I could not find a 0 star rating other wise I would have chosen that. First let me say that my wife and I both love BBQ and have stopped in Restaurants specializing in BBQ throughout the USA. Including the Phoenix area, Texas, Memphis, St. Louis, KC, Kentucky Florida and on and on and on. This was our worst experience. We stopped in about 4PM after smelling the smoker from the street and spoke with Bobbie who raved about his BBQ. We questioned what he was saying because he was the owner and he stated that we must believe him because he has too much integrity to say other than the truth. We promised to return about 5pm after the local stores had closed and give it a try. We returned as promised even though some of the other reviews were less than stellar and asked to speak again to Bobbie. We should have been suspicious when although the restaurant closed a 6pm he was already gone. There was only one waitress and the customers were just beginning to pour in because the local shops had just closed. We question the waitress about the size of a half slab portion of 5 ribs since a whole slab consists of either 13 or 14 bones. She said 5 was all she served. Regardless we ordered a combo plate with ribs and pork and a side of beans served a piece of corn bread. A bit pricey but we figured we would split it and order an extra side and something additional if there was not enough food. Two beers to be served with our dinner. We sat with no service until I noticed plastic forks and knives with the salt and pepper on the table. No napkins but some of the empty table had rolls of paper towels so I got up and retrieved a roll of paper towels for our table. By now there were probably about 20 or more people sitting very few eating. Still only one waitress. Finally the food arrived after about 30 minutes. BTW the waitress brought a sample of the cole slaw for us to try and it was totally tasteless so we waited for our food to order a second side. The ribs were barely warm. The beans and pork were cold and inedible. They were suppose to serve sauces to the table but non arrived so again I got up and searched the area to retrieve some for our table. I also walked toward the kitchen when a saw a waitress getting ready to walk out. I asked why she was leaving since the only waitress there could not seem to be able to cover the area. She said she was told to leave. I then told another man in the area about our food being in edible and he offer to bring me more pork and beans. I did not complain about the ribs and cold corn bread. In about 5 minutes he returned with edible food. Not good but edible! I SUPPOSE YOU HAVE READ ENOUGH BY NOW!!! read more

We went to Jerome to see some of the sights and when we smelled the aroma in the air I asked a local where the sweet smell was coming from and she said Bobby D's so we headed there. Upon entering we were met by the manager (Connie) who is possibly the sweetest person in all of Jerome. She kindly stated that they opened at 11pm and it was 10:25. Our bus was leaving at 10:45 so I asked if there was anything she could provide. She talked with the cooks and sweet talked them into getting us some brisket and pulled pork, man were both of those delicious! My buddy tried their own special sauce and I tried the spicy BBQ sauce. They don't put much sauce on the meat so you can enjoy the taste that you prefer. I'd highly recommend stopping by for some BBQ and tell Connie she is loved by those crazy people God sent all the way from Indiana. Praying for you friend. read more

This place has got to be a joke right? I cannot even think of one nice thing to say about this place other than thank god it's over! The staff was dismal. With two other tables we waited for 20 minutes before getting our orders placed. Some manager(possibly owner?), he's in the pictures with the smoker, was yelling and acting like a jerk to everybody. That's putting it nicely about him. Even that doesn't compare to the disgusting food. We got ribs that were definitely fall of the bone, because they were burnt off. Cole slaw was gooey and the bite I tried was bland. At this point I was done. At least the fly found in my chipped mason jar of warm beer found a way out of this place. read more

Came here for breakfast. I ordered plain pancakes and red potato hash (with red peppers and onions) and my boyfriend ordered eggs, bacon and hash browns. The pancakes had to be the fluffiest pancakes I've ever seen. Very tasty, although I wish they would have asked me if I wanted a ton of butter melted onto them. The red potato hash was very good, even though I asked for it to be well done and crispy, and it was not well done at all. Still good, and even better with some of their bbq sauce. My boyfriend's food was really good - we both agree it was THE BEST bacon we've ever had. His hash browns, however, seemed like they may have been out of a frozen package. The girl working (maybe the owner?), was so nice, she even offered to reheat our coffee we had brought in from somewhere else. Cant wait to come back and try some lunch or dinner! read more

Best ribs I've had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned and the meat just melted off the bone. Corn bread was nice and hearty, not too sweet, and the cole slaw was perfect, not too much mayonnaise. We sat out on the patio and even though it was raining, we were dry at a table close to the restaurant. The waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive. Will definitely go back. Loved it. read more

The Z-Man without the cheese is something I crave and drove up from Phoenix to get, several times. I am nearly a vegetarian but have fish now and then, but the pulled pork and sauce and cole slaw with the granny smith apples, cool staff, view from the open air dining and huge servings makes me break my healthy habit and indulge and feel GREAT about it! You have to go down the little hill and follow your nose to find it, and then you will be hooked for life! The back road up to Jerome for tourists is stunning on a good day and fun on a bad day if you have a fearless driver and good breaks. If you miss Bobby D's, well, I am sorry for you. Even vegans fall prey to the pulled pork sammie. Mmm Mmm YUM! read more

I wrote an earlier review that disappeared??? I had a terrible experience. The server was horribly rude...they were out of all sides except 2. There was blue gum on the underside of my plate...wasn't mine..food was mediocre..The gum was noticed by my son after I had eaten half my plate. Yuck!! This was on mother's day. I normally love this place. It had always been a recommendation to friends and I always stop here when I am in Jerome. Then this weekend I was there with a couple of friends. We had a few beers and were thinking about getting lunch, when a waitress indicated they had people waiting for our table. She came back a few minutes later and said something again. I finished the last drink of my beer when she said the table is for paying customers implying we should leave. I looked at my now finished beer in confusion since the beer had not been free. We were never offered menus at this point. I looked at the waitress and responded that I guess this means we have to find somewhere else to have our lunch. She said ok and walked away. My friend went inside to complain and I followed her. There was an open booth inside. So they had some open tables. When my friend started explaining this situation the manager came up, indicated they needed the tables for paying customers. After a few minutes the manager actually walked away while we continued to talk to Toni, a wonderful waitress and customer service rep. This was a very disappointing experience. I will never recommend this place again. In fact since we had to find a new place for lunch, we found not only a better place to eat but an incredible staff. read more

My husband & I decided to look around a bit before heading over to the Mile High Grill for dinner & boy, I'm glad we did. We ended up at Bobby D's instead. The service was friendly & prompt. We ordered a couple of cocktails & a half order of onion rings before dinner. Our server didn't skimp on the alcohol in either the Wicked Tea or the Arizona Sunset. Both were perfect & paired nicely with the onion rings, which we enjoyed while watching the sunset from the patio. For dinner, my husband ordered the Dark Spicy Crispy Chicken & I ordered the Bbq platter with pulled pork & brisket. Wow...everything was delicious, especially my husband's chicken. It lived up to its name. I'm glad we decided to give this restaurant a try. We are already talking about what we are going to try on our next visit. read more

Wow! From the moment we walked into this place, it was nothing short of a great experience. They closed at 8:00pm, we walked in at 7:55pm and Ashley (the server) and the owner of the place, Bobby D, welcomed us in with a smile. Bobby was such a great guy, told us some funny stories and told us a little about the town of Jerome. The BBQ is the best I've ever had. I'm from Tennessee and I know good BBQ, this was AMAZING! They have a wide variety of sandwiches and really yummy sides(corn bread, baked beans, coleslaw and Mac n cheese...which unfortunately was so delicious that they had ran out by 8pm. Bobby D even offered to make some for us after they had already closed.) They have a wide variety of cocktails, all made from scratch by Ashley and served in mason jars. They also had some really great beers on tap. This place has really great history also, definitely worth checking out! It will not disappoint you. read more

If you enjoy short tempered, rude, and apathetic waiters then Bobby Ds is the perfect place for you. While waiting on our sub par food, Kevin, our waiter, sloshed BBQ sauce all over my families clothes and belonging. Was there an apology? No. Just a quick glance and an "oh did I get ya" remark. A shirt and bag are now ruined not from our own doing, but by a careless and apathetic waiter. Prior to coming to the restaurant, I had stopped at a lovely farmers market and bought a few peaches and tomatoes. I wanted to eat one for dinner and didn't seem to think that would be a problem. Boy, was I mistaken. When I asked for another knife to cut up my tomato, ill tempered Kevin, obviously annoyed at my simple request, retrieved the silverware and then slammed it down right in front of me on the table. In the midst of his tantrum, with a loud and condescending tone he exclaimed:" ugh, I wish you didn't bring that in here. you can't bring outside food in here. It's against our health code. " After the initial shock wore off, I was appalled that someone would speak to another person that way; especially, to have a waiter yell and throw something at you in a restaurant. Please do not give this restaurant your service. Customers should NEVER be treated like I was treated. A simple and calm statement explaining their policy on outside food would have been more sufficient and appropriate. read more

Went here today with my hubby, kids, and grandson. This honestly is the BEST BBQ that I have had in a long while, and I don't give praise to BBQ too often since my husband is a genius when it comes to smoked meat. We all had different variations of sandwiches with the pulled pork and they were all SO delicious. The meat actually had a good smoky flavor and the cole slaw on the sandwich was delicious! My grandson had their hot dog kids meal and it actually appeared that it had been grilled instead of steamed like so many other places and he gobbled it up.Their sauce was outstanding and I wish they sold it so you could enjoy it at home. The onion rings had a great tempura type batter that allowed you to get a good taste of the onion inside, and if I am not mistaking I think that the ranch and the ketchup were also homemade. Our server was friendly, prompt, and very accurate. The view well... just phenomenal. We will definitely be visiting next time we are in Jerome! Well done Bobby D's! read more

I have NEVER complained, sniveled about a place but this is my first I cannot understand all the good reviews but here goes my brutally honest assessment . First I have 4 young kids so we don't give a shit about ambiance or décor. its a rib joint. Nice seating area outside. Great for sitting back and having a few after a long hot ride.Being from AZ we don't mind the flies,,its a part of life in the desert. I realize most of the traffic that comes through Jerome is tourist but I was saddened by the lack of care that the food showed . First the soft drinks were the worst we have ever tasted. I know, blame the water. Don't the owners taste it themselves? Filters can remove most of the problem. The pulled pork was watery, the bun fell apart immediately, and was void of any flavor. It was also partially cold. The barbq sauces were watery ,the coleslaw tasted like it was made from rotting fruit. Totally inedible. The hotdog tasted like crap. Had to be the worst ever tasted. How cheap can you get with your provisions? My kids will eat anything and they all rejected their food. The mac and cheese had a gritty texture. Even the iced tea sucked...bad. Very disappointed by the food, felt like this is an" FU tourist we got your money now go'" feeling. Shame on you for serving this slop. read more

I went here for my birthday weekend with my girlfriend, as this seemed like a perfect place to try in the lovely town of Jerome. It was around 7pm and the place was pretty empty. The tables were dirty, but i will say -- when we walked in we were greeted by the manager and he cleaned a table for us and sat us down. We looked at the menu and were reviewing the combo meals. There was one brisket combo meal which caught our eye, as we both wanted that. We did decide though to get the 'pick 2' combo meal, where we each could get our own BBQ choice of meat, a biscuit, and a side, as we thought we may actually be getting a bigger portion of meat, since this option was a dollar more expensive. He was nice when taking the order, and the wait was not too long. Here is where everything went quickly downhill. When the meal was delivered, it was on one single plate, when he knew it was us two, splitting the meal. So he went and got us another clean plate, so i could steal food from the main plate. Before he left us to eat, i asked " what is the difference in portion size between this 'pick 2' combo and the brisket combo?" he replied that there was no difference at all. So i asked then if i could have my bill reduced in price, as -- if i am not getting more food-- why should i pay for it? He flipped the heck out. He slammed the table, raised his voice, and told us that we need to be better customers and next time to ask these kind of questions before we order. We were stunned to say the least. never have i been treated so bad. We said to him " look, i don't know if you are having a bad day or what, but we are willing to tip you even more then the dollar -- we just want to have good customer service. Can you not see where i am coming from on this? if there is no difference between the two meals, we shouldn't be getting charged the higher price". from there he continued to raise his voice and curse in front of us and an older couple next to us. I asked if i could please talk to the manager of the restaurant, and he very rudely replied " I am the manager, what the f*ck you gonna' do now?!". He slammed the table and said " eat your food and get the f*ck out". needless to say, we did walk out and lost our appetite. This was such a small issue that got blown out of proportion. The manager of this place is an out of control grown child. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice place to eat. Please, save your money and go to the Haunted Hamburger, which is right around the corner. They treated us like actual people there and had great service. read more
