I absolutely love Kim and her team. They always provide great customer service. Hanh and the gentleman whose names always escapes me always does a great job on my toes and fingers. They especially take care to make sure when I request custom nails to do a diligent job and you can tell they love what they do! Ever since my old salon got sold, I've been coming to Nail It whenever I need to get mine done, which is probably a good 2 years now. I don't go regularly since I have pretty long nails and my polish usually lasts about 20+ days, but I go often enough that they know me here by name and face. Prices are about average as with most salons, so no complaints there. They'll charge me a lil extra for my custom work, but it's fair. Whenever someone wants to pamper themselves and wants to get their nails done, I always suggest Nail It and/or go with them! You can say.... they Nailed It!!! read more

I repeatedly told them i only wanted them to remove my acrylics and that I was in a rush. They wouldn't take no for an answer and after 10 no's just started painting my nails without asking me for a color or anything. Not only would I never go back again, I would advise everyone to boycott this place. Please don't give them any business. You get what you paid for = Pedi $29 If you are looking for a half a$$, small, outdated salon + color selection, semi clean salon and a pedicure in 22 minutes this is the place for you. The lady next to me set down the same time i did, while she's getting her feet scrubbed and massaged, i'm getting lotion smeared on my legs in 60 seconds, no hot stone, no massage, no scrubbing the feet, no cuticle cutting no attention to details. When i got up she told me where my shoes were and where to go dry my feet, when I paid she was lingering uncomfortably for a tip she didn't deserve. When I left, the lady next to me just set to dry her toes. I mean the whole experience was something to write about on yelp. Ugh could you up sale anymore. Annoying. And then when I pay extra for a massage you just rub my calf. I find most nail places do that. I sale yes to the upsale of a massage and the person just zones out rubbing my calf in the same spot for 10 minutes. It's a fine place but I had my daughter with me and the lady is like oh she wants a snowflake on the nails. Extra charge. Oh she wants them on her toe. Easily one of the worst gel manicures I've received. I stopped in today at 4:45, they had TWO staff working including Kim.. so naturally they're rushing. The gel is clearly old and bubbles when dry (see picture below). Quality has gone downhill at Nail To her response: I've been going for 3 years and watched the quality significantly decrease over the years, I've recently switched to Four Season in wellesley and it's not even comparable. For you to say you asked me each step of the way is horseshit you were too busy talking about your clients in your own language to pay attention to me as a customer. I expect better service as I've been a customer for 3 long years. As for the time I walked out without paying, you could've easily asked for that payment the next time I was in.. Asked for same color nails / toes - they put a different color on toes and didn't tell me or ask me if OK to use different color me - UNTIL I NOTICED AND ASKED WHY ARE THE COLORS DIFFERENT? This place is pretty good. They are generally able to handle walk-ins, which is great because leisure Nails across the street most often cannot. Their pedicures are generally good, but They generally rush through the process so overall it feels leas satisfying. They have a good range of colors and the place is clean. This is a very peculiar nail salon. The prices are great, the people are friendly, the colors are numerous. However, I've gotten two manicures there now and the technician pushes back my cuticles, soaks my nails, and then paints them. Neither time did anyone so any work on the skin around my nails, which is quite shabby, and I believe completely standard for any manicure I've ever gotten. Given that there are so many salons in the area, I might try another place. read more

My friend and I went to get our nails done there on Saturday. We both got gel which usually takes a little longer but the nail people did it in 15 minutes. We went here to get a Mani/Pedi and we had no appointment. So for letting us in without appointment for 2 mani/pedi and one polish change I will give them thumbs up! However, they did as short a pedi/mani as possible and for $38 & $28 respectively for each set of mani/pedi they are pricey and didn't use any brush to clean toes, cuticle remover for fingers etc! If the idea was to just not turn down a customer but cut short on service, then we're so sorry to have walked into this salon! After getting a short job on services, I still don't believe in tipping very less, but good lesson for future to not walk in and get only half a service done! I used to be a frequent loyal customer here. The prices are great, the techs are friendly. But it does seem like their service has gone downhill. Their gel manicures no longer last me the guaranteed 2 weeks. I found another place a couple months ago in Watertown and their gels seem to last pretty long. You get what you pay for. I tried Nail It for my new acrylic set because it was cheaper than my usual place. Now I know why. Three acrylics came off within 3 days of originally getting the set. I called in and they told me to stop by and they'd fix it. They told me to wait a minute, but it took them an hour to get to me. (Will touch more on this later). I suggested maybe it was the glue they used that made it fall off, and they said it was because my natural nails were small (they cut them but maybe they meant narrow). Clearly it's not that because at my usual place I can wait like two weeks before a fill. Literally that day, all the new ones and the old ones came off again. Rather than bother going back to fix it, I went and got a new set at my usual place. But how was the original service? Awful! Unlike a normal salon, they don't really assign one person to you, and instead have people rotating around. I assume this is supposed to be more efficient, but not for the customer. A lot of time is spent just waiting for them to come back. Services were lackluster - their acrylic mani is literally sloppily applying them and painting - no lotion, cuticle trimming, anything remotely extra. I feel bad leaving one star, since they did fix it the first time for free. But this is not worth it. In trying to save like $12 (idk the price of the acrylic mani bc I got it alongside my pedi which btw was ill-shaped and lackluster as well), I ended up wasting like $25. read more

Nail it is my go-to place for a mani-pedi. The staff who work there are super friendly and do a great, thorough job, and I am still in and out within an hour. They are super accommodating to walk-ins, which is great for me because I often decide I want my nails done at the most random times. Their prices are some of the best around as well. I've been here twice and I'm very pleased with this new addition to Newtonville. Both times I was that annoying person who was in a time crunch and had to be in and out quickly. They did a great job on my nails, and they finished me up right on time. Since I had so little time to dry, the woman working on me was concerned that I would smear. I really appreciated the fact that she told me to come back in and get it fixed for free if I made a mess of the job walking around in my boots 5 minutes after the last coat was done. Very disappointed in this manicure. The manicurist seemed to be rushing and it showed in the end result. My nails were shaped crooked and cut unevenly. The polish selection was limited, particularly in light colors, and ended up being bubbly and uneven. I got this manicure because I was going to a wedding over the weekend, but I ended up taking the polish off and reshaping my nails as soon as I got home. Save your money. read more

I'm in Newton for just over a month and hate the trial and error period of finding a great nail place. Boy did I get lucky! Nail It gave me a great pedicure, cleaning off the nasty calluses from living in the desert without me having to ask or pay extra. The polish looks great, the massage every time was wonderful, and all the staff is friendly. They even recognized me after my first visit!
