Couldn't wait to go to this restaurant so I made reservations for Mother's Day at 4. I get there on time & 3 other families with the same time came in after me got seated before me. Of coarse I went up to the hostess to ask if she forgot about me. The hostess asked if I felt like climbing stairs so I told her no. My family was then taken upstairs & we waited a good 15 minutes before anyone came to ask if we needed drinks. Oh did I mention we were the only family sitting upstairs. Everyone that we watched come in this restaurant was seated downstairs & everyone else was seated downstairs. I now hate this place, wouldn't recommend it to a dog. I came here for New Year's Eve and the place was pretty packed but the service was excellent even on a busy night. They had a few specials along with their regular menu. The crab soup was delicious and the calamari was perfectly cooked and flavored. My husband ended up getting the Yellow Fin Tuna and he liked it a lot. It came with a fried rice on the side (which he said it was salty alone but eaten together with the tuna was a nice balance). I had the chesapeake rockfish which was perfectly cooked and there was balance of flavor with the sides it came with. I will be coming back again to try out more items on their menu! Their services are quick and food are good however the prices are high defends on what you buying if you just buying a burger then that will be cost around ten dollars however seafoods are high as twenty dollars read more

I had the crab cakes with cream of crab soup. They were both excellent. The friends I was with each had the cream of crab. One also had the crab cakes, another had scallops. We each enjoyed our meal. Service was outstanding, but overall the restaurant's food wasn't anything you couldn't get many other places. read more

It's retro menu month at the Bluestone...retro items with the date they were introduced at the retro price. This is good until September 27th. I thought it was a fun concept to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. Bluestone delivers great food consistently. It is a place I end up coming for lunch, dinner and drinks. It is a neighborhood restaurant. The menu is pretty simple but fresh. I really love their Bluestone Salad (greens, pecans, tomatoes and brown sugar bacon) with chicken. The sandwiches and burgers are always great, too. I love that you can get broccolini as a side instead of fries and the broccolini is always steamed perfectly! This place gets packed for Happy Hour. They have great appetizers and a full service bar. They even have drink specials! Come on half priced wine night (Tuesday nights) and you will see an even bigger crowd. I love having their appetizers and a drink. The Thai calamari and fried green tomatoes topped with lump crab are my favorite appetizers here. The service is excellent. As soon as you walk in, they greet you at the door. Many of the servers have been here awhile and they are efficient, knowledgeable and personable. I love that the Bluestone gets better and better each year. They added a covered patio with sand colored stone columns off the dining room. It has a lovely water feature to help drown out some of the road noise. On a nice weather day, it is great to get a seat and enjoy a meal. read more

Amazing and delicious not to mention it isn't even over priced. We enjoyed everything we ordered.

This is the first time we have been back since our favorite waitress (Maddie) left. On this visit we had Meg and she was just as friendly and knowledgeable. We have never come across anyone who was unfriendly here. We have an event coming up in September and would love to have Meg there. It was also nice to see the mangers walking around and speaking to all the guest. We definitely will be telling more people to come and visit your restaurant. read more

4.5 stars! We were given a gift card to Bluestone and decided to put it to use. We started with the seafood nachos and Bluestone salad. Nachos were INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. Mix of shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, tomatoes and creamy cheese. The salad was very sweet, and was also good but I felt like it was missing some cheese or some fruit. For entrees, I ordered the salmon and my boyfriend ordered the tuna mignon. I am usually not a fan of cooked fish (I prefer sushi), but the salmon was still juicy and had that buttery texture. However, the more I ate it and it cooled down, the less desirable the salmon was. The tuna I thought was pretty good, but nothing amazing. Their menu alternates with the seasons, so you know you are getting fresh food! Onto dessert, they have a pastry chef that uses seasonal ingredients and has very neat combinations. We were so stuffed that we ordered 1 dessert to share - the Coconut caramel bread pudding. it was heavenly! I definitely want to go back to at least try the rest of the desserts! Service was 5-star. Been here twice now and impressed both times. Excellent seafood and steak. Great drink specials (Tuesday was half priced wine) and a friendly staff. The restaurant is very big and does a lot of business. It has a large bar area if you must wait, and is decorated nicely. I have never sat in the outdoor area, but it looks really nice. Some of my favorites are the fried green tomatoes (with huge lump crab meat on top) and calimari apps, and the filet or ribeye. read more

This is the type of place that converts crustacean haters like myself. Ahi Tuna appetizer was mind blowing. Wife had crab cakes (almost no filler!) and I had the rockfish special. My first experience with calamari was in my teens in Destin, Florida. It was a seafood place on the beach, though the calamari had the consistency of old rubber bands. Bluestone's calamari was the antithesis of that meal. I just might have seen the seafood light. Prices were modest considering the quality of seafood, and the ambiance is quietly upscale. I'm not saying they should charge more, but I would've gladly paid more and still walked out feeling like I got the better end of the bargain. It's amazing how quickly you can network in a brand new town. The doorman at our temporary digs was also a chef here. Typically I take self prosthelytizing with a large grain of salt, but something about this guy was genuine, and my local-in-the-know (Karan G.) vouched for him. Damn glad I listened. Bluestone is proof-positive that the best seafood place usually isn't the big chain with a waterfront view. read more

Now there's no doubt that blue stone is a beautiful restaurant that uses quality ingredients. I really do think that the new addition they built on to the restaurant is a great place to have a party too. However I just can't get over the price to food ratio dilemma. For $30 I got a relatively small piece of rockfish over some quinoa. Call me a pig but I don't like to leave dinner still hungry. Especially when it's $30 an entree. And I was. My mom got one crab cake and it was just pathetic. For the price they should have given her something twice the size. Even the sides were a joke. Four pieces of asparagus and a handful of potatoes?!! They feed you better at Arby's. Other people in our party got the salmon entrees and Tuna. Again I'm not saying the quality necessarily isn't there but these portions were just not adequate. Everyone was still not satisfied after we finished. We aren't complainers or big people either. Ok so the positives... Our caprese flatbreads were very good and not outrageously priced. Perfectly crispy crust with a nice arrangement of tomatoes and cheese. Definitely recommended. The grapefruit cocktail was also quite refreshing and not overly sweet. But the best item of the night was by far "The snowball" dessert which was delicious. It's the sole reason I'm giving bluestone three stars instead of two. They take this ball of awesome blueberry ice cream and place it on top of this delicious butter crust. Definitely awesomeness in my mouth. Still thinking about it. But alas I can't see myself driving 45 minutes to grab a meal here. Maybe if I lived close by and wanted to go out for a drink after work or for lunch one afternoon. Bluestone is down the street from my company office. This is one of those places that are just good business lunch restaurants. Clean, presentable and mid ranged. I heard the service is inconsistent. Sometimes it would take forever for lunch and others, they waiters are pretty on top of things. My cup of Maryland soup was tasty and I would go back there just for the soup. I ordered a salad for lunch and there was nothing too special about that. From reading other reviews, it looks like I could have picked a better entree. read more

Work took me to Timonium and in my opinion this place is the best fine dine is and around this area. Their sea-food selection is very good. I have the Crab stuffed fish and it came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. It is just right. No extra unnecessary grease. The flavor was perfect and it was cooked to perfection. I also like how they serve the hot teas - they bring you an entire box of teas to choose from. It misses one star because they do not have any vegetarian options (considering it is the one of the very few fine dine restaurants in this area) except 2 salads and a caprese flatbread. read more

My wife and I ordered a large Bluestone salad and two Crisfield Stews through curbside service. We were both super impressed at how you packaged the food to go. The bacon and pecans were warm and wrapped separately to keep from wilting the salad. The dressings were on the side. The stews were packed in their on tupperware like containers that made reheating a snap. Best of all the food was just as delicious as if it had been brought from the kitchen to our table. I've been to Bluestone many times over the years for lunch, dinner and drinks. Most recently, my fiance and I arranged a lunch for his parents to meet my parents. We had lunch on a Saturday around 12:30 and the wait staff, hostess and management were all very accomodating. They seated us in a quiet area so we could talk without distraction. The food was exceptional and really gave my future in-laws from Chicago (who have never been to Baltimore before) a great taste of the local fare. The Maryland crab soup was perfectly spicy and very crabby. It's not a cheap restaurant but it's great to see that in the challenged economy, they haven't cut quality at all. read more

Bluestone has provided consistently delicious meals and an above-average wine selection since its opening. Our recent dining experience confirmed they are still one of the very best in the area. Firecracker Salmon (excellent!!!), Shrimp Tacos,Cream of Crab Soup and Salmon Salad were all stand outs. The service is generally good but during our recent visit we were fortunate to have the ever-patient,Dennis, for our server. We asked for tastings of draft beer selections,changed our entree orders and posed an inordinate number of questions. Dennis was the consummate professional, concerned only with our needs and satisfaction. Wow! What a great guy. The only negative is that Bluestone no longer serves exceptional desserts as they did when Stephanie was the pastry chef. Their current offerings are ho hum which is truly unfortunate. I wanted to take my 92 year old friend out for a birthday dinner and wanted it to be very nice. Well, Blue Stone went above and beyond to make sure all was well. Nikki was the best wait staff we could have had. She was so kind, attentive, courteous, and did everything to make us VERY happy. The service and food was EXCELLENT and surprisingly wasn't as much as I thought it would be. The was a wonderful outing and the birthday person was so happy, thanks to Blue Stone. But not only did I not notice a premium I was surprised that our meal was as fair in billing as it was. First experience at blue stone and it was definitely a rememberable one. I decide to give it a try after reading the reviews and it did not disappoint. We started off with the fried calamari, which was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and didn't taste like rubber. We chose the filet mignon and crab cakes and both dishes were excellent. The crab cakes had hardly any additional filling and the filet was like slicing butter. I also had the pleasure of getting a well prepared key lime martini, that if you closed your eyes, you almost thought you were eating a slice of the actual pie. Amazingly enough had never been here although its only a 5min drive away. Came for a belated Mother's Day dinner on a Monday evening. Decent crowd, looked mostly middle aged types & post-work happy hours. Food: We started with the fried green tomatoes. Very yummy, came in a buttery sauce with big lumps of crab on top. For entree, I went with the Crisfield stew which I loved, highly recommend. Slightly spicy broth with delicious seafood and a generous hunk of bread to go along with it. It was surprisingly filling- I took half of it home for the next day's lunch. I had ordered a house salad to start with, thinking the stew would be lighter, but probably didn't even need it. The others in my group got the scallops and the crabcake which they both enjoyed. Service: our waiter was decent, polite, but wasn't always as attentive as he could have been (leaving appetizer plate & empty cocktail glasses on the table) but overall not a big deal. The service manager was making the rounds to the tables and he was pleasant to chat with. Atmosphere: nice design, relatively modern, surprisingly big inside. We sat towards the back near the terrace/patio area- would love to try that when its warmer out! Stopped in Friday for happy with three of my closest friends Sadly they didn't have any happy hour food specials so we had an order of guacamole which disappeared quickly. I order the steak salad med rare which was delicious however the steak was over cooked the wait staff was immediately helpful. I got a perfectly cooked steak a few minutes later. This is my first time visiting BlueStone and it's for my birthday lunch. My soft crab sandwich was delicious! The Brussels were amazing. The reason for the 3 stars has to do with all of the filler in my mom's crab cake and the noise in the restaurant. You shouldn't have to yell to have a conversation. read more
