UPDATE: The owner of Body Art Studio 13, Tony, reached out promptly and condoned Amy's actions, and emphasized the lack excuse for them, which was greatly appreciated. Amy also reached out and apologized. I'm unsure if I will consider the studio in the future, but I appreciate the follow up. Tony seems amazing, and I'm sure he runs an amazing studio- an unfortunate bad experience that is likely rare. My experience with Body Art Studio 13 started out positive. I had booked an appointment through Instagram DMs as instructed, had a lovely conversation with my artist's assistant, and sent my deposit to the artist that I had booked with- Amy Heath. However, at 11:30PM the night before my appointment, I received a text that my appointment had been cancelled. To preface a little bit: I had booked for two tattoos, and this would have been my first experience with tattoos. I greatly admired, and truly still do admire, the work of Amy- I was absolutely thrilled to be working with her and planned an hour long commute that was a rare opportunity in order to be tattooed by her. I sent her a quick DM asking why my appointment had been cancelled, and I decided to try calling her at 11:45PM. The first call had no answer, so I decided to just try one more time. She answered, said, "F*ck off, I'm in bed," and hung up. I will attach photos of the exchange that followed. I was truly excited for my appointment, and I would have understood Amy's frustration if she had been polite about it. I was very frustrated about the cancellation, as I took lots of time to pick an artist and studio that I felt would provide a good experience, but I did not stoop to the level of rudeness and extreme unprofessionalism that Amy did. I had such a great experience getting my first tattoo done by Amy (@inked_miss). Communication prior to my appointment was good, and pretty quick. The facility itself is beautiful- it's big and has lots of open space. A really relaxed atmosphere and not intimidating at all. Everyone I met while I was there was super nice, too. As far as the process itself, I felt extremely confident in how clean everything was and Amy's process was great- she took her time and explained what she was doing and why which made me feel at easy. She offered breaks consistently, checked in often, and very sweetly gave me both gum and a lollipop as a distraction. The tattoo itself came out great and she gave me easy and clear aftercare instructions, as well as a fast way to reach her should I have any additional questions, and offered touch ups over the next few months if I noticed any cracking or anything like that as it healed (my design had a lot of done lines). I will definitely be back for my next tattoo, Amy is fantastic and I had a great experience here! read more

I got my tattoo done by Dom about 4 weeks ago and he was so nice since the beginning! The tattoo came out beautifully and he also helped me to create the design which was just an idea initially. He put together a beautiful design and while doing the tattoo was very nice and respectful! The studio was clean, welcoming and very nicely decorated at the time for Halloween! Just had an AWFUL experience at this place: while getting my chest tattooed - my AFAB, very titful chest, thoughtfully protected by several privacy screens - ChuckleFuck McGee at the station next door ("Ticano"), decides, fuck that, my need to complain about a BROKEN PRINTER IS MORE IMPORTANT. My artist was facing me and did not see him UNTIL I YELLED AT HIM TO GTFO. BECAUSE MY TITS WERE OUT. ALMOST LIKE THE PRIVACY SCREENS SHOULD HAVE BROADCASTED THAT PRIVACY WAS REQUIRED HERE. Unless and until this guy is removed, I will not feel safe returning to that studio. My artist very thoughtfully scheduled my follow up on a day Ticano doesn't normally work, so I wouldn't have to face that asshole again. This is the single rudest moment I've had in 20 years of getting tattooed. My own artist, Ricardo, was great, his work is beautiful, and I'd love to keep seeing him- somewhere else. read more

I had an incredible experience at the studio last week working with Rodrigo Zanello. I was in the studio from 10 am to 8 pm and found everyone to be really nice friendly and professional. Tony runs a tight ship but clearly there is a vibe of creativity and collaboration that facilitates the production of beautiful body art. Right from the booking with Kelsey to the conclusion of the work that night I felt right at home even though this was only my first "real" tattoo. Thoroughly recommend these magical humans. I had an appointment scheduled with Grace, their apprentice. I arrived early to the address she gave me and then messaged her when I couldn't find the shop. She did not answer so I called the shop and they told me that she had given me the wrong address and not updated me on the change. So I went to the correct address and arrived and then Grace called me and told me that she had scheduled me in for Tuesday, two days from now, and not Sunday. She did tell me that another artist could take me now, so I went upstairs trying to be optimistic. That's when I was met with a barefoot man and no one wearing masks who told me that he was supposed to get a tattoo today but he would squeeze me in. I do not want a rushed tattoo in a clearly not sterile environment and I definitely don't want one from someone whose own tattoos are unprofessional looking at best and who treated me, a customer who was planning on paying Grace full price for a free tattoo, like a nuisance. read more

I was excited to get a tattoo here, as I had heard many positive reviews. I filled out the booking request online and waited days and didn't hear from anyone. I called and finally talked to someone. I explained what I wanted done and she said she would send me a link to book. It has been 6 days and I still haven't heard from her. Hands down, the most unprofessional shop I've had the displeasure of attending. Not only is the work mediocre, there is an attitude from the shop owner and his side-kick (wife? gf?). I have two tattoos from there, both excessively faded, one to the point you can barely see some letters. I have ~19 tattoos, and he is the only artist I've experienced this from. My friend and I got a tattoo here. Tony was very nice and professional. One of the letters faded on my tattoo and I was told they would set-up an appointment for me to get it fixed no problem! After they were set up in their new location a month later, I got an email stating that I needed to come in and get another tattoo, spending at least $50 in order for him to spend 30 seconds to go over one small letter. This changed my entire opinion of their shop because this shows that they don't stand behind their work and their "policy" changes whenever they feel like it. I sent them an email and they haven't even responded to me. I would not recommend this place to anyone anymore. read more

So I will start by saying that the owner of the shop is very talented, however the other artists, not so much. The second thing I will comment on is the attitude of the employees. I am a female walking into a tattoo shop for the first time to get my first tattoo, the last thing I want is to feel like I am a BURDEN to the artists there. I walked in and was not greeted, actually no one said anything to me because the only one there was working with someone. I waited respectfully and waited....and waited. Finally after about an hour and half someone, he never told me his name "helped" me get the tattoo on paper. This was all done with rude snarky remarks. Listen, if you did not want to deal with people, probably should not have been a tattoo artist. I then waited about 4 hours to actually get tattooed. This was my first tattoo, and I told the artist that. He did not explain anything, nor really gave a shit. About 45 mins through the tattoo I felt like I was going to faint ( because of blood sugar, not pain), and I told him, he then proceeded to rush through my tattoo to get me out faster. Since my first tattoo I have gotten more, and I can say my experience here was the worst so far. After healing I see so many imperfections because he was rushing. He had a heavy hand and I have much more scaring because of it. If you are a man who likes sarcastic witty people this shop is great, but as a female going in here who was getting their first tattoo, it would have been really nice to have someone who was nicer and who didn't rush through the whole thing with a snarky demeanor. read more
