The front door's deadbolt was sticking badly (we were concerned we weren't going to be able to unlock the door) so I contacted Bonafide's Totem Lake shop via their contact form Thursday night. 8am Friday I received an email to set up an appt. Came to Bonafide on the 17th after being told by Ace that they could not copy the keys to our new Japanese import vehicle, and it would be best to go to a dealer. The gentleman at Bonafide didn't hesitate to tell us what he could and could not do for us as the original key had a lock fob function. I had a Yakima cargo box with a key that had broken off in one of the locks. I was a little worried that a locksmith would charge a price that almost made it more cost effective to replace the box than have it fixed. I explained the situation and we agreed on a max amount of time/effort to be expended, and to my delight he was able to get that darn key out. Started on 6/3/2020 ***COVID-19 Risk*** On Monday, June 1st, "Rudy" Rodolfo from Bonafide Lock & Safe came out for a non-essential service call on our apartment building's inner hallway fire doors. Rudy was outside my apartment leaning against his service van on a cell phone call, yelling directly at my closed window, to the point I couldn't hear my conversation with a client. My husband went to our patio door & asked him to take his conversation away from our patio. His response was to call my husband a RACIST, (since when is it racist to ask someone to quiet down?) He then tried to get the next-door neighbor (also on her patio) involved by asking her if my husband was a racist and mentally ill. When she ignored his comments, he then went on to involve the on-site property maintenance worker. Rudy proceeded to throw a 'temper tantrum' because he believed he had the right to be as loud and unprofessional as he wants as long as he is on the sidewalk. (on the right in photo 1) The apartment worker apologized for the disturbance and escorted "Rudy" inside. You can see them walking shoulder to shoulder as they leave. (see photo 2). No face coverings, no gloves, not following social distancing, and not disinfecting surfaces after working. Rudy is not someone you want to trust with the health & safety of your family or the reputation of your business during a pandemic. I don't want him coming back to my enclosed apartment complex with multiple at-risk individuals. I know that the pandemic has everyone on edge with less work & more restrictions, but that does not justify this incredibly unreasonable reaction to a very reasonable request. read more

The deadbolt for my front door broke on the key side. It would just spin. Called Bonafide and explained the problem. They gave me the cost to come out and fix it, but told me I could save money if I could bring it them. I removed the deadbolt and brought it to them, expecting to have to get a new cylinder and have it rekeyed. Instead he was able to fix the current cylinder in around 5 minutes with a new shaft. Total cost of $7.90. Much less than what I was expecting. Inexpensive and very friendly service. read more

Jose said he might not be able to make good copy of my unusual key, but wouldn't charge me if he couldn't. After he ruined my blank he wanted to charge me for making all of the cuts too deep, turning my $13 blank into garbage. Stay away for copies. They butcher unusual keys and ACE, Lowes, and Home Depot are cheaper for common keys. read more

Simple as it gets! I ordered a blank duplicate key for my car on line and needed the blank cut. Because of the attached transponder to the original, I got lots of feedback (my car's forum and other listed mobile locksmiths) on how complicated it may be... whether the new blank is steel, has to be laser cut etc. One mobile locksmith even wanted me to go to their Everett shop where their cutting machine is located (I'm in Issaquah mind you). Cost varied from $50 to 150 or more if I had to take it to the dealer. Walked in to Bonafide and showed the gentleman my keys and he said 20 bucks, disappeared in the back with my keys and came back all done. I went home and transferred the transponder from the original and now have a working new set. Simple and reasonable! read more

I went to Bonafide Lock on Gilman Boulevard to see if they could replace a key I had lost for the bike rack on my car. Without the key, I could not remove the rack or fully open the back hatch. The key was round, not flat, and I expected to pay $100 or more to get a new one, if it was even possible. The locksmith, although initially unsure if he could replace it easily, succeeded in creating a new key in a short amount of time. This and a spare for just $26. I couldn't be happier. read more

Moved and wanted to rekey one lock. Bonafide assistant gave me price on phone of $65 for service call and $22.45 per lock. But when technician arrived, he charged more. Said minimum to rekey was $45, not $22 per, even if only one. I told him what I was quoted, and he refused to honor it. Don't like tricks like this. Do not call. read more
