Every three weeks after her treatments we go for a short walk around the park since it's right across the street. Today, we received some devastating news about her cancer and so after her appointment we went to the park to have a moment with her before driving back to Greensboro. We were kicked out. We've never seen any signs nor has anyone ever approached us about no dogs being allowed. We've seen many other people with their little dogs as well. It felt like a punch in the gut. A place we went for solace just added to our pain.

They are constantly blaring music above appropriate decibel levels. Sometimes before 8am on a Saturday and passed 9pm on weekdays. To the point the noise rattles our homes and blares through the walls. I moved to this area thinking it would be quiet and peaceful, it has been anything but. I reached out to Eunice Donnelly the park and Rec "director" and she did nothing to resolve the matter. She kept directing me to their website for events which half the events they've run this summer aren't even posted on the website! The park is great, the directors and management team are terrible however. She should be removed. They need a true lesson in organization and also respect- the golden rule. They don't care about our community and that is clear now.

(From November 2025)…read more I can't remember how I found this but as I'm driving in Charlotte, my dad and I stopped here to check it out. This is one of the most beautiful parks I've had the pleasure of visiting. There are beautiful views, playgrounds and lawn space for children's play, plenty of parking, trails for walking/bike riding, several bridges, and large trees to compliment the fields. The park is well-kept as everyone here ensures cleanliness and top maintenance. As my dad and I sat down on the bench and soaked in our surroundings, we observed a plethora of activity which included some people flying drones, kids competing in the playground's obstacle course, elderly folks walking, dogs running amok, people racing toy cars, and a few people cycling. The positive energy and vibes were radiant. I'm glad we stopped by here. Definitely worth a visit in Charlotte!

We thought this park looked pretty cool, so we drove over, parked on the road and walked around. It was a nice day and lots of other people were out. We walked around the lake and checked out some of the features like bridges, streams, bridges and an amphitheatre. There was also a playground nearby. I really like that this park connects to the South Fork Catawba River Greenway. It's pretty short, but a nice walk. It also connects to the town of Cramerton and another section of the Carolina Thread Trail down by the Catawba River. I'm sure the park itself is also really nice when it's not under construction. I definitely recommend checking out the trails that connect to it too.

Operated by the City of Cramerton (which I think I've never heard of), Goat Island Park features a…read more3/4 mile paved surface trail, observation pier, two canoe/kayak landings, picnic shelters, disc gold course and an open air amphitheater. The park has been open since 2012 and is in excellent condition. The park is 30 acres with hardwoods, vegetation and wetlands. It gets the interesting name from the town's founder, Stuart Cramer, who released goats onto the island to control the weeds dating back to as early as 1910. It's in a wooded area so it's a well shaded. There's lots for kids to do and while most of the stuff I will say is geared towards kids five and up there are things for younger kids to do and I do appreciate the handicap swings. Kids younger than three have a very tiny area to play compared to everything else. They're definitely going to be drawn to the main play area, which is bigger and you might have bigger kids running around so that creates a little bit of an unsafe situation when you have a mix of uncoordinated children, and bigger rowdy kids. Even if your kids are bigger doesn't mean that they'll be able to use everything at the park. Some of the things are definitely geared towards balance and coordination so if your kids are not well coordinated or have good balance or can catch themselves if they fall I would stay close by. The other thing I love about this park is that we can bring our bikes and take a ride down to the water and let the kids play by the sanded area. The trails are beautiful and you'll definitely get some good distance in if you're going to go to any of the stops along the trail.

Wanted to go for a jog the other day and didn't quite feel like driving over to Concord so I…read morewhipped out the old smartphone. I found this place by simply putting "parks near me" into Google. Sure enough this place is less than 10 minutes away and I had no idea it even existed. It's a cute little park with one big soccer field, a decent sized parking lot and two (connected) trails. The trail on the right is actually one end of the Mallard Creek Greenway. Off the top of my head I'm not sure how far up that goes but I've been on other portions of it before so I know it goes well into Charlotte. The path on the left is the reason I like this park so much. It is simultaneously the best and worst feature of this place. Why is it the best? This path goes for about a half mile back in to the woods on a massive wooden bridge/boardwalk. Most of the time your only maybe three feet off the ground, though the portion over the creek is probably twenty feet from bridge to creek bed. Despite this, the way the trees and terrain are layed out, if your running down the path looking straight ahead it's almost like your running through tree tops. It's really neat. The reason it's also the worst feature is the state this wonderfully cool bridge is in. It's all wooden and a lot of the boards could use some love. Several spots near the start have been worn significantly enough that you need to watch your footing when running. There are also a few places with boards missing completely from the railing and I'm pretty sure at least one piece had some nails sticking up. It's a shame it isn't better taken care of, but I assume this place just doesn't get the traffic to justify better maintenance. I think it's still worth a visit for the great little hidden trails, just keep your eyes open and your feet steady if you plan to run.
