Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. As someone who relies on word-of-mouth reputation and customer service for my own personal business, this company fails across the board. 1) We had an issue with our solar panels so we called Solar Tech first thing in the morning. The phone operator told us we would get a call back from one of the techs later on that day. FIVE days went by before we even got a response back, and it was in the form of a text message asking us what problems we were having. If a customer is calling you for help, the last thing you should do is make them wait almost a week to get a response, and then have them explain to you what is wrong over text. Very poor professionalism. STRIKE 1. 2) The tech told us the next available appointment was 1 full week away, so not only did we wait FIVE full days for a text response, but we had to wait another full week for any resolution of service. STRIKE 2 3) The day of our appointment, thankfully, we had the first appointment of the day scheduled as we had a very busy day with other obligations so we were hoping to have everything completed by mid morning. After about 4 hours of the company no-show/no-call/no-text, we decided to call the company to find out the status of our appointment. We got a voicemail instead of someone live, so we left a message. A few hours later we finally got a call back saying someone will show up later that day. And they did finally show up at the very end of the workday. STRIKE 3 This was a very VERY disappointing experience. From poor follow up, poor customer service, and just a poor company all around. For someone like me, my sales/service business relies heavy on customer service. I've provided 1000s of recommendations and referrals of vendors for roofing, plumbing, solar, electrical work and more over the last 20 years, and i can say that I will never recommend this company as their lack of customer service would reflect very poorly on me and my business. The last thing I would ever want to do is upset a client or customer as they are the backbone of any business.

They offered a lifetime warranty but are out of business and won't answer our calls. What a nightmare. Matt Simms was recommended to us by a friend in Ramona. What a relief to hear a solar guy someone actually recommends. Well now we know why. Matt came to our house to do a checkup on our system and everything works fine now. He gave me a great education inside and outside of my home. Several times he had the opportunity to try to sell me something but he never took advantage. I was really floored by how honest Matt was. It's just so rare in this industry. Safe to say he's my new solar guy now. If you live in Ramona or near Ramona you're lucky to read this review. He said at the time he was still waiting authorization from SDG&E to have our system approved before 'going live'. It is now end April and we still have not had the Solar 'approved and connected'. I subsequently made inquiries on the Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB) website, to learn his license is under suspension. He did not disclose this at anytime, albeit the CSLB states "The licensee is not entitled to operate during the period of suspension until certain requirements are met." On checking with SDGE they have advised that the solar permit application submitted by the contractor had expired. All attempts to get Simms Solar Inc to submit the required permit have failed. I am pursuing his illegal operation with the CSLB. Matt Simms lacks integrity and ethics insofar as his professional behavior and operations. He is not to be trusted.
