I placed an order on Friday and was told the food would be 45 minutes. I was a little thrown off when I heard the wait time but I had time so decided to continue with placing the order. I thought to myself the food has to be good if wait times are that long and ppl are willing to wait. I arrived to pick up my food and paid. I waited another 15 minutes inside the restaurant before my food was ready. While waiting I noticed there was only the cashier and a male working the outside and cooks I assume behind the counter. There were two tables eating and the cashier was the employee who was attending them and cashiering. I noticed food on the floor and a big pile of rice on a another table no one was sitting at. Im sure they get around to clean it but it looked to me as another person or two might help with the long wait times and to help keep the restaurant clean right after customers leave from a table. Just my opinion. Anyways I received my food and went home. I noticed they place your food in a bag and tie it for you at the top which does not give you a chance to inspect if you received everything because the bag is tied up. When I got home I was missing part of my order. Mind you I do not live in Wasco and I was not going to drive back. I called the business and a young lady answered. I told her what happened and she offered me store credit which I did not want. I wanted a refund. She the put the owner on the phone and he also offered me store credit to which I explained I did not want and I was not going to drive back because I live out of town. After our discussion the owner decided to give me a full refund for my food because he could not refund individual items. I was not looking for a full refund and explained to the owner I appreciate him taking care of his customers and standing by his business. The food looked really good! I gave my plate to my kids and ate something else because we were missing an order, but I definitely recommend Blue Sushi! The owner offers indoor seating and to go. The indoor seating seats approximately 25-30 ppl I would say and has large windows to the outside. Great place for lunch or an afternoon dinner with the family. Noodles, udon, salads are very good. Sushi (12 piece) is not always fresh. I tend to stay away from the sushi, but everything not related to fresh fish is pretty on spot. The chicken salad with mango is delicious. All meat is charred to perfection. Their bento boxes with tempura is good. For the past 3 years I've come here every time I'm in town for work or when I'm driving through to go to the beach and it's always amazing and delicious and is honestly my favorite part of coming to Wasco. However, this visit just ruined it and unfortunately I won't be returning which breaks my heart because I love it here and always recommend them. I came in and ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl to go at 11:45, by 12:10 the employee finally realized I had been waiting a while and asked what I ordered and checked the bags of to-go orders that had been sitting there for a while and saw that my order had been ready but no one ever called it out. I will give the employee credit for be apologetic but at this point the food had already been sitting there a while and because it took so long I wasn't going to have enough time to finish my food before going to my client's home and would continue to get even colder. I requested a refund rather than take the food (if you tip on your card you won't get your tip back fyi. Lost $5 so that was cool.) I was given my refund by a gentleman I'm assuming is a manager/supervisor/owner, but was never asked why I was requesting it and wasn't given the meal complimentary. Which I understand I'm not entitled to the food and wasn't expecting it BUT the gesture would've made me feel like they actually care about their customers and making things right for them; I would've come back and continued to recommend them. read more

First time trying this place! I was referred by a friend who lives in Wasco. I've been visiting Wasco often for work...but wanted some local input on a great place for lunch and this was what she recommended. It's a small restaurant inside, and doesn't have any dine in at the moment. The prices are really reasonable! My roll was only around $12-$13 which is nice! Especially since most places are hiking up their prices right now...which I can understand why! Anyway the service was really great! The lady ringing me up suggested the baked salmon roll she said it was pretty amazing so that's what I tired and she was right... it was amazing! I added some spicy mayo and hot sauce to the top of the roll and that made it even better then the first bite. This will be a definite stop for me more often, except Mondays as they are closed. read more

Blue sushi has some of the BEST teriyaki you'll ever eat in your life. I've yet to try teriyaki better than theirs. Also, the sushi is amazing too! They are usually great with call orders, and having orders ready in a timely manner. The restaurant itself is quite small but very welcoming and cozy! I know what you're thinking, good sushi... In Wasco, but I'm here to tell you that it's true. I got a couple of the rolls named for wasco related places, and a go-to for me, a rainbow roll. Quality and taste of food was great, and even though I took it to go I could see that the interior had a nice cafe feel to it, they can make for a good casual dining experience any community. Today I went in is mid-afternoon, on a weekday, and packed. I've been wanting to try this for years, but it never seemed to align. I'm sure glad I tried it, and I will definitely be back. read more

The sushi is excellent. I assume the odd hours are because everything is fresh and nothing is left over. They definitely know how to keep a standard of freshness and quality to their sushi. It is only a pickup. They have not resumed sit down. That is a bummer because it would be nice to just sit and enjoy the fresh meal. It is so good sometimes you want another. The customer service could be a little bit better. They aren't exactly rude but they aren't very welcoming. They simply take your order and ignore you until your order is ready. It really doesn't have any ambiance because it is not sit down it is simply order and take it to go. But the quality and the price of the sushi is excellent. The sushi was fresh and that's all that matters to me. Don't serve me no stinky fish or no questionable crab. They had great service and the place was clean. There's not a lot of options when it comes to food in western Kern county, so having a local sushi place is a great treat. And the food is quite good! We eat here when we can, although the early closing hour makes it a bit difficult at times. Not that I would want the hours to change, necessarily. After older location (Blue Sushi & Teriyaki) burned down several years ago it finally reopened (Blue Kitchen). Finally got to stop at this little gem once more! It's a must stop if you're in town. Excellent friendly service and awesome food. Sometimes there's a wait to get your food but it's really worth it. My go to is chicken teriyaki plater that comes with white rice, salad, chicken, and miso soup. Yuuum!! Idk what dressing they put on the salad but it adds such great splash of flavor to an otherwise simple salad. Chicken teriyaki was topped with sesame seeds and was exceptionally delicious! I order for take out, (4-28-23) a bento box, chicken with crunch roll. When I got home as doon as I opened the box, a rancid smell emitted from my dinner. It was the crunch roll. The flavor was rancid and had to throw it out along with half of the chicken teriyaki bcz it had waaay too many burnt pieces. I was very disappointed, to say the least. When I called to complain about the crunch I got NOTHING! The "supervisor" fidn't even apologized or said "hope we can do better next time" ...or anything similar! Bad, bad customer service!
