Solid Pho spot for LA. Walked-in with a larger group of friends on a Sunday afternoon and we were able to get seated right away. Firstly, we ordered a Goi Cuon #38 to share with the table and it was good. There was a good portion of meat and filling and the veggies were crisp. The rice paper itself was on the harder side though, so I would've liked if it was a bit softer. The peanut sauce was tasty, but I would've preferred a thicker and less sweet sauce. The order came with 3 rolls cut in half which is good for sharing. For my main dish, I ordered the Pho Thit Nuong #20 and that was good as well. It was pretty much a regular pho with charboil pork. The pork was tender and I liked the charred flavor of it which also flavored the soup broth. There was also a good portion of noodles. I ordered mine at the medium size which was perfect and I was able to finish the entire bowl. I do feel like there's better iterations of the dish elsewhere, but this was still solid. The service was great and our food came out pretty quickly from ordering. The staff are also super personable. My table had a good time chatting with the owner and staff about the décor and the history of the restaurant. Overall, a good experience here and I would identify this place as a good option for pho in the LA area.

Hidden, but for such a small restaurant, it's authentic. I knew it was gonna be good as soon as I saw their calendar. I came here with a group of three and it was already packed for 12 pm on a rainy day. We were told our wait time was going to be 30 mins, but ended up waiting for 15 mins which was surprising because there were people coming in and out, left and right. So you know this place has got to be good. I ordered the bun bo hue with no pork feet but they still decided to add it to my bowl (no complaints, it was good). The pork feet was very tender and cooked perfectly. I loved the pork blood, they were very generous with the amount in my bowl. I wish it was spicer even when I added more sriracha, but they didn't offer chili oil like other places on the side on the tables. Overall, I thought the place was really nice. Theres a lot of seating, but it is a bit cramped so be mindful when getting up and leaving.

I have driven past this place many times and always see a group of people waiting. My sister and brother-in-law have been coming here for years and love the pho. They asked me to come try it out and I couldn't say no! I've always been curious about this place. We ordered the Pho #1: PHỞ ĐẶC BIỆT (special 87 rice noodle with combination of beef) and Pho #19: PHỞ GÀ TƯỚI (rice noodle with lean chicken). Soup broth on both were rich and flavorful. I added hoisin and sriracha and it was simply heaven. There's a reason why there's always a line. It was definitely worth the wait! Will be adding this into my rotation of places to eat from now on. Delicious!

At the edge of Chinatown, there is a pho restaurant called Pho 87. It was my first time here, but it gives off authentic vibes. Prices were on the steep side for a bowl of pho, but it did taste authentic. Service was quick. The vietnamese coffee was strong. There were a handful of people in the restaurant eating away. We are trying to support the few remaining restaurants but... There definitely are more comparable pho places with better pricing for the quality of pho. But give them your support if you are in the area!

9/22/25 PHO 87 You had us fooled from the outside but once inside, WOW! We were greeted by a very friendly Kelly. She smiled as she seated us and kidded with us as she took our order. Hubby didn't even look at the menu. He just kept yelling, "Number one combo!" She knew what he wanted. She showed him the bowls which came in medium and large. It's a great huge portion. I'd say, if you don't have a pho hog like my husband, there's enough to feed 2 people. I ordered the pork egg rolls. You get 4 large pork filled rolls with the green lettuce to wrap. The sweet fish sauce was so yummy. I am so impressed with this Pho restaurant. You will be, too! I am going to say.... BEST WEVE EVER HAD, and we've had many experiences. Kelly, you are definitely an asset to the operation of this store. Keep smiling and being friendly. We loved you! I found out the 87 represents when they opened which was 38 years ago in 1987. Kudos and heart to you! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY !!

Excellent viet food!! Everyone in LÁ knows this is the PLACE for viet food. The service is always nice and quick for how packed it gets! The only thing is there is no chicken pho, which is my favorite. But I loved my bun ba xao! I haven't been here in a while and my fiancé got beef pho and it was really really good! I'm ready to love beef pho now lol. Maybe only from this place tho! I'll be back!

The thousand dollar question, would i come back again? ABSOLUTELY YES! Five star for the following: Food: amazing taste, moderate prices and generous portions Facility: beautiful location, nice tables, clea. Place Servers: made us family like family. Amazing attention. The people are very welcoming All in all, the place was packed from the moment we walked in. Thats spells for itself. People love the food and I can see why. We met Kelly, the owners daughter and we chit chatted a little bit. Very down to earth and we can see she loves her customers. This place has been open for 38 years (turned 38 in November), so they have history Come by and give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

I've seen this place pop up on social media a couple times, so I wanted to give it a try. The pho here is good but pretty standard. I'd say it's not much different from the pho in the SGV. The service was excellent! I had some pho leftover to take home and the lady helped box my leftovers for me. She even separated the noodles from the soup so that the noodles wouldn't get soggy. Overall, decent pho but not much different from the SGV and not as good as the pho from the OC (e.g. Westminster, Garden Grove). I'd recommend giving it a try though!

Always the spot for a piping hot bowl of Pho on a cold wet night! It's packed as expected, 20-25 min wait during peak hours. Loud, active with whiffs of pho emanating from everywhere

Service was wonderful & food came out fast. One of the tastiest bun bo hue I've ever had, so much flavor and lots of meat. Will definitely be back

Best Pho in Los Angeles! By the time I first visited, Pho 87 was nearly 10 years old. There's a reason they are still going strong after over 38 years of operation. They barbecue their pork, so you get a rich bbq grilled flavor in the spring rolls or on the plates. The pho is a rich toasty brown color and all the spices and flavor float forward with each bite. I order the small pho tai, which is still challenging to finish. Generous portions of meat and fresh herbs and peppers with each order. Due to the fantastic quality of their foods, there is often a wait, especially on weekends. It's well worth it, walk in to add your rsvp to the list and in average about 20-30 mins later you are seated. They are well staffed, and efficient; from order to food on the table is 3-10 mins wait. Enjoy! :)

Came in on a rainy weekday afternoon craving some hot soup. The pho broth was well balanced and I wasn't dehydrated after the meal. Service is relatively quick and staff is friendly. Parking is in a narrow alley off the street, so be sure to come early to secure a parking spot as it gets busy quick.

My friend and I always said we need to try new restaurants but fail every time because we always ended up craving Marugame Monzo. They literally have the best cream udon in my opinion! They got the ratio RIGHHTTTT!! It's creamy but not crazy creamy that all you taste is heavy cream. I can taste the flavor from the protein!! The hand crafted udon noodles always cooked to perfection with the perfect texture. The noodles soaked up the sauce up so well!! I have tried different cream udon dishes here - the famous sea urchin cream udon, the carbonara udon, the mentai cream udon, the butter squid udon, etc... My fav would definitely be the mentai cream udon, as you get lots of yummy seafood (shrimps and scallops) in the sauce. The butter squid cream udon is also really good as well!! I like to pair my cream udon with a side of chicken karage!! I really like the batter that they use for the chicken! It's crunchy and airy and very well seasoned!! Service has always been amazing! There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.
