I have been to Bolay many many times. I have no idea what was going on there today. They have stepped their game up like no other and the young gentleman who took my order was so professional and polite and just all around amazing at customer service, I was blown away. He gave me really good portions and was very patient and helpful. I got the build your own bowl with the noodles and kale salad. For my veggies, I did brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes, which were absolutely incredible. My proteins were teriyaki and lemon chicken, both of which were cooked to perfection. It was the most beautiful bowl I've ever received, and it was so delicious. Pro tip you can combine the pesto sauce with the tomatoes on the side and have a little dipping tray and it's amazing. The restaurant is always vibrant and clean and there's lots of seating for small and big parties alike. Considering the ball only cost $12 and tasted incredibly. My daughter loves Bolay - the pesto noodles and the steak are her favorite. For me, I struggle with their service. I wanted to try their RainBol and asked if I could split the jasmine rice base into half rice, half kale salad. The answer came back no as it's only one base for that price. Okay. I get it. Next, I clarify the chimichurri sauce doesn't have cilantro. (Cilantro is my kryptonite). The line gal doesn't know - so she asks a line cook. Line cook 1 is gabbing with line cook 2 - they have to be actively interrupted. Yes, the tomatoes have the devils parsley - cilantro. So I can't eat that and ask for a substitute. I'm told I can only choose from toppings bar: cheese, fresh cilantro, pepperoncini's or sauces. In other words my bowl would be rice, chicken and onions - no veggies. I ask for broccoli or mushrooms. No, not an option I'm told again. That was not going to work for me. So I said no thank you. I will not purchase the bowl. I've eaten at Bolay several times.. I've been satisfied with the food but I stooped going because I thought they have reduced portion size and increased the price. I feel like it's a case of shrink inflation. We were taking the food to go, we were in and out in about 5 minutes. now for the food, although i really wanted to like it, it was not flavorful at all. The rice had no seasoning, the lemon chicken did not have a citric taste. i'm not one to add sauces to my bowls, but i had to add it to this bowl, the creamy garlic and herb sauce was really good. with that being said, it did feel very clean and healthy without the unnecessary added calories of multiple dressings and different sauces on the individual foods. The Lemon Chicken had good flavor but tasted like fatty pieces of chicken. The Chimichurri Tomatoes didn't taste fresh nor did the Zucchini. Neither had any bite to them just mushy veggies. The Pesto Noodles were okay but I wish they were more al dente. The Kale Salad was alright. The Herb Pesto Sauce was good but very oily. I did enjoy the Agua Fresca it wasn't too sweet. Holay Molay! I've enjoyed Bolay so many times in the past. It can still be good, however, I have problems with their food NOT BEING HOT!!! This happens at other locations too. It would be 5 stars if they could just consistently serve hot food. When you "walk the line" to build your bowl, it all looks amazing in these wide shallow serving vessels, but there's so much surface area exposed to the air. They recently (early 2023) re-did how you order with the bases and greens, but I think you can mix and match in the bowl. I don't have a Ph. D so you'll have to order at your own risk. With that being said, you can get some really good stuff. The sweet potato noodle/power bean combo really does it for me. I'll add chicken or tofu with some kind of sauce that almost goes with everything. Their shrimp is good too. It's also pretty Vegan and Gluten Free friendly. Their Allergen Guide on their website is one of the easiest to read! It's a good option, but it's not quite the game of Hot or Not that I want to play. But load me up with those Power Beans any day of the week, just not before a long trip! Power beans and room temperature shrimp could be an ugly mess! read more

Everyone in my party was trying to figure out, are they this cuisine or is it that? Will this work, why do they have that sauce? What I ended up with tasted ok, but didn't really work as well as I think it could. If there is a next time, I would skip out on the sauce, stick to rice and maybe a protein or veggies only. Maybe the suggested bowls are the move? This location was not particularly clean either. I normally get the large bowl with sweet potato and cilantro noodles as my base. I get the balsamic mushrooms, power beans and I get the lemon chicken as my protein.
