First and foremost, this was my first time attending NoDa Yoga, Ben Kalra was a great teacher: thoughtful, purposeful, accommodating, calming, and friendly. Unfortunately the front desk/Community Ambassador Vince Dubman (I only know his name for researching it, he didn't introduce himself) was anything but the aforementioned qualities; he was unwelcoming, curt, and frosty. It's truly saddening for a studio's first and last face a customer sees to be a negative one (when gathering my things to leave I was given nary a glance or word from the Community Ambassador). I would have happily recommended this studio to family and friends for the diversity in class offerings, however NoDa Yoga failed on their mission "to create a warm, welcoming, space for all folx". read more

I have been going to NoDa Yoga for over a year now. I love the yin & deep stretch classes. All the teachers are great. I tend to be hesitant trying new teachers and yet each one is fabulous! This is the best nook in Charlotte to roll out your mat and re-connect to yourself. The teachers are quality, with extensive knowledge and passion for their students wellbeing. The space feels like home and is beautifully decorated, simple and clean. You can find all levels of classes here. Power with a little warmth for those of you craving the push, and gentle or yin for those of you who are able to slow your pace and receive on a different level. This is truly the best yoga studio in Charlotte. Actually, now the two best studios because they just opened a second location in Oakhurst today. The space is very nice and calming. They have an expanded retail space for all your yoga needs. They have two classrooms and a soon to be massage room. They offer so many classes for every level. All the teachers are really wonderful as with all the staff. The Noda location is now donation based. This makes yoga available to all economically. The best part even is they offer $5 dollar classes for military, veterans, and front line workers. I really suggest taking a peek at their website. They provide information on all classes offered and each teacher has their own profile. This is a wonderful studio to have in the Charlotte community. read more

Because I live in Oakhurst (where they just opened a new location) and work in NoDa-this was a no brainer! But the best thing is I love this place! The vibe is chill, the staff is great, ad the owner will reach out to you personally to answer any questions or concerns. I put my membership on pause because of Covid concerns and they did not blink. They were supportive and understanding and said they will miss me! I have been to NoDa Yoga 3x this week and I am so hooked I bought a month unlimited. I am hoping to make this place a regular thing for more than a month. I have always liked yoga and have practiced here or there in different gyms, studios or college classes, but never felt "home". NoDa Yoga has exactly what I need. The class sizes are small. Instructors aren't demanding drill sergeants and have no judgment. You are encouraged to practice in a way that listens to your body and you aren't ridiculed for doing things differently. The classes are a good workout that I have been to (Vinyasa). They have a few different types of classes which I appreciate. I will be going to restorative soon. Jenny, Whitney and Dani were all great and I am excited for future classes. The studio is inviting and peaceful. Love love! read more

One of my favorite places on Earth. I've been practicing at NoDa Yoga for over a year now. The staff is great.. I love all of the teachers..literally not one that I dislike. NoDa Yoga is an inclusive studio with trauma-informed yoga teachers who aim to make yoga accessible for all. You can feel the good energy when you walk in and you'll feel lighter when you leave. Check out a restorative or yin class if you're looking for few poses and to rest and refresh. The vinyasa classes are amazing if you want a flow and then some stretching and longer holds on the floor for the last 15 minutes or so. The studio is so cute, located right above Cabo Fish Taco. I'm so grateful I found this gem of a studio...this was the first place I tried when I moved back to Charlotte and loved it. I love how they offer pay-what-you-can classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I started with those when I moved back to Charlotte and was lower on income as I was beginning a job. They also offer $10 Karma classes as another affordable option for your practice. For purely selfish reasons, I am almost reluctant to write this review. If too many people discover NODA Yoga, they will have to find a larger place to meet demand. Yet, what a wonderful experience I must share! NODA Yoga is simplified, minimalist perfection. You walk in, and there you have it; a STUDIO. No backrooms, no hallways, no lounge seating area.....a STUDIO. I laughed at the straight to the point nature of the design. It's focused and refreshing. I envy the residents of the community for having such a peaceful & welcoming place within walking distance of their homes. This was my first time there. I signed up for the "athlete's yoga" class with Courtnie. The stars aligned in my favor Thursday night, as I somehow was the only student present. Courtnie advised that the studio has a 2person minimum for classes, yet seeing this was my first visit, without me even asking, she decided we could go for 30min. I was thrilled; score- my first "private" yoga class! Courtnie was great; she helped me achieve challenging poses, explaining the alignment goals & benefits, and just totally made it a highly individualized session. The best part- she cajoled me into doing my first (assisted) forearm headstand!!! Unbelievable!!! That's not all. I didn't even realize, but we ended up going the whole hour. She never not once made any hint to the passage of time, and I was really impressed at that. She is really fantastic. Needless to say, I'm building a NODA Yoga class into my weekly schedule. read more

Noda Yoga is such a beautiful oasis. Perfect for your restorative practice. I've taken several different classes and a workshop in this space above Cabo Fish Taco. Parking is usually available on N. Davidson or in the surrounding neighborhood streets. I would give yourself five-ten extra minutes to find parking and walk to the studio before class. This studio is small and doesn't have any heated classes. That mean's you'll receive lots of attention during practice. Props are highly encouraged and their restorative classes are like are like a tune up for your brain after a busy work week. Not as power focused as other studios but a good place to revisit the foundations of your practice. read more

My first class was Deep Flow with Jenny. It was an intense Vinyasa class and I enjoyed it! It's not as hard core as hot yoga or Bikram, but it was fast paced and adrenaline-inducing. Also, the mixes used during practice are great. They get you in the mood and prepared for the 60 minutes of turns, stretches, compressions, and strengthening. I've returned quite a number of times after my first-timer class card ($21 for 3 classes, regular rates are $10 a class). I got myself a $70 - 10-class card, valid for 6 months. You can also rent mats for a $1, in case you don't have one just yet. If you are used to yoga studios with mirrors though, then this is not the place. I had to adjust to that as well, as I was used to looking at my form and had myself to focus on in the mirror with my experience with other forms of yoga. But if you want to try it, it'll be worth it! I certainly enjoyed it. Also, another thing I faced was that during my first class, I struggled with the terminology -- I'm from the Philippines -- and so following in class was a bit difficult. I didn't know then what down-dog meant or what child's pose was and there were no mirrors to look at and see what everyone else was doing. It would have helped to go through each pose or if it was described as it came. Nonetheless, NoDa Yoga is my favorite yoga studio here in Charlotte so far. It is quaint and clean, and the instructors are friendly and accommodating. They also have beautiful art pieces set up around the studio that are easy on the eyes and something beautiful to look at while in practice. read more

I had done yoga with videos, xBox and tried some large class environments for quite a while when I found Noda Yoga . With the encouragement and acceptance of the staff, my practice went to a whole new place. I started yoga for fitness and found that can be so much more through the grace extended to me there. I took my first yoga class ever at Noda Yoga about 3 years ago. Maria guided me through the amazingly informative yoga basics class as I learned the postures. As I felt more comfortable with the language I began to test out other teachers and classes. EVERY teacher at Noda Yoga is amazing! And I love knowing that depending on my mood I can pick the teacher that will provide what I need. Need a butt kicking, sweat inducing power class? Go to Jenny's class. Want to really sink into poses and learn what each posture is doing for your inner being, visit Jillian. Like a "hard" class with lots of hands on assists, go see Scott! NoDa Yoga Is a great place to discover your Yoga Practice. It is a very intimate setting. All of the instructors here are incredible. You don't do the same thing class after class, the instructors also try to tell you what the poses do for your body as well. There is Yoga for everyone Beginners or the seasoned Yogi. They have restorative Yoga, Saturday Morning Mediation. The Classes are very well priced. Drop ins are $10 and if you buy 10 classes they are $7 class for ANY Regular class. I bought a Living Social deal and have gone to NoDa Yoga several times. Megan and Jillian are wonderful teachers. The classes are small and intimate, so the teachers can assist you and modify your poses. The other yogis are very friendly and it's a great environment to try new things. In just two classes I was able to do a sustainable headstand - something I have been afraid to try in my larger classes. They also have toys / equipment to work with during class. Blocks and straps are standard, but they offer bolsters and eye bags as well as sandbags. You'll have to take a class to find out what they are for, but it definitely helped my practice and my Shavasana. read more

In January of this year I slipped on ice in my driveway and severely hurt my back and shoulders/neck. I'm in my 60's with a 25 year history of [sometimes debilitating] fibromyalgia, I knew this was not good. I started going to NODA YOGA's class Gentle Yoga For The Back & Shoulders (8:30 AM on Saturdays) with Carey Sims. This wonderful, gentle teacher is well trained in yoga for the disabled end of humanity and works so well with each of his students, I feel he gave me more mobility than even my chiropractor. I have made it to some of Jillian's wonderful Gentle Yoga classes (9:30 AM Sundays) on good days. As stated by others, this lovely studio has classes small enough for special attention. Everyone is friendly. The energy is calm and joyful. I have been out of town too often for weddings recently and cannot wait to get back to my practice with Carey Sims. read more

I found this yoga studio through a deal site and fell in love in my first two visits. The studio is small, but provides a great community of yogis. The instructors are awesome, providing guidance throughout the class and correcting postures or encouraging us to take our practice deeper when they see the opportunity. Both Jillian and Megan have been able to guide me into postures that I've always struggled with and had a lot of self doubt. I'd give NoDa Yoga 10 stars--for all of the great teachers I met and all of the super special classes that I took. My time spent at NoDa Yoga rocked! Every teacher was wonderful and I learned something new each time I attended class. On Thursday morning, I attended two wonderful classes--vinyasa with Jenny and restorative with Katie. The yoga centre is centrally located and beautifully maintained. There's a massage and a reiki area--which I'll try next time. There's a cute retail section. You can rent mats and buy water. It's very bright and comfortable. I like how there is a "buddha wall" in this yoga shala---so you'll hear the teacher say, "Turn toward the 'buddha'' instead of giving cues to turn right and left. I contacted and looked up other studios during an impromptu trip to Charlotte, but decided to go with NoDa Yoga because of their clear cut schedule online. I was pleasantly greeted when I arrived by Kaitlin and instantly welcomed into this space by the other "regulars" as well. After taking the first class with Susan, I knew this would be my home away from home studio. Nate and Whitney, two other instructors who happened to be taking that class as well, embraced me and showed me where to retrieve props and made me feel right at home. When I finally met Maria, one of the owners I felt even more at ease and comforted in this space. This is the kind of yoga studio that you hope to live near just to be with good people, good energy and maintain a good practice. I spent my 11 days in Charlotte recommending this studio to everyone that was interested in yoga or looking for a place for peace. Despite the fact that I was in Charlotte this time due to a tragic death in my family, thanks to NoDa yoga, I left feeling healed and comforted. Thank you for the amazing experience. I highly recommend this studio! Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere!
