However, it took a while for our server to acknowledge us, even though she had passed our table several times. We decided on the AYCE menu, which allowed us to order up to 5 rounds, with premium items limited to one order. Our group only made it through 2 rounds. The food came out relatively fast, and the standouts were the chicken hibachi, popcorn shrimp, and premium sushi. The restaurant itself was pretty, trendy, and seemed like a cool place to visit, but the food was nothing too special, especially for the price. I would definitely come back and give it another try for a better experience.

We went and got the AYCE premium menu (which is ridiculous that you have to choose the premium for nigiri and sashimi but whatever), and upon seating they give you a paper menu to write down your order. We got their premium box which is like $25 or $26 off of their à la cart menu and while it's super pretty to look at it was disgusting. The Wagyu was thick, slimy, and chewy and made me want to throw up. The toro had wayyyyy too much wasabi in it and felt like torture to eat. The other two pieces were ok but if I paid à la for it I'd be PISSED. The rolls and nigiri and sashimi were a mixed bag, some were okay, some were slimy, and some were just dry. The cooked food was decent but not very flavorful, my siblings favorite dish of the night was the cooked bulgogi which I found to be chewy and you guessed it, flavorless. Service left much to be desired, there's an hour 30 minute time limit on AYCE and you get four rounds total. They take your paper in the back to put in your order and don't bring it back out until all of your order has come out(which fair), but it takes about 30ish minutes per round and having to flag someone down to take your paper back is a pain. I think if they had tablets or maybe a call button that would be better? Unsure. Regardless the food quality needs a major upgrade to make it worth the price.

The broth could have had more notes to it, but it had enough bold flavor that I'd continue to slurp. Their chashu was big and thick, but stayed tender. I've had chashu at places like Marumen where it was rock hard so I appreciated Kozy did a much better job. The noodles were nothing to rave about; very regular noodles. The service was super attentive and respectful. Is this the best ramen in the DMV? I wouldn't say so, but for Annandale, I was genuinely surprised and would try them again if I was in the area. Much better than Tanpopo!! (The previous ramen shop that was there before them)

Miso broth was decent, but not as hot as I typically like it. 8/10 broth flavor. Noodles are the right "thicker & curly" style, but were overcooked by a noticeable amount. They should be slightly chewy, IMO. I regret not specifying more "QQ" or chewy al dente when I ordered my Ramen bowl. In Japan it is fairly common to be able to choose from several levels of noodle firmness/doneness. The environment is like a food hall restaurant - with shared bathrooms in the main concourse of the building. The bathrooms were messy and wet everywhere - not pleasant. Overall the building seemed more than a bit crusty - not the most appetizing backdrop. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars for this one. I am rounding up. This is pretty much exactly a 3.5 star experience.

I'd heard about this style of dish before and had been wanting to try it, so of course I had to! I stopped in on a Monday in the middle of the afternoon, and there were already about 4-5 tables occupied, which I took as a good sign! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and seated promptly. I ordered the Chicken Curry Abura Soba, and this was definitely a hit in my book! It smelled and looked so good that I dug right in as soon as it hit the table (so please excuse the picture lol). The curry flavor was rich and full, the noodles were perfectly chewy, and the chicken was crispy on the outside while still moist on the inside. At first, I only mixed everything together slightly and thought it was delicious. But once I REALLY mixed everything and got all of that sauce from the bottom incorporated throughout the noodles? Completely different flavor experience. So good! I also ordered the pork dumplings as an appetizer. I order pork dumplings pretty often when I go out, and whatever version of them Kanjiken is doing, I really enjoyed it. The texture was giving homemade...I don't know if they actually are, but that's what it gave! Either way, they were good. To drink, I had a bottle of white peach black tea, which was crisp, refreshing, and paired really well with the meal. Overall, I highly recommend Kajiken. In fact, I'm writing this review a few days later and seriously considering heading back there for dinner tonight.

The beef with the egg yolk was very good, especially along with the spicy add-on sauce (it was spicy!). The noodles & sauce were excellent; you can order add-ons to the noodle bowls, and they come in separate dishes so you can add on yourself to create different bites, and also share. Each add-on was small and good for 1-2 people to share. Tried umeboshi (sour plum) for the first time and loved it mixed in with noodle or rice. Caution to eating by itself, it'll make you pucker up real quick. Wakame soup was comforting. They also have smaller portion rice bowls, that were plenty filling. I would recommend getting a couple add ons though, as the karrage chicken was good, but rather plain. If you like spicy, you can get it here, but you can also keep it mild. Fun dinner. Kevin was a wonderful server, answered my bunches of questions and was friendly about it. I walked in without expectations and walked out with a memorable experience and getting to try new foods. A win in my world! The inside of the restaurant is very well lit and bright. It has a bit of a high end food court, corporate feel to it. I'd go again.
