I was charged over $500 to replace a commercial grade locking doorknob. When I called I asked for an estimate and told the service person would provide one after they looked at my lock ($59) service fee. I was told I needed the entire assembly replaced. Fair enough. At that point I should have insisted on an estimate. When I questioned the amount I was told the doorknob alone cost $200. Similar doorknobs range online from $37-$72. Of the $500 I did authorize $25 to make my new key match another key. I didn't get an itemized receipt. When I asked how much each thing cost he would punch in numbers on his phone and hold it up. Jason was courteous and responsive. However, he was completely unable to provide the service he said he would--to program a second key fob for my 2017 Chevy Volt. In fact, after trying twice, he then realized he had been using an incorrect key--one for a different model of Chevrolet. He also did not know where the transponder in my car was, so he had been placing the keys in the wrong location. Worst of all, he triggered the theft protection system on my car, so not only do I not have a second key, I'm no longer able to go anywhere but the dealer to get a duplicate key. After almost an hour, I'm in a worse place than before I called him. While he was apologetic, he was not at all competent to perform this service. read more

I recently was locked out of my bedroom and they were the first to reach out. They quoted me a flat $85 with no extra fees. I had decided to drill my lock the day of to make it cheaper on me but still had to call them. The guy sent over put so much effort into drilling further and succeeded, I'm surprised he still only charged me$85 + $10 tax. They came over in 30 min. They couldn't communicate with my vehicle, it's older so I figured it was something wrong with my truck. We parted ways, no charge. After going through Yelp's project feature after my lock broke and then fell into the door when I tried to remove it myself (whoops), I was contacted by several locksmiths. Key2 was responsive, first contact within half an hour. I was given a quote that was reasonable and a flat rate. I was easily able to schedule an appointment for the next day. Jason came on time and worked on the lock but ultimately the lock had to be replaced. He went to get the part and came back that day at a time that was convenient for me. We asked that two locks be installed that could be unlocked by the same key. What was installed were two locks that use the same key, but that require two keys to unlock (i.e. you cannot remove the key from either of the locks if the lock has been unlocked). I am irritated that the owner never bothered to explain this prior to installing. Most people expect "keyed alike" to mean you can unlock a lock and remove the key to unlock the second lock. I feel like we were definitely taken for a ride. Also, the two locks that were installed are very low quality and require jiggling the keys to get them to unlock. read more

I called and he was able to come to my residence in about 20 min. We were locked out of our home and we have an electric lock. He was able to drill the lock open and then repaired the lock. The whole process took a little over an hour and he was very efficient! The amount we paid was also very reasonable given what he had to do to repaid the lock after drilling it open. read more

He was able to get the door unlocked fairly quickly, unfortunately there was some scuffing left on the door in the process but that's a minor issue for me. Quoted $65 flat estimate, then charged $55 additional for a service call fee that I was not made aware of up front when getting quotes. After complaining that he just doubled his initial estimate he reduced the service fee to $45. Terrible, disappointing service. I was given a competitive quote to change several locks in a new home to match the same key. Then, after realizing we didn't have keys to some of the locks, we were charged extra to change those locks and also to change one of the door knobs after he was unable to pick the lock to remove it. The replacement door knob was supposedly "like new" but in reality quite damaged and flimsy. Finally, as he was about to drive off, I realized he had left the front door handle broken, and it came off every time I turned the key inside! Completely insecure! After first trying to convince me it wasn't broken so he could leave, eventually he forced me to pay for a replacement door knob of poorer quality to replace the door knob HE broke. Very disappointed by the poor and dishonest service. I would recommend everyone avoid this company. read more
