As someone with a strong sweet tooth, BomboBar hit the spot. My only "complaint" is they are strict on adjusting their "special" menu items. Which made my order double the price. Service was speedy and one scoop is plenty (just heads up, it's a large scoop). Disappointed by very limited seating for such large portions of food. Not very easy to eat on the go.
My friend and I were very confused by this place as the menu did not reflect what we were seeing on Yelp or on their social media. We ended up with much smaller donuts than we thought we would get. Don't get me wrong, they were still very much delicious! It was just very confusing as it wasn't what we were expecting. Do they change out their menu items? If so, how often? I really wanted a donut ice cream sandwich, but that wasn't even on the menu anywhere. It was still a very good donut place and they have a nice outdoor seating area that's enclosed with heat lamps, so you can come here even during the colder months. Not much decor, but still some cute signage. Be aware their tables are extremely off balance since it is on a hill. They should put something under the legs to make them even because I was nervous amount my food sliding off if I wasn't paying attention. The woman at the window that helped us was more on the rude side. She visibly looked annoyed as it she was upset we were making her do her job. My friend and I split 6 Bombolinis and got 2 dipping sauces: chocolate hazelnut and salted caramel. The donuts themselves were pretty good! I don't think I would make a special trip out here just for them though. Both sauces were very good, but the salted caramel was to die for! Definitely my favorite of the two we tried. I would give this place 4 stars, but the false advertising and confusion is making me give it 3 stars instead. I was really looking forward to certain things and there's no explanation at all.
This is a great spot if you're looking for desserts to take pics of. That being said - the last few times I've gone here they are out of a lot of their ingredients so good luck lol. The staff is friendly and nice to chat with. They have screens where you can place an order on your own or you are able to go to the window and place an order with someone. This is an all outdoor spot - there is no access to indoor seating. There are a few places to sit outside, very limited. This is more of a 'grab what you ordered and walk around with it' type of place. Right in the heart of Fulton market so there is plenty to see while you walk around with your sweet treat. It is on the pricier side, but city prices are always higher. Cute presentation but the quality is so so. Full of sugar which is to be expected.
The Bombolato satisfied my sweettooth! I've always wanted to make a stop here when I'm in Chicago and finally had the opportunity to. It was a beautiful afternoon and I ordered outside without a wait. I like the simplicity of the menu. I ordered the Strawberry chocolate chip bombolato. It was very filling, but I did end up eating it all! It was delicious!
YUM YUM YUM in my tum! The hot apple cider was delicious and I loved the whipped cream and caramel. I also appreciated the VERY CUTE, decorated, and warm area we were able to sit in as we enjoyed this treat, which came out very quickly. Definitely stop by here to get you into the holiday cheer! You won't regret it!
Hipster doughnuts and ice cream. It sounds like it would be expensive, but it wasn't quite as bad as I thought. BomboBar is a window on the side of Bar Siena, meaning there's no actual inside seating area. Get some locally made coffee to go with your doughnuts. There's a few vegan friendly sorbettos. A better place to go when it's warm, because there's no indoor seating area. It's just a window on the side of Bar Siena. They're best known for their Bombolini, an Italian style doughnut they sell by the ton. Besides that, the ice cream. Coffee is about $3 a cup. This is brewed by La Colombe, so it's local. As for the ice cream, it has a lot of flavors. It's $5 for a single scoop. The last time here I got the Berry And Mango Swirl Sorbetto. It's non dairy. They have a few others. Cool place literally for some ice cream. It's a place to get doughnuts, ice cream, or even both if you like. There's even ice cream for dogs so you can get some for your friends, and there's a few sorbettos for vegans.
Was not super impressed by the donuts here, and was expecting much more based off of the pictures I've seen on Yelp. First of all this place has no indoor areas, so especially the Chicago cold it was very hard to stay there and order and eat the donut outside even though they had heating lamps. Second of all a lot of the pictures that I've seen advertised have little squeeze bottles that go into the donuts, but when we asked about those they did not have them, and the donuts that we got obviously did not have them either. In terms of the donuts if you're someone who really likes dough, you will enjoy these donuts. The filling was pretty scant and everything was pretty sweet, with not as much balance of flavors as I would've expected. Overall, I don't think I would be back here based off of my experience. I wasn't too big of a fan of the donuts and was definitely not a fan of the false advertising and the lack of indoor space
This was such a disappointment. I read online that they had donut ice cream sandwiches with all different types of toppings- so naturally I had to have one. I went there and they had just reopened after closing for awhile and no longer served them. They also no longer serve their specialty small batch donuts. But I had looked for parking for nearly 30 minutes to go here so I ended up ordering anyway. This is an a part of a restaurant- this is an enclosed patio. They had a heater but they weren't using it and it was pretty cold. My friend and I got a three pack of bomboloni donuts with three dipping sauces - chocolate hazelnut, vanilla, and salted caramel (my favorite). The donuts were made fresh which was nice - they were covered in sugar and pretty delicious. We also had gelato - I had strawberry cheesecake and my friend had Cookie Monster. Overall it was fine but I wouldn't have gone out of my way to come here if I'd known they didn't have the old menu items.
Went to grab a Bomboloni after a Saturday brunch at West Loop. Got the Cookies and Cream Bomboloni and it was delicious. This is a donut which has a filling of oreo custard, vanilla glaze, crushed oreo. The donut was indeed soft and decedent. The reason I gave a 4/5 was because they don't have the Nutella Bomboloni any more which used to be so goood!! If you are looking for a dessert spot which has both homemade gelato and donuts, I would definitely recommend this cute place. It is located at Bar Siena's dessert walk-up window in case you are wondering where it is :) Sad thing is that they have only 1 vegan gelato which is the berry & mango swirl sorbetto :( All this said, I would come back again especially for the bomboloni !!
Finally tried this place out! Now admittedly I'm not a filled donut gal so wouldn't be my first choice BUT if you are, these are worth the visit! Great service at the window, fresh and no wait. We got the 6-pack to taste test all the flavors, of course. We chose (L - R, T - B): - Peanut Butter & Jelly - White Chocolate - Maple Bacon - Cookies & Cream - Pistachio Lemon - Cherry Cheesecake . My favs were the (1) Cherry Cheesecake (2) PBJ and (3) Lemon Pistachio. Good flavors and donut/filling ratios. PBJ surprised me! Pretty good.
I wanted to try Bombobar after dinner because they had interesting desserts. When we got there at 9:30pm they only had the classic donuts and gelato left. Boo oh well. After we ordered they gave us our order on an open tray saying they had nothing to cover it with so we had to take it back to our hotel in the pouring rain. I think i shielded it from the rain successfully enough, he We got vanilla bean and nutella bombolini at $4 each and I'll have to say it was not spectacular. The little squeeze bottle they give for you to squeeze was really hard to get anything out of so i was basically eating a glorified donut. Glad i gave it a try but no thanks on coming back for more.
This place was so so so good! These shakes were thick and creamy and dreamy!!! The staff- oh these ladies were on it! Honey they are all of that and then some!!! Super heavy on the helpful and so sweet just like our treats! We ordered some treats to go... so all set and need nothing else sweet, we're going to have cavities from how tasty and sweet this place is (the staff... omg... my teeth were showing in the best ways!) Very cool spot super busy location and the hype is well worth it and love the space. Outside and inside!! read more
The little window service is super cute. The sous-pastry chef was at the register and was extremely kind! He went out of his way to really make sure that the vegan icecream didn't have any of the allergens my cousin had. I got the bombolato which was delicious! The donut itself it nice and fluffy and not overly sweet. I tried the salted caramel icecream which was good - not the best I ever had, but it was a great little sweet treat that I could appreciate. My cousin said the chocolate vegan icecream was one of the best she's ever tried. I would recommend stopping by if the line is shorter and trying this sweet treat! read more

Donuts are my favorite sweet ever!! I wanted to come here because they fun flavored donuts that I had never seen before. Its located right in the heart of West Loop, so I thought it might be busy, but I was happy to see there was no line. I'm not sure if you can go inside or not, I ordered from a window. They guy was helpful in helping me make my selection, great service overall! I got Cherry Cheesecake because the guy taking my order told me it was his favorite & I love cherry pie. I also got Cookies & Cream because he said it was the most popular. Both donuts were slightly dry on the inside, definitely not the best donut I've ever had, but still good and enjoyable. The Cookies & Cream was honestly average, I don't think I would recommend it or order it again. BUT the Cherry Cheesecake was soooooo good!!! Loved this one & would definitely order again & recommend. The cherry pie filling that came on it was amazing. They have other desserts as well, that I would love to come back to try. Next time I'll be ordering gelato and/or a shake. Worth stopping by if you are in the West Loop area! read more

Solid gelato spot!! This place is just next to Bar Siena and right on busy Randolph Street and is a great spot to end the night at for a little dessert. Just to preface, this is a walk-up-to-the-window spot, there's a few outdoor seats/bar stools but I wouldn't count on them being available. It's more so a grab and go spot. I tried the pistachio gelato and it was AMAZING! Definitely a solid dessert spot if you're in the area and looking to try something! read more
Not quite sure I'd go back. Granted I did go pretty late. Got the pistachio lemon bombobar which had amazing pistachio flavor. There was a custard filling in literally 1/4 of the doughnut which happened to be the last part I ate. It's a pretty dense yeast doughnut with filling, light glaze of flavor on top. I think if the custard was spread more uniformly it would be less dry and more enjoyable. It's a cute place, fun concept but not worth my money IMHO. read more
Bombolonis, malasadas, donut this, donut that, it's starting to get easy to lose track of all the fried doughs of the world. But here I am, finding random donut shops to eat at cause Au Cheval had an one hour wait. This is more of a dessert bar/stall where you order what is essentially a filled donut, but not a jelly donut. I got a cherry cheesecake that surprisingly wasn't too sweet though the dough felt a bit stale-ish but I blame that on the sudden downpour and rain. The PB&J was a nice surprise as well, with the simple joy of peanut butter and jelly but in donut form. If you're in the area waiting on a long waitlist like me, definitely swing by here and maybe grab a drink from the local bar as well. read more

I got the campfire s'more's Oreos addition one scoop gelato it was five dollars which I feel like is reasonably priced as it also came with a lot of toppings. There wasn't too long of a line and the service was friendly, there was an outdoor seating area that was nice next to the takeout window. I would definitely come again. read more
I got the house made gelato based on the staff recommended. I ordered the sea salt caramello and the tiramisu. I really liked both flavors. They were sweet and rich. I didn't like how I couldn't sample any of the flavors. We placed your order from the store window. The place is so small, you can't go with a big group. I would definitely love to their donuts in the future and milkshakes. read more

I've never really been a huge fan of doughnuts but I will have a bombolini from bombobar anyday. The donuts are humongous and they are very generous with the toppings too. My friend and I shared a pumpkin spice bombolini. The whip cream to donut ratio was perfect! I really appreciate how toasty and fresh it was. I would come back to try the other donut flavors. read more
I came here on a Saturday afternoon, and there was no line whatsoever! Not sure if we just got lucky but would highly recommend trying it out. The smell can be described as the outside of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, for lack of a better description! It's basically a window with a room of tables around it, but it felt toasty inside. There are a few cool, colorful backdrops for foodie photo needs as well! It's great on both cold and warm days since they have a wide range of treats from customizable hot chocolate to ice cream sundaes. Staff are friendly too and will answer any questions you might have! My friends and I decided to go for a donut after enjoying a little brunch at bar Siena. The bombolinis look super rich and heavy, but they're light, fluffy, flavorful, and not overly sweet. I chose to try the seasonal pumpkin spice one, which had fluffy whipped cream and a sweet cinnamony drizzle. With low expectations, I also got a cappuccino. After all, I am very particular about my coffee. It was steamed to perfection. Highly recommend! read more
Walked by after dinner and saw what looked like munchkins on a tv screen next to ice cream and sorbet in a cup. We were already pretty full from dinner but who can say no to dessert. We ordered 6 bombolonis and a tangerine sorbet. They gave us the sorbet with the bomboloni at the same time which meant our sorbet was basically soup (hence the docked star) but the bombolini was perfect. Not too sweet, doughy, soft, and it came with two sauces: you can choose between 4 and we got chocolate hazelnut and vanilla. Id say this was definitely worth checking out but maybe pass on the ice cream. Also the bombolinis are much bigger than a dunkin donut munchkin haha read more
Great vibe going on here! Music is pretty good and chill. Service is on point with quick and attentive response! Nice and professional! This place is very cool and has an easy going atmosphere. The seating upstairs looks very fun! We already ate but the coming out looks very good! read more

I came here to get the bombolonis I kept seeing online. I was a bit confused on how to order, but you have to go to the window. The small bomboloni with the pipette was not how I received my order. Instead I received three bombolonis in a cardboard box and the Nutella sauce for dipping. Overall, they were tasty, especially when warm, but it didn't live up to my expectations. If you are looking for that dessert you saw online, you're not going to find it here currently. read more
Bombobar is a counter stop that's currently inside a plastic greenhouse (either because it's cold or because of COVID) with some seating inside. The first thing you'll notice is the blasting music. We could not hear each other talk and the person taking our order had to yell. I don't understand why they don't just..lower the music? Anyways, we got the bombolato to share, which is their donut ice cream sandwich and it was really good! Highly recommend the vanilla combination since the caramel sauce and the fruity pebbles go really well with the milder vanilla and donut tastes. read more

I was influenced to visit BomboBar after seeing pictures shared by Yelpers - Sarah P and Helene K. What kept it relevant in my mind after having been on my to-visit list for some time, was the thought of how the desserts are presented. When planning to make my way out I felt giddy-like, even sharing pictures of items with my coworkers. With how hyped I was to visit, I got humor out of it being a 75% match of me possibly liking it, per Google! I thought to myself, really? Google just does not know me like Yelp does, so we will see about that because I love any place that presents desserts how BomboBar does. If you drive, I recommend not visiting BomboBar late in the evening or you will be driving around looking for a parking spot. I say this because I ended up prolonging my visit until I got a better grasp of when to visit the area because Fulton Market District is a foodie's heaven! I ended up planning to visit when it was not as crowded, hoping that I could find a parking spot within the area. Luckily, I found a spot along W Randolph St, right in front of the Madewell clothing store. It felt surreal walking up to its exterior being that I had a few failed attempts to visit because of parking issues. BomboBar is a walk-up-to-the window spot that has several stools and a few tables within its patio. I loved that there was heat available within its patio area which was sheltered during the time of my visit due to seasonal weather change. Since the monitors were not working, and some of the pictured items of my interest shared on Yelp were not available, an employee helped me with ordering. The employee shared with me images inside of a clipboard of what is featured. The chocolate peanut butter shake - gelato shake was the item that captured my interest. At the time, it was what my tastebuds craved other than something featuring a brownie. Eventually, I would like to try more on their menu whether it be another gelato shake, one of its hotter chocolates, a housemade gelato, or some of its bomboloni selections featured. Likely, the s'mores - hotter chocolate would be what I would order on a follow up visit due to what it consists of. I surely cannot complain about the service. My chocolate peanut butter shake was completed in a reasonable time. I had the biggest smirk on my face after taking every sip of its chocolatey peanut buttery taste, and as I tried to eat every single bit of reece's pieces at the bottom, hehe. Now that I have finally visited BomboBar and had a pleasant experience, I am quite positive that I will re-visit when in the area. ~Blessings~ Thomas G read more

We came here for dessert based on the yelp/Google reviews. Although what we had was delicious, it wasn't anything special. Ordered 3 Bombolini's (basically a warm holeless donut with sugar on the outside), with 2 dipping sauces (vanilla cream and strawberry). It was fun to try once but probably won't be back for these. I will go back to try the gelato, though! read more
This place wasn't anything special and I don't think I'd go back. I was so confused where to enter because the side of the building has like a walk up window and the front says something about a bar, I was confused if I was to go in the door that was in the front where is said bar or if I was to go it to the walk up window. The donuts weren't anything special. read more
We found a this little gelato donut place when we were craving a late night dessert. Line was long, we probably waited 30-45 min. We were visiting the area so just wanted to give this place a try. - Nutella bomboloni (3/5): the chocolate just tasted like chocolate syrup and not Nutella so I was disappointed. The actual donut is described as an Italian holeless donut. But it was not that flavorful, just tasted like dough with a bit of sugar. - Strawberry shortcake gelato (3.5/5): this was pretty good, really sweet. BomboBar is cute and all but honestly was meh imo! You order through a window on Green Street. They only have limited outdoor seating. The tables outside were filthy with melted ice cream drops and sticky chocolate. It looked like they haven't been cleaned after multiple customers earlier in the day. We ordered 3 Single Scoops. Strawberry Cheesecake, S'mores, and Cookie Monster. It took over 15 minutes for us to get our scoops?... And literally no one ordered before us. I believe 2 people ordered after us and they were also wondering why their order was taking a while. I mean we didn't order donuts so we personally thought scooping up 3 scoops of ice cream should not have taken this long. The scoop portions themselves were okay for $5. But the taste was really nothing special. They are known for their donuts though so maybe those are better? I wanted to like Bombobar and maybe this was just a bad experience, but I don't think I will be back. read more

This place is the bomb ~ This is a must stop spot in Chicago if you have a big foodie in your group. It's so fun! I came with some girlies for breakfast and we ended up trying all kinds of different menu items. I opted for the Nutella and a St. Patrick's Day special Bomboloni because it looked super cute. It was beyond satisfying to pump the Bomboloni full of Nutella. Although I wouldn't say that this was one of the best treats I've ever had, it was definitely a memorable experience for my friends and I. The employees also were so nice! One went out of his way to try to print our photo on a latte. We didn't even ask, he just wanted to do something fun for us. They really went out their way to treat us well. 2 stars for the friendly service and donuts and hot chocolate presentation, otherwise they'd get 0 stars. The donuts were dry, actually hard inside. Hot cocoa wasn't very good but looked cute. For the price $$ I was very disappointed! read more

Is there any bombolinis without the filling?
No. I think that is the nature of the dessert. That it has a filling. Otherwise its just a donut.

You can easily get free parking around on inner streets . Might have to search and walk a block or so ... but it's very easy ..

I went in the winter. I didn't see any dogs.
How are the prices?
My drink was 9 dollars but it was big and it has a lot of things. It was very worth it, they have many options under 9 dollars for drinks.
Are the lines crazy long on a Wednesday evening?
I do not think they are long during the weekdays as much as the weekends. But the times i've been there the line moves fairly quick.
Are the hotter chocolates on their menu year round?
Nope, I went last week and they switched the Hotter Chocolate to an iced version called the Cooler Chocolate. Still very good though.
Is there an inside area for eating as well?
Yes! You can eat at the bar, or a high top table!
Would I still be able to eat a bombolini even if I came late or would they run out?
They make them until they close. So yes!
