I hosted an event here - without letting the restaurant knowing ahead of time. Bad etiquette on my part, but I honestly did not know exactly how many people would show up, and how many would want to go in on pizza with me. I had picked it out - without even being there before- based solely on Yelp reviews and pictures on the website. The entire staff was super cool, and all of the food was excellent! Mozzarella sticks and calzones were great. If you get the Groupon it's well worth it. We got about $30 worth of food for $20 (including price of Groupon). Only complaint I have is that they should check the dates on their sodas. My boyfriends soda expired in may and mine in August. Only place locally to find "Chicago deep dish" I had never had a real one before so I don't know how to judge it, except it was very cheesy and filling. Sauce seemed a little bland for my taste. The calamari was very good and they even did the tentacles, which I love. Fried pickles were ok, they can be tough to get right and keep them crispy, flavor was good though. One word of advice for anyone who goes here, if you plan to order the deep dish pizza, bring friends... I wish I had the chance to take a picture of the behemoth. This pizza literally weighs ten pounds, most of the weight comes from the outrageous amount of cheese on it. This is definitely not somewhere I eat from often, but every once in a while you need to consume a weeks worth of saturated fat for lunch. If it happens to be one of those occasions, Boardwalk pizza is a fine choice to do so. First time here, been open about a month. Took my team here for lunch. Nice atmosphere, clean, spacious dining area. Even a game room for kids. Got 2 pies, one plain, one pepperoni. Really good pizza. There's a lot of competition in area, so they really hit the mark. Highly recommended. I also live in a neighboring town, and Boardwalk gives me another option. Tried this place 'just for the hell of it'... what caught my eye on their menu was the fried cheese crust pan pizza. I pondered this possibly epic creation, thinking how many things could go wrong with it. Cheap cheese would make it inedible, bad sauce would make it tasteless... But being a glutton with little self control in these situations, my eyes kept going back to the description, with the 'carmelized fried cheese crust', and I caved an ordered it. I'm glad I did! It was one of the best new things I've had in a long time! Not overly greasy, especially for something with fried cheese baked into it. The crust underneath was thick (expected as this was a pan pizza) but it was light and airy. The cheese was high quality, and the sauce was very tasty. I could barely eat two slices, each one weighed like a pound and a half. Just a warning, you have to like A LOT of cheese on your pizza to enjoy this. I've seen complaints on here about the service, but everyone I talked to couldn't have been nicer. The pizza guy brought this out from behind the counter himself, and told me to keep it as level as possible because it just came out of the oven. Kids behind the counter were neither overly friendly or rude, just went about their jobs. I will be adding this joint to my pizzeria rotation! One note, if you pick your order up, and the gym that they share the building with has a class parking can be tricky. This place is crazy good. Never got something there I didn't like! Just got a buffalo chicken salad and I can't believe how much chicken is on the thing...awesome! 2 other things I've noticed that really put this place above the rest is the service and cleanliness. There's a guy there who I think is a manager/owner who is so helpful and friendly. Plus the place is always spotless. That means a lot! Really cool decor on the walls too of old timey Jersey Shore. How come when I get it, there are tomatoes in it? Speaking of the chicken, the last 3 or so times I've ordered from there, it was gummy and almost raw in texture. Today was my 6th visit to Boardwalk Pizza. To say that I'm a fan is an understatement. I have ordered something different every time, and have been impressed every visit. We get the daily specials faxed to our office and once I read it at 10am I'm hungry for lunch and can't wait to head over. The service, the employees are just as fantastic as the food. Fab fresh salads also. I have tried a good portion of the menu. The pizza, in my opinion, is among the best in the area, if not THE best. There is only one other as good that I know in Wayne. Over the top quality. The crust is crispy and not doughy, baked just right. The toppings are FRESH and generously portioned. They even have a Boardwalk style Jersey Shore pizza about the size of standard 4 person table top. The sizes for the other pizzas range from personal to standard. Now to the burgers. Angus beef, generous size, and juicy. No fuss, no muss. Fresh bun and topped as you like. Now to the Italian offerings. Chicken, seafood and beef. Cooked to style parmigiana, francese and so on. The meatballs are as good as anything in Little Italy. So is the other Italian food. There are also the Chef's offerings. My favorite is the Chicken Mama Mia: beautiful chicken filets layered in fresh mozzarella and eggplant baked in a creamy vodka sauce. This place is a delight! There is also a gameroom for the kids and young adults. The owner is personable. He knows how to cook not just well, but very well. He also has a great counter staff! Very reasonable prices! I was Going to uncle Louie's pizza in franklin lakes until an awesome friend of mine who never tried this place but being the awesome food yelper she is and while using her ability to find 5 star restaurants she recommended this place for their Chicago deep dish pizza and let me tell you people you will sleep like a baby after having a slice of this glorified pizza. I ordered from this restaurant using door dash yesterday. After a long day of work, I came home not wanting to cook. I have tried countless pizza restaurants in my area (the Caldwells) that offer delivery and I have been disappointed every time. My family and I prefer to eat Ray's Pizza in Verona, but they don't deliver. Yesterday I ordered a large pepperoni pizza (almost $17) and the grilled chicken dish served over a bed of fresh spinach, fresh mozzarella, and diced tomatoes ($14.99). They were both very good. The pizza was a bit greasy but that is a problem easily solved by blotting the pizza with paper towels. My husband and I agreed, this was the best pizza that has been delivered to our house in the past six years we have lived here. I even liked the crust, which is unusual for me. We still prefer Ray's Pizza, which has more cheese and is less greasy, but Boardwalk Pizza will likely become our go to delivery pizza. read more

I basically agree with Fred's review. This place has so much more than just pizza. My bf & I were there today for a grilled chicken sandwich and a wrap. If you want fries its 99 cents extra. Plus even their fries had pizzaz. They make these Greek fries that are topped with olives & fetta. Really good and the place is super clean, open kitchen. They offer a small game room with an air hockey table and even a Ms. Pac Man machine. So you can play and feel like a kid again. Looking forward to going back. read more

Hero could have had more sausage, onions etc. They should go down the the boardwalk in Atlantic City and check out their's. Had the fried chicken. It was a mistake. Just stopped in got a sausage, peppers, and onion sandwich. One of the best I have had in awhile. Sausage "whole" links cut in half lengthwise, not little chunks or slices that most do now, excellent. Green, red and yellow peppers and also onions cooked perfectly, not mushy. Great job! read more

I was seriously shocked that a pizza place, especially a place calling itself boardwalk did not have chicken fingers!! They had chicken fries, but if I wanted them, I could go to Burger King. Sorry but $3 for a slice and $1.60 for a can of soda is a bit ridiculous. The pizza wasn't bad, but it was basically just a regular slice. And the soda is a total ripoff I'm in the city once in a while where you can get two slices and a soda can for $2.75. The slices are a bit smaller, but you are getting two of them. You could get 4 slices and two sodas in the city for what Boardwalk charges. Unless pricing here changes, advise you hold on to your wallet and look elsewhere for your slice. read more

So reading the reviews, I am not going to give this place a worse review, because I have not tried the whole menu, me loving subs, heroes, sandwiches... if my review were based just on the quality of the Turkey sub/hero I just had I would give it a one star if that. This is mainly because it had no flavor, and it was covered in oil ( so much I basically had very moisturized hands after just a couple of bites). Not only that but before I could even lift the sub out of its tin foil wrapper it fell apart which to me is a sign of a low quality bread and whoever is making the sandwiches should not be doing it any more. I was beyond disgusted in the quality and mess of this sub/hero. I am however going to give this place another try, based on the rest of the reviews, but based on my first impression of this sub, there are much better and money worth subs, heroes, and sandwiches in the area and I would not ever purchase a sub from this restaurant again. As for staff they are very friendly and welcoming, so that alone would be reason enough for me to consider going back, and the restaurant itself is very clean and has good upkeep, but based on the quality of the food I just had for take out as of now this is my honest review as far as the subs go. read more
