My aunt purchased my wedding cake from the 26th street location. It was delivered to my wedding venue on April 13, 2024. They failed to inform my aunt, the staff at the venue or myself that the cake contained real flowers and that they wrapped the stems of the real flowers with aluminum foil. When the cake was cut and served to guests, you could imagine how we all freaked out when the staff realized that the cake had some bits of foil. They quickly took action and removed the served cake from the guests. My aunt called the owner and the person was unapologetic, said that the only thing that could be offered was the replacement of another cake. The box the cake came in nor the receipt provided had no indication that the flowers needed to be removed as it contained foil. Here is a picture of a piece of cake that contained bits of the foil. The service was horrible! They are not helpful. When we asked help with carrying out the very heavy cake they said they're unable to because they had hand and foot injuries. You would think they would have carts to help move the cakes. They said they inform customers to be prepared to carry out the cake. This is information we did not receive. And the writing on the cake "happy birthday" was so small compared to the large cake, it looked ridiculous. I don't understand how they thought it was okay. They cake tasted good, but having to decorate the top of the cake on the fly to make it look presentable from the awkward writing, did not make it worth it. read more

I like the cakes here even it it's not near my house every now and then I'll take the trip to get a cake or a pound of cookies, try them. The cakes can be more than your typical cake from other stores but it's worth it. I try not to eat much cake but when I do I like quality. The pecan cookies and the sugar cinnamon are just awesome. I was introduced to this bakery a few years ago. I kept coming back because the tres leches cake made here is fantastic. For my birthday I always get a cake from here. I usually get a cake the size for 8 people. I also get like 5 mini tres leches cakes. They have different flavors I always get the strawberry one. The guava flavor one is also good too! I have never had issues with the orders I've made here so that's another reason I am still a customer. The only complaint I have is the plate the cake is placed on. It was a 3 tiered cake - with different flavors. Our flavors were tutti fruiti, abuelitas cake, and tia martita cake When choosing a design and flavor(s) we were a hot mess! Leticia (I think she is the owner) was super nice, and she sat down with us to help us create a cake! She suggested ideas, and we told her ours, together we created a beautiful Christening cake! **I smile just remembering about it** She also mentioned how most of the recipes were passed down to her from her Grandma. This was during the summer (90+ degree weather) so it was beyond convenient that they were able to deliver the cake directly to the hall. (We had ZERO issues with punctuality, and with the driver finding the hall) Truth be told I did not know this location had a cafe as well. I usually come here to order cakes, or pick up pastries.. not to HANG OUT!! So if your looking for a hangout place to have lunch, this probably will not be a good choice for you. Get in, order a cake, and get out! Their ashland locations has a bigger seating area, and a bigger menu selection. I will not go anywhere else for cakes but Bom Bon! I have recommended them to all my family and friends. My cousin had her wedding cake made here as well. They even have miniature versions of their popular flavors for $5.00 - great way to sample, or in my case, order a bunch of for a party :-) In my experience, cheap cakes are not usually the best in taste or ingredients. I first of all had such high hopes since they weren't afraid to charge us 280 dollars for the cake we ordered just for it to look like shit. When I went in to inquire about the cake I was really specific on if it's not going to look exactly like this then I can go somewhere else but the owner was set on how he could do it and I didn't have to be worried because he did something like this before. He said to send the pictures of exactly what pictures we wanted on the cake so we did. A week before the event he again asked for the pictures saying he didn't receive them so we sent them again. Now the day of pickup we went at 10 and they said the cake wasn't even started on and they didn't have the pictures of what we wanted. So we had to reiterate the fact we needed it done by 12 and how could they not have the photos when we had send 2 times already. Again they couldn't find them because the owner had us send them to him when he wasn't even going to work on the cake because he was "off". It's all just very unprofessional. When I had my cousin pick it up they had just barely slapped the fondant on and let me tell you. That shit is ghetto. Spent nearly 300 dollars on a cake that I could've done a better job on. Don't go here even if it's your last resort. You'll spend an arm and a leg for a kidney and get a bean. I wish I could've gotten a discount or a full refund because honestly this shit was horrible looked horrible tasted horrible hardly had any strawberries and honestly a waste of time but idk what the statues of limitations are with this unprofessional ass cake company. I was told it was not possible-okay thats fine. So what happens come the big day. I am handed a mess. The cake I asked for and specifically gave pictures to was suppose to have elmos face as a topper made of either a cookie or a cake covered in fondant...these people bought an elmo face balloon from a flower shop and just stuck it on top. REALLY! I didn't even get a discount for it, the experience was just terrible. It was a simple two tier cake, a 10 and an 8 in on top and these people charged me $270. It was terrible and I will never go there again. Go to cakegirls on belmont if you want an impressive and equally delicious cake for probably the same price. I know what your thinking..Bianca stop being such a divalicious. NOPE!! It wasn't a hard cake to do. In fact I-Me-Myself-This gal made the same cake the following year just to prove I could do a better job on the art. Ive been a customer to Bombon cafe for years now. Ive gone to the Ashland location, the 18th street location and this Little Village location. The prices are high, but I never mind because the cakes were always delicious. That is until last Sunday. I went and bought a 50 dollar cake. Which they assured me was fresh. I even left a tip. Once I got to my nephews birthday and we cut the cake we realized all the fruit that goes in between the cake were rotten! It was absolutely embarrassing. Never again will I buy from here. I know they have a good reputation but they should work hard to keep it that way. I ended up driving to webers bakery on archer n harlem to pay 20 dollars for a fresh chocolate cake. Why just have a great tres leches when you have 5 different options? Each one better than the other, the strawberry being on a whole different level? Full cakes or perfect individual portions it's hard to go wrong. Their flan is also quite excellent. A th I i creamy texture a bit heavier on egg than others but still very well done. Laura of Bombon is not only one of the loveliest people you'll ever meet, but incredibly talented at cake design and customer service!!! She did our wedding cake last year and gave us a FREE little vegan anniversary cake which was amazing. First in wedding planning, we tried 3-4 bakeries. While the first one was also good, she blew them all out of the water with the tasting. First of all, instead of just a slice or pieces of cakes with different toppings/fillings, she made us little cakes that looked beautiful and told us that like pasta, cake tastes better the next day and packed up the leftovers. I think she let us try 5 cake flavors and they were all excellent. We ultimately picked dulce de leche, passionfruit with guava, and pear and pistachio (I'm pretty sure - it's been a year!). Then the other kicker was that I had an idea to make the cake look like the restaurant in Playa del Carmen where my husband proposed. She didn't bat an eye and on our wedding day, we were just so impressed and pleased and thrilled at how it turned out! She got our colors perfect, incorporated the restaurant logo and look perfectly and everyone of course raved about the taste. She also provided little to-go boxes and we divvied up cake to our family and guests (we made sure to order more than enough!). I've also bought some of their other desserts (I'm vegan so I don't get to eat them) but my family loves them! I can't recommend Laura and her bakery near enough! The famous BomBon also has a Little Village location. Sure, the slices of cake are scrump. But is it really worth 5 bucks? The sweets are nice but the cost is not. The worst part is the location. They're located within a dress shop.??? Wierd choice. It took me a while to figure this out. The BomBon sign is on the outside but the display window houses dresses. (There might be a cake or 2 between them that was not obvious.) When I finally walked in, I noticed the bakery towards the back of the business. They have very limited seating. A small round table with 2 chairs. I did notice a chalkboard sign against the wall that said they also offer sandwiches and drinks. No desire to return. Maybe if they had been more creative with the location I would've given it a second chance. read more

My family surprised me with a cake for my college graduation this week. They told me that their experience with this bakery was not good. This bakery never took the time to ask what time they needed the cake by. So, on the day of the pick up on my graduation, the bakery told my sister's boyfriend that they had no knowledge of the cake. This was impossible because apparently they had exchanged multiple calls the week before my graduation about details of the cake. When the employee who took the cake order arrived at the bakery, my sister's boyfriend was told that the cake would be ready soon. After cutting into the cake, my sister told me that the bakery didn't get the order right. We did not the what we ordered. It seems as if the bakery made our cake in a rush. I was very disappointed with BonBon's service and the delivery of my cake. I had bought cookies and pastries from here and have always been pleased. I bought a costume cake for my daughter's 5th birthday, the design was correct but the flavor was not. When we cut into the cake, I realized the cake was wrong, but at that point I had to serve it. Called them the next day to let them know of the error, but instead of an apology, they were confrontational. They stated that the cake was correct and that I was mistaken. On the order form it stated exactly, what I had ordered. The man stated the cake was made exactly how I had requested, when I again stated it was wrong he said no. If I could proof that they made the wrong cake he might be able to do something. Nice. For the amount of money they charge you would think, first that the order would be correct and second, that the service would be better. We usually buy the cakes at Pierre, I am going to stick to them. The service has alwasy been exceptional and they go out of their way to make sure that the customer is pleased and not as pricey as BonBon. read more
