Very disappointed. My friends told me the fried chicken wings were good here. So I wanted to try and ordered the soy sauce flavor and sweet & spicy one. Just from the photos, you can see it was difficult to tell the differences between the two flavors visually. The difference in taste was very subtle too. Many of the wings were broken and twisted which was weird and unseen before to me. I wonder what happened... also the sauces were not evenly distributed. Some wings barely had any sauces on them. I have mixed feelings about this place. We ordered take out and the food came neatly packed in boxes. We ordered the 4 wings and 2 drums combo with soy garlic and spicy sauce 50:50. It was not marked which sauce is which. The soy garlic sauce was more sweet than savory garlicky which was disappointing. The wings were broken, some had both parts and some only one 'arm'. The chicken was pretty crispy but also very oily which I disliked. The sides were so so. The pickled radish was way too sweet! They gave us more pickling water than radish but as the radish was sweeter than candy I didn't mind. The cole slaw was ok but also lots of juice in the tub than actual slaw. Korean fried chicken feast for my son's birthday lunch today. The sign outside was gray on gray so it took as a while to see it. We ordered bulgogi fries, buns, and chicken combos. The garlic sauce is our favorite. Draft kirin beer was cold and bubbly. The food was delicious and the staff was very accommodating. The food and service were both fantastic! Our server was so attentive and made sure that, even though our food took a bit longer than expected (the place was busy!), our water glasses were always full and our drinks were on time. When we did get our food it was hot and delicious! The chicken was crispy and had the perfect level of sauce coverage. We were so torn about what side to get; we ended up with coleslaw but I'm so excited to try the pickled radishes next time! Come here for the chicken obviously, but don't sleep on the appetizers. we stopped by on a Thursday for happy hour. they have a decent selection for beers and a couple of ciders as well. we ordered seasoned fries which were so tasty and addicting. they have a pseudo- parmesan seasoning and were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. we also got the 24pc boneless half and half. the spicy was a little spicier than i expected for a chain, but exactly the level i wanted. the soy garlic was good as well, but i found the chicken itself to be a little soggy and dry. i would love to give this place another try with their bone-in wings or drumsticks. read more

Take out order. Located in Mountain View Downtown, parking is plentiful but a bit difficult to find unless you're willing to walk a bit. I ordered the Family meal combo (5/5): the chicken was super crispy and tender. Came off the bone really cleanly and easily. Flavor was good and coated the chicken nicely. Just really good fried chicken. Google/apple pay is accepted here. Overall, Bonchon is definitely one of my favorite places for fried chicken. I usually don't like Bonchon since they don't have many chicken flavors. But haven't had KFC for awhile. Medium combo 10 wings and 5 drumsticks. Spicy and soy garlic were aright, spicy didn't have much spice and soy garlic was a bit lacking in flavor. The skin is too crispy as in dry and not crispy like American KFC. At least the inside was juicy. The drums are good size but wings are tiny. Order took about 30 minutes to be ready. Pickup was easy, they have clean and used pens. They have sanitizer in a spray bottle that the guy sprayed which was nice. Service was nice. read more

If I were to come here again, it would just be for the chicken. The bibimbap was just okay. The store's red pepper sauce needed more sugar and maybe some sesame oil to make it taste good. We visited on a Sunday evening while the MV Arts & Wine Festival was winding down. Most of the tables were filled yinside, and some outside tables were available. Service: We opted to eat inside so we could watch some football games and a tennis match. It was a good distraction while waiting about 5 minutes just waiting to get our menus. Since we saw two menus on a nearby empty table, we finally decided to grab those. After about another 5 minutes and figuring out what we wanted, I had to flag down a staff member to order. She was great about taking our order, and read back what we ordered. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Of the staff that were visible, I saw a total of 5 people working the tables, getting drinks and taking care of to go orders . I was a little surprised that for that for 5 team members in front, about 3/5 staff members appeared to not make eye contact with customers (or me?) to see if we needed anything. I realized I had to flag down the same girl that only seemed to really pay attention (when we wanted to order, get the check, etc.) The other staff members did check on our drinks, but that's about it. (I've had KFC elsewhere and I've been more satisfied. What makes the fried chicken outstanding is that combination of the right amount of flour, spices, oil to get a crispy skin with the juices from the meat.) The meat was not flavorful or juicy, and more on the dry side. The batter texture was very hard and covered with either sauce. I was satisfied, but sadly I did not walk out feeling of "I definitely want to return" Even though the chicken is supposed to be one of the signature or anchor items, I was underwhelmed with the product. We also ordered the bulgogi sliders which was also just okay. It appeared to have more coleslaw than meat - not even 50/50. The bun was rather large. Last, we ordered the zucchini fries that came with a chipotle sauce. I think that appetizer was the highlight of the meal for me since it was an item that wasn't greasy, and was appetizing. This particular store front is located on the busy street of Castro St. Parking is kind of difficult, but there are parking lots behind the buildings. Service: very attention! I can't remember the exact combo types, but we ordered: - 3 large honey wings and 2 large spicy wings that came with rice (I think we actually had to pay for it) and pickled radish - mixed platter with 2 spicy/2 honey wings, and 2 spicy/2 honey mini drumsticks that came with pickled radish +1 the exterior of the chicken was really crispy! I really liked the ratio of batter to meat. +1 The chicken itself was very juicy, and cooked well (for the larger drumsticks). Wings wise, pretty crunchy and not too much meat on them -1 Why do we need to pay for rice?! That's mind blowing to me... Overall, would come here again! Good casual place to hang out with a few friends and watch some sports. I wasn't in the mood for getting messy with actual wings, so we ordered their chicken strips instead as well as a beef bibimbap. The bibimbap: For an Americanized bibimbap, it was actually pretty tasty. I say Americanized because it had lettuce, quinoa, and scrambled eggs (as opposed to a raw egg cracked on top), which are not usually found in traditional bibimbap. They also gave us the bibimbap sauce in a packet instead of the usual bottle, which was interesting. Either way, the taste was there and I would probably get it again. The chicken strips: I imagined something more breaded and crispy like you would get at a fast food restaurant but with Korean spices/flavors/sauces, but it was more lightly fried and more similar to nuggets. They were ok but pretty dry. Warning: the spicy ones are actually really spicy. Probably the spiciest thing I've eaten in a long time! If you're just looking for a place to hang and walking along Castro, Bonchon is a decent option, but I wouldn't necessarily make plans to go there. read more

There is only street parking and it's very busy during lunch and dinner time. This spot is not very big it has about maybe 12 tables tops. But they also have bar a couple of bar seating. Also, if you order to go they're not too bad. You can probably get it within 10-15 mins. The fried chicken: I guess you can say is the main thing to order here. I love the way this chicken is cooked. The style of cooking is very different considering is "fried" chicken. It's not greasy and it makes an explosion in your mouth when you eat it with the kimchi and rice! I have eaten at the restaurant, but in this visit, I actually took it to go because they were busy. The flavors are always spot on (although can sometimes be a bit greasy) and for me the spicy gives you that great flavor with some lingering heat... but not one of those overwhelmingly spicy flavors. Bonchon never misses when it comes to flavor. They have only had two flavors for the longest time (spicy & soy garlic), but recently have added two new flavors: korean bbq, and Yangnyeom. They are both amazing and just as good as the original two. Both the chicken strips and boneless wings are great. The chicken wings are the best (we always go for the soy sauce & spicy combo, but next time will try out plain ones as well)!
