Came here with the girlys for some delish breakfast food and pie! There was a line out the door (which can be intimidating) but I promise it goes by fast! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Their outdoor space makes you feel like you're having a nice picnic outside. It was so hard not getting each flavor of pie. They rotate their pie flavors I just don't know how often. I don't really like pie too much but this place knows how to make them. I ended up getting the matcha smores and the sweet corn cheesecake. The matcha smores was good but the matcha flavor was lacking - just tasted more like fudge/chocolate. The sweet corn cheesecake was so good!! I also got the gravy biscuit with an added egg and chicken sausage as well as the quiche. Both were so good!!! The biscuit is fresh and well seasoned. Good amount of gravy. Loved the arugula salad the quiche came with. Both very solid and I would 100% get it again. Great neighborhood place!

Biscuit & Gravy with The Works

Friendly service, I was greeted as I walked in and was able to order right away. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with the works. The biscuit itself was super fluffy, and not too dense which made it enjoyable to eat and not get stuck in your throat. The egg was served round, atop the biscuit and it was surprisingly over easy with a runny yolk. The sausage tasted amazing with a very strong fennel flavor, which I liked. The gravy... Well, probably not the best Ive had but with everything else so good on the plate, it's easy to overlook that. I enjoyed the outdoor bench seating, although there are indoor tables available as well. A really nice experience and some really good food here!

We tried a slice of the smore pie and a slice of the cherry berry pie. Both were fantastic. I'm partial to berry things, so that was my fave. Very very good. We got a frozen chicken pot pie to take home and bake ourselves. We split it between 7 of us and it was a good amount for us. Most of our group weren't all that hungry, so it ended up being enough, but if we had been hungrier, we probably would've needed more food. But man, it's a great chicken pot pie! Very very delicious. Would absolutely get it again. Some of the pies were sold out when we showed up midweek around 2 or 3. But we were able to get full size frozens no problem. Good spot! First heard about this place from somebody feed Phil. Thanks for the rec Phil!

Traveled a good distance to pick up a pie because all of their pies are exceptional. This time the blackberry-lime-basil pie truly peaked my interest. While there, we were drawn in by the cozy eat-in area and patio. The biscuit sandwiches are now a new obsession. In particular - the chicken sausage, cheese and peach habanero jam (OMG) was plate licking delicious as was the biscuit and sage gravy and biscuit. We will definitely be back for the exotic flavors of pot pies and of course the featured pies of the week. Service was very good. You order at the counter and they deliver to the table. We had a lot of questions and they were all knowledgeable and kind. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but so worth it. P.S. definitely grab a cup of coffee when you visit. They sell it by the bag as well.

I love love love having a neighborhood pie place! How charming They have an outdoor patio that's perfect for breakfast and a rotating pie selection that keeps you on your toes. They are my go-to for holiday pie orders, such a fun statement piece to bring to gatherings. And they have grits!

Franken-Pie

I love that they change up their pie flavors regularly. On our most recent visit, we stopped in and ordered a Frankenpie - three different slices of pie in a half-pie container. We'd ordered it to go, so we sat at the counter and waited well over a half hour for our pie to be ready. It wasn't just us waiting, as we saw a few other people go up and ask about their order. I'm not sure why they were so backed up that simple pie orders couldn't be resolved more efficiently. If anything, I wish we'd been informed while placing our order at the counter that they were backed up and could expect a wait. It is good pie though, so I'm sure I'll give it another shot.

Everything we got was great except the mint chocolate pie was just okay. I loved the chicken pot pie. The outdoor seating is really cute and the service was good.

Great selection pies each week/month that typically unique, non-traditional flavors! Love their option of the "Frankenpie" which is a fun way to try a slice of everything being offered. The key lime is a staple that is always available and it truly is bright, tart, and delicious! The cafe is very cute and staff is friendly. They even have a "pie garden" out back to sit and enjoy your goodies. I have yet to try their savory options but have heard great things.

Sweet biscuit - strawberry passion fruit jam + butter

I finally made it to Bang Bang!! I've been in the city for a long time and I've had their pie via delivery but never the elusive biscuits. I found myself in the area early enough in the day to stop by. I kept it really simple: one sweet and one savory biscuit. I loved the sweet one with the seasonal jam: strawberry passionfruit I think. The biscuit was incredible. What biscuit dreams are made of! It's nice inside, very cute. It is small, though, so if it's not a nice day to enjoy their outdoor patio, you might be taking it to go. Wait time was fine since I wasn't in a hurry, but something you should be prepared to wait on. Staff was friendly! I look forward to coming back here soon and trying a few more menu items, especially the PIIIIIE!

Chicken Pot Pie

It was my first time at Bang Bang Pie today, but it won't be my last. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. It had a nice crust and was chock-full of chicken pies and plenty of veggies. I had their Toasted Coconut Pie for dessert, and my friend ordered the Key Lime Pie. We topped it off with good coffee. I didn't like two things: the door to the outside eating area was left open most of the time, and it was still a little chilly this morning. I can't understand why a person doesn't have the mind to close the door automatically, regardless of the weather. The music was a little too loud for me. There are only four tables inside and plenty of room on the patio.

If you are in the Windy City, you must stop and get a biscuit from bang bang pie & biscuits! They homemade jam and butter, I could melt just thinking about it. We weren't hungry enough to get pie, but I regret not trying the pie. The staff was nice and the restaurant was clean! I have already told my sister to stop here when she visits the Windy City and I will be dreaming of warm yummy biscuits.

Sausage biscuit with egg and habanero jam
Kyle G.

Very good brunch spot! I had the sausage biscuit with an egg and the habanero jam, which was very good. My wife had the mushroom quiche which was one of the best quiches I've ever had. Quality of food is very high but I think it's a little expensive for the portions (it's Chicago though, so it's expected). Definitely arrive before 10am on a weekend or you'll be waiting for quite a while.

Nicole B.

I've been eyeing Bang Bang on Instagram for forever, so I finally decided to treat myself to a solo date there. Despite the cold and rainy weather (meaning their cute outdoor space was closed) and the tiny indoor space being completely packed, I wasn't discouraged. I grabbed my biscuit to go--and I'm so glad I did! The service was friendly and welcoming, and I was encouraged to try the candied bacon. While the bacon on its own didn't totally wow me, putting it between one of the fluffiest biscuits I've ever had (and I'm from the South, so that's saying something) was a game-changer. I'll absolutely be returning for that biscuit for sure! Be prepared to wait in a line and although a small menu, the biscuit is all you need.

Not absolutely sure but they have an outdoor space as well and it looks like a place that would be.

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

Got there 10 minutes early and were seated immediately and served water. Our two top gave me a look at the open kitchen, and My wife a view of the dining room from side to side. Both decent views. Even though they set us 10 minutes before our 7 pm reservation, the server indicated our first course would come out around 7:15 - 7:20. They must do this to keep everything on pace for the overall service. Once the courses started coming the pacing was awesome and we made it through the 11 course meal by 9 pm. The pairings were very good. There was one cocktail and one rice wine mixed in, and only 1 red. We thought they could have mixed in another red as the profile of the whites kind of got monotonous. But all in all very good. On to the food. The only course that wasn't very very good was the first one - the kinilaw which is like a Filipino ceviche. It was tasty, but maybe needed some texture and a little more salt even though it had a good amount of caviar. The second dish was the oyster and shrimp toast which I thought might end up being my favorite. It tied for my wife'sfavorite. Very good and tasty and savory. The third course was their take on lumpia that you wrapped up and ate in a rice paper wrapper. Several courses were eaten by hand so very the meal felt very interactive. I'll skip some dishes description for brevity sake but the next dish that fought for best dish contention was what they called sinigang, basically a seared piece of mackeral in a tangy spicy broth. I like acid and heat and this one barely beat out the shrimp toast in my opinion. The Adobo that was prepared with mussels and king trumpet mushrooms was another dish that exceeded expectations. But the winner for me, and tied with the shrimp toast for my wife was the squab and dirty rice. So savory, tender and flavorful. Just a great dish and one that we typically wouldn't order a la carte. Many times on tasting menus the pastry part of the menu seems like an afterthought, but not at Kasama. I didn't get a picture somehow, but the truffle croissants were so excellent, sweet and savory at the same time, just really hard to explain how good they were. The other two desserts and the guava and cheese cake they sent home with us were good, but the croissants were to die for. Service was also solid - Our server Josh answered all our questions with enthusiasm. So Kasama deserves its two Michelin stars. Great meal and one of the most interesting Michelin meals we have ever had.

I bought 3 and my friend got 2. Calamansi cream + pistachio paste danish was my favorite. The Calamansi cream was the perfect texture and density with a fragrant citrus note. When I took a sip of coffee afterwards it made my coffee taste like I was drinking fresh orange juice. The pistachio is more cake like inside than full paste and isn't too sweet. Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection.
