This park is located downtown and very close to the Spectrum Center. Many photos of this park online show giant white rabbits. Sadly, that was a temporary art exhibit where this park was filled with giant inflatable rabbits. There are none now, so this park is basically a wide, open empty space. It's just a place to sit around with no activities to do.

Such a fun park located uptown! Prepare to pay for parking. There is so much to do here for the entire family. They have a climbing structure, water fountain, a stage, out door workout equipment and more!

Perhaps the most substantial park of Charlotte's downtown, this one offered a substantial and well-attended set of fountains. Some port-a-potties were set up around the edge of the park. There was a reasonable amount of street parking nearby. The center of the space was open, while shaded seating was around the periphery, including some fancy stone benches with animals carved in them. A light rail stop was also nearby.

What a gem of a park, located right in the heart of Uptown Charlotte across from the 7th St. Market. Friends and I were in the area for brunch and decided to walk off a few calories before we headed out. We stumbled upon this park and figured it was a sign. Time to explore! The first thing I noticed was how clean the park was. I didn't see a single piece of trash while I was walking around. Next, it was pretty cool to see gym equipment on turf located along the side of the park. I've only seen this in towns along the coast. Very cool! I also enjoyed the fountain and my friends and I used it as a fun photo op. If your back is facing the fountain you can get a really good view of the city. Lastly, the place was landscaped really well and had tons of beautiful flowers. If you have time to talk a stroll and you're nearby, give it a gander.

I've walked past this park before, but just spent some time here for the first time during Charlotte Shout. The location is very conveniently located right by 7th Street Public Market across the street. The festivities here during Charlotte Shout were awesome. I hope they do more events like that here in the future. The park is small, but nice. There's a splash pad which the kids love. There's bathrooms as well. Google Fiber is right next to the park. Overall, it's a nice place to hang out for a bit.

First Ward Park is a fairly new 4-acre park located between East 7th, 9th and Brevard Streets, just east of the light rail tracks in First Ward District of Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte City officials have opted to call their Downtown area as Uptown because Up has a more positive connotation than Down. The four-acre park, which opened in December 2015, used to be nine blocks of parking lots so this park is a huge improvement! Now the First Ward Park is intended to be the centerpiece of a new urban village, surrounded by offices, shops, residences and hotels. First ward park has a large lawn, an interactive fountain, a kids jungle gym contraption, a kids splash pad area, animal sculptures you can sit on, and 5 exercise machines, all with the backdrop of the city's skyline. At this park, you will typically find a mix of professionals, UNC Charlotte students who study at the university's adjacent Center City campus, and kids playing after a trip to nearby ImaginOn. Kids can suit up for fun in the fountains that shoot up from the splash pad, and parents can enjoy the action sunning on a blanket while taking in the uptown skyline. A Sounds of Summer concert series features free live music, food trucks and craft beer on select Fridays May through August. Roots rock, Americana and bluegrass take center stage at this unique concert series. Sadly, no new events have been announced for the fall and winter months so the park currently as lively as it typically is on weekends. When food trucks are not here for select weekend events, visitors can grab lunch across the street at the Seventh Street Public Market, which is full of local small businesses selling everything from coffee to sushi, pizza to cupcakes. First ward park is missing a dog run area, tennis courts, basketball courts, ping pong tables, chess tables, food vendors, a stage, and a view of any body of water as typical parks usually have in Florida but this park does offer a nice view of the Charlotte Uptown Skyline and is a big improvement upon a parking lot. The large lawn is ideal for concerts or events but when there aren't any, there is not a whole lot to do at this park except for using the exercise equipment. Hopefully concerts and food vendors will return soon to bring more life back to this park.

I got here just as some sort of cancer fundraising event was ending with lots of tents set up, a loud man with a microphone and bunches of people in purple tshirts. No idea what that was all about. The big grassy space is not far from Uptown and the 7th street public market. Bring your lunch here if you're so inclined. There's a great view of the skyline! A lovely fountain, a pavilion, public restrooms

Wow! What an amazing park! So close to ImaginOn, 7th Street Station and The Levine Museum! The lush green grassy center just beckons you to take your shoes off and run around barefoot! Plenty of space to lay out, picnic or toss a Frisbee. There's a really cool spherical jungle gym that looks like a sculpture you can climb. Right next to that there are some all-weather exercise stations where you can work out. The layout here is great - lots of areas to sit including tables and chairs under a massive white pergola surrounding a beautiful fountain!! My kids and I enjoyed exploring and checking out some of the art installations/sculptures, some hidden, some enormous. First Ward Park is the perfect place to take a break and soak in not only some sunshine but also some of the really unique architecture here in Uptown. Just watch out for the occasional skateboarder! And eat your King of Pops before it melts!

Just love to use my DJI Drone and the use of the camera on it! Retired Army and I needed to find something to keep me busy in my retirement years. I go with my wife to other places and I find that just my phone camera don't cut it like from the air that gives a more in depth of the picture?!

This park is pretty nice! Just started including it during my morning jogging route. Nice place to stop for a cool down/breather and take in the sights. There is seating all around the park including benches and chairs/tables. The park is located right on the light rail, so super convenient to get to no matter where you're coming from. Inside the park, there is even an exercising area with an elliptical, monkey bars for pull-ups and other machines. Hang out, relax and get fit in one visit this park!

Love this park. It's the perfect place for me to come in eternal meetings or on my lunch break to get steps in. The walking circle passes a cute spray water area which makes my summer walk a little refreshing every time I pass. This park always has some activity and I was proud to come here for the #WomensMarchCLT. Today there was a small but mighty #NotMyPresident protest on the corner near one of the entrances. This park is already making and taking its place as a part of Charlotte history

This park is located in the old Dixie tavern parking lot. Had many a good memories there and at least glad to see that it hasn't turned into apartments. First Ward park is very nice nice place to stroll around and even has some exercise equipment. Nothing fancy but just nice to mess around with bring golves if you plan on doing push-ups on the ground the summer is coming and the ground is hot. Starting sometime in June they're planning on music in the parks, I've heard many good things about this event and can't wait to come to one.

Charlotte does many things well, but it's park system is among one of its many gems. First Ward Park is a beautiful location which is close to many other attractions such as Levine Museum of the New South, ImaginOn, Spirit Square, 7th St. Public Market, and many restaurants and bars. The park also features artwork, functional sculptures that double as fitness equipment or works of art, lots of seating and beautiful flat surfaces for picnics. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the city skyline, meditate or catch up on creative writing ideas. Take your special someone on a stroll for a first, second or ongoing date. Especially since the Public Market is close by with lots of great delicacies to choose from. If you are visiting or living in the Queen City, First Ward Park is worth the experience. Plus, they offer a live music series at the park beginning in June!

The McGill Rose Garden absolutely delivered on that. This is truly a beautiful venue--lush flowers everywhere, winding walk paths, and plenty of places to sit quietly and just take it all in. It's the kind of space where you can slow down, clear your head, and quite literally stop and smell the roses. I found it to be a wonderful spot for reflection, a casual stroll, or simply enjoying nature without needing to leave the city. One of the things I especially appreciated is that you can enhance the experience with a visit to the wine bar onsite, Rosie's Wine Garden, where you can grab a coffee, cocktail, or glass of wine and then wander the grounds at your own pace. It adds a relaxed, almost European feel to the whole experience. A quick heads-up: parking can be a bit tricky, as the entrance is off a busy street, so just take your time and be patient when pulling in. Once you're there, though, it's well worth the effort. Bottom line: If you're looking for a small but charming botanical-style garden in Charlotte--a quiet place to reset, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors--this is a lovely little gem. For me, it checked all the boxes and has become a welcome respite in the middle of a busy day.

The feature that stands out the most is the Spirit of Mecklenburg statue near the entrance. However, once you enter, there are more good sights to be had. Public parks and open spaces are invaluable to any major city and Charlotte, NC is no different. As such, I arrived here with my friend at about 4:00pm after having a late lunch. We opted to hang out in the parking lot after parking for a few minutes to decide on what to do before heading south. We estimated spending about an hour here, as we walked thru the park, enjoying ourselves in the open spaces, and found a homeless guy panhandling. We also found a Target store on one edge of the park. We were shocked that there was a Target store, but then again, we both were strangers to this city. With that said, we ended up shopping at the Target and then walked thru Elizabeth Park again with our purchase, so we could remember where the car was. I enjoyed the vegetation and flora that is encouraging all around the park. The walking paths are nice and I saw a few people running on it while I was there. Elizabeth Park seemed smaller than I thought it was, but after noticing the tunnel, who knows how bigger the park really is. For the most part though, Elizabeth Park is good for the community of downtown Charlotte NC, but best bet is to come during the day to enjoy yourselves but be wary of coming here late at night. The overall experience here at Elizabeth Park here in downtown Charlotte, NC was pretty good. The fresh air and wide open spaces really is what I needed after being cooped up in an airplane for 10 hours from Honolulu to Houston to Charlotte on United Airlines. The only issue was the homeless dude sitting in the park. He didn't say anything to me and my friend, but just being there altered my experience here At Elizabeth Park. At least the park itself was maintained by the good folks with the city of Charlotte and it was beautiful piece of soul like a work of art continually in progress. My friend and I walked a bit on the paths and underneath the tunnel, but we didn't know how much more park there was if we decided to lap the entire circumference of the park. I enjoyed walking around here At Elizabeth Park while playing Pokémon Go along with my friend and hope to return here again. Although the homeless guy didn't bother us during my time here, it was a little bit more disappointing that happened. I guess with Charlotte being a major city and all, you can't avoid them. Still, it was a nice time here At Elizabeth Park before we Had to go. I'd recommend coming here for A nice respite from the road trip or just from the hard day at the office. The open space that public parks provides is always amazing. Elizabeth Park here in Charlotte, North Carolina is located at 101 Kings Drive in the downtown district. Like all public parks and public spaces, there is no admission fees, which is already awesome and amazing! There is limited parking here, so Best bet would be to get here early to find an awesome parking spot. As far as local public bus routes are concerned, I wouldn't know but please consult the Charlotte public transportation online and choose which routes are appropriate for your trip here to Elizabeth park. Best to Come here early morning or early evening to decompress and enjoy nature. It's quite nice when nature is there to listen to your problems. I enjoyed listening to Mother Nature here and hopefully you will too. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+
