We ended up ordering from Boda Restaurant on Lunar New Year after calling Ba Le Sandwiches and Banh Mi My Tho and both were completely sold out of sandwiches. My husband's family said they used to eat here all the time growing up and that it was just ok... and honestly, that's exactly how it felt, if not a little worse. We got 5 specials, a grilled pork sandwich, plus kung pao chicken and orange chicken, and it came out to just under $100. The bread was probably the biggest letdown, it tasted stale, super airy, and kind of flaky in a not-good way. The cold cuts were sliced sooo thin that nothing really stood out. Everything just tasted really forgettable. The only plus side was the lady who picked up the phone, she was so nice and honestly such a pleasure to talk to. Definitely wouldn't go back, especially with so many better banh mi spots around. read more

Boda Restaurant - First time here, super good - Vietnamese Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Really enjoyed eating here! The food had that classic comforting Chinese restaurant flavor, fresh, tasty, and satisfying. The noodles were well seasoned, the sauces and pickled veggies added a lot of flavor, and the portions were generous. Service was friendly and the atmosphere felt casual and welcoming. Definitely a good spot when you're craving simple, delicious Chinese comfort food. Will be coming back! read more

Place definitely has old school vibes and seems family run. Located in a small plaza with parking. Staff was friendly and quick. Had the Wonton Soup and Pho which were good. Menu seems to be a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes and it's a pretty good takeout option for lunch with their specials. read more

The workers there are really rude. I've been coming here my whole life and today some lady before we even finished cleaning up ( food was paid for ) the lady came demanding a tip saying we left nothing before she even gave us the chance to leave cash tip. They are overall rude and take long to help us out. Last time coming here after today. It was absolutely humiliating. read more

My family has been coming here for over 30 years. The food is delicious, the service is exceptional and friendly, and the owner (Eva) is very nice. My parents' favorite dish is the charbroiled pork chops with steamed rice, but I also recommend the chow mein with crispy noodles and the Bahn Mi sandwich. Give them a try- you won't be disappointed! Prices are pretty reasonable too. read more

Martha, my ball and chain, told me she brought back a few sandwiches home for dinner. She had no interest in cooking dinner considering the heatwave we've been in. I don't blame her. She plopped two sandwiches on the counter and told me she got a pork and a ham from Boda. I hadn't been to this joint so I got a little giddy. I corrected her after inspecting the sandwiches, saying that they're actually banh mis. No big deal. She doesn't know better. I went for the pork banh mi first because the meat levels on the ham seemed low. I dug in and immediately saw the Chinese/Vietnamese crossover. The flavors of the pork were leaning more towards east asian. I scarfed that down and moved on to the ham, and was a little disappointed on the meat to bread ratio, which I vocalized to Martha. She told me "it was only $7 -- you get what you pay for!". I took back my comment. $7 is a good price for what they gave. Martha and I gave each other a kiss after eating. She leaned back and smiled and in-between those pearly whites was a hefty piece of cilantro. She wanted to make love, but I told her we should brush our teeth first. The next day I woke up hungover and in a pool of sweat. I looked over and Martha was gone, then glanced at the clock and saw it was noon. yikes. After we made love the night prior, I decided to go to Marcelino's and tie one on with my pal Bob. Worth it though the heatwave ain't making my life easy. The good thing is -- no cooking; and what's fresh in my mind from last night's dinner? -- A Boda banh mi. I walked over in a tank, shorts, and flops. Upon walking in, I was blasted by their cool AC. I felt alive. In line, I looked over one of their paper menus and couldn't find the banh mi. Luckily, the woman in front of me asked if she can get the pork sandwich. I thought that must be what I had last night, although I know it's a banh mi. She then went on to ask if she can get double meat, which I immediately thought to be a good idea. I thought about asking the man if I can get a banh mi, but didn't want to look like a complete fool, not knowing if they prefer calling it a sandwich. The man stared at me with a blank expression, which meant I was next in line. "Make that two pork sandwiches -- double meat!" I replied. It was $11 and mighty delicious. read more

Great service and food and reasonable prices considering the current economy. Would be back again!!!!

Came here to order a Seafood Soup. The layout of the place reminds me of old school Hong Kong restaurants. I felt like I went back in time. They're quick to take your order and the wait isn't long. So why the 3 star review? The food was okay but I find it a bit expensive. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here but I guess if you want some Chinese food quickly, this will hit the spot. read more

I'm actually not a huge fan of banh mi but their banh mi thit nuong is phenomenal and affordable! I always make a pit stop to order some before I head on a roadtrip -- it's a travel staple. Just be sure to ask for veggies on the side so the bread doesn't get soggy. read more

I've been coming to this place for years. Always friendly service and great food. I recommend the wor won ton soup, bahn mi sandwich, and the traditional Chinese dishes are great as well. The best service My family has been going to this restaurant since my dad was 12, he is now 50 and still takes us. Now whenever we go we don't need a menu we order the usual, our shrimp noodle soup and more! Best food ever! read more

The food is mediocre, and the service should get negative stars. I arrived to pick up lunch before the lunch rush and was waiting for my food. I was sitting and minding my own business (25 minutes had lapsed, and my food still wasn't ready). Lunch service picked up, and the server came up and asked me to move so they could give my seat to another customer. Its rude to ask paying customers to leave if you don't have a waiting area and if I've already been sitting and waiting for over 25 minutes. So, if you're not dining in, you're not considered a customer, so keep that in mind when you come here. I will not be coming back. This is not the only to go Chinese food place in the area. read more
