    Gorg day!
    Ashley F.

This is by far my favorite park in Charlotte! I've been coming here for year and years and it never disappoints. This trip a friend and I had a really fun picnic and the park was bustling!! I do wish there was more parking, and there is already a good amount but it's still not enough for all of the folks always coming out. I was lucky to snag a spot from someone leaving, but it's always hard to find somewhere especially on a busy beautiful spring day. The park was so busy and yet so peaceful. There was an entire wedding taking place in the amphitheater, we say a couple get engaged and a gender reveal! It's a bot, btw!!! This was such a cool day in the park. We sat out there for hours catching up and taking in all the sights. It's so so beautiful here. It's a huge park so there is really plenty of space to setup a picnic and relax for hours without being disturbed. It's also fun to people watch. I really love this place, it's special.

Very cool spacious park. Easy to walk around and take in the beautiful scenery. The lake is spacious and nice to walk around. A few fountains that go off to add attraction. Hillside for seating and picnicking, as well as amphitheater. Seems like a great spot to bike around. Glad I stopped by here, thankful for the visit.

This is a beautiful and spacious park. A beautiful pond with a fountain in the center. Lots of trails to take. So much to see. A great place for a picnic, a run or walk. Saw lots of doggies with their owners. A beautiful amphitheater surrounded by the back of the pond. A cute bridge connects it back to the main trail. Definitely recommend! Thank you friend for taking me! I love a park!

Wonderful experience, hands down. If an out of towner ever visits the city they haven't been to any park if they don't step foot in freedom park

I love that they offer pickle ball, though I was too scared to try it this time. Instead, I enjoyed running my 6 miles on their beautiful, well-maintained trails. The park is packed with amenities--basketball courts, picturesque spots for taking photos, playgrounds for the kids, and so much more. The variety of activities available makes it a perfect spot for families, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors. Overall, Freedom Park is a wonderful place to spend the day, whether you're exercising, playing sports, or just relaxing and enjoying nature. Highly recommend!

Visiting family in Charlotte this weekend and opted to come here with our little ones. The pond and walking trails are absolutely beautiful and so nice to walk around. Lots of families were out and about which also made this very inviting. Aside from walking trails, there are also a couple different playground areas with age-specific activities in each one. Our two-year-old loved the obstacle courses, swings, and blue slides. Next time we're in town we'll be back!

This 98 acre expansive park located in Charlotte NC, offers something for everyone. The park has paved trails, tennis and volleyball courts, sport and athletic fields, picnic areas, restrooms, a steam locomotive, bike rentals and playground equipment. All centered around a lake with nice views. We took a nice nature walk around the pond and throughout the park. At the end of World War 2, Freedom Park was built to honor veterans and was deeded to the City of Charlotte. It is a place for inclusivity, tolerance of diversity, trust and transparency. They offer free film and musical performances in the summer. Adjacent to the park is the Charlotte Nature museum.

Beautiful park, plenty of parking, nice bathroom, and a walkway around a big lake. It's nice for a stroll or to sit and hang out a while and escape the city. On a sunny spring day, it's a nice way to just chill.

My Mom, Cleopatra, is enjoying a strawberry shake while I push her through the park to enjoy the beauty of Freedom Park!

It's beautiful, with so many gorgeous mature trees and lush vegetation. The tree-lined paths are beautifully manicured. I visited with my Mom for a picnic and stroll through the park. It was a lovely afternoon of breezy weather, sunshine, and laughter!

This park has raised the bar for what a park can be, I may have to begin issuing tiers. I would place this park on a S-Tier level. I was not able to see all that this park has to offer but from what I was able to witness this place has everything. From a great place for portraiture, activities for the kids, a place to have a cookout and/or even a FAMILY REUNION, there a mini amphitheater and a walk/run trail and a nature preserve. If you are ever in Charlotte North Carolina, do yourself a favor and check this place out you will not be disappointed.

Definitely one of the better parks in Charlotte. I do enjoy how the greenway runs through here so if you want to go on a run you totally can! There is also a nice loop around a pond that is probably about a half a mile. Ample opportunities for seating in benches. There is a playground for kiddos as well. This place is great to take out of town guests, kids, or dogs.. I have taken all of the above and everyone always enjoys!

Play area with a challenge! Perfect for kids to practice their American Ninja Warrior talents :)

I am a huge fan of this park! There are a zillion activities to do here. To name a few... -A path for you to walk/run/bike/skateboard/etc. -Trails, bridges, etc. to explore -A museum -River/forest area -Open fields & sandy areas for sports -Playgrounds -Picnic tables/bbq areas -Amphitheater for concerts In addition, there are lots of benches and places to read, sunbathe, picnic, exercise, and more. The park is gorgeous and there are photo ops throughout the place. There are also lots of places to hold big events. It is also very pet friendly! Parking is available at both ends of the park; summertime is more crowded, but you should still be able to find a spot just fine.

    View while strolling the park.

Ask the Community - Freedom Park

Is this a good location for a family reunion?

Yes! Lots of pavilions with bbq units. Big playground area for small children.

    Is there a playground?

    Yes! Wonderful for kids.

Is parking still the same? I used to park on the side of the street in the back of the park on Princeton street off of Queens rd. Can we still park on the back.

Yes. Just paty attention to the zones between the signs that limit parking.

I recently reserved an outdoor shelter at this park, I was wondering does it have grills there or is it only in the pavilion?

Yes some has grills unfortunately not all !

Is there pickle ball at this park?

    Unfortunately, no

Is the park fully open? The last time I went the main course was blocked off for construction or something.

Can I bring a temporary volleyball net to set up in the grass to play with friends?

Sure. I'd set up on the athletic side

Do anybody know of a park where they allows grilling?

McDowell. Latta Plantation. Freedom in pavilions. Most Mecklenburg County parks but not all, especially not the small ones.

    Do they have basketball courts?

Yes! As soon as you pull into the main entrance off East Blvd. There are a few on the right.

Looking for a camp site for me and the family is this one? If not can anyone suggest where to go camping in Charlotte?

Try McDowell Park. It's part of the Mecklenburg County Park System. Nice.

The McGill Rose Garden absolutely delivered on that. This is truly a beautiful venue--lush flowers everywhere, winding walk paths, and plenty of places to sit quietly and just take it all in. It's the kind of space where you can slow down, clear your head, and quite literally stop and smell the roses. I found it to be a wonderful spot for reflection, a casual stroll, or simply enjoying nature without needing to leave the city. One of the things I especially appreciated is that you can enhance the experience with a visit to the wine bar onsite, Rosie's Wine Garden, where you can grab a coffee, cocktail, or glass of wine and then wander the grounds at your own pace. It adds a relaxed, almost European feel to the whole experience. A quick heads-up: parking can be a bit tricky, as the entrance is off a busy street, so just take your time and be patient when pulling in. Once you're there, though, it's well worth the effort. Bottom line: If you're looking for a small but charming botanical-style garden in Charlotte--a quiet place to reset, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors--this is a lovely little gem. For me, it checked all the boxes and has become a welcome respite in the middle of a busy day.

The feature that stands out the most is the Spirit of Mecklenburg statue near the entrance. However, once you enter, there are more good sights to be had. Public parks and open spaces are invaluable to any major city and Charlotte, NC is no different. As such, I arrived here with my friend at about 4:00pm after having a late lunch. We opted to hang out in the parking lot after parking for a few minutes to decide on what to do before heading south. We estimated spending about an hour here, as we walked thru the park, enjoying ourselves in the open spaces, and found a homeless guy panhandling. We also found a Target store on one edge of the park. We were shocked that there was a Target store, but then again, we both were strangers to this city. With that said, we ended up shopping at the Target and then walked thru Elizabeth Park again with our purchase, so we could remember where the car was. I enjoyed the vegetation and flora that is encouraging all around the park. The walking paths are nice and I saw a few people running on it while I was there. Elizabeth Park seemed smaller than I thought it was, but after noticing the tunnel, who knows how bigger the park really is. For the most part though, Elizabeth Park is good for the community of downtown Charlotte NC, but best bet is to come during the day to enjoy yourselves but be wary of coming here late at night. The overall experience here at Elizabeth Park here in downtown Charlotte, NC was pretty good. The fresh air and wide open spaces really is what I needed after being cooped up in an airplane for 10 hours from Honolulu to Houston to Charlotte on United Airlines. The only issue was the homeless dude sitting in the park. He didn't say anything to me and my friend, but just being there altered my experience here At Elizabeth Park. At least the park itself was maintained by the good folks with the city of Charlotte and it was beautiful piece of soul like a work of art continually in progress. My friend and I walked a bit on the paths and underneath the tunnel, but we didn't know how much more park there was if we decided to lap the entire circumference of the park. I enjoyed walking around here At Elizabeth Park while playing Pokémon Go along with my friend and hope to return here again. Although the homeless guy didn't bother us during my time here, it was a little bit more disappointing that happened. I guess with Charlotte being a major city and all, you can't avoid them. Still, it was a nice time here At Elizabeth Park before we Had to go. I'd recommend coming here for A nice respite from the road trip or just from the hard day at the office. The open space that public parks provides is always amazing. Elizabeth Park here in Charlotte, North Carolina is located at 101 Kings Drive in the downtown district. Like all public parks and public spaces, there is no admission fees, which is already awesome and amazing! There is limited parking here, so Best bet would be to get here early to find an awesome parking spot. As far as local public bus routes are concerned, I wouldn't know but please consult the Charlotte public transportation online and choose which routes are appropriate for your trip here to Elizabeth park. Best to Come here early morning or early evening to decompress and enjoy nature. It's quite nice when nature is there to listen to your problems. I enjoyed listening to Mother Nature here and hopefully you will too. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+
