I used to love Bob Evans. For the last three years we've not had one nearby, so it's been awhile since we'd eaten there. Today we were so looking forward to "coming back." But wow, their food has really deteriorated. Used to order the "everything omelette," which is no longer on the menu, so I ordered the "build your own" three-egg omelette. The fillings were dried out - they obviously had been sitting around under a heat lamp or something. I'm not even sure I got all the fillings I requested, as all I could see in the omelette was lump of brownish bits of stuff that MIGHT have been my sausage and egg (not sure the bacon got in there at all), and a small bit of cheese. Iit was clear that the omelette was cooked separately (it tasted like liquid egg) and then the fillings stuffed in rather than cooked WITH the omelet. The hash browns were watery. The coffee was tasteless. This was definitely not the Bob Evans I remembered, and we won't be coming back. read more

I can't honestly remember the last time I went to a Bob Evans. I did this morning, ordering a breakfast delivery. Created my own omelet with breakfast potatoes 2 sausage paddys and 2 biscuits. Total, without the tip, $25.01. Worth it? No. Omelet, sausage and biscuits were good. The potatoes were not. Not fully cooked, there were several hard pieces. Overpriced? I'd say, definitely yes. I went to this place with my uncle and cousin. There was not many people so the service was fast. I ordered the grilled chicken and fries. The music was nice and quiet, making it a fancy place. Perfect Bob Evans visit. Picture this....Bob Evans on a sunny, warm morning. 9:00 and birds are chirping in the background. The pavement is beginning to get hot the way it had for weeks previous because of a heat wave. Not surprising, though, it was early July. Cut to scene inside Bob. The restaurant is bustling though not hurriedly so. The air feels comfortable. Almost too comfortable. A couple approaches the hostess stand and are greeted promptly. The hostess looks at them and asks, "How many in your party?" "Two" answers both man and woman simultaneously. The hostess looks down at her podium and replies "it will be about a five minute wait." "That's fine, says the woman." She is dressed comfortably in jeans and a STL Cardinals t-shirt. He wears jeans and a red t-shirt, almost matching his cohort. "May I have a name please?" "Steven" replies the woman, though her name clearly can't be Steven so the hostess takes this to mean it was the name of the man she was with. The two take a seat at a nearby bench. Comfortable, but not somewhere you'd want to sit for a long time. In due time, approximately five minutes later, his name is called out and the couple follows the hostess to a table. The table has four wooden chairs, they and the table are clean. Normally the couple would have asked for a booth but they learned, long ago, that when there is a wait for a table beggars can't be choosers. Only a fucking dick would ask for a different table at that point. Not long after the two sit down a woman, presumably their waitress, comes to the table. A personable woman, she is seemingly in good spirits and asks to take their drink orders. "Oh, Diet Coke please." "I'll have the same." The drinks came almost immediately, too soon for either of them to have properly looked at the menu. They ask for a few minutes after which the waitress replied that she'd be back shortly to take their orders. After that they ordered, got their food and no complaints. Weird Experience My niece and I went to this Bob Evans location Monday night for a quick, inexpensive dinner. We were seated immediately and left with menus for at least ten minutes or more. No one brought water or offered to take a drink order or even told us they would be right with us. Finally a server came, she apologized for the wait and took our drink and food orders. She seemed like she was new but she was very nice and polite. When our food arrived I was surprised to see two pieces of meat on my plate. I told the server that I ordered the smaller "dinner bell" version, I'm a little old lady, there is no way I would have been able to eat all of it. She assured me that my check would be adjusted and I thought all was well. Then the oddest thing happened, the server approached our table with an empty plate and said she was told she had to take the extra piece of meat from me. Of course I handed it over, but how weird is that? It made me feel very uncomfortable. Obviously they thought I was trying to scam extra meat from them, but I couldn't even finish the food I ordered. I hope they didn't serve it to another person. The water tasted strange too, maybe their ice machine needs to be cleaned? It was just a very odd, uncomfortable experience. Bob Evans normally isn't on my radar for breakfast, but today I had an early appointment at St. Louis Honda down the road and wanted breakfast before going. My choices in the area were fast food, Denny's or Bob. Bob won. I didn't want a big hearty down on the farm breakfast, so I went with the Turkey Sausage Breakfast. It sounded healthy and was listed as only 350 calories on their menu. I think it is a nice touch to provide that information for those who are dieting or have health issues. TSB was a small, but filling breakfast. It consisted of one turkey sausage link, scrambled egg whites, seasonal fruit and dry wheat toast. Pairing this up with a cup of black coffee made for a very satisfying breakfast. Service was just okay. It was attentive and they offered me a coffee to go, which is always a nice touch. I order food alot from here and everytime I do I never get what I asked for. I ordered honey hot fish and shrimp and they never add it to food. I called and all they could say was because they don't want the food to be soggy they don't put it on delivery orders I can order it on the side, well if thats the case they should have put it in there on the side. She also said tell dasher to ask for some but the order is sealed and not supposed to be opened so how are they to know whats missing off my order. After a 9am basketball game, a hungry group of kiddos and parents were looking for a place to celebrate and refuel. We tried going to IHop which was a flop, so we tried Bob Evans. Immediately upon calling, they were so nice and welcoming. When we arrived to the restaurant, they worked quickly to clean and prepare a space large enough for 26 people- and sat us all together within 15 minutes. Our server was pleasant and even when they could very understandably been annoyed- they were patient and kind. I have never been a fan of Bob Evans, even after attempting more visits to verify weather or not I do like them, and each time the answer is no. very few places do good scrambled eggs, and I can honestly say that this isn't one of the good places, when I order scrambled eggs I would like to get just that, a pile of scrambled eggs, not a folded yellow square, that isn't scrambled eggs, that's a single layer plain omelet. I am really not a fan of the servers at Bob Evans either, maybe it's my choice of location, but I'm not seeing it that way. I'm updating my review. We've eaten here more lately, and have enjoyed some of their new menu choices. Everything we've tried has been very good. The roasted herb chicken is very tasty, but was a bit "oily" whether from the butter or chicken fat itself, not sure. We were seated very quick but took a good ten minutes for us to even be noticed by a waiter. We came here because I was excited to get the french silk pie again, but they didn't have it, bring it was probably seasonal (I went during Christmas time). However I tried the Coconut Creme Pie and it was delicious. My husband and I got the heartland chicken pot pie and it was wonderful! My husband almost finished all of his. Went in and got seated within 5 minutes, waitress took our order within two minutes, table across from us was seated 5 minutes after us. waited about 20 minutes and the people across from us got their food before us and we didn't see our food for another 10 minutes. we were within minutes of walking out. when finally our food showed up. Omg they are great. Food is fresh, quick, and delicious. The manager Michael D. Is knowledge with a great positive attitude who cares about his customers. He gave us an excellent waitress with a personality to fit our practice joking family. These two are a dynamic team. Then the next couple of weeks the regional director came in and he was an excellent family friendly person so a big shout out to Joe Schrank. We love this location. Probably my favorite establishment. As I visited this location i was immediately greeted by the most friendly staff. I got a coffee that was piping hot and very robust. I ordered the flap jacks, bacon and eggs. The flap jacks were so succulent they were something of a dream. The eggs were so fluffy I felt like I was on a cloud in heaven. The bacon was so crispy it was an explosion in my mouth. The waitress was so nice and personable , she never let my coffee mug reach less than halfway. When I got up to use the restroom, it was so sparkling clean. The mirror was spotless with a reflection of a 10 pound lighter version of myself. I had the lemon chess pie for dessert and it was phenomenal. It was a perfect little slice of heaven. 10/10 would recommend. Will be back as soon as humanly possible! read more

If I could give this Bob Evans..No stars. I would. Today was probably the worst experience ever at any restaurant in my life. and that's saying something. I do have sympathy for a person who is working her first day, but it should not take over 20 minutes to get water and coffee to the table. I ordered french toast that was not cooked,.. at all.....So I did send it back. It took another 30 minutes to get my new French toast. We even had to get a manager involved. The manager did give my meal for free, and you know that's how bad it was. Overall all of our orders were not correct. I don't think any other time I've been here was much better. What I like best about Bob Evan's is it's cleanliness and comfort feeling. The food is mediocre the coffee is hot and decent but the staff is always on! The friendliness and courtesy of the staff is what always makes me want to come back. The manager is always so pleasant and always talking to guests making everyone feel welcome. I put my order in at 5:21 pm. Check# 890035. At 6:18 the online tracker still had no time of pickup. So I called the store. First, Jennifer answered the phone, then said Sir, I can't hear you, then put me on hold for 7 minutes. So I started to drive down to the store. Finally Sabrina answered, and I told her that I had been waiting for my order and there is still no time of pickup, so I am coming down to pick it up. She said "oh, that's fine". I told her "No, that's not fine. That's the whole problem". She explained to me that she had no control over the third party delivery service. What I di not know, was that the delivery service had been waiting in their lobby, and while I was out to pick up my own food, the driver was texting my wife to apologize for the delay. So I arrived at the store. I ask for my order, to which it can not be located. After moments of searching, one of the front counter girls said " that lady that was over there just took it." So I asked where is Sabrina? It was the lady that was trying to locate my food! So I said to her "OMG! yOU are Sabrina? so I called and talked to you, and you gave them the food?" So without getting myself in trouble I turned and walked out of the store. So as I am driving back home, I called and told my wife that they gave the food to the driver. This is when I learned that the driver had been waiting. When I got home I realized that they forgot my soup, but now it is 6:55 Hey it's just soup right? I didn't need something that I paid for. To my surprise the tiny portion of steak was actually pretty tender. The only reason, I ever go here is that it is one of the few breakfast places in the neighborhood, but this location needs help. read more

I like Bob Evans as a chain in general, but this particular Bob Evans, while trying hard, is clearly not among their best. I really want to emphasize that they are trying. Our server was good but the food took a long time and it was what I expected from Bob Evans, but I also think it may be because they may not have enough cooks. The best one I have tried in the area is the one over in Fairview Heights - now that is an excellent one. But they tried. I had their Rise & Shine breakfast. I originally asked for Poached eggs and was advised that they "don't do poached eggs." Hmmm, ok do you do "Sunnyside up?" they did and I got what I expected on that. I also ordered the sausage patty and that was good. The hash browns were adequate, but I just got the fee4ling the cook had too much to do. If you want food and are hungry, this is an ok place, but this is not going to a memorable breakfast and it will just do the job for you.
