strips that my other Daughter had were spectacular as well. I am definitely coming back and plan to explore more of the new expanded menu. You always get nervous because you think, "I hope this bon chon breading is as crispy/flavorful." Well, I say this place has better bon chon than K Town in the city. Interesting. I had lunch at Barangay Grill and noticed the Bonchon sign with something written in Hangul next door. Is it THE Bonchon that everyone brags about!? Yes, it is. I first heard about Bonchon Fried Chicken from a couple of my friends who tried the food at the Makati/Manila branch. Then a few a weeks ago, one of my grad school buddies now in Singapore tried the food at his local branch and she fell in love with the chicken. Fortunately for me, Union has a branch. MY TURN! Buldak (B-): Essentially, this dish is diced chicken and rice cakes stirred in an extremely spicy sauce. The spiciness won't smack you in the face right after the first bite, but the heat does grow on you. I liked the chicken itself since it was really tender; however, I cannot say the same about the rice cakes primarily because, well...I didn't get any. In addition, I thought the mozzarella topping my Buldak was out of place. Takoyaki (A-): Not bad, not bad. They're a bit smaller than how Takoyaki should be but it had all the fixins -- bonito flakes, mayo, and green onions (substitute for aonori). They were fresh when they were served to my table. My only complaint is that I could hardly taste the octopus; I only tasted the batter. Bonchon Fried Chicken (Soy Garlic and Hot and Spicy) (A-): I dig it. While I liked the Hot and Spicy, the Soy Garlic was probably my favorite. The drumsticks I ordered were twice fried and had a slight sweetness to the crispy skin. Service (A+): I'm not entirely sure what her name is, but I believe it was Allani (sp?) who was working the cash register this evening. She was really friendly and great to talk to. There's plenty of seating. The menu is pretty limited but features the most common Korean and Japanese dishes (no sushi or sashimi). The prices are a bit on the higher than I expected, but the servings are pretty generous. Also, this is the only Korean restaurant within a 25+ mile radius. Not only the long wait for our food to be served, but also the very arrogant chubby girl cashier, I regret that I didn't get her name. We ordered chicken fried rice balls and bottled water. I don't usually like to write bad reviews, but I was very disappointed and angry with my experience with ordering from Bonchon. I ordered straight from their website to be delivered. When the food came, they had forgotten to put in an order of 20 piece wings. So I called the restaurant, several times, and on the 4th call someone picked up. I informed them that they forgot a part of my order and they told me to go pick it up from their restaurant. I'm sorry, but why am I going out of my way for your mistake as well as paying for delivery fee for food that wasn't delivered to me. I informed them that I could not pick it up, so she informed me that I would have to call Doordash (which I'm guessing is the service they used) to get a refund. I informed the worker that I didn't go through DoorDash to order the food so I have no order information to follow up with them and that I went through Bonchon themselves. After putting me in a long hold, she comes back on the line and tells me that they'll take care of it and that they'll refund it back to my account in 3-5 business days. That was 2 weeks ago and still have not seen a refund. At this point with the type of customer service I received from them, trying to call back again to get my refund isnt even worth it. To have a Bon Chon in my neighborhood is pretty convenient and dangerous. I used to go all the way to Leonia before all these other Bon Chon franchises popped up all over NJ. It's much easier to get my Korean fried chicken fix now. This particular franchise actually serves more than fried chicken, as they have the extended menu that includes other Korean dishes like japchae and bibimbap. Other than the chicken, I've only had the fried rice so far and it was just okay. The restaurant is quite spacious and they have plenty of seating available for dining in. But it's usually pretty empty in here and most people usually get take-out or delivery it seems. Street parking can be hard to come-by but there is a parking lot available behind the building, if needed. However, the past two times I've been the food has not been up to par :( this saddens me because normally it's SO delicious.
