She was very motivational and also helped us adjust our resistance throughout the class. What I enjoyed about her the most is that she made everyone feel special. There was a mix of beginners and veterans of Pilates in our class and she made sure everyone felt comfortable with every movement - and helping when needed. Most of my workouts are high intensity so the change of pace was great for me! But don't get me wrong - the class was a workout! I felt stronger than ever - working in slow movements and challenging myself with each stretch. Additionally Lindsay's playlist was on point. We were able to relax and make this workout our OWN and focus on OUR strength. In addition, the studio was very charming. It's got boutique vibes, but includes all the necessities like bathrooms, showers, a changing room and some swag to purchase. Overall I was very impressed with this studio and the instructor. I felt empowered and refreshed after my workout and I can't wait to schedule another class!

I don't know what I was intimidated by, it is really easy to use and not scary! I like how they have a 'starter class' where they explain more about how to use the machine and what to do- this is what I took and was really helpful! They also showed me around the studio since it was my first time and made an effort to remember my name. I felt so comfortable! You can leave your belongings right with you, but they also have lockers. You wear sticky socks and stay on the same machine the whole class. It's dimly lit and the music is loud. They do a great job of explaining the exercises and also explaining modifications if you want to make it harder or easier. I love that it's a full body workout every time! I was sore for several days after my first class. The instructor is encouraging and gives feedback when needed as well as gives you a shoutout when she sees you doing something great! The instructors are great, the workout is hard, but what makes it so hard to love this place is the owner. Instead of caring about his members and their enjoyment of the gym, all he focuses his time on is scamming his high-paying members on late charges. So if I add myself to a waitlist, and someone drops out at midnight, and now I've made other plans - thinking I can't get in this class - he CHARGES YOU! Get this, you're next in line... you actually go and fill the spot, HE STILL CHARGES ME! #MoneyGrab The owner's waitlist policy is disgusting, it's cheap and it's disgraceful. I've contacted my credit card company and the BBB as this is the 3rd time I've attempted to reason with him on this fraud. He couldn't care less and enjoying milking his members for all their worth. $22 is charged to you if you're on a waitlist and even say NO I can no longer attempt! Honestly, it's pitiful how he's grasping for $22 straws. See pics for examples.

I always come to this place with fear, but leave feeling amazing and sore! I definitely would recommend this place to anyone!

The practice area is beautiful; they are three separate rooms, one large room where there is a barre, 4 Cadillacs, and 4 reformers, another room for gyro-tonic, and a third room with a little bit of everything. All the rooms have hardwood floors and the walls are this refreshing light green color. The place is very calming and inviting. I have taken the Core Barre class on Tuesday night at 6:30 ($20) and the Reformer class on Thursday morning at 7am ($30). I highly suggest going to the Core Barre class to get a feel for the studio and then inquire about reformer classes. Their website has a lot of information about everything they offer. Tip: This place is not easy to find. You go down Fairview toward Cameron Valley Pkwy, flip a U turn at Cameron Valley Pkwy, and then take your first left into where all of the brick buildings are. They are back left if you were standing on Fairview. I suggest leaving early for class the first time you go in case you get lost like me :) Alas, you could probably walk in to class 5 mins late if it was your first time, they are very welcoming there.

Since joining, I've lost 17 pounds through a combination of healthier eating and consistent Pilates workouts, and I truly credit Pilates for helping me build both strength and confidence. As a plus-size African American woman, trying Pilates felt a little intimidating at first. It has definitely been a roller coaster ride, challenging, humbling, but incredibly rewarding. I'm not perfect, and I'm still learning, but I am making strides every single week and becoming stronger in ways I didn't expect. One of my favorite classes (outside of Reformer Flow) is Center + Balance, and my absolute favorite instructor is JC. She doesn't just teach, she coaches. She takes the time to assist me throughout the movements, especially while I'm still in my learning phase. Whenever I'm unsure about a move or not confident in my ability, she provides constructive feedback in such a reassuring and empowering way. That kind of support makes all the difference. Overall, Pilates has been a blast, and I'm so excited to continue this health and wellness journey with Club Pilates Dilworth. If you're thinking about trying it -- do it. I currently go to a gym but let's face it...I am getting up there in age and I can't be squatting jumping and pivoting like the young peeps anymore. They have three different themes (my current gym) so I'm only going to the strength focused classes. I need something else additional. I knew there was a barre studio near me so site unseen, I signed up for a small package online. Hahaha! When ya know..ya know, ya know? (Ha!) Like my first time at a barre class 9 years ago, I was slightly petrified. I'll be the new girl...who's 9 ft tall...who's not flexible at all. I knew I would stick out like a purple unicorn in a zoo (omg lol my description is hilarious so let's go with it) but honestly I am so determined to do more for myself and health I just had to breathe through that fear and I'm glad I did. Walked into a BEAUTIFUL space and was greeted. The instructor and the receptionist were both nice. They showed me the ropes and into class I went. The class was so good and just what I needed. Fast, efficient and brutal. Those 2 lbs weights start to feel like 10 lbs quickly. There are lockers, locker room and tons of merchandise. Beautiful and clean and calm space!! If you are looking to try it, just close your eyes, buy the class and GO! Your muscles and mental health will thank you later!

I was visiting Charlotte for a long weekend and was excited to try out some new to me fitness…read morestudios. I found this studio through the ClassPass app and signed up for a BK Signature Reformer 1 class a couple days in advance of when it was scheduled. I love Pilates and have taken upwards of 100 Pilates classes on a reformer from a variety of studios, including Solidcore, JetSet, Club Pilates, and multiple local studios both in Philadelphia where I live and while traveling. I've also taken multiple classes with Ellie Herman at her studio near my home. Ellie is a well-known Pilates instructor who has trained many, many other instructors and even has Pilates equipment she designed named after her. I don't say this to brag, but to make it clear that I'm not a beginner and I know my way around a variety of reformer styles. In fact I've taken many classes on reformers in the exact same style as those in the photos BK Pilates has on their website. I'm also very diligent about reading policies and pre-class communications when I visit a new studio. And this is what BK Pilates stated in my booking confirmation e-mail: How to prepare: *Grip-socks required for class. Please alert the teacher if you have never been to a pilates class before or on any pilates equipment. *Please arrive early to class. Late more than 5 minutes not accepted into class. If new, latecomers will not be accepted into class. *If you are brand new to pilates this is NOT the class for you. Students are asked to take an introductory privates session to understand how to use the apparatuses and understand pilates and breath work. Please call the studio to set this introduction up. We will ask you about your experience when you walk in the door to understand your body further. This class is for beginners not novices. Based on that, I did not believe I had to take the introductory class since I am neither a novice nor a beginner and expected I would have a conversation with the instructor when I arrived to let her know my level of experience. Without reaching out to me in any way to have any type of conversation about my experience level though, the studio just cancelled my reservation. And they did so only an hour before the class was scheduled to start when I was heading out the door, grip socks in hand to get there early, as instructed. It was extremely disappointing, and left me with no time to find an alternate class at another studio that day. Based on how my reservation was handled and other reviews I've read, it just seems like this studio is really unwelcoming to new people and they really just want you to spend the $75 on their intro session whether you need an intro session or not. They really should just call it what it is - a $75 fee to come to the studio. Whether you're local or just visiting, there are plenty of options for Pilates reformer classes in Charlotte that will welcome you to a group class without requiring an exorbitant fee for a private intro class first. Just skip this studio and take your business elsewhere.
