If you read my reviews, you will notice that I am very stingy with my stars. But today, my gf and I had such an amazing experience at Bluch that I had to come home and write a 5-star review immediately. First of all, I totally disagree with the person below who thinks that the name "Blunch" is awful. I actually think it's quite clever and definitely catchy. I live a few blocks down the road and drive past Blunch everyday. One day I looked out the window while driving and saw the sign -- "Blunch... ? Does it mean Breakfast + Lunch?" I thought to myself. It was the name that caught my attention. After reading the rave reviews on yelp, we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Provencal and my gf got the Loaf. I swear, for the first couple of minutes into our sandwiches all I could hear was: "Oh my god... "... "Chomp chomp chomp"... "Oh my god... "... "Chomp Chomp chomp". I'm not much of a meatloaf fan, but she was in a generous mood and decided to let me have a bite (she actually said, "if you still don't like meatloaf after this, you're an idiot"). I took one bite and.... It was REALLY GOOD! Super flavorful and juicy... the bread was toasted perfect, and the stewed tomoatoes in it was a nice touch. I was sort of hoping that she would offer me another bite, but no such luck. The next time I peered over, she was all done with the sandwich. Don't get my wrong, my provencal sandwich was very very tastey too (goat cheese, artichokes, black olive puree, vege, basil pesto, all in a pressed baguette). But the meatloaf sandwich... Wow. We chatted a little with the owner (who, by the way, is super nice) and joked that she should do a "meat loaf throw down" with Bobby Flay (actually, I wasn't joking, I was quite serious). I'm so happy to have this little gem just around my place. It is definitely a nice alternative to Flour and Buttery. In fact, I actually prefer Blunch to any of the other more established places -- it's more charming, more friendly, and the food is a little cheaper and just as good -- if not better! read more

Good food, good effort at customer service, but error-prone. Today was my third time ordering from Blunch. Their food is always good, and I always feel that they go out of their way to provide warm customer service, but I'm becoming skeptical about eating there because I'm not confident they'll get my order right. Case in point. Today, I looked at their webpage menu and saw that they were running a special - a bowl of soup was only $1.50 with a sandwich. So I called and ordered the Boca sandwich with a bowl of the vegetarian corn soup. They also had a bowl of the same corn soup with bacon. When I arrived, they charged me around $4 for the soup, but when I pointed out the special on the website, they happily honored the special and thanked me for pointing out the discrepancy (apparently the special is only supposed to run on days with bad weather). It turned out to be fortunate that I only spent $1.50 for the soup, because they served me the soup with bacon instead of the vegetarian version. As a vegetarian, I'm used to having few options on menus, so I have no complaints when places decide to put meat in things like soup. However, when they specifically offer a vegetarian and non-vegetarian version of the same item, I expect that they will be able to dip their ladle into the right pot. Of the three times I've ordered from Blunch over the phone, they have gotten my order wrong or incomplete twice. So although their food is quite good, I'm not confident my order will be prepared correctly. Be cautious if you have any dietary restrictions and double check your order and the charges before leaving the store. read more

The sandwiches - mouth watering. The hostess, Nikki- fabulous. They have everything you need...wonderful ice coffee and a tranquil atmosphere. There Quiche makes my mouth water and so do the cookies with the marshmellow fluff! read more

Love, love, love Blunch!!! It is so good that it's ridiculous. Everything they have is amazing. Great quality sandwiches, soups, and all of the baked stuff. I've tried most everything in the South End, and Blunch is THE best, and most affordable for the quality. The staff is friendly and they always let you change and edit the orders or create your own. Highly recommend!!! read more

Liked is an understatement, I'd click on Loved if yelped had a button for it. I had the The Lower East Side sandwhich and it was delicious. It's Roast beef, Swiss Cheese, HorseRadish Cream Slaw, Fried Shallots, Marbled European Rye, and pickles. Followed it by a half-baked chocolate cookie that is absolutely heavenly. All of the items in the menu are awesomely priced considering the sandwhiches are all to die for. read more

We ordered the salmon bagel and the eggwich which were both fresh and delicious. The coffee was classic. Space is small but cute. I would go again! :) read more

Blunch - Yum - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I work in the area and frequent this place - maybe 3-4 times a month. They have a great menu - I've tried 6-7 different items and have always been happy with the quality. The service has always been great. The variety of the menu items is also pretty good. Their tuna sandwich has a nice touch of dill and sweet relish without being too heavy on the mayo. The Provencal is a nice break from the monotony of turkey and swiss on wheat... Their meatloaf was dry and really didn't have anything special about it - it's almost like a meatball sub but with flat meatballs instead. The place is a little too small, and you can forget about eating there if you are with a group of 4 or more. It also gets busy at lunch and there is little room to stand and wait for your order to be brought out. For the same reason, I tend to call ahead and pick up my food (and recommend you do the same). read more

Walked a little out of my way to come here, but was glad I did. I had the simple beef sandwich, with diced tomatoes, onions and a light smattering of capers. The staff here was very friendly, and brought out my sandwich when it was ready. Nice little seating and stools inside. They also thanked me when I left, making me feel like a regular, even though I wasn't. Good value here at about $8 total for my filling sandwich. read more

Just got a new job in the city and was told a great place to get lunch was Blunch. It's a tiny place with about 1/2 dozen seats and just adorable. They offer a decent selection of not your ordinary sandwiches which works great for me, to be honest I didn't really look at anything else menu wise because the sweet treats at the counter caught my eye. I got a yummy turkey plus panini sandwich and the biggest chocolate chip cookie I've ever seen. They were both delicious and very tasty. I don't even remember what I paid but I know it wasn't that much and would have been worth it regardless. The people are really friendly and nice as well. Basically if you're in the mood for a great sandwich at a great price and experience great service I highly recommend this place. Oh and great desserts too! Never take my word and give it a go yourself. read more

Solid sandwich. Had the Piglet, very tasty. My wife had the Everything Bagel BLTC and liked it, however, there are two things that keep me from rating it higher. The first is that my wife sensibly commented that for all the fancy aioli that they put on their sandwiches her BLTC did not have anything on it and it desperately needed it. Once she put some on, she said it was amazing. So if you order the BLTC, make sure you ask for some mayo on it. The second thing keeping it from being a 5 start for me was that the sandwiches were somewhat under filled. I am not saying that I need the ingredients to be "Carnegie Deli" stacked high but at the price point I would expect some more meat on the sandwiches then they used. I will also say this, their baked goods were extremely tasty. Had the crumb cake and chic chip cookies, both very tasty. read more

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Loved the grilled cheese, it rocked my world. We were visiting from Texas and once we took one bite of the grilled cheese, we knew we were in the right place. Blunch - Tiny place, huge flavor. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

This place is the best! I have only ever gotten breakfast sandwiches here because they are so good I can't give them up and switch to lunch! My favorites are the smoked salmon bagel and onion bagel with spicy sausage and peppers. This place is so authentic and the owner is always in here making the food or fixing up the place. It has a great local vibe. There is limited seating and is usually pretty busy so carry out is a good option. If only they were open on Sundays! read more

I love grabbing a sandwich here (and they have great baked goods too!). Vegetarian and gluten-free-friendly. Small space that gets crowded around lunchtime on weekdays (big BMC crowd), so you might have to take it to go, but it's worth it. read more

Picked up a smoked salmon bagel today. Total was $14 with tax and a seltzer. I was not at all happy, considering the price. They chopped up the tomato and onion into tiny pieces so it was impossible to eat without all falling off. Who puts chopped tomatoes on an open faced bagel sandwich? They were also stingy on the amount of smoked salmon and put way too much cream cheese on. I had to take half of the cream cheese off just to make it edible. I can't attest to the other items on the menu but definitley not a good spot for a salmon bagel. read more

My friend and I walked to Blunch from Back Bay station after finding it Yelp. Upon entry, it was clear that there would be no room for us to sit. The shop is TINY; it can fit maybe 8 customers at the most. Both my friend and I ordered "The Beef." Although we walked through the cold for around 15 minutes after receiving our sandwiches, they were warm and delicious as soon as we unwrapped them. "The Beef" was truly one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. I am a meat lover and the roast beef did not disappoint. Obviously I did not read the menu well because "The Beef" has capers in it and I hate capers! To my surprise, I barely even tasted them. Everything in the sandwich fit so perfectly together I paid no mind to the capers... now THAT'S an amazing feat. If you're visiting Boston, make sure you give Blunch a try... you won't regret it! read more

I love this place! It is very small but somehow there is always a seat for me and whoever I am lunching with. The staff is super friendly and patient with first timers. I would drive 500 miles for their chocolate chip cookies. They aren't kidding when they say they are the best around!! My friend and I took a short trip to Boston one day last December, to drop off donations to the Children's Hospital, and just take in Boston in the winter (granted, it was about 50 degrees with no snow; bummer). So, I planned ahead and looked online for little cafe's in the area we could grab some grub, and I came across Blunch. Their menu on their website had my mouth watering, but the reviews for the cookies had me sold! It was quite a walk from practically Dorchester (we took the green line) to the South End, not to be confused with the infamous South End, or Southie. We arrived, about an hour later, after receiving blisters on my feet, my friend falling in the middle of the intersection right by Northeastern Uni., and having a homeless man harass us just a block away from our destination. But it was so worh it! I got the Giving Tree, and it was delicious! My friend also got the same thing, sans the apple slices; but it honestly was so yummy! Ahh, the cookies! THE COOKIES! Oh me oh my, so good. Baked perfectly; just solid enough on the outside and so gooey and ooey and scrumptious on the inside. I don't live far from Boston, so when I'm in or around the city, you bet I stop in there and grab a few for the road. The only bad thing I would have to say about this place was the space. I never realized how small it really was, but luckily the day we went it was just us two in there, besides the guys working, who were wicked nice and delightful! If you happen to be at Boston Medical, or just in the area, go. Just go. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been going to Blunch since I started working in the area 8 months ago. They have fantastic sandwiches, great selection of drinks (coffee, espresso, juices, seltzers and sodas) and delicious sweets. I especially like their triple chocolate cookie. What makes this place a 5 star location for me is their people. Incredibly friendly, helpful, and nice. Blunch is a stellar example of what a little sandwich shop should be. read more

Really good sandwiches and AWESOME chocolate chip cookies, this is the real thing. This is the best place for a hot sandwich in Boston. It's a little off the beaten path but well worth it. The sandwiches are great and inventive, the baked goods are delicious, and the staff has an uncanny ability to remember your "usual" (though maybe that's not so hard when you go here a few times a week) - it even got to the point where the owner recognized my wife's voice in the phone. I rarely have a hard time finding a stool to sit on and enjoy my lunch but there's not a lot of space so prepared to take your sandwich to go. I'm a big fan of the Bird and the Meatloaf, but you really can't go wrong here. The only way to mess up is to not buy a chocolate chip cookie. They're incredible. read more

I happen to go to school right next to Bunch at BU GMS and it is my favorite treat. Walking in I love being greeted by the lady who I believe is the owner, she is always friendly and even remembers the regulars. The sandwiches are extremely creative and form perfect combinations on the palate of salty sweet and savory. My personal favorites are The Bird and Big Papi. Biting into the crusty bread that was put into a panaini press and enjoying the tasty spread and turkey is the best part of my day when I was their. Also go for breakfast food too my favorite is the eggwhich with sausage. Its a crusty role with these amazingly fluffy eggs and of course I love to say make it spicy and get this amazing spicy sauce that adds extra flavor. That with one of their coffee's which are great is the best morning ever. 5 stars all around I highly recommend Blunch read more

Out of town customer. Found this place because of great reviews online. Very small, made for quick in and out service. The food was GREAT! I got the roasted red pepper egg and goat chesse bagel. The frittata was fluffy, the peppers you tasted the smoky roasted flavor and bagels made from human hands no machine factory bagel. Has a decent selection of muffin/brownie/sweet treats. Next time would try french macaroon in which I passed up. read more

Blunch definitely has that hidden gem feel to it! It appears to be well known to the folks at Boston Medical but I'm not sure if this place is known to Boston at large. It's on the smaller side and doesn't lend itself to staying there to eat, but that's fine because you're in the South End! I'll order a breakfast sandwich and yogurt parfait and walk to one of the many parks / green spaces nearby in the South End to enjoy my food. Blunch really is a quality alternative to waiting in those long lines to get in to Mike's City Diner. Cannot recommend this place enough. read more

From the choco chip cookies and breakfast & lunch sandwich combos to the jazzy music selection, I have yet to be disappointed about anything at Blunch. I am constantly amazed at how consistently next level good this place is, even when I just order a simple everything bagel with cream cheese. There are almost TOO many good sandwich combos on the menu that I get overwhelmed trying to decide what to order - but yet again, always been mega impressed here. My only woe is that you guys aren't open on Sundays - whaaaaat is that all about?! Nikki Christo Leo must be killin' it as is. Keep doing you, Chef Nikki, cause you get it. read more

Blunch has become a weekly Treat Yo Self spot for me. The staff are INCREDIBLE. They genuinely care about their client base and always have a smile and something kind to say when I come in.
