Definitely not my favorite branch of Bluemercury. Last time I was helped by a woman with long brown hair and an accent who just basically took over and didn't listen to a word I said. I actually do like the products she sold me, but I really did not enjoy this experience. Yesterday I actually did come back because I wanted some Victoria Beckham mascara. I first walked by the store to see if I'd have to deal with that same lady again. Fortunately, she was busy with someone else, so I came in and got the mascara from someone else. The other person working there did not seem too happy. I wonder if the brown haired lady monopolizes all the customers? That hard -sell approach of hers actually deterred me from coming back, so I wouldn't say it was working. I'll just go to other Bluemercuries in the future. read more

Stopped in today for some skincare product advice and support. Had the absolute best experience working with Jack. He was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. I'm looking forward to booking appointments with him for microdermabrasions in the future! read more

I came in for eyebrow waxing and a facial. I was seen by Paula. She was awesome. She was very professional, patient and knowledgeable about skin care, not to mention her skin was flawless so i knew i was in good hands. My facial lasted a little under an hour , I came in from a stressful day and left feeling like a million bucks. My skin was so smooth and I had this amazing glow, not to mention she did my eyebrows and they finally are even now. My eyebrows look so good along with my facial. I got a compliment that I looked 10 years younger than my age . Well i will be back , make me a regular, but only for Paula. I have had my experience with aestheticians and Paula is a Jewel. I generally love Bluemercury but I've never been to this one before. I love it because the staff is always so helpful which I need when navigating through all of their products. I went into this store and it seemed like there was only one sales associate helping people and there were three other people ahead of me. She didn't stop to let me know it would be a few minutes - I was just totally ignored. I'd expect this at many of the other makeup chains but not here. My advice is to avoid this store and make the trip downtown to the one on Newbury street. read more

I would give this place zero stars if possible. Extremely rude and obnoxious staff. My husband purchased a $35 body wash and proceeded to get the car while I was still looking at products. Another sales assistant yelled at him that he couldn't leave, after which my husband showed her the receipt. Even after this she had the audacity to make a face and not apologize. I've spent hundreds of dollars there and safe to say will not be going back to a lousy store where they don't respect their customers. read more

Went in to look at makeup. Being male, it is often stressful shopping for makeup for fear of being judged. I walked into the store with my friend and was instantly greeted with a scoff and an "uh...do you need help looking for a gift?" I told her no, that I just love makeup and wanted to look around. I was followed around with a suspicious glance and when i touched a blush to swatch on my wrist (a very common practice) I was yelled at that it wasn't allowed. I apologized and was then given the evil eye until I left near tears. I will NOT be returning again. read more

The lighting in this store is horrid, so I was sold a color that was so wrong, it looked like actors makeup. To return it and not able to find the right match was not so easy. I was given a credit and not allowed to get money back. This was not my error, it was the store's. two months later the right color still not in. I had to demand a refund. Very expensive. One of the worst facials I've had. My esthetician did not ask me if she could add on things that were going to increase the price and just casually mentioned them as if they were included in the facial I had booked. The extractions were very rough because there was no steam so now my face looks worse than when I came in. So disappointed not to have a post facial glow! read more

I love this Bluemercury because of the Esthetician there Julianna! She's wonderful! Gave me the best microdermabrasion ever! I felt like I literally had a new face! She takes her time and she's a perfectionist which is what I want with skincare! Especially dealing with our face! Im a bikini pro athlete and all the sweating I do in the gym she brings my skin back to life! Love her! Highly recommended! read more

Though I only came in to purchase lashes for that very evening before my hair appointment, the staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Very happy to see they stock Oribe and a generous supply of candles. I love it here and will most likely pop in before/after each hair appointment. read more

I visited Bluemercury for the first time back in February 2019 to celebrate my best friend's birthday. She had experienced a very rough year and I had suggested we do something fun to make her day special- we decided getting our makeup professionally done would be a great start to a fun evening in the city. After calling a few places in the area, Bluemercury seemed to be the best fit, offering free makeup demos with the purchase of the makeup that is used during the demo. About an hour after we called the store, we arrived to get our makeup done- the store seemed busy and it was hard to flag down an associate for assistance. After waiting in line at the cash register, we finally were able to speak with someone about the makeup demo and, to our great surprise, were told that they had no idea what we were talking about. We explained that we had called and spoke with someone about getting our makeup done and were told we could come in for a demo. The associate gave us a blank stare and then motioned to some ladies standing in the front of the store: "I mean, those ladies are makeup reps and can show you how to apply some of their products, if that's what you're looking for. Just walk over to them and tell them what you want." Confused, we walked over to the two ladies standing in the front of the store and asked if we could try some makeup. My friend went with the rep from Laura Mercier and I went with the rep from Trish McEvoy (these were the only two available). The rep I had from Trish McEvoy was excellent and showed me how to apply all the products she used on me without pushing the sale. My friend's experience on the other hand, wasn't so great. We were both done after about 30 mins and purchased around $85 each in products. After we got in the car, I asked my friend how her experience had been and she began to tell me about the awful service she had received from her Laura Mercier rep. Apparently, the rep initially denied services as a "makeup artist" and refused to do my friend's makeup without a valid purchase of a product. My friend explained that she had been told this and would be willing to purchase some products after she is shown how to use them on her face. The rep eventually agreed to do this but only after she made my friend tell her exactly the look she was going for. As my friend had no idea what would look best with her coloring, there was a span of 20 mins before the stylist began putting applying makeup. Per my friend, "she asked me what I wanted and I told her I wasn't sure what would look best on me. She wouldn't put anything on me until I finally just told her to give me a smoky eye." My friend also stated that the rep did not converse with her for the rest of the demo and consequently, she did not learn how to apply any of the products she had purchased. Due to the lack of communication with the store and their makeup reps, and the awful experience my friend endured, I give Bluemercury only two stars. What was supposed to be a fun and confidence-boosting experience turned out to be a very stressful and awkward situation for someone who really didn't deserve to be treated in that manner. For a store that prides itself on beauty and confidence, they really need to work on making their customers feel the same. read more

Stay away from the spa! This is the second time this happened to me here. I had an appoinmwnt for a facial at 4 pm. I arrived at 3;50. The staff in the store was curtesous enough. I was told it would be just a few minutes. After 15 minutes one of the staff appeared to tell me she was sorry but tgey took someone besides me. And if i wanted to come back after 6 .... I explained i had an appoinment that it was confirmed arrived early how could that happen. The staff member said our manager is sorry. The manager couldnt even tell me. Then I was again offered a an appoinment after 6. While i realize it was there attempt to fix, most have plans on a Saturday night already placed and this is the second time. Please go get some managment training. Other Blue Mercury's do not take walk in over scheduled clients. Bad customer service read more

I did not have any spa services, but had such great service and was impressed by the range of beauty and skincare products the store carries. I had a facial treatment (waxing) somewhere else two weeks before my wedding and came in freaking out. The two girls there on a Sunday calmed me down, and talked me through a few products that would help my skin clear up fast. They were also conscious of the various price points (given that this was a temporary skincare condition) and gave me just the right products -- not too many. They were also really helpful in finding a few makeup items. read more

I love this store but Juliana the Esthetician is excellent! She is very knowledge and always recommends the right products, I would highly recommend her as your go to person. The spa room is small but very cosy but you won't be disappointed. read more

Paula the esthetician is amazing. I got the power facial with microdermabrasion, it left my skin smooth, minimized my pores and I had an amazing glow. The girls who work there are all extremely knowledgeable about all the products, they always give amazing samples! It is a very personalized shopping experience going in. read more

It's just not a real spa experience, but it's the same price as a real spa. I arrived early - thought there would at least be a place to sit. At another spa i go to (it's nothing fancy) they have a waiting area with water - Blue Mercury had nothing and I had to just awkwardly stand in the retail area. I didn't know what kind of facial i wanted and i assumed the esthetician would look at my skin and tell me what would be the most beneficial. She had no idea so i just chose whatever. I'm pretty sure she had rubber gloves on during the facial which just felt very unnatural on my skin and she rubbed in all products using her hands, no brushes or anything, which made the glove experience worse. They also didn't have a steamer there, she just put a hot wash cloth on my face for a minute. My skin was SO not ready for extractions. Typically with a steamer the extractions are easy and pretty painless because the steam gets everything to come to the surface. This sucked and now i have two red/purple spots on my nose - probably because she had no squeeze so hard to get everything out. So bummed :( The esthetician was very nice though, this is not a knock against her! read more
