A new friend recommended this restaurant, as it was open late and very close to where we were leaving. Wonderful rec, as everything was so good! NOTICE: THEY DO NOT HAVE A PUBLIC RESTROOM! My friends got the beef teriyaki bowl and the spicy miso ramen, while I had the vegetable udon! The soup was perfect for the cold weather, and I loved how it was light yet flavorful! Will say that the service was a little slow to notice us, as we raised our hands a couple times but it took a while to take our orders and give us our check. However, the staff were so friendly that there's no complaints! read more

It's like a pop version of the parent (which will be opening this summer just off of Go for Broke plaza and 1st St in the new residences. More info on their IG suehirodtla Anyway, still great spicy karaage, I try to get the salad with salmon skin (though they run out a lot) and noting the smaller size, sometimes things aren't always available on the rarer items, but it is still a Suehiro. Still pleasant and friendly service with aged menus that haven't changed for decades other than prices. This one is always on the quieter side tucked into a mid-street strip mall around the corner across from Phoenix and Little Jewel (behind the corner General Store - which is a treasure hunt all its own, hint) They do a lot of delivery from this location, mostly fried and ramen. Parking is both lot and street, but hours are limited here. read more

Amazing great BEAUITFUL perfect on Uber Eats it's so good. The beef udon is amazing add everything to it it's so good

I didn't realize Suehiro had another mini location! Came here on a Tuesday evening around 8PM for dinner and there were only 1-2 other parties dining at that time. It is a relatively small location and there are no public restrooms, so just some things to keep in mind. I ordered the pork katsu don as it comes with a miso soup. The soup came out pretty quickly and the taste was perfectly salty. As for the katsu don, I found the pork to be rather tough. One of my friends ordered the karaage don, which looked a little more tender, so I'd maybe consider that if I were to return. I'd also come during lunch as they have pretty enticing deals during lunch hours! Overall, the service was kind and efficient, but I don't think I'll be itching to come back unless I'm in the area. read more

Suehiro Mini - Miso soup & pork katsu don - Ramen Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Cabbage salad - dressing is mayo heavy, but sesame flavored. Could useore sesame flavor, really. This salad is big. Enough to share for sure, even for several people, or to eat alone as your meal. It's not a small side salad. Good deal for the price. Chicken Karaage - also a huge portion. Same sauce as the salad dressing served on the side. Served piping hot, so very freshly fried. Very juicy with good tasting breading. Would definitely order this again. Unagi don - big pieces of nicely cooked soft unagi. Well cooked rice. Nice reel sauce. Served in a traditional box. Expensive, but they do this well. Tonkatsu ramen - not my favorite chashu. The pork broth was nice, the noodles had some density to them, which was nice. These aren't the super thin kind. All kinda of toppings you can add. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. There gave great recommendations and we're really kind throughout. Out food was served as it was prepared, and came out very fresh. This place is small indeed with only a handful of tables and some bar seating by the windows. Lots of to-go business. We were here at 10pm on a Friday night and seated immediately. Music is soft background, classic rock on the day we came. It's overall pretty chill in here - nicely quiet. Good AC and nice soft yellow lighting that it's still easy to see by. They do NOT have a restroom, even for customers, and they are careful to tell you this beforehand. Plan accordingly. read more

We did street parking with paid meter. The inside is small with minimal seating. The food took a long time to arrive, but I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. The ramen was okay to me...the noodles were a bit hard and the broth was a bit salty. Overall, it was okay, not the best ramen in my opinion, but maybe I'll try something else next time. Very cute mom and pop Suehiro. Very comforting vibes! My friends and I wanted Japanese food after a hockey game and all suehiros seem to close late so it's perfect. Located in Chinatown, parking was fine since it was near 10 pm. During the day time it may be a little busy. I liked how the worker warned us that they do not have a restroom for customers before seating us. At this time it was just one lady in the kitchen and one worker in the front. The menu is very small compared to SueHiro DTLA. The menu had different bowls, udon, soba, etc. I got a salmon chazuke! Delicious and great on a cold day. I highly recommend this location if you want real Japanese food. read more

We stopped by here really quick after a detour off of union station. Walkable but still 10+ min. Pretty small place but they have a nice atmosphere, staff were nice. Lots of options. We could've gone with a curry one but they said the are known for the tonkotsu so we went with that for a quick soup noodle. Broth is on the lighter side in my opinion, which could be good or bad. I thought it wasn't bad but nothing too special or stands out. The takoyaki was however very good. read more

I had a Chashu don and takoyaki. The Chashu don had a nice sauce but the slices were very thin and the meat was a bit hard. It also does not come with an egg, unlike the pictures. The takoyaki was a bit small compared to other places but otherwise ok. The lunch specials sounded really good but they only serve that during lunchtime. read more

Great hole in the wall spot for hearty Japanese comfort food. This was my second time here. We needed a quick lunch and this place met our needs perfectly. Service was friendly and food came out very quickly. My daughter was delighted by her curry udon and I got the oyakodon. There was paid parking in the lot, though a bit pricey. Would def come eat here again. read more

Everything at Suehiro Mini is delish!!! From the ramen to the udon and rice dishes nothing disappoints as it's all so fresh and flavorful!!! I personally am obsessed with their ramen and chasu don. Their protein is high quality and the portions are generous. The chasu is so meaty and fatty definitely the best chasu I've had anywhere. As for dessert I always get their black sesame Mont Blanc. The contrast in textures and the fresh berries make the cake so good. I know I'll be a loyal customer to Suehiro Mini for years to come!!!! read more

This is one of the few places that stays open late but just a note that there is no restroom access at the moment. I always ask the wait staff what is the most popular dish on the menu and at this place it was the Tonkotsu ramen bowl. Comforting food! Had the salmon chazuke, which had a mild and light flavor to my taste, the yakisoba and the beef don, which were both flavorful and the beef was surprisingly soft too. Gyoza was good and you can do half and half which was nice. I preferred the vegetable ones a bit more but both had nice flavor and the dough had good texture. I'd say the prices were fair too. read more

We came here on a random Wednesday night. Our regular spot at Olvera Street closed early. An easy walk from Olvera street it took us 6 minutes to get here. Arrived to an empty restaurant. Dining area is clean with a tv screen showing scenes from Tokyo. Staff was busy unpacking boxes so we asked if we were able to dine in. Staff could have been friendlier. Katsu curry was good. Nothing spectacular or different from any other Japanese restaurant. Tonkatsu was very good with all the toppings but only had 2 slices of pork. Cute Japanese restaurant in Chinatown. Went to Chinatown for Chinese food, but most restaurants were closed. Just remembered this Mini Suehiro was available. Quite often order Chicken Teri Don to go. Comes with Miso soup. Great lunch or dinner. Just call it in and pick it up. Oh, maybe your favorite delivery company can handle pick up for you. Doordash or Uber Eats. Oyako Don ( Chicken with Egg) is another rice dish that gets ordered also. That Miso soup just healed chase the food down. Great option in Chinatown for Japanese cuisine. Cha Shu Ramen is a good choice as well. Pretty filling and flavorful. read more

4/5 stars (Vegetarian here for a plant-based/vegan review): We visited Suehiro Mini in Chinatown after the Chinatown Neighborhood Night Market hosted by CCEDLA in October, but I'm posting this review after learning that Suehiro's Little Tokyo location is facing eviction. Suehiro is a small family run restaurant chain with two generations of history, and the location in Chinatown has a smaller menu and storefront than its other locations. We were seated around 10:30 pm and the store wasn't too busy but it took us around 20 minutes to get our orders in and another 20 for the food to come out. Service is on the slower side so if you're on a time crunch definitely factor that in! There are four vegan options: vegan tomato ramen, vegan mapo don, vegan vegetable udon, and vegan yakisoba. I ordered the vegan tomato ramen. The broth was super thick and flavorful, and topped with fried and battered zucchini, tomato, and eggplants. While the portion sizes are quite large, the broth had a bit of a one note flavor and wasn't able to continue eating after I got through half. They have to-go containers so I was able to bring home the rest and it served as another meal. My friends ordered a Haiyashi Rice and Curry Rice and both really enjoyed their meal too. Their portions seemed even bigger, so if you have a small appetite I recommend sharing! Though service wasn't the quickest, we still enjoyed our meal, and I would love to return to try the other vegan options. If you're in the Chinatown area, try this ramen spot (as well as other small legacy businesses who are being pushed out by wealthier corporations that are actively working on gentrifying Chinatown). read more

Hi this place is literally amazing ! First of all there's that lovely lady who works there amazing service she's so sweet! And the Udon feels like eating a warm hug idk how to explain it it's just so pure and homey it feels like my mom made it yknow. Also their miso soup is probably one of the best I've ever had !! Nothing can compare to the Little Tokyo location that is no more. DTLA Suehiro is nice but a very different, elevated experience. Suehiro Mini has a homey feel and lower prices plus the lunch specials that more resembles our lost restaurant. There are very few seats/tables. Many of the orders are pick-up or to-go. I went late at night and was able to be seated. It's a great spot for comfort dishes if you're passing through or in the area. I was glad to get the Hayashi Rice. The flavor is spot on! read more

Suehiro Mini - Hayashi Rice - Ramen Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Came here again since we were nearby. 8.5/10 - Karaage - hot and above average. Only issue is not crispy but the insides are top notch. Sauce is solid, more lemon allows for more sauce. The lemon cut is thick, nice touch. 9/10 Hayashi Rice - better than some more nicely done version, this is a more home cooked version. Same comments as previous, partner would repeat order this again as they have! 9/10 - Beef Teri Don. I suspected this would be good, it looks a little different than "normal" Beef w/ Teri Sauce which I will pass on if it's "bog standard, dry meat, with sweet sauce to cover that up". Here the strips of meat are thin, well seasoned, tastes good, very flavorful. Personally like it more than Tanin since I think the beef has more of it's own flavor and the onions pop more than the egg/onion sweetness kind of washing things out. Same server guy as last time at a late hour. He is very polite and props to him. Gave 20% tip because he was very helpful even though slammed with lots of stuff happening up to closing. read more

This is a small restaurant offering up a smaller menu of Japanese food compared to Suehiro Cafe in Little Tokyo. The menu included ramen, udon, soba, and appetizers. You would be hard pressed to find a quality lunch for under $10 these days! Well, look no further! I am so thankful to have found this lunch spot since I didn't feel like Olvera Street, Phillipes, or taking a car down to Little Tokyo. This is a short walk from where I visit often and just down the street from boba! I've eaten here three times and always ordered from the lunch special menu. Can you believe the Curry Rice is only $8.25? Miso soup included! I've had beef garlic Don and kimchi pork Don for under $10. By far, my favorite is pork kimchi Don. They don't skimp on the protein! Their lunch menu has 3 items of the day: noodle dish, rice dish, and curry rice -- all under $10. The server, Rie, is so kind! It's one of those nights when you get hungry in the middle of the night when most restaurants are already closed. Soehiro in Little Tokyo was one of my go-to places for late-night cravings, and I was pretty bummed when they permanently closed. I was curious about Soehiro Mini and decided to try them. It was located in a pretty sketchy small plaza. Parking is available inside the complex. We got there around 11 pm, and there are seatings available. We ordered ramen, and it was really good. Came here late on a Monday night; thought about going to the original location in little Tokyo but saw this location when checking the hours of the original and decided to come by. Not too many tables here but it being so late we didn't have an issue. It also seemed as if a lot of online orders were going out (a lot of drivers coming in n out as we ate). We ordered shishito peppers, koika (fried calamari), udon, chasiu don. My friend got hot tea which came from a pod, like keurig, not that it was bad just worth mentioning. Overall food and service were great. Also with this location being in Chinatown, parking is easy since most places near by were closed. Sad to hear about the original location having to move, hopefully this location sticks around. read more

I thought it was funny Suehiro is right in the middle of Chinatown! Not complaining at all. Feels really homey and everything is cooked like it's for a family member. Since its DTLA parking is a hit or miss, there's street parking and a small lot, but I wouldn't count on it being easy. The inside is quite small, there are a few tables for seating as it looks like lots of the food is taken to go. Zaru Soba: Awesome Soba is perfect in the cold dipping soup, full of flavor. Gyoza: Awesome Came out hot, crispy at the bottom and filling was flavorful. Karaage: Also awesome Crispy fried chicken, what more could you want. read more

It is not ok to ask for your service animal card when your animal is certified. You can not legally ask for that information and then box my dog in the corner be cause you don't like dogs. I'm referring to the elder lady that acts like she owns the place with no real customer service skills at all. We placed our dog in the place of a seat and she still complains about blocking the walk way, the food is ok but the older lady with gray hair has an attitude that made the food mediocre. RIP SUEHIRO BUT THIS PLACE STILL STANDDSSSS WHICH IM VERY HAPPY AND THANKFUL FOR!!! So with that being said, ive been wanting to try this place for a long time when I used to live in echo park and I haven't gone when I was but after the Rams vs Eagles game that night (rip rams lol) my friend and I wanted ramen and the place he suggested closed early and so I pulled this place up because this place was on the way anyways for going home. This place is tucked in a tiny alley way with a bunch of other stores and restaurants in that alley parking is also in the same alley but I believe it's 5 dollars to pay in that same alley and they don't validate anymore so park at your own discretion either it being in the parking spaces provided or on the street. Upon entering the place was quite dead but they weee very busy because they were sending out orders to drivers and receiving orders from online like crazy I think I heard the ticket machine shooting out orders for a good minute while they lady who helped us was also shouting out orders to the back room and checking and preparing the orders for delivery drivers, suffice to say the lady was working extra hard and well and she was the only one in the front of house to so props to her for handling it all, I suspect there's the owner but I could be wrong. So as we were seated I was looking through the menu and they had a variety of choices from four kinds of ramen to choose from with the toppings, ten different Udon, three different soba, and twelve different rice dishes to choose from they even have a kids menu too! I saw the one thing I was raving about to myself that I wanted to try because that's the reason why I wanted to go to this place but I'll have to go again next time because I got something else haha but that's ok because I can go back here to get that meal I wanted as an excuse. So the Hayashi rice with their suehiro beef stew is what I wanted to try because I haven't had hayashi rice in along time actually the last time I had it was probably in 2007 or something like that when my mom would cook it. But instead I got the Katsu don because I was craving Katsu haha so I got the Tonkatsu don since you can choose between chicken and pork I chose pork. I got a side of ajitama and green tea in a can. Our meals came with miso soup was great because I was kind of cold and something warm like that was great. Anyways when we received our food I went straight to that green tea and wow so good honestly I prefer the ItoEn brand and Suntory but the Pokka brand was pretty good! That miso soup hit and I honestly love miso soup I can have that all the time but what's funny was when i was growing up and living in Tokyo as a kid back in the 90s my mom said I never liked it lol. Anyways the Katsu don wa next man oh man I felt like crying a little because it was so good! The hint of sweetness and savory from the sauce always makes it so good. It's funny because when you're eating this Katsu don you're expecting to have a crispy cutlet on top of your rice but the fact that in my opinion when you braise that cutlet with the sauce makes for an interesting texture which I love it's like when you eat a fried chicken tender that's soggy but in this case it's soggy because it's been braised with the sauce they put in with it and cooked with an egg and plopped over rice and onions YES YES YES GIVE ME MORE lol. I loved every bite of it. I got the ajitama and ate it quick too haha lowkey only got it for extra protein haha but anyways over all I loved this place! It was so good and it really made me feel like a kid again. Of course again I'm kicking myself in the butt because I didn't get the hayashi rice but it's ok next time! I will say this too they don't have a restroom for you to use anymore. The lady made sure to tell you which was very considerate and actually a risk too because she could lose business from it because people would be upset without a restroom to use but it's understandable considering it's their employee restroom that they offered up for guests to use and for whatever reason they had to stop offering it is ok because maybe it's been abused and stuff. So for me I'm giving this a 4 star for now until I get to go back and try that Hayashi rice because that was my original intent! Overall I really liked this place and enjoyed my food! read more

We love the brick and mortar OG shop Suehiro, but also really love getting ubereats from Suehiro Mini. :) We get the Hayashi Rice and the Nabayaki Udon. The way they package their food is really thoughtful; the wet parts of the Hayashi rice are packaged separately from the rice. For the Udon, they put the insides (tempura, noodles, veggies) in a separate compartment than with the soup. That means you get all your stuff as-intended and not all soggy! It's sooo comforting and good! I recommend the above two dishes, but don't really recommend their shishito (which we did like at the OG location but was a little plain here) and also the serving of matcha cheesecake was really small for $7 (it was a sliver; like...two bites? @-@). Of course the crunchiness of the fried pork cutlet was soft and the egg no longer runny by the time I got it, it was still a tasty dish. Tender Katsu and the sauce made the eggs and rice so hard to resist but to finish it. I also got the watermelon cider soda, it was more sweet than sour. read more
