I first heard about Bobo's whilst researching essential food stops in Tucson. For 40 years this little restaurant located midtown has been whipping up amazing breakfasts and lunches. Seriously, it popped up on every single Arizona food recommendation list. I totally understand why. Bobo's signature dish is their Blueberry Banana Pancake (1 for $5.99 or 2 for $8.59) and that's what I went for. Being almost too big for its place, this gargantuan cake is a sugar-lover's dream. Juicy blueberries generously placed throughout the entire along with fresh, caramelized bananas in a sweet cream mixture, every bite is bursting with flavor. I say with 100% confidence this is the best fucking pancake I've ever had in my entire life. I wanted each bite to last longer. My heart died a little very time I noticed the pancake getting smaller and smaller. I wish I got another. I'm now on a mission to conjure this otherworldly dish in my own house but I know I will fail. I think I would fly to Tucson just for a morning to eat this one more time. That's how freaking good it is. Not in the mood for something sweet enough to send you to another dimension? Alright. Bobo's also has an extensive list of delicious, stuffed omelette ready for your belly. My husband ordered Bobo's Veggie ($7.29). This extraordinary dish was packed with fresh onion, tomato, bell pepper, spinach, Swiss mushrooms and sour cream. Talk about loaded! It was so good. Like SUPER good, my tummy rumbles just thinking about it. The service was spot on! Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. She was so nice from the start. I know that there are a variety of reviews on here about this place with some swearing they can't do it because it seems "grimy" or "dirty"...not my words, theirs! Ok, so considering it is a local diner and yes, may not be sparkling in your eyes, but we come for two reasons...the food and the staff! We've never had a bad experience here, with either of these things. Our doubter about the biscuits & gravy ordered biscuits and gravy (just one because they are good sized!) along with link sausage and two eggs over medium. And...the verdict is? We have converted him to Bobo's whenever he has that biscuit and gravy craving! Bobo's is like that hidden fishing hole no one is aware of, except it's hidden in plain sight; an around-the-way Tucson treasure! We decided to seee what the buzz was all about after noticing the high Yelp ratings. We arrived around 9am, signed in for seating and waited about 10 minutes before we went inside. The overall vibe in my opinion was more of an older hometown favorite than a hole-in-the-wall eatery. It looks to have been around for decades in it's compact confines social distancing has no problem being followed. The food we ordered (biscuits and gravy, cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage also corn beef hash and diced potatoes and assorted side dishes) was served as a meal...ready to eat. I enjoyed the pecan and apple pancake the best; it felt like my taste buds had stand up and take notes of the ingredients. The eggs mixed with the cheese perfectly the bacon crisp and the sausage juicy. It made for a wonderful dining experience. The staff was friendly and talkative as well. I asked for a brief history of the place and our main server happily obliged. Then she exclaimed she was the owner and had other family members working alongside her that day too. It's a family affair, indeed! We left at the end of our meal with full bellies and smiles on our faces...and with the knowledge that we will be back one day too. We have been coming to Bobo's for years and really love the "homey" vibes. It's like Cheers where "everybody knows your name" and we have found that from time-to-time you just really need that sort of energy. Now that I've shown my age, I'll tell you all that the service is wonderful here. They are always warm,friendly and accommodating. The food is exactly what you'd expect: basics but done really well. I got the pancake, eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon plate. The pancake is HUGE and delicious and the sausage and bacon have great flavor. The hubby got the egg sandwich and it too was delish! Simple but perfectly executed. The prices are so reasonable, too. We actually had a really satisfying and filling breakfast for around $20 for the two of us. You can barely eat at a fast food restaurant for that much and the food wouldn't be a 1/10 as good. Highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a bite! read more

Saw the reviews stated a little mushy or not much texture. It paid off. Eggs were eggs and toast was toast. The service from the time you were greeted, to the host staff topping your coffee off, wait staff and even the bussing was so so friendly. This is definitely a little gem in Tucson. Although small, this place is mighty. If you went to any large chain breakfast places instead of here, you should be arrested by the taste police and thrown in a food re-education camp prison! Lil mom and pop shop, seems pretty popular. A friend and I dropped in on a Monday and it was packed but the wait wasn't long. They're open from 5-2pm. I had an omelette packed full of veggies, came with breakfast potatoes and toast. The potatoes weren't really of the breakfast kind but good none the less. The omelet was delicious and the pancake was a bit dry, probably because it was so big but I appreciated the size. The blueberries seemed fresh. I want one of these where I live. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the relaxing ambiance of the staff and interior design makes you feel at home. The staff was observant and came to refill my coffee three times to make sure my cup was never half empty. The staff was always rotating tasks and keeping themselves busy to make sure the customers never had to ask for anything. I haven't seen this in a very long time. Breakfast and coffee were delicious. The chicken fried chicken was juicy and the gravy was the perfect complement. Eggs were a delight and were very flavorful. This dish also comes with some toasts which were soft and buttery. Having finally been able to get inside without standing in line, I have to admit I'm at a loss to explain Bobo's reputation. I went with one of my standard meals, country friend steak. I will say the coating on the steak was outstanding, the biscuit was also quite good. On the other hand, the vegetable and mashed potatoes were room temperature and the gravy tasteless. The service was non-existent. I never did get a straw form my fairly good iced-tea. My check was dropped next to my neighbor at the counter, who was kind enough to give it to me. Very disappointed in Bobo's, again. As long time regular customers, the past to visits were made us reconsider frequenting this "popular" breakfast spot. In the past, a new cook being trained ruined our breakfast order (didn't see him still working there). This time the food was again very subpar. Server took order quickly, but we waited a long time for our food. My once favorite Bobo's Special Omelet, the chicken livers, onions, and sour cream was SO SKIMPY and missing all the ingredients; barely any sauteed chicken livers, just a few slices of onion, and practically no sour cream..... this omelet used to be so large I could barley finish it. Server never returned to refill coffee, brought our toast after we were half done eating, and originally forgot our side of salsa (which was absolutely nothing.... a couple of little pieces of tomato chunks, a few diced onions, one small slice of a jalapeno chili pepper, all warmed up to almost a liquid amounting to 3 tiny teaspoons of salsa). A disgrace. My wife's omelet was terrible, thin oily egg, and nothing like the generous portions we used to get at Bobo's.... definitely not worth the money due to mediocre service, value, and food. And the bill had an overcharge for one of our omelets... cashier corrected the amount. read more

Their pancakes are huge, fluffy, dreamy discs. One of their pancakes is easily the equivalent of four or more standard-size pancakes that you might get elsewhere. They offer a variety of add-ins, like banana, apple, blueberry, chocolate chips, and pecans. I'm partial to the banana pancakes; the bananas end up caramelized, with amazing little crunchy bits that taste like the top of a creme brulee. We like to support local when traveling. No chains or place we can get at home. This place has a great following on google so we thought we would try it. Added our name to the list and there was a steady flow of people going in and coming out. They are short staffed so could not fill all the tables or the team would be overwhelmed, guests would complain about poor service and hurt the overall busienss. They all work as a team as multiple people took care of us. Never had to ask for a water glass refill. Sadly because of labor issues they will be closed several days to train new staff. Only complaint is the bathroom could have used a little attention. read more
