The sides aren't particularly large so most of the calories is from the chicken itself. My wife and I enjoyed the spicy fried chicken. It **is** spicy !! It may not feel like it the first bite but it'll burn after a few bites and linger there for a bit. So be warned. I had a piece of the garlic soy, too, and it was good. I knew I had to get more of the spicy wings and saw their menu had a lunch option. I called for a pickup order and got a 6 piece wing (flavor: spicy) that came with a side (I picked steamed rice)! I also ordered zucchini fries and kimchi. The employee taking my order took down my name and telephone number and noted it be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived and was greeted and I gave him my name. He noted he'd call my name when my order was ready. After about 2 minutes I heard my name got my order and I was on my way. I got home and was super excited to dig in. I found the zucchini fries in a brown bag with an orange colored sauce. The kimchi was in a plastic container. The chicken wings were in a box. I searched the rest of the bag for my steamed rice but it wasn't there. I was really disappointed and even looked twice hoping I missed it. I opened the box of wings and took a big bite. It's a crispy and delicious chicken wing. The flavor is tangy and spicy. Low key numbed my face but the flavor is so enjoyable. It's not a spicy mouth numbing pain. The zucchini fries have a crispy coating and the sauce it comes with compliments it perfectly. Having the zucchini fries in a brown bag helped them to not get soggy which was great! I could eat these like potato chips! So good!! I was working my way to the kimchi but since the steamed rice was missing I placed it in the fridge till I make a batch of rice. All the food I ate was delicious. I absolutely enjoyed it! I didn't have a chance to take any photos of my food because I devoured it immediately. One of the best Bon Chon locations. Honestly best in the South Bay. Texture, flavor, and overall feel of the chicken is amazing. Spicy and soy-garlic are my classic go to. Pictured are the spicy and NEW Korean BBQ Sauce flavored ones. The new Korean bbq sauce flavor is subtle and great. They should add it to the menu permanently. I really enjoyed it. The soy-garlic is heavier than the Korean bbq sauce ones. So this is easier to eat Potstickers are 10/10. I always get the spicy ones. Best and my favorite. Service here is unreal. What is not to love about Korean fried chicken especially during quarantine?! KFC (the Asian kind here) - it's not the same as Western iterations because here it is all about the sauce. Juicy, meaty, and delicious: Bonchon here really delivers. My partner told me that he had never had KFC before so that had to change quick when we were in the South Bay grocery shopping. Yelp allows you to order through its app and wait times really ranged from 30-60 minutes after ordering, so consider doing it early if you're calling during a dinner rush. We ordered a Medium Combo ($28) with 20 pieces of wings - half spicy and soy garlic. Unlike other traditional KFC spots that use tons of gochujang in their recipes, their spicy take is more of a dry-rub I'd say. You won't find the searing thick red glaze that you'd expect but the wings still hold a kick. Their soy garlic were my favorite and were definitely easy to eat. The Zucchini Fries ($9) were great too but definitely over greasy. The brown paper bag that it came in was soaked in oil and leaked onto the top of our KFC box. They also aren't cut into spears and instead, shaved into ovals, so the pictures on the menu are deceiving. When you order online for pickup, even if your app says the order isn't ready, more than likely it's sitting out waiting for you already. They get very busy and may not keep up with updating online orders, so definitely check in after 30 minutes of placing the order to see if it's done. read more

As greedy as I was, I nearly went for medium but remembered I had the tacos. Got the half soy garlic, half spicy (thought they were literally mixed but actually just plated separately!), but the batter for both is nearly the same. I have eaten Korean chicken where the spicy version usually has less batter. Nevertheless, Korean fried chicken is generally delicious with that crunch and this lives up to that! Also ordered a side of seasoned fries. Very niceeeee, it has that layer of light crispy batter and it was served HOT. Would come here again! The only thing I found a little miserable though was the restaurant itself - it was quite dark - wood and red, I felt it could have previously been a pizza place?? I used their website for online ordering because their pricing is $5 cheaper than doing DoorDash. You can order ahead and set a pickup time. I would say that based on my pickup time, I still had to wait an additional 10 minutes, which I didn't mind since I went to ShareTea next door to get a drink to go. There's also a comic book next door if you wanted to do a quick scan inside. Bought back the chicken home and it was delicious. If you can, order ahead because it takes roughly 20 minutes for your food to be ready. We always get half soy garlic, and half spicy. If we're feeling a little more indulgent than usual, we will also get their seasoned fries. Wings are consistently hot and extra crispy. We've only had one experience with cold fries, and if you are able to eat there, it's definitely worth it because everything tastes so much better fresh. Since moving from that area, I hadn't had it in YEARS, so I was beyond ecstatic to find out that Bonchon was also on the west coast. I decided to come in and treat my self for lunch, and to my delight it was just as good as I remembered. I ordered a small combo with the spicy and the soy ginger with a order of the Parmesan fries. Let me tell you... the wings are still as flavorful and perfectly crispy as ever, and I'm happy to say that the fries held their own as well. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star experience was the location itself. For what you pay here and the quality of food, nothing inside this location matches, and it could really use a makeover. The dining area looks like it's seen better days and the men's room was even worse. I'm in Sunnyvale this evening. I've been to this Bonchon a lot of times. To be honest, I haven't had it for nine years. They didn't have as much locations as they do now. The neighborhood looks slightly different than the last time I was here. I wanted to see if it's as good as back then. Today is the day, I get some Korean Fried Chicken. I had the 6 Peice Mixed: 4 Wings + 2 Drums in Soy Garlic. It's as good as I remembered it. This is the ultimate Fried Chicken. It was so crunchy, the batter shattered. The Soy Garlic was deep, sweet, and savory. I forgot how good their Pickled Radish was. They mastered the art of pickling Radish. The Kimchi tasted like how Kimchi should be. The only thing is, I had somewhat a lot of cash on me this time. I wanted to use some 20's, but they couldn't break it because it's too big and corporate policy says they don't carry change due to frequent employee theft at this location and cash is hard to track and nobody is able to go to the next store to break it. And I was like I know it's not the worker's fault on this shift, they didn't have that problem back then, it's unfortunate, upper management need to sort things out, because I don't see Caesars Palace in Las Vegas having that difficulty, and maybe they should reinvest some of the revenue into better security and surveillance for theft prevention. In the end, I happen to have some extra change to cover everything. Other than that, everything was very good. decided on coming here for dinner last night (1/27) since we were in the area. place wasn't full nor was it empty, so we were able to get a seat once we walked in. we placed an order of a spicy small combo, rice and kimchi. sat around, talked while we waited for the food to come and maybe 10 mins later the chicken was placed on our table. the pickled radish was not on the plate like it usually is, the rice and kimchi was no where to be found so we waited. finally someone brought it over and we each grabbed a drumstick of chicken. bit into and realized it was soy garlic. we flagged someone right over and he said oh ok let me see what we can do. i don't know if he was new because he had to ask someone for help. shortly after a short asian girl with glasses came over and asked what the problem was. i told her what the situation was and she literally said because you bit into it, we can't take it back. i told her how was i suppose to know it's not spicy?! she states well spicy is red, you should have known. well whoever put it on my table SHOULD HAVE KNOWN it was not what i ordered. it is not my job to know if this is my food or not, that's YOUR JOB. she goes to the back and talks to whoever and comes back saying the only thing we can do is drizzle spicy sauce on it. i said then no i'm leaving and am not paying for this. it's not what i ordered. i told her i want to speak to her manager. the manager came over after our new SPICY chicken was placed on our table and i went over the issue with him. i told him if that's how you handle a situation that's horrible. it could have just been a simple fix ... oh i'm sorry let me take this back and get what you ordered. instead it was a back and forth crap where you were going to make me pay for something i didn't order nor did i like. he apologized and stated that that should not have happened nor was that the right verbiage. the situation was handled poorly (CLEARLY!) needless to say that short asian girl with glasses never came back to my table. we finished our meal and paid our bill leaving no tip. I went here yesterday with a friend and I shared with him the Bull Dak and the small combo of chicken with soy and garlic flavor, as well as kimchi on the side. Thought the food was amazing! Surprisingly the bull dak wasn't spicy but the chicken was instead, but each were really good! Personally as a law student/grad student, I pay a lot of attention to quality, service, and the overall value of everything and this places is like top for value. All my friends and family would rave about this spot which was so close to home but I never thought I was a fried chicken kinda girl; I've only ever had boneless chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. They didn't look saucy at all and the soy garlic barely had any flavor. The spicy wings definitely had a kick to it, which I appreciated because I LOVE spice! The fries were good too, but a little soggy (probably because we ordered them on doordash). The fries were seasoned with garlic, Parmesan, and some parsley. Loved our first taste of Bonchon chicken in San Francisco almost 8 years ago. Our enthusiasm was renewed 5 years ago in Sacramento. Somehow our Southern Cal Bonchon experience was underwhelming. So it's great to be having lunch at this Bonchon nestled in a quiet strip mall during our visit to San Jose. On a warm afternoon, it's wonderful they served cold draft blue moon. The signature half half plates with sides of pickled radish were yummy, as expected. Appreciated the generous portion of delicious japchae glass noodles! Usually I got dainty portions. I went here with my girlfriend recently and we split a half and half small order of wings. I forgot to catch the name of the staff member who took our order and gave us our food, but he was really great. We had dropped by the week before Christmas so it was pretty empty for dinner with a few small groups dropping by, but I kinda liked it that way cause we were able to let the staff member know if we needed anything. I still can't get over how consistent the wings are here, especially when you try to get it at other locations, you always get the same flavors, same crisp, and same experience.
