I drove by Bob's twice and decided from looking at it that I should try it. That might say something about me considering it's not the most beautiful place you'll ever see, but I'm not here to review the building. My order of Teriyaki chicken was delicious! Standard teriyaki chicken with dark meat- I had some pretty fatty pieces but it was otherwise so tasty. The fried shrimp that came with my combo (choice of fried scallop or shrimp) were I think coated in panko bread crumbs. They were so crispy and yummy. Rice and Mac salad were pretty standard. My husband got the Bbq ribs. Now when he ordered he apparently didn't specify whether he wanted beef or pork ribs. Both are on the menu but we still can't confirm what he had. They look like beef ribs to me but we are no experts. Either way they were really yummy! They seemed to easily come off the bone for him. They did have a fair amount of sauce on them so if that's not your thing then steer clear. Our other two guests both got loco moco plates! They looked good to me! Gotta love brown gravy smothered eggs n hamburger steak. We didn't have to wait too terribly long for our food after ordering and we ate in at a table they have available. Certainly not a glamorous experience by any means but we enjoyed it. If you're too boujee then you can take your bbq to go. All in all, if you want a yummy meal- reasonably priced for a large portion of food then check it out and try something new! I'll definitely return to Bob's. read more

After watching a YouTube video of bbq with my son I knew I needed to find some beef ribs! Now back in Texas this was an easy task..here in Hawaii, not so much. Two huge beef ribs, half a rack of baby backs, one piece of kalbi, one piece of teriyaki beef, and two pieces of teriyaki chicken. With the trusty white rice and mac salad. All for just $27! Our friends, Jace T. and Dan O., joined us and we chatted away like no time had passed! (By the way, Jace is the Duke of this place with 155 check-ins!) Located at the busy corner of Dillingham and Waiakamilo, Bob's has been here a very long time. Maybe my dad brought me here before I could remember? Anyway, this open-air establishment has a free parking lot and reasonable prices. I got the Super Combo for $27 because it has everything: kalbi, beef ribs, baby back ribs, teriyaki chicken, teri beef, three scoops of rice, and macaroni salad. The beef ribs had a slightly tangy sauce and were really tender! The baby back ribs were a little disappointing since they were a bit dry and hard. The chicken, kalbi, and teri beef were flavorful and moist! Yum! The mac salad was ok and the rice was normal... haha! This was the perfect local spot to meet for Russ and Jessica's last dinner in Honolulu. The trade winds gave us a cool environment as we feasted in their rented van. We watched the sunset amidst the passing traffic and Rail construction. The Kalbi, BBQ chicken & Teri Beef was so delicious, reminds me of when you have a BBQ at home & you cook to have it slightly charred. The Teri Sauce is so delicious and makes the rice taste so Ono. Talk about a Local Classic! I grew u on Bobs Bar-B-Que, ate here almost every weekend with my family when growing up in Kalihi. I came here last night for a bite to eat with very limited restaurants open right now I was glad to see this gem open late until 10 PM. If you've been to Bobs in the past, not much has changed. We ordered Bbq Chicken plate, Bobs meal with curly fries, and Teri chicken combo. Food was good, tasted like your own back yard bbq. Portion size was generous and prices were fair. I have to recommend ordering a chocolate Malt seriously so good and goes perfect with their fries! This place is great! It feels like you are going back in time to when holiday mart, emjays, and "come be my neighbor at ponderosa pines, call now for sure" were in common. If you don't know what I'm talking about that's okay I'm not sure most of the time myself. I got Teri chicken plate and it was huge! My wife got a loco moco and she thought the gravy was a little salty but she loved the giant fries. I also got a Teri burger with cheese that was sooo good. If you're wondering why we both ordered two plates it is because I was really excited and over ordered, we still got leftovers for our next meal! Score! I've passed this place many times while driving in the Kalihi area but never stopped. My partner and I had just finished a call and we were leaving QMC Punchbowl and wanted something quick. My partner suggested Bob's and to Bob's we went. First off, there was lots of parking! I ordered the pork chops and man was I pleasantly surprised! The seasoning that they put on was perfect and the char from the grill made the pork chops so delicious. The portions were huge and the prices were reasonable which makes it even better! As good as it gets for a bar-b-que plate lunch! I haven't eaten at Bob's for at least 10 years, but stopped by the other night for dinner. It was better than I remembered! Located on the corner of Waikamilo and Dillingham, across from the Waikamilo McDonald's, this stand-alone building has its own small parking lot. They also have their own website, so you can see the menu and phone in your order. This is especially good if you aren't living the thug life and the thought of waiting for your food in Kalihi makes you nervous. I had the teri chicken and fried shrimp combo and a fat burger. The chicken was just right. Similar to the standard BBQ chicken found at most places, but with a touch more teriyaki sauce. It was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of burnt char. The shrimp was nicely fried, not greasy, and came sans tail (lol, no tail). It came with mac salad which was good, but that can be substituted for Kim chee, toss salad, or cole slaw. The fat boy burger is a teri burger with an egg. The burger was delicious with a rich and thick teri sauce and the egg was fully cooked perfectly. If you need a good plate lunch, or need to show a visitor a "traditional Hawaiian plate lunch," this place fits the bill. read more

Bob's BBQ is one of landmark on Dillingham Blvd. We all have passed by this place and seen it. It's located on the corner of Dillingham and Waiakamilo Road. It's a busy intersection especially with so many construction around the area. Anyhow, I have never tried this bbq place until today. This place has been here as long as I can remember. We ordered kalbi and baby back ribs. If you appreciate open fire, smoke bbq then you'll like the flavor. I will say the kalbi was on the burnt side but it had a nice smoke flavor to it and it wasn't overly chewy but good. Baby back ribs was glazed with their own sauce and also flavorful and soft. Parking is free and they have many stalls in front of the store. There's sitting areas but it's little run down. If you're not too familiar with this area please be vigilant. read more

Commercials of the past. The beef rib combo with 2 hot, flavor-packed, fall off the bone, sweet BBQ, very small fried shrimp & Mac salad. This place has been around for a while, it's located in kalihi.. they offer plate lunches, has some benches for seats and few parking in front. I've had bobs many times, work often orders from her for our big birthday luncheons and there's never complains. I had to pick up a kalua pork fundraiser ticket so I ordered a kalbi plate. It's actually a lot tastier with the sauce in the rice and the kalbi is very tender. When I've had this at work, it's cold so the taste wasn't as good but meat is still tender. So good! I think this place is more of a local spot than tourist-y, so the prices are really reasonable. The menu is expansive and the portions are huge. We got the kabli plate, cheese burger, and curly fries. The kalbi comes with 2 scoops of rice, it's more than enough to share between 2 people. The burger was fine, nothing special. Hubby got off work at 8 pm and was hungry so we ended up here since they close at 10 pm. It wasn't busy when we pulled up. Hubby ordered ribs and got me and my daughter the cheeseburger combo which comes with fries and a drink. I had a Diet Pepsi. The cheeseburger was good and cooked fresh. The fries were hot and good! I'd say Bobs is a 4+. Never been disappointed on any order I've made there. The rice is never bottom of the cooker crunchy, the portions are always right, and the food just tastes like it's supposed to taste. Not a fancy joint, just a good plate lunch location. FOOD - My go to here at Bob's BAR-B-QUE is their HIBACHI CHICKEN (Boneless) and their Kalua pig. Other items their known for is their BBQ RIBS. But they also have different food options on their menu from seafood scallops, fish, and other meats like kalbi. One thing I wish they serve here is BROWN RICE. As for SEATS they do have about 5/6 tables with connected chairs, so if you do want to eat your food their you can.
