The boutique style studio had a nice size workout floor with ample equipment. The class was a good pace- low impact, high intensity. Julia did a wonderful job demonstrating the exercises and making sure everyone's form was proper to get the most of each exercise. There was plenty of street and garage parking. What a great first time at Bar Method!!! It's the new year and I've said for YEARS that I need to either join a yoga studio or go back to a bar class. I currently go to a gym but let's face it...I am getting up there in age and I can't be squatting jumping and pivoting like the young peeps anymore. They have three different themes (my current gym) so I'm only going to the strength focused classes. I need something else additional. I knew there was a barre studio near me so site unseen, I signed up for a small package online. Hahaha! When ya know..ya know, ya know? (Ha!) Like my first time at a barre class 9 years ago, I was slightly petrified. I'll be the new girl...who's 9 ft tall...who's not flexible at all. I knew I would stick out like a purple unicorn in a zoo (omg lol my description is hilarious so let's go with it) but honestly I am so determined to do more for myself and health I just had to breathe through that fear and I'm glad I did. Walked into a BEAUTIFUL space and was greeted. The instructor and the receptionist were both nice. They showed me the ropes and into class I went. The class was so good and just what I needed. Fast, efficient and brutal. Those 2 lbs weights start to feel like 10 lbs quickly. There are lockers, locker room and tons of merchandise. Beautiful and clean and calm space!! If you are looking to try it, just close your eyes, buy the class and GO! Your muscles and mental health will thank you later! read more

Such a fun workout!! They have many different class times to choose from with a couple different class options. I typically take the Bar Method Express and it is 45 minutes of your basic barre workout with arms, legs, booty and abs in every workout with some stretching intertwined. They provide all the equipment you need, but wear sticky socks! They do sell them there if needed. All the instructors are really nice and provide verbal and hands on correction. I love this workout class because you never feel like anyone is watching or judging you. They have a locker room with plenty of lockers that have a key to lock, and a couple bathrooms. read more

Great retail area. Large locker room with 2 toilet stalls, a cubby area, and a large handicap accessible family friendly bathroom. I have loved The Bar Method since I began taking classes at the San Mateo, CA studio in 2012. So when a job took me to Charlotte, NC, I was so sad to have to leave Bar Method behind. But imagine how thrilled I was when I got the announcement that they would be opening a studio in South Park in 2014! I got to take community classes while they waited for the studio to open, and everything started out perfectly. I still think that The Bar Method is a great workout - it's safe, effective, and efficient. Bar Method has gotten me in the best shape of my life and for that, I couldn't be happier. I also like the instructors that the studio owner, Autumn, brought in: Lizzy, Sara, and Madeleine are all super nice, knowledgeable, and fun. However, I have one major complaint about the South Park studio, and it was enough of a turn-off to make me reconsider taking Bar classes, which I've loved for such a long time. I had multiple bad encounters with Autumn Frk, the studio owner. Much of Bar Method focuses on creating a community among clients, and classes emphasize personal attention from the teachers (it's one of my favorite things about class). However, Autumn was actively rude to me on many occasions; she rarely acknowledged me as I walked in to the studio or to class, wouldn't look at me as I said hello or goodbye, etc. I have attended class at Bar Method studios across the country (from Seattle to Florida) and have never felt as unwelcome or unappreciated as Autumn made me feel in my own home studio. I am sorry that I'm not able to give this studio a glowing review. The space looks beautiful and the other teachers seem great. Sara, Lizzy, and Madeleine all always made me feel happy to be there and excited to work out...I really liked all of them. I just can't forget or get past the bad vibes I got so consistently from Autumn. read more

This is their temporary space but that doesn't hinder the experience at all. Everyone is so friendly and greets you as you walk in. The classes have similar structure but very from day to day. No matter what the class is, I walk out sore from my shoulders down. It's a true full body workout including muscles I didn't know existed. The instructors walk around and help to make sure your posture and positions are correct and encourage you to push yourself. Overall it's a great workout with some of the nicest people. read more

I took a class this morning, with my best friend, it was our first time. We enjoyed the class but I do have one major complaint. Nowhere did we see that we needed socks. We reviewed the website prior to coming and even clicked on the "new client" tab, nothing. Once we got home we continued to review the website because we had to buy socks for $13!!! Only when we used the search bar function for "socks," did we find articles pertaining to socks. When we clicked on one blog, Beginners guide to Barre, did it say to bring socks. And at that, it was number 5. I believe information as important as, "barre requires socks," should be one of the very FIRST things mentioned, either on the landing page or the New Client page. Especially, because the socks are $13. It's the principle of the matter; 1. That information was not easily accessible; and 2. For $13, I could buy multiple socks. " read more

I had a little bit of an idea about what to expect because I'd taken a barre class before, but this was different. I thoroughly enjoyed the personalized attention the instructors give you, even with a full class. If you have any questions during, they'll come by to help and if you're working through an injury like me, they suggest modifications for you so you don't overdo it or risk aggravating your issue. The parking is plentiful, but it's in the shopping center behind Whole Foods in South Park, so allow for extra time for parking since you'll likely need to go to one of the decks if you come for an evening class. For the early morning classes, no one is usually parked in any of the spaces surrounding the front door. I liked that part after even more so. I didn't have too far to crawl back to my car. lol The workout is great and you'll definitely see and feel the difference. Classes are typically an hour. They're a little pricey, but they have specials sometimes. Some of the most fun times I've had at 6 in the morning have been here! read more

Everyone at this studio is so, so nice, plus, they have childcare!!! They are the only bar studio in Charlotte with childcare! I'm almost afraid to even write this because then the word will get out. Also, it is a great workout and the instructors make hands on adjustments that really help. You will definitely get results from this workout. read more

Use Caution ~ Easy to get Injured!!! At first I thought it was a great workout but after I injured my leg by taking a class in October, I suggest you use caution. I'm fit and have exercised all my life but I had no idea I could be injured so badly at The Bar Method. Of course, they have you sign a waiver but there is no warning. Another friend injured her feet as a lot of the exercises are done by lifting your feet. read more

Been to both South Park and Waverly Studios and absolutely love this place! The instructors and owner are so warm and friendly. After my first visit the owner followed up with me to see how I liked the class and asked if I had any concerns or questions. Every instructor takes the time to learn everyone's name. Also, they are extremely knowledgeable and really care about proper form and technique. They know exactly how to correct your body position and make sure you are getting the most out of the workout. No two classes are the same but you learn the proper foundation for barre and continue to build from there. I had tried barre at a few different studios and this was the only one I fell in love with. I have been taking classes for a year now and have passed the 100 class mark. I have never felt stronger and I see more muscle definition every day that passes. I am obsessed with The Bar Method. The instructors are fantastic; they work with you to keep you in proper form. For the most part the classes are 60-minutes long; however, you are having so much fun (while in pain ) the hour goes by quickly. After 20 plus classes, I am happy to report that I am noticing a difference in my endurance level, body and confidence level. I am an avid indoor cycling girl--but taking barre classes has helped me build stamina to continue my passion for spin. Barre is not your typical workout, although the movements are minimal, you will definitely feel the burn - do not underestimate a barre workout. A few tips I have (in my opinion) is schedule your classes in advance so you hold yourself accountable and actually attend a class. Focus on the movement and not your surroundings. Also, go in with an open mind. At first you will not know all the moves by memory, but you will eventually get the hang of it. I love that the studio offers a flexible schedule for those with a full-time job. Next stop, the century club. read more

I've been coming to Bar Method for almost a year, and I can't recommend this place enough! Before starting, I used to have the worst posture and lots of shoulder/neck/back pain from working at a desk all day. Bar Method has helped me strengthen my back and core and made me be mindful of my posture even while I'm out of class--the pain I used to have is gone completely! As soon as you walk into the studio, you will feel right at home as you are greeted by name. The studio is gorgeous and there is plenty of lockers to store your things. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, and will help you get into and stay in the proper form throughout class. They have to go through a rigorous training program to become instructors, and can help you modify throughout if you have any pain/discomfort.The workout is tough! I've found that the longer I have attended, the workout has gotten more and more challenging, which I love -- I never get bored and I always leave feeling like I have had a great workout! read more

The Bar Method has the most educated instructors in Charlotte! They actually know and understand human anatomy & physiology and correctly educate students during class on the different muscles and proper body techniques to ensure injury is avoided. In addition, the staff and instructors always greet you by name, which is unheard of today. They have created a warm, challenging, and encouraging environment that exudes excitement and diversity in every single class! As a devoted Barre3 client, I had my reservations about trying The Bar Method when we moved to Charlotte at the end of September. I am so glad I put my reservations aside! The workouts are difficult, unique, and well paced. The instructors make careful adjustments in every pose to make sure you are not going to hurt yourself AND that you are getting the most benefit from the work. It feels like you have a personal trainer actually, and that is amazing. The studio is also gorgeous, clean and has ample parking. I've been a Bar Method client since their early days in Charlotte with free community classes as they built out their beautiful South Park location. I grew up in NJ near one of the original Bar Method studios, so was very familiar with the workout and what to expect. In general, that's a huge benefit of Bar Method vs. other Barre classes - the consistency and safety of the workout, quality of the instructors and individual attention given. Bar Method goes above and beyond to ensure every person in class gets their best workout. More specifically, I love the South Park studio and their team of amazing instructors for several reasons: 1) Community created - the instructors and even other class attendees are welcoming and engaging. Even if I've been away from Bar for a few months trying other things, I'm always welcomed back with open arms - and a consistent mix of encouragement and individualized corrections. 2) Gorgeous studio - you can tell the Bar Method has a strong emphasis on the smaller details. Cleanliness and comfort are superb compared to other studios in town. 3) Ownership - I was shocked and disappointed to see another reviewer specifically call out Autumn as being rude or dismissive. This is the opposite of my experience and observation. Autumn is incredibly humble, approachable and supportive - and one of the main reasons I continue to come back. I strongly felt the need to counter this negative review since I can guarantee 99% of Charlotte Bar Method clients would agree with mine! I cannot recommend Bar Method highly enough to ANYONE. It truly is a studio that welcomes women of all ages, shapes and fitness levels (and the occasional brave men!). They're also incredibly accommodating to injuries and will work with you on adjustments. It's rare to be in a class with such a broad mix of people and get a consistently good workout - but that's what you're guaranteed there given the superb training of their instructors and proven workout methodology. read more

I am totally addicted to The Bar Method!!! The new studio in South Park is beyond gorgeous and every class I take reminds me why I love it so much. It is such a full body workout that really forces you to push yourself to see results. Autumn, Lizzy, Madeleine and Sara are all such wonderful teachers who are so knowledgable about the program. I can't recommend The Bar Method - South Park enough! Autumn and her team are dedicated, fun and energetic and make coming to the 6 am class a fun wake-up rather than a chore! I was so impressed when everyone there remembered my name after my first visit and they truly get to know each individuals strengths and play off them! I found The Bar Method DVDs a few years ago when researching different barre workouts and was thrilled when I found out they were opening a location in Charlotte!
