I would pass by this place A LOT. I swear it's been around for years!! I finally gave in & gave it a try! What I ordered: Chicken katsu (2/5) - dry, hard & sauce is just a regular tonkatsu sauce. I prefer the sweet katsu sauces. I'm not sure if I had old katsu or a batch that was laying out, but my katsu was so hard :( Baby back (pork) ribs (5/5) - tender, flavorful & saucy. I didn't have high expectations for this at all after eating my katsu. But save the best for last am I right? I need to try more items on their menu & I'll return with an updated review! read more

Was craving short ribs and a friend suggested Bob's, which looks like a ramshackle joint right off the road but don't be put off by appearances - they serve legit local grindz in the form of classic lunch plates. I was happy to see they offer mini plates, which was just the right size for lunch for me. Parking is a little difficult to maneuver because of the road construction but there are ample parking spaces. read more

I go there every Friday to pick up the steaks. The cashiers are wonderful. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to eat. Great local food. Give them a 10 out of 10. read more

We were looking for some bbq after traveller's the island. We hopped on Yelp and found this spot. Originally, we were looking for a sit down bbq spot but ended up in a small place where locals grab something to eat. We're glad we stumbled here. They have a small parking lot. Woooow! Their serving is huge and unexpectedly good. BBQ Mixed Ribs and Kalbi Short Ribs is what we got. Mixed ribs has a huge portion! Is it really bbq if your hands isn't messy when you eat? Yummm! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! If you want BBQ that tastes like the BBQ your uncle makes only on special occasions then had to Bob's BBQ in Kalihi. Its on the corner of Dillingham across from McDonald's. The BBQ is no joke! We got the Beef ribs with shrimp combo. First - dont wear white. You will get messy. These ribs are straight out of the Flintstones. Tender, smokey with the savory, tongue-tingling sauce. The sauce reminds me of stuff Ive had in North Carolina. Very old school. They give you a lot! Also the fried shrimp were crispy and had a decent sized shrimp. Both were really good. My husband is the Mac salad eater and he really likes the creaminess of the Mac salad. The prices are really fair - you get a lot for your $$. Parking is any spot you can find in the front, not marked well but everyone was respectful in making everyone had a place to park. read more

This is a multi-faceted review ... from time to time one of us goes down to pick up lunch for the gang and every now and then someone picks up breakfast. First, breakfast ... we always order the loco moco (~$6) and the French toast (~$5). The gravy for the loco moco is good, not too salty. The only issue is they don't always cook the eggs properly. One can ask for easy over and get easy hard. The French toast is great ... nice thick slices of bread, dipped in egg and cooked perfectly. Lunch, I always order the Polish sausage and baked beans (~$12) ... I love this plate. The BBQ Mix ribs (~$21) and other dishes like the Fat Boy Burger (~$6) are great but I can never get enough of the sausage and beans. Bob's food is not good for one's waistline but it's certainly great tasting food! read more

PERFECT FOR LATE NIGHT EATS growing up in Kalihi, you have your go to spots. And this will always be one of my favorites! I almost always get the kalbi and fried scallops plate, which is a good amount of food to share. But personally, I don't like sharing lol. Also. I've been craving their chocolate malt, it's been awhile. Honestly, so good. Even better than Wendy's frosty. It's a must try! Definitely worth the drive from Mililani, if you're in the area. Grab a bite and don't forget to get their chocolate malt also!! read more

Food coma inducing, glorious plate of meat paired with chocolate malt shake. PERFECTION! The rib meat was so tender they just fell off the bone. Slathered, I mean DRENCHED in BBQ sauce. Beef rib absolutely highly recommend! Pork ribs were good too but beef ribs are the way to go. Chocolate malt shake is absolute must! Like many others, I have passed this place many times. I always assumed that maybe it wasn't real BBQ and maybe closer to our teriyaki BBQ plates that we are used to at other places. After talking to a co-worker they convinced me to try this place. I'm not gonna lie, the place looks really old and a little suspect compared to what we might be used to now. However it seems the workers are happy and that's always good. Parking was easy and a big plus. I ordered the pork ribs and the hibachi chicken which I was told is very good. It immediately passed the "local test" as these 2 orders were very heavy. A cursory examination showed that the mac salad was in containers on the side. Very good! So how does it taste? The ribs were not fall off the bone but rather chewy in that you need to bite it off the bone. Some people like this. The hibachi chicken was ok and they gave 3 pieces. What was too bad was that they tasted similar because they were both covered with BBQ sauce. I kind of wish that they put the sauce on the side because the sauce is ok. Not a great sauce and maybe if I put my own, it might taste better. The rice left a lot to be desired. Places underestimate the importance of good cooked rice! But even McDonald's doesn't cook good rice most of the time. Bob's kind of reminds of Megs in that they have both been around a long time, but unfortunately for Bob's, BBQ awareness has grown a lot and now we know what fantastic BBQ can taste like (Sunset BBQ)and even chain BBQ like Tony Roma's has passed them. I would say even Dickies and Texas 808 BBQ is one step above. I am sure like Meg's, there are other plates that are awesome from Bob's but the BBQ is from the past. I have no problem believing that before the current crop of BBQ places came along, they were one of few places serving "real" BBQ ribs and chicken. read more

To preface, we came on Sunday morning, I wanna say around 9:30am ish and we were happy to see that there was lots of parking and no line! It was our first time here after hearing some great things about their bbq so we had to try it out! I got the mixed plate and my fiance got the fried shrimp and BBQ sauce chicken plate I believe? The mixed plate i ordered was SO GOOD! The meat was well marinated, flavorful, and tender to my surprise! My fiance enjoyed his plate as well although he did prefer the reg bbq chicken that I had vs the sauce one he had but the saucy version i feel was tasty as well. It was just a bit more sweet if you like that! The staff was friendly and patient while we decided what we wanted. Food came out pretty quickly which was nice, and we ate there. My toddler especially loved the kalbi. It was his favorite. We will guarantee be back :) read more

I haven't been here in quite some time. Stopped in today and tried that hibachi chicken and fried shrimp combo. Good size portions of food and will definitely fill you up. However, I didn't really care for the Mac salad. It's a little on the sour side and I'm not sure why. My wife had the hamburger steak and their gravy is super thick and was way too salty for her so definitely disappointing. read more

Super inexpensive for great quality. Loved the chocolate malt on a hot summer day. Great spot near the airport. Hardly anyone there. Really fast delivery. I got the hibachi chicken which was so flavorful. A little hard to cut but that's the only compliant. Mac salad and rice were great. Lots of chicken. Lots. The mait was so tasty. Another attempt to find a lunch spot out of the touristy area and came to Bob's BBQ. First off, it's a older stand alone building on the corner of a busy street. There's a few picnic tables out front to dine in. The ambience is rustic building with a small parking lot in front. Went for lunch and the place was busy, so you know it's good. Had the Teri Chicken plate and Mini shrimp plate. The chicken was so tasty and yummy. The shrimp was just OK. The service was quick and friendly. The price also was very reasonable. read more

This stand doesn't seem like much, but trust me... it's one of the best, most simple plate lunches you can ever eat in town! Bob's BBQ at the corner of Dillingham Blvd and Waikamilo Road. You can't miss the stand was it is made with brown wood material, and it's words are yellow. This place does have small tables up front, but I would caution that it is a very casual/sit-down eatery. Many folks take it to go, mostly because the eating area may not be the most ideal (with all the people, and birds around). Though, please also caution that this place does get busy, so just plan ahead. I ordered the hibachi chicken combo with fried scallops, and my fiancé ordered the barbecue spare ribs combo with fried scallops and a chocolate malt shake. The food took about 15 minutes, at most, to cook, which I thought was pretty fast considering how busy it was! The chicken had a prevalent smokey flavor to it and was still very juicy. The scallops were breaded in Panko, and was cooked to perfection. The barbecue spare ribs were absolutely giant, and was doused in a sweet, smokey bbq sauce. Both entrees were served on a very generous portion of white rice. Overall, meal was very worth the money, and tasted amazing! read more

#9 for 2021 Craved for sunny side egg over rice. Only get regular. No mini. I thought to myself let me take a chance, order loco moco, and pray for zero kanak attacks while on the clock. It worked! Two easy over eggs and rice cooked to perfection. Had difficulty differentiating after cutting and tasting humongous grilled hamburger patties if they're homemade or bought. Preferred gravy to have more fat from the source, less cornstarch/flour. Bob's Bar-B-Que is well known for their hibachi chicken. My husband loves it so much that he will be excited to have a birthday meal from here either take out or sit down on the bench with tables. They also have reasonably priced, great selection of catered menu items that tastes yummy! I've ordered twice during prepandemic. Almost all of the food were gone at larger gatherings. If only pandemic wasn't occurring, I would probably order again for another function. For now, that's on hold. Love their mac salad! Not fully drenched or plastered with mayo. So tasty! read more

Love this place. Hearty portions and always consistent. Call in your order and it will be packed perfectly for take out. I like the baked beans with sausage. Also the baby back ribs are good. You can substitute the mac salad for cole slaw, corn, toasted salad or Kim chee. Not the best parking g lot but it moves quickly. We've ordered from Bobs BBQ for 2 nights in a row. When I tell you their Teriyaki chicken and chicken katsu is superb it comes from many times ordering it from other locations. Sadly the second night they ran out of chicken katsu and had to change our order, but it was still a great find on the island. And the value is worth it If I'd offer any advice, it'd be to include or ask for a side of teriyaki as it was well seasoned but personally I like it covered, lol read more

The teriyaki burger is tiny and dry but I would rather it than anything at McDonald's but not L&L's or Teddy's. So, I'm still on the hunt for a good teriyaki burger. If you have suggestions please comment! Fries were good. Beef kalbi and bbq chicken had a good taste. A little salt on the Mac salad would help. Ordered Beef Rib plate. It's our usual. Normally we get the snack size plate but we wanted 4 ribs for us to share so opted for the regular plate. Well, after opening the plate when we got home, I was in shock that as you can see per the pic I attached, we got 4 ribs, but in actuality, 2 of it was bare bones with just burnt fat hidden in BBQ sauce with very little meat. This was barely enough for 2 people to share. Gosh, to top it off, the quality of the food definitely went down from the last time I came here. They say support local, but how when $18 plate isn't even worth it. I don't know if I'll be back again. Hopefully they improve the quality of their food. read more

A reliable place for late dinner or too lazy to cook days. They're open til 11:00pm, so pretty late. We always call in our order so waiting time is minimal. Our go-tos are: Mixed plate, chicken cutlet with gravy on the side, Bob's meal which comes with a cheeseburger, fries (you can substitute curly fries!) and a fountain drink. The mixed plate is great if you're not sure what to get, or if sharing with family. They also offer the option to swap mac salad for: kernel corn, toss salad, cole slaw or kimchee. Their kimchee is excellent, unsung hero. We typically opt for the $5 side of it. For dessert, get the chocolate malt! It is soo good! read more

This place was really good. It's a great quick option if you are looking for an affordable place to eat. They have an outside eating area they do not have a parking lot. However, we were able to find street parking close by and walk to it. I don't think this place has bathroom so it's probably not a place that you want to stay long if you have to use the bathroom often. There is a couple restaurants nearby that have bathrooms that you might be able to use. The food was very good and the service was great. All of the staff was very friendly and nice. A great takeout place which is what we did. read more

That being said, somehow, there was something missing. I am not quite sure what, but I think it's from the actual hamburger patty. I really wanted to say this was one of the best burgers I've had but there was something that just didn't quite get me there. For a wagyu patty, I think I needed it to be richer, and to hold its own with the other ingredients, but it felt like the add-ons were carrying the burger. I mean, I felt like the bread was doing more than the patty itself. Maybe the patty got a bit overdone and would've worked better medium rather than medium-well to well-done? I really can't be sure. Will I go back? Yes, for sure. I am curious about all the other burger variations they have with the fried Kimchi and the Umami mayo. Maybe I'll even try The One fries with all the fixings. And if they could just find that one tweak, they may turn out to be one of the best burgers around.

Always Always Always love Bob's Bbq!!! Iconic spot since forever!!! I'm happy that they won't be totally closing down due to the useless, way overpriced, eyesore, etc etc... rail. How is MCD able to stay but Bob's has to move?? Very telling and obvious (like with everything else) on the government corruption that we face everyday. Anyhoo... always consistent, always delicious, service is always good and quick and they haven't skimped on the quantity and quality of their plates. Chocolate malt fave hands down. I usually love coming to Bob's especially for their grilled ahi, which is usually cooked to perfection. However, during my recent visit, I was really disappointed with the dish. The ahi was overcooked this time, and it just didn't have the same flavor or tenderness I've come to expect. While waiting, I noticed the cook chatting quite a bit while preparing my meal, which may have distracted from paying attention to the cooking. I love bbq...both the ketchupy and the teriyaki kine. And Bob's makes both kine, and both super ono! I also like meat with bone and their ribs and kalbi are both winnas! The only reason I'm not giving it 5-stars is because they really need to redo their outdoor seating area. It's disgusting! The tables are sticky and benches falling apart. There are flies everywhere and you have no choice but to do takeout. I realize there's lots of homeless people around and stuff, but still put in some plastic tables/benches so you can just shoot them down everyday. read more

Located for decades at the corner of Dillingham boulevard and Waiakamilo Road. Purchased the Bob's meal for my father in law who has become a picky eater. He rarely eats the entire burger, but he finished his bbq burger and fries with ease. Three person staff, a cook, kitchen helper, and cashier. They were friendly and helpful. The only downside is I wouldn't recommend eating in the open area seating on a trade wind day. I swear this company's biggest sales advantage is the wonderful aroma that you smell when driving anywhere near by. I am huge on their burgers and also their steak plates. For the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, the lemon taste was pretty concentrated in the middle of the pancake/not well distributed and we couldn't really taste the ricotta flavor, but it was pleasantly sweet (not too sweet). For the Chorizo Hash, I was a little bit sad that it wasn't very flavorful and the Chorizo wasn't well cooked. The Molokai Loco Moco's flavor receives the same review as the Chorizo Hash; although it was special/the first time we'd had Loco Moco like that, it was pretty soggy/watery and lacked flavor. The food itself in my opinion gets a 3.5/5, but because they were timely and friendly as a staff, I'm bumping our review up to a 4! P.S: This location is in the corner of a neighborhood street and Kam Hwy and the parking is pretty small/limited!

The chips tasted fresh and homemade, and I even used some of the tuna that fell out of the sandwich as a dip for the chips, which was yummy! The staff was friendly, and I appreciated how easy it was to place an order by phone and pick it up without any hassle. Parking was also a breeze, plenty of stalls available next to the building, so there was no need to worry about finding parking. Overall, Leilei's is definitely a treat yourself type of meal. I was lucky to park in one of the two free stalls in front of the shop. There's a funny sign that warns customers to just park there for 10 minutes and "don't eat in your car". LOL!
