Horrible. Never come here. We were skeptical about coming because the outside looked a little off but we decided that sometimes there are good hole in the wall places, and maybe this could be one of them. We were so wrong. The place itself was kind of dirty. The people that were there were just sketchy. The service was okay I guess. But the food. Omg. We got up and paid for our food and left without eating. The eggs were so greecy it was gross. The cooked ham I ordered came raw. And in the toast said it was Cuban style toast (as seen in the picture) and it was just regular white bread. Came here two mornings in a row while visiting a friend in Miami. Over the course of those two days I had: Empanadas- caprese and spinach (spinach was more filling). Both still good. Tad greasy Breakfast croissant sandwich- huge, filling, and yummy. Tad greasy. Iced coffee- simple but good. Juice - I had her mix coconut, cucumber, and ginger. It was fresh and definitely interesting :P Those amazing caramel coconut cookie things - Ah, jeez. Mild but so good. That caramel in the middle! It was well priced and came out quickly. This place is great! I come here all the time because it's very close to my house. They have a little outside bar and a couple of tables outside as well so I can bring my dog! The staff is very friendly even when they are very busy. The food is great, I usually come here for breakfast. Came in for breakfast this morning with my fiancé as he had been once before and loved it. I ordered a mixed veggie juice (beet, carrot, celery and ginger) which was delicious and had perfect proportions of each! My fiancé ordered black coffee, scrambled eggs w/ cheese (cheese is $1 more), 2x bacon ($4), croissant and home fries, and I ordered the veggie omelette with cheese and a croissant. His bacon was hard- not crispy, but hard/over cooked, which was very disappointing for him as they had been perfect during his first visit. The home fries, which were more like thick chips, were hard (these were also fresher on his last visit). I was surprised at how salty everything was, including the omelette and unfortunately, there was a hair inside :( His $2+ cup of black coffee wasn't that great; he'll be getting a juice next time. This is a hidden gem in North Beach. I just discovered this restaurant (by accident) 2 weeks ago and went back again a few days later. I love the mom and pop feel of this place. The service is delightful and the food is so good. The portions are affordable, huge, tasteful and truly Argentine. The empanadas are amazing as well as the Spanish Tortilla (they serve you the entire pie not just a slice, which is what I was expecting). The café con leche is also delicious! It was Christmas eve 2015. I just felt lonely and miserable. For the first time in my entire lifetime I was spending the night all alone. My children went to Argentina to vacation with their mother and it seemed that nobody cared enough about me in the whole world. EXCEPT ONE. Facing the all too familiar discouraging dilemma of swallowing an insipid frozen dinner or to get dressed up to dine out with total strangers I received a phone call out of the blue. "Hello, it' s Bettina ftom the 'Bodegon', " she said. " I wanted to thank you for the nice review you wrote in Yelp about my 'empanadas'. How are you doing?" "Not quite in the pink but I'll try to survive this dreadful night," I said. "Why are you so down? What are you going to eat." "Nothing much. " I responded. "Don't worry. We were about to close the shop but before we do, I'll send you a nice dinner with my husband.. Merry Christmas, dear." Within half an hour her husband did show up with an oven baked stuffed pork sirloin ( we call it a "carre de cerdo" in the River Plate region) and one potato and one mixed salads.
