I do wish that the gel and powder polishes had more of a selection from OPI as I find that brand is the longest lasting as opposed to other brands that I'm not familiar with. I have come here several times and I always am satisfied with my pedis. Today I had a pedi with Amy and she was terrific. I am only writing this because I read all the great reviews and was really excited to try Sofia Nails. I got a dip and polish change on my toes as I had gotten a full manicure and pedicure three days before. I was going on a beach vacation and wanted it done the day before our trip;) It was only four days and the dip came off multiple fingers (vs my regular salon it lasts a full two to three weeks before a single chip). The polish change was $25, which I would have thought would come with filing and cuticles for that price, but it was literally just putting polish on my unpainted toes. I said really, $25, and nothing else? And they confirmed just painting the polish on toes was $25. Sadly, I won't be going back, but wish my experience had been the great one I had hoped for:( read more

This is my regular place and I come here so often that it hasn't even crossed my mind to leave a review. I literally refuse to get my nails done anywhere else (and when I do, I regret it) because Lucy does such an amazing job EVERY TIME. The spa was really clean, and staff was wonderful and friendly. However I feel like I was charged too much for a gel refill ($80) , they usually charge $60 here for a gel refill but I wanted to do a design so that's why it was charged $80. Also during my appt, they told me no one was available to do a design I wanted so I had to come back 15 mins later. I don't really feel like my nails are ombré, I know my nails aren't the same shape as the one in the picture but I don't think the color came out the way I wanted. Again, spa and staff were great but personally I don't think I am a returning customer due to the prices. read more

I went to this salon yesterday as a new client. For lashes- 5 star!! For nail fill- 3.5 star. Lashes- Sofia did amazing work. She took her time and it was soooo relaxing. Hard not to fall asleep! The room was clean, bed was comfortable, neck pillow was perfect. I've had lashes done other places and the comfort and quality here was GREAT. Nails- I didn't get the woman's name. She was nice enough. But SO SLOW. Took almost 1.5 hours for a FILL. And the thickness is uneven and already bubbling in some spots (hasn't even been 24 hours). She took so long I thought it would be perfect- but no. If I hold my nails up to the light you can see the uneven line near my cuticles where she tried to fill. Overall I would absolutely recommend the Lash services. Not so much for nails though. I'll try nails one more time when I get lashes redone before I write them off completely. read more

I went in today with my daughter and I got a gel full set and pedicure and my daughter got a manicure and pedicure. The young woman who helped me was very nice, but I didn't love my nails....I wanted my nails to look as natural as possible and explained i liked the pictures on Yelp and how narrow the tips looked. I explained I didn't like when they are thick and boxy...well that's exactly what I got. I think she did her best, it just wasn't what I wanted. A different woman did my daughters nails and pedicure and did my pedicure and did a great job. I think I'd go back, just not for tips. read more

I've had a very pleasant experience at this salon. They didn't rush through the manicure but also didn't leave me waiting. I felt like I was taken care of well and am happy with the result! The variety of colors to choose from is not the biggest but definitely well enough, I even found the tone that would match my dress. Color was applied in two coats and I didn't see any flaws. Overall the salon seemed clean and I noticed that the equipment that was being used on me got washed right away. The biggest cleanliness struggle that I've found in other salons are the bowls they give you to soak your hands. At Sofia's they put plastic wrap inside the bowl before filling it with liquid, to make sure everything stays hygienic and clean. After the soaking they just threw the liquid and the plastic cover out. Generally, I'd refer this salon to a friend. read more

Super nice folks, pleasant atmosphere. I was trying to coordinate a polish to a dress and the guy at the desk very patiently helped me. The flat screen tv was tuned to HGTV so I watched an episode of Fixer Upper while I had my toes done. Tools they use for pedicures come out of a sealed sterile pack, and the tubs have disposable liners. If you lean germaphobe, like I do, this could be your place. I'll be going back. read more

I've been coming to Vivi at Quinnie's on and off for years now--she is the BEST! She is so sweet, so thorough with her work and so accommodating for appointments. All the girls at Quinnie's have done my nails (Quinnie, Wendy, etc) and they are all amazing, I never leave disappointed and I'm pretty picky! I've moved away from Newton Center and back again and still go out of my way to see Vivi--if I go anywhere else I am never happy with how my nails come out! read more

I recently started working in Newton and thought it'd be convenient to get my nails done right after work every couple of weeks.
