I used this moving service for both moving in and out of a small apartment that required a background check. They were incredibly responsive and provided all the necessary documents for my building to approve. Discounting the travel time, they managed to move everything from my old place to my new apartment (which was on a different floor) in a maximum of 2 hours. I didn't find any dents or scratches on my belongings. I highly recommend them; they are very professional and exceptionally efficient. The workers are possibly the most complacent, lazy and unprofessional personnel I've ever encountered in my life. They complained as soon as they entered my small 2 bedroom apartment which does not hold much. Complained about how heavy the boxes were. Like, THIS IS YOUR JOB. Their truck was not even half full yet and they left to the new destination leaving 3/4ths of the things behind. just moved 1 bedroom apt to another through BOK. I read alot of reviews and was a bit worried but went with them anyways bc it was recommended by the condo I was moving into. 5+1 manager came, moved all the stuff out in about 30-40 mins, took my bed apart and also my big fridge partially. Was done with unloading in 20-25 mins. and i have alot of stuff. overall, very fast, good communication, Peter the manager sent COI and arranged the move for both my old and new apartments a week in advance so it was all good. few tips are 1. you have to tip the movers, it's pretty normal thing to do. also Peter mentions it when he was giving the quote that it's $$$+tip. i gave around 25-30/person but should be more if your place is alot bigger. 2. tell them exactly or little more than what you expect to move. they didn't ask for more in my case. 3. have drinks ready at least. they will appreciate that. read more

I was blown away by the great service that Bok provided for my move. It was a tough move with lots of stairs but the team was strong and diligent to move quickly, safely, and carefully. Setting up the move was quick and they showed up on time. I would highly recommend Bok Moving for anyone looking for good value and a quality experience. Ask for Peter to help with the details. They packed my house in NJ and moved everything into storage on Long Island. I asked them to not pack anything liquid since we were going to a storage unit. Someone didn't listen and packed a gas can that luckily only had a small amount of gas in it. 3 months later, 2 boxes reek of gas but nothing permanently damaged. A lot of my furniture arrived pretty damaged. Overall, there are movers who charge the same but will actually be careful with your stuff and not pack gasoline! read more

Just updating my review :) I recently moved out of the house to Long Island City. My apartment is considered a luxury apartment and they required quite a bit paperwork (insurance and time of move etc.) Unlike some other moving companies I called, BOK had insurance and all the paperwork my apartment needed. I didn't have to talk to my apartment because of Peter, who handled all the paperwork for me I moved for $450 from Ridgefield Park to LIC, I did find other places that were slightly cheaper $380 & $400 I think, but none of them had the required paperwork (one place actually told me they can't do it -_- because they don't have insurance if they end up scratching the building or causing damage) The move was good! They did arrive 10 mins late, but they called me 30 mins before letting me know that the traffic was causing them a slight delay. I took the day off, so it didn't matter for me. 4 people came including Franciso, one of them had a bit of broken English, but I had no trouble with the move. I actually tipped them quite a bit because this was my third time using them, and I was super content with it. read more

I have seen their trucks around the Northern New Jersey area quite a bit. I gave them a call, received a quote and was able to find out their availability right away. The place I was moving into needed a Certificate of Insurance and they took care of that without extra charge which some places do. They arrived right on time with three men and were able to pack efficiently and carefully. They were all very polite and respectful of your belongings (ie no throwing or forcing things into doorways). I am real leery of moving companies because of a bad experience I had a few years ago with one company I chose Bok based on a recommendation from a friend that has used them several times. They arrived right on time and were super fast but were very careful with my furniture. Everything was wrapped and anything that they disassembled was put back together at our new home with no problems. We did tip them without them asking us, but they did a great job so I had no problem throwing them some cash. Would recommend for a local move. read more

BE CAREFUL -- I don't know what's up w/ the ppl who gave these guys 4-5 stars, but they must be getting paid from Bok or friends/family b/c you def get what you pay for and sometimes, that results in PETTY THEFT. I already had a bunch of boxes (no furniture), packed and ready to go sitting in my parents' garage. All they had to do was load up and unload at the destination. 3 guys start complaining about the # of boxes, but I didn't have any furniture so what the hell were they complaining about?? Plus, there were 3 of them! They ended up nickel and diming me and charging me $50 EXTRA dollars on the spot. I didn't understand it. We get to the destination and they unload, but a lot of glasses and fragile items were broken. They also kept a box marked "kitchen" b/c I'm missing baking pans, but have the lids. I'm missing a big pot, etc. We called the manager of the company but of course, he said that he never had this problem. Excuse me? Be careful -- these guys talk a big game, but I wouldn't trust the 4-5 star reviewers on this sight. I should have gone w/ a more reputable company, and paid a bit more b/c now, I have to pay to replace my kitchen pots/pans. It's frustrating. read more

THIEVES. Consider yourself warned; do not use this moving company. They are unethical, manipulative, greedy and belligerent. My husband and I truly regret our decision to use them. We moved recently and it's already difficult enough with an infant, but BOK made our experience a true nightmare. We sought them out because their rates seemed the cheapest but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and with BOK, you get horrifying "service." Peter, the supervisor, charged us for requiring a COI (certificate of insurance). That was the first red flag. Moving companies should not charge you extra for this. I tried to negotiate, especially since we had very little furniture and were moving from a 1 BR, but Peter wouldn't budge. Their rates still seemed cheaper than the competitors so we stuck with them. Then, the day of the move came. Peter was nowhere to be seen; he sent us 4 guys with limited English. The foreman immediately started complaining that we had "too many boxes" and said that the job would require "more tip." I have never had the employee of any business demand more tip, let alone before the job was complete. We nearly got into an argument with him at this point because he was rude and increasingly aggressive. There was one young mover who actually did his job and tried to wrap our furniture and move the boxes in a nondestructive way but there was another mover who was obnoxious enough to say to me "you want that moved? You bring it to me" and "why you need to move that?" He wasn't joking. I just stared at him like he was out of his mind. What was I paying them for?? When we arrived at our new place, the elevator was unfortunately out of service. Our unit was on the 4th floor. Were stairs an option? Yes. Would it be optimal? No, but at least the alternative was there PLUS WE HAD SIGNED A CONTRACT. My husband and I were upset and of course tried to contact the elevator service but couldn't get an estimate of when they would come for repairs. Of course, this was the perfect opportunity for the foreman to start demanding even "more tip" and he turned his aggression up. We spoke to Peter on the phone and explained the situation. He immediately said "TWO HUNDRED dollars more" and wanted to know when the elevator would be fixed. We told him that we hoped the situation would be rectified and in the meantime, we would provide lunch for the workers. We bought everyone a gourmet sandwich and drinks--none of the cheap stuff. I had to go feed the baby and my husband stayed behind with the workers. This is when things got SHADY. The foreman and his workers began to complain loudly that it was "too much work" for them. They told my husband that they did not want to complete the job that day and would "come back tomorrow." Are you kidding me?? Our worldly possessions were packed into that BOK truck, all we had was the clothes on our back and these guys were telling us adios? I called Peter thinking that he would give me a rational answer but this was his response: "My guys don't want to do it." I said to him, "What do you mean?" He repeated himself and I told him to get his guys moving and that they were NOT leaving with our things. Then he began SHOUTING AT ME "THIS IS YOUR FAULT, now that I think about it, everything, the elevator, is your fault!!" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He was 1) blaming me for a broken elevator 2) telling me he couldn't get his own employees to do their job. I tried to calm him down and said that we weren't blaming anyone but that we needed our belongings moved per our agreement. It was absurd but he continued to be angry with me over the phone. In the end, he said he couldn't get his men to agree to move our things even with a TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR INCREASE. The movers, meanwhile, wouldn't budge and we had to get a translator to understand their demands. They wanted more money, a LOT of more money as "tip," their favorite word of the day. I believe the foreman and Peter had this all planned out and put on a mighty good show so that they could both rip us off. The total amount that we had to pay including the required "tip" was DOUBLE THE AGREED UPON PRICE. Honestly, we should have gotten the police involved but the sun was nearly setting at this point and we had a baby so we agreed...but you do not have to suffer what we went through. I'm reporting them to the BBB and letting the community know how poorly this "business" is run. I hope you'll take my advice and use any other moving company but BOK. It's a shame I have to give even 1 star to these crooks. read more

OK, use at your own risk. I see some people had good experiences. Fine, good for them. But l got burned real bad and I'm going to give some advice for other people who might be able to learn from my experience. Here are some scams they are good at to jack up the price, on moving day. 1) Their specialty is to give you a low quote, talk real nice, but on moving day change their tune and things get real bad real fast. They're typical con artists. 2) On moving day, when you can't back out, they say they have to raise the price because there is more stuff then they thought. What are you going to do? Pay cash, pay up, of course. They got you. 3) If you're unlucky enough to live in the city, they're gonna double park. At the end of packing the truck, suddenly they find an orange parking ticket. They show you real quick. It's something like $200 or $300. They force you into splitting the cost. OK. What you're going to do? Your stuff is in the truck already. Pay up, sucker. Lesson: They low ball the quote, but then find ways to up the price once they have your stuff hostage. Either way, you end up paying way more then you originally bargained for. And the stress means you're just going to pay up because you just want to end the whole ordeal. Like I said, do what you want. It's your money. Just be ready for their games and BS. A mixed bag experience. I've used them in the past and have had good experiences with. This one was frustrating at the end. Pros: Price is decent before tipping. Workers are nice. They do a great job. Quickly packed up and out in 1.5 hours. (Full house) They even wrapped the furniture that was going into storage. Cons: They were late almost an hour. No communication about lateness. Tipping was an issue. The lead guy demanded 30-40 bucks for tip per person and gave us a disgusted look while shaking his head at the tip we gave (over 25 per person) and what we thought was a fair additional amount. He tried to guilt us more. Overall it's a cheap option but know the tipping is the major sore spot. They're very careful and pretty efficient. Fast, expansive, and does nice jobs. Proffessional. Three things that I didn't really like. 1. Two guys keep spitting on the ground. That was little disgusting 2. They ask us to buy their lunch. Which I have to pay my own money 60 dollars plus pick up the food for them. That was extra 60 dollars plus from my own pocket, other than actual moving fee. 3. They ask you for 20 dollars tip for individuals. Which one mover team is 6 people. Thats extra 120 dollars from my own pocket, other than actual moving fee. so there are hidden fees that pretty much forcefully pay for it. So IF they give you $ 1,400 four bed rooms than you are actually paying close to $ 1,600 end of moving day. By the way, there is no insurance even if they break something. (But they try to do very very carefully job) If something breaks, they give 60 cents per pound. Yes, per pound. Not by what items. Other than extra money issue, they do top notch jobs in very fast time. P.S. by the way, even though they were cateful most of my furniture were dent it and chip it somehow. read more

This company deserves a less than 0 rating. From start to finish, Bok Moving was incredibly SUSPICIOUS, SKETCHY, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Not only did they not follow through with the specific trucks we ordered (ultimately leading to us move a quarter of the house ourselves in order to avoid another $1000 fee), they also damaged the furniture, improperly handled a baby grand piano, and stole a piece of technology. After reading the many other reviews about Bok Moving stealing items and attempting our own personal resolutions with the company, we were left with no compensations or options regarding our stolen item. The second truck and team that arrived were irritable, aggressive, and intimidating throughout the entire time. They were constantly rolling their eyes, scoffing at the number of boxes left, and speaking angrily about how we had too much stuff and how they wanted to get home. At one point, the leader of the crew yelled at my daughter for her heavy boxes. We are completely aware that this sort of profession is extremely taxing and laborious. Nevertheless, there is a standard of professionalism and civility to be upheld. While we maintained our patience with them, it is incredibly disappointing and honestly infuriating that Bok Moving did not. All in all, Bok Moving is unprofessional, careless, and most importantly, EXTREMELY SKETCHY in the company's entire operations. There are never ending miscommunications and inappropriate behaviors from the Bok Moving team. I very strongly suggest that everyone and anyone who cares about their sanity and personal belongings to stay as far away from Bok Moving as possible. read more

SUPER EFFICIENT... SUPER FAST... (sometimes some brute force is required in moving...) and SUPER FAIR PRICING OVER THE PHONE... in the moving game, you can't have everything... Peter from BOK provided me with a back to school move, We literally moved on 3 hours notice... tipped them pretty fairly... REMEMBER, A SAFE/GOOD TRIP DESERVES A BIG TIP... The total move, from Fort Lee, NJ to Ridgewood, NJ, (3 BR two family house, to 3 BR two family house, included small up right piano, king size bed, and 2 twin beds, frames and all), everything was done for a total of $600.00. We realized we have one scratched/chipped king size bed frame... nothing I shed a tear over... We have 2 rug rats, (8 and 10 years old)... very well could have been attributed to my children... Would highly recommend BOK, especially if you are bilingual Korean/Spanish like I am. The muscles/labor/brawn is primarily Spanish speaking, while the driver, and authority/master/brains of the move is primarily Korean speaking. BEST MOVERS ever!!! read more

Bok movers just finished my move and I'm extremely pleased. Not only were they the cheapest, they did the entire move in less then 4 hours (granted I moved 3 blocks away). They did not break anything and all boxes were placed right side up. They arranged everything where I wanted it and they were courteous and friendly. They were 5 guys. I would definitely use them again and recommend them. Only suggestion I would have is that you should provide them with water bottles (poor guys were sweating and I had nothing to give them!!) read more

I've moved than ten times thus far (yeah, my family does a lot of moving), and we've used Bok moving a number of times. However, during the last move (April 2010), I had a very bad moving experience with them. First of all, some of our plastic bins filled with clothes were broken. These workers are probably forced to take at LEAST 3 boxes with them into or out of the moving truck. Basically, they want to save money because we all know time equals money. However, it comes at the price of these men carrying more than they can handle, which resulted in a coupe of dropped boxes and broken bins. What was more surprising is that the worker got his hands on my Nintendo DS which was back in the box for protection. Either on the truck or in the bathroom, he took the Nintendo DS unit along with the charger. He left the empty box in one of the broken bins filled with my mom's clothes. When my mom was unpacking her clothes, she found an empty Nintendo DS box. We called the Bok Moving Co. office only to get the answer of "Our workers are still out. We'll call you back tomorrow." They never called us. We even gave them LOTS of tip because they were breaking their backs. I gave one of them a stereo unit and another worker some speakers that I wasn't using, all for one of them to steal from me. Workers (obviously not all) are dishonest. Worst of all, management doesn't seem to care, as long as they got their money in cash. I may use them again if we moving anytime in the future, but for this one experience I had, I leave them with a 1-star rating. Perhaps they'll straighten up by the time I move again. read more

$150 for moving 1 washing machine 10 miles and no installation required. Got a complaint on route that they were not tipped when they picked up - I told them they would get something at the destination. The only good part was they arrived on time. I would actually give minus stars to this company if I could. I don't even know where to start to explain how unprofessional and horrible their services are. Too many things that I can't really explain all in detail here so here I put together the list of problems with this company. 1) They change their words and lie about their schedule without properly notifying or asking me. Very disrespectful about your time. They initially said MAX 5 days - changed that to 7-8 days to get my stuffs, but I received my stuffs after two weeks. AND they made an excuse by saying that the delivery schedule can unexpectedly change - and of course, they did NOT inform me about such an uncertainty. 2) Things come HORRIBLY damaged. They advertise themselves as "professional" movers skilled for the move of expensive furnitures like piano. I was particularly careful about the move of my piano because even a minor bump can really affect it in a substantial way. The movers in NJ did the job as expected. They tied up the piano onto this specialized platform/dolly for moving piano and then hand-carried it down the stairs. HOWEVER, the movers in your destination are NOT the same movers who move your stuffs from the origin. It seems like they move stuffs from the truck in your departing location and hand them off to another truck which will then take your stuffs to your destination. The movers at the destination were NOT professional movers at all. The movers in my destination treated my stuffs in a very rough way and hell ya, they DO NOT know how to move piano. First of all, the ropes that initially tied my piano onto that specialized platform were TAKEN OFF - and they should NOT be taken off because then the piano will not be tightly locked to minimize the movement inside the truck. Then the piano is allowed to freely jump and move inside the truck during the driving, which consequently damages all those sensitive parts of the piano. I was already HORRIFIED about this, but then the worse thing is the way that these movers carried my piano up the stairs to my new place - you were supposed to hand carry the piano without making contact with the floor (to avoid any bumps) - these people almost threw my piano at every stair that they were moving up. They basically lifted my piano and then hard bang it on the stair as they tried to move it up - EXCUSE ME??? AND YOU ADVERTISED YOURSELVES AS PROFESSIONAL MOVERS FOR PIANO HUH??? There were other numerous troubles that I went with these movers already (which I don't have an enough space to mention, unfortunately. A long story short, these movers do YELL at you), so I already gave up on making further fights with them. I decided to claim all these with the main company after everything was over. And the problem didn't end there. After having my piano moved, I checked up on it and realized that one of the wheels of the piano was completely smashed and broken, making me wonder how they treated my piano on the way. I mean, how much force do you have to give to the piano to have the piano wheel (which is a very strong castor) completely broken like that? I almost fainted at this point. And these movers were not even apologetic. They tried to run away before I noticed the problem and then I stopped them after seeing the broken wheel - and they were like yelling at me again, saying that "talk to the company to get it reimbursed, okay?" - yup, that's how much unprofessional these people are. 3) After all the mess, I tried to get the compensation for the damage and of course, the company changed their words again - these people who assured that they deliver everything damage-free were trying to avoid their faults and refused to compensate me first. There are a lot more detail in this story but I can't type all here. A long story short, they only compensated me for $250, while the repair on my piano seems like it will cost AT LEAST $600 to $1000. CONCLUSION: DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR STUFFS TO BE MOVED DAMAGED. They've moved me as a single person in manhattan from studios to 1 bedroom apts all luxury highrises to now a 3 person family with lots of things to pack & move. Using them again today to move our 3 bedroom out of the city to the hamptons. they always get the job done. Take care with tv's, bed, etc. IF YOU WANT ULTRA CAREFUL MOVERS FOR STUFF THAT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT LIKE ANCIENT MAYAN ARTIFACTS THAT WEIGH 500 POUNDS, THIS IS NOT THE COMPANY! I have expensive custom italian leather beds, sofas, chairs, dining table, etc. and all the times they have moved me, they broke maybe 3 water cups which is amazing. Ive used other companies in the past with terrible experiences. TIP IS ALWAYS EXPECTED WHEN YOU HIRE A MOVING COMPANY! I always give them at least $50-70 per person as tip additional to the moving cost plus lunch if they are working a full day. I know this because I am korean and this is a korean moving company who are extremely efficient and handle the details well. DO NOT HIRE THEM IF U R NOT GOING TO TIP. I've used Bok Moving in July 2012. Their packing job was just horrible. - They put things that belong together in many separate boxes (e.g. we found 9 jar cans that were stored together in 3 different boxes) and mixed different categories (tools and cloths) in one box - They did not bother to write anything on the boxes except BR vs. bath vs. living room - When they unpacked, they didn't even adhere to that, and simply put boxes where they felt like (e.g. BR boxes were put in living room) and ignored our instructions - They put uncovered toilet stick in a mobile baby bath, generally speaking everything felt dirty seeing how they packed - The overall attitude was to finish everything ASAP irrespective of cleaningness / ease of unpacking. It took us forever to unpack. read more

When we moved last year, we got quotes from 3 different moving companies to move from a fully furnished 2BR high rise condo to a 2 story duplex. Bok gave us the best price. While the other two companies wanted $1800-$2300, Bok was a very reasonable $700. I have lots of nice and expensive things. They didn't steal anything from me or break anything or put any barely noticeable blemishes on my furniture that may or may not have already been there. In fact, they pointed out any damaged items before they even touched them. They were quick, efficient, and well worth it. We'll be using them again in a couple months when we move again. read more
