Safe to say they serve the best coffee in Montclair, I usually get a iced vanilla latte w oat milk

Thanks for the teas and kind and friendly service always! Look forward to coming back soon for a meal :)

Woah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bluestone is my favorite! I used to go there every weekend until I moved! Everyone at Bluestone is so friendly! The croissants are delicious!!!!!! I used to have them stuffed with scrambled eggs! (Yes, they do that if you ask! Best ever!!!!!!!!!! I really recommend it! read more

My wife and I have lived in the Bloomfield/Montclair area for over 7 years. Bluestone is by far our favorite breakfast spot. The staff is always super friendly and they even remember us by name and our go-to orders! We have nothing but amazing things to say about Bluestone Coffee. read more

Good at breakfast, pretty good for lunch, and superb for their coffees. Their Chai tea latte, although you can find this staple literally anywhere, for some reason tastes.. a bit more homemade, not like the usual pre-made packet deal...although it very well could be, who knows, it just tastes better than usual. Because they roast the beans on site, the coffee is always fresh and superbly delicious. Seriously. Forget S-bucks. I love a good espresso, but definitely try their macchiato if you are a little timid. Weekend brunch menu is definitely a major draw. Standard breakfast fare, but with a few twists.... Salmon benedict is yummy, as is zucchini frittata, croissants are fresh and delicate and so freaking good... That's the thing! They have all the standard items, but they just taste *better* than standard. But the price is average, or even shy of average. Portion sizes are NORMAL .... not completely outrageous, so you can leave feeling full, rather than disgustingly stuffed. The rosemary potatoes are standard, and honestly this is a bit of a downside for me -- wouldn't you like to have the option of just plain-old potatoes cooked in oil with salt and pepper? Not being a hater, but ya know, sometimes I just am not feeling herbs and starch. Maybe I am just crazy. Service is prompt, friendly, and the master(s) of multi-tasking. One other thing that I wish they could improve on... the ventilation system. Good Lord, does it get stuffy and muggy in there... Turn on the AC, or open a window, I was sweating over my benny today! read more

Talk about your cozy diner-like local joints! Bluestone is THE place to grab a seat with a warm coffee and a tasty plate of food. I was jonesing for a change of scenery in my local area so headed over here for some grub. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and bustling at the same time. You'll find families, friends, and solo acts like myself all congregating here. Be warned, they do close a bit early at 2:30pm. Their menu is vast and includes tons of breakfast favorites with a twist. I was lucky enough to grab the special tumeric tofu special. It was awesome and the home fries, gluten-free toast and jam were yummy too. I didn't enjoy the coffee so much, but then again, I'm not a big coffee drinker. The service was great too! My food came out very fast and looked great. The only bad thing I can say is that Bluestone does not stay open very late, so be sure to check before heading over. Otherwise, I highly recommend grabbing brunch here with a friend or with your family. You will not be disappointed! read more

Really good, strong coffee. Food was fresh and satisfying. I had the Bluestone omelet and my dining partner had the breakfast burrito. The side of rosemary potatoes were crispy and savory. Definitely recommend for an easy Sunday brunch. Sitting tip: do not sit anywhere in the front of the main dining area if you are opposed to large groups of people waiting and gusts of wind blowing on you and your omelet. I wish I had a seat in the back or the adjacent dining room. read more

Love it here! I come for brunch 2x/week - the staff is friendly - the coffee is perfect - casual, enjoyable, yum.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday and got the eggs Benedict and coffee. The eggs were nothing special and the coffee was good, but I'm not sure if there are free refills because the waitress never came back to our table after giving us our food. The service here wasn't very good considering we didn't even get water for the table or a check up asking if everything was ok. Also, I could feel the death stare of one of the hostesses who clearly wanted us to immediately leave. I understand that it was pretty busy since it was Saturday, but I'd like to take my time eating, so that was uncomfortable. Also came here another time for a belgian waffle and it was quite basic. Not worth the money for it. I'd rather try other places in Montclair for brunch in the future. read more

My new go-to place for breakfast and lunch. EVERYTHING is good. The vegetable salad with eggplant is my favorite. Eggs and bacon are good too. Plenty of flavored coffees to choose from A little pricey but the portions are big and the food comes and quick and hot. read more

I called from Maplewood and specifically asked if I could bring my small dog in a stroller inside (after being told by the man on the phone that there was no outside seating). Once inside I was told that having a dog inside was "against the law." so we had to leave. Other restaurants in Montclair do allow dogs, so I don't know what "law" the owner was talking about. Bottom line, they don't allow dogs, but there was an employee who gave us wrong info. Very frustrating! read more

Good local eatery that does big, big breakfast biz. They now have two indoor dining areas and a few outside tables. Went with four last week: blueberry pancakes, waffle with whipped cream and berries, BLT with big Texas toast, good omelette special. Decent portions and the fundamentals are done right. read more

Small but cozy breakfast/lunch spot. My gf got a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream and she really enjoyed it. I got a egg white veggie omelette but when asked to substitute the onions with broccoli, they said they didn't have broccoli which is why I'm giving only giving them 4 stars. The potatoes with rosemary were delicious and the toast was good as well. I got a chai latte and that was on par with the best I've ever had. Will return again read more

Pretty good. My prego wife and I stopped in today for an early morning Saturday breakfast. Initially I was underwhelmed by the terse waitress who we spoke to first. We asked to sit at one of the empty booths, as we saw another couple leave the same table. She said "No, those are only for 3 or more." When I countered with, "No, we just saw a couple leave." She argued back that there was a child in the other seat. There was, but there were TWO booths initially occupied, one with a couple and another with a couple and a child. BOTH were now empty. Anyway, to not make a scene, we squeezed into a two-top. We enjoyed the omelettes, although a little over-done. Coffee was excellent. Service, too, with another waitress was spot on and this one was cheery and happy. We will come back, likely, hopefully this time without an argumentative waitress. By the way, those booths sat empty for the time we were there, until another couple arrived and they were seated at the booth. The waitress who had not honored our request served them. Oh well. read more

What a great find! Cozy, friendly service, great food, not much more to ask for! I met a friend on my way back on the train from the city one morning. We had a great chat as well as a crazy good breakfast! The French toast with fruit is huge! Coffee is always fresh! Expect to wait for a table but grab a cup while you wait and enjoy the atmosphere! read more

Went on a Wednesday morning and it was busy but no wait. Parked in back - meters. Good coffee, nice server, crowded together tables. Ordered eggs with Parmesan but it was just the grated kind from a container. Good multigrain toast though. Okay, but nothing to rush back to here. read more

People love love the coffee here...it's good but not all that...I prefer the coffee next door at Cafe Claire's...but then again, depends on what crowd you are...I like to go by taste, but so nice to sit at bluestone to chat it up with friends while enjoying a cup ...coffee is bottomless... This is the place to be and eat if you're a Montclairite... Their breakfast is pretty decent, a tad bit pricey...Roasted potatoes are very good Place is decent but not all that...toasted on Bloomfield Ave I feel is slightly better n u get more for your buck there...but bluestone is convenient, you can sit n people watch as long as you like (as long as there's not a big line, then that's just rude) and they're consistent with their food read more

Great coffee and food. Every time we're back up in jersey we stop for breakfast to meet up with friends.

First off we where seated really fast our waitress was really nice and friendly WOW our food came out super quick and was delicious the red eye coffee good and strong, will definitely have to come back again. read more

Great breakfast/brunch place with plenty of seating and very reasonable prices. I got the spanish omelette with tomato, spinach, sausage, onion, and salsa and it came with rosemary potatoes and multigrain toast. Loved the omelet-normally I can't finish the whole thing because it's too eggy but it was packed with meat and veggies which I loved. The potatoes were seasoned and cooked very nicely-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The multigrain toast which I normally fine to be standard at breakfast places was also much better here compared to other places. Our waiter was also really nice and patient-it took me five years to figure out what I wanted to order but he never once looked irritated by my indecisiveness read more

Bluestone is a solid breakfast cafe. They roast their coffee on premises and it is very good, although strong in flavor. Service has been good in the many times I have been and they have a fair assortment of omelets, egg dishes, and specials, which are listed on the chalkboard in the restaurant. There are 2 small tables for outdoor seating on Watchung Ave. The interior is a bit tight, but they do have a few booths. Many people I know come just to get coffee to go. read more

8 out of 10 Came here on a Saturday at 11 for brunch. The place was bustling as it always is. They recently expanded so it is quite a bit bigger than it used to be, so the wait is not long. Our waitress was very kind and quick when we asked for things, although she was very busy. I ordered an Americano, which was good-nothing to write home about. The veggie omelet I ordered had: Eggs (Shocking), Spinach, Tomatoes, I asked to sub the onions with Chives. It came with toast and I asked for fruit as a side instead of home fries. YUMM! The omelet was delicious :) a bit pricey at $12 but worth it, and the average price you pay for the area :) Would definitely come here again. read more

Cool little coffee shop. I was brought here by friends for brunch. Good food. Good service. Great omelette and potatoes. It gets a bit crowded at times. read more

A cute spot in Watchung Plaza, it was a little busy when we arrived mid morning. Fortunately we were able to get a seat quickly. The French toast and buttermilk pancakes were both solid options. The scrambled eggs were pretty uninspired. Coffee was good. FYI- they don't take American Express. Say what? You can also order coffee and small snacks to go, which I imagine may be convenient for the commuters jumping on the train in the morning. Overall it seems like a quality establishment. I will return to try other menu options. read more

I've had breakfast here many times because I enjoy the cozy atmosphere and have tried enough dishes by now to know which are their best items. A lot of the food is mediocre and the service is okay. It's great for families and children. I love the breakfast burrito and breakfast quesadilla, and their strawberry smoothies and hot chocolate are great too. Not a fan of their eggs benedict (which I looove at most other places), the belgian waffle is very basic, and their coffee is nothing special. I also wish they'd serve a more generous portion of potatoes with their egg dishes because they are cooked with rosemary and are delicious. This place gets super busy on weekends so be prepared to wait. read more

Good solid brunch in a lovely setting with a friendly staff. Truly enjoyed this place. Quite busy at brunch time on the weekend but it was moving fast read more

Simple. Food is great, staff is friendly. Wait time is never exaggerated. Been coming here for years almost every weekend. Oh, and the coffee is my absolute favorite. 5 stars easily. read more

This is really more like a 2.5 star rating. I actually had my first cup of coffee here. I had a latte. Does that count? Anyway, it is a little tight to wait for a table here since it was a little cold and not much space just inside the door. There were a couple tables of 4 open and they wouldnt seat 2 people at them. There wasnt a huge wait, so I am not sure what the issue was there. Overall, thats not really a big deal to me. The ambiance is interesting. A little music would have been nice. I saw that there were plenty of speakers. Maybe they forgot to turn it on that day. I went for brunch after getting a recomendation from a friend. We had the breakfast burrito and the breakfast queso's. Nothing really to write home about. I would have expected rice and some spices etc for the burrito. No dice. It was generally bland. The food tasted fine, but it was very basic. Same goes for the queso. It tasted fine but was a mess due to its construction. We were left hanging for a while and wanted to get a cookie and milk and we were brought the bill instead. We were able to get the cookie and milk anyway. The glass was tiny, but the cookie was served warm which was very enjoyable. It is not apparent, but you should pay at the counter, not at the table. Also there is only street parking at this place. Prices were decent but I probably wouldnt recomend this place to a friend or probably go here again. read more

The food here is excellent, fresh and diverse. The coffee and baked goods are greats accompaniments to the menu and I would highly recommend taking some home with you if your already eating an entree. The one star off is because of the limit amount of space this cafe has. It is very popular with the locals and as such the space should be much larger than it is. Prepare to wait on a line and be squeeze into a small area to eat, the tables size are most like what you would find in an elementary school classroom, the only way you are saved is if you come in a group of 3 you are given the option of a large booth, otherwise id advise not to come here with large bags or more than 4 people. The service is good depending on your waiter/ress and food comes out fast. I definitely will be returning read more

Excellant 1st time experience! Friendly & fast service from Taz (even on a Saturday @ 9am). I tried the french toast w/ strawberries and tried my husband's toast w/ jam and the potatoes. I'll be back especially for the coffee- I'm picky but totally awesome. I was also happy to see they sell Big Train Chai which I used to love having when I worked at a cafe years ago. Bluestone Coffee Co - Always spot on:) - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Montclair, New Jersey

When I brunch I tend to brunch in the city, but I woke up in New Jersey, so New Jersey is where I brunched. (That sounds so pretentious. I'm sorry.) At any rate, it was a decent brunch. Points for the cute cafe atmosphere, cheaper-than-Manhattan prices, speed of coffee refills, and my friend's chai. The food was pretty average, though. I had the salmon benedict and it was tasty but not special. And that pretty much described the rest of my group's food, too. A solid breakfast/brunch place with standard menu options makes it easy for everyone to find something they like, so despite the slight crowdedness, I'd recommend it for groups. I'd come back for the chai, and to try the sandwiches, so four stars. read more

Came for Sunday brunch, place was crowded but wait was only 10 minutes. Seating would seem crowded but really isn't. Its a nice place for brunch, but that ends at 2:30. Server wasn't too friendly but the food made up for it! Their waffle was so soft and delightful as for their quesadilla. Overall satisfying experience but nothing off the wall read more
