Had a last minute spa day here for my sisters 21st birthday and it was awesome! Deb is the best, I will def be back.

Body Philosophy had gotten many great reviews, so since my spouse offered to lovingly gift me a birthday massage, I was eager to try a local, good one. Debbie, the owner returned my call promptly and set up a massage for that weekend. When I got there, the signage made it easy to find and nearby street parking was also easy. The shop is located toward the back of the building, but you enter the front door where you walk through the lobby of a dental office in order to enter the back suite, check-in room. I was ushered in to an adjacent waiting room with a comfy chair while the previous person's massage was coming to a close. Then Debbie came in and asked me some detailed questions about massage, which was good to get done beforehand and then we proceeded into the spacious, darkly-lit massage room. There was a massage table already set, to get comfy on and some music and a dehumidifier working, which was a novel, nice touch. Then Debbie entered and gave me one of the best massages I've ever gotten, ever. And I am picky about massages. Debbie is very gifted and intuitive, besides highly trained at what she does and the care and professionalism she shows is great. Her hands are strong and smooth and the hot towel treatment at the beginning and end were an unexpected highlight of the massage. If you're on-the-fence about whether or not to choose a massage from here, I'd recommend taking the leap and booking your massage from here now. You won't be disappointed. read more

My hubby got us the couples massage workshop and we attended yesterday. It was a great birthday gift! The workshop begins with an introduction to anatomy so you know what to look for as well as what to avoid. Then you go into the room and learn proper form (body mechanics). This part was great because she taught us how to give a massage without getting tired or hurt. The last 2 hours or so are spent practicing actual massage technique. The workshop was fun but I also feel like I learned ALOT. At the end she even introduces us to cupping. I definitely recommend. read more

Literally, the best massage i've ever had. I was recommended Deb, because she has strong hands, and I have a tight back. After years of never being satisfied from leaving a massage, I cannot explain how relieved I was to leave with the tension free from my shoulders and back. Deb found tight muscles and knots in places I didn't even know they existed. On top of the amazing massage, Deb and the other women are so friendly and easy to talk to. They gave my friend and I water, and we were invited to hang out in the lounge area after our massages. These women are definitely connected to the work they do, they're professional, but they're also nice and funny to talk to. The visit is all-around enjoyable, and I can't wait to go back! read more

This spa was great all around! Top customer service, even over the phone. They were more than accommodating with my difficult schedule as well. It was a hot day but the place was nicely air-conditioned and comforting. There's a separate lobby inside as well, for those waiting for guest getting a massage. Body Philosophy Spa is absolutely amazing! I decided to take my mother here as a Mother's Day gift, and, as soon as we walked through the door, they were beyond welcoming and greeted us with such enthusiasm. Their customer service continues to exceed my expectations throughout the appointment, and Debbie and the front desk receptionist were so accommodating to me even though I was just tagging along with my mom. They were both very helpful and understanding towards my mom and myself since we are relatively new to this whole experience and were so sweet about us running a bit late. My mom's appointment lasted the full hour, as promised, and didn't get cut short because of the consultation beforehand. I truly appreciate Debbie making certain that the time began at the time of the massage and not a minute sooner. In addition to their service, the place is so clean and gives off such a relaxing atmosphere! I was studying for my Finals in the lounge and nearly dozed off a few times since it felt so home-y All in all, this was an amazing experience for my mom and me, and I would definitely recommend the place to others and plan to be back in the near future with my dad for Father's Day! read more

Went here for my first waxing and Georgina was amazing!! Made me feel totally comfortable from the phone call through the waxing itself. There was also an awesomely fun area for my friend's seven year old to hang out and have fun while I got waxed so the time just flew for all of us! The waxing itself was totally comfortable. I signed up for the community appreciation deal with a vendor that was visiting my place of work. I originally scheduled a 1 hour massage, and was 30 minutes late, so I was only able to get a 30 minute massage, understandable. Since there was someone already scheduled for the next hour. Jazzy was my massage therapist and she was awesome. She made that 30 minutes a feel like an hour. Her pressure was appropriate for what I asked. I will be returning and I would recommend Jazzy as well. read more

I was looking for a skilled aesthetician to help my skin look the best it possibly could. After a false start with another spa where the aesthetician was driving out of the parking lot while I was driving in for my appointment! Her assistant told me she was going to pick up lunch! I started my search again and found Georgina!!! It was a match made in heaven! She's given me multiple microdermabrasion treatments and my skin looks and feels so much better. I was mostly concerned with uneven skin tone and she has done wonders for it! She's a rare combination of highly skilled, knowledgeable, professional, patient, warm and friendly. I have now had two facials at Body Philosophy with Georgina. What a wonderful salon! Georgina was attentive, gentle, yet extremely thorough. The microdermabrasion she performed was excellent! I travel frequently with my job and my skin was lacking life and was quite dehydrated. But when I left, I felt ten years younger! My skin is still glowing and my crows feet are definitely less defined! She also recommended a new primer and gave me a sample. I love it and will now buy the product. Georgina was very knowledgable in her profession and was also very kind. Sometimes it's hard to find both of those traits together. I have a left knee problem and as a hairstylist and triathlete, I have lots of other key points. She was very knowledgable about vitamins and suggested a few things to help me. I have been receiving deep tissue massage therapy at Body Philosophy since they opened. I had a recent rotator cuff injury that was healed but I was still have limited strength and binding while lifting weights. I recently visited Body Philosophy and Debbie very astutely analyzed the shoulder and was able to find scar tissue in the outer pectoral muscle that no one realized existed. Within a day after the massage the binding was gone and I felt an improvement in strength. Last night I inclined benched 150 lbs. (six reps) and that is almost double what I was able to do since I injured my shoulder. She treated a chronic injury and I feel I will soon be back to where I was a year ago regarding strength. read more

Massages are great. However she books up really fast and usually doesn't have an opening for at least a couple of weeks. The last two times I've booked an appt (a month ahead of time) I get a phone call just a few hours before my appt saying it needs to be cancelled bc of "personal matters". I don't mean to sound insensitive but waiting a month to get a massage only to hear just a few hours before that it's cancelled and I have to wait another few weeks is a bit ridiculous. This spa is conveniently located just off the traffic circle in Long Beach. I have had numerous appointments with Debbie and she has always been prompt. She discusses what she does before she does it and if you ask questions about what she is doing she is always able to explain and educate you. I've never felt rushed. I experience a lot of pain from problems with scoliosis and get weeks of pain relief from a 90 minute massage. The place is spotless. I feel that Debbie is interested in and able to help me improve my long-term well-being. If you want to talk, Debbie will talk. If you don't initiate conversation, she works quietly. She does not push the sale of products although she has them available. This is a first-rate place. read more

i contacted the spa on Dec 12 - for a group party when the spa i had originally booked for just wasnt working out ( they wanted payment if full plus gratuity a week in advance for our date and the time at the spa was over 6 hours ). Deb was very pleasant and able to create a day for my daughters and i that was nothing short of amazing - and only 1 week before the date we needed! She customized a plan, set up a wonderful snack area and we had the entire spa to ourselves for 4 hours ( we could have had more time if we wanted as well). From the private lounge area with soft rugs & blankets, to the great cheese tray and fresh fruits, to the treatments themselves it really was a great afternoon. We were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday and Deb really made it a special day for us. She put together exactly what we needed and Georgina and her really made us feel special. Did i mention the massage was PERFECT and the facial was as well. I definately will be back and have already asked her to plan a couple retreat for my hubby's birthday. read more
