There's extensive vegan options here if need be. They also have all of their fish sourced too and they have certification for that. It's definitely a more trendy place. I do like the octopus that they have outside and the marine aquarium that they have inside. It is super busy and bustling, but our waitress did her best to stop by and check up on her when she could. For my order, I got the: 1) Charred Salt Edamame: -Charred with Maldon sea salt. -Small bowl of edamame, nice big salt grains on it. The char gives a slight smoky flavor. Not bad. 2) Philadelphia Roll: -Comes with 8 pieces. -This is the standard raw salmon with cream cheese, cucumber, and scallion. -I'm used to rolls having less rice and lots of protein in it, but again, this isn't an AYCE so I can't judge by that standard. Overall not bad, but it's a standard roll. 3) Sake Nigiri: -Salmon sushi, 2 pieces. -Fish was okay quality. Not the level of freshness of melt in your mouth butteriness that I usually enjoy. It was also a lot of rice too. 4) Hibiscus Squeeze: -Non-alcoholic mocktail. It's freshly squeezed lemonade with hibiscus and pomegranate. -A bit more tart than what I have would liked, but at least the presentation was nice and cute. I like the color. Overall, it's probably best for the vegans/vegetarians out there or if you can't get sushi elsewhere.
We went last week right when the opened so we were the only people there the whole time. The hostess seemed annoyed that we were there RIGHT when they opened but over server made up for it! She was so nice and friendly. They have a great happy hour menu with lots of yummy bites! We got edamame - which were spicy! And the crab cheese Rangoons and each got 1-2 rolls of our own! I will say there wasn't nearly enough cream cheese in the Philly roll and it was weird that the salmon came on top. I think I got like the hotel roll or something like that (can't remember the exact name) but it was delicious!! Will definitely go back!
I had been to this restaurant in Chicago, and when I found out it was a chain, I thought, "Let me go to the Denver location, and see how it compares." Ambiance was great. Drinks were great. And food was great! I will definitely be back. The quality, for the price-- very good! The calamari wasn't the best, but maybe is it just not the right season? I'll try it again in 6 months, ha. The Shishito Peppers were Not pictured was the "Cherry Bomb" -- I highly recommend those bites! Our server was fine... I could tell he was ready to leave, and was a little burnt out. But it happens. It didn't break the experience. I'll definitely be back for good priced & good quality eats and drinks. Thanks for having us!
I have gone to this Blue Sushi Sake Grill a few times now, and I do enjoy it. It is in the middle of Downtown Denver, which is easy to walk to if you're staying in the area. As with any downtown location, parking can be hit or miss. Food: I love that Blue Sushi has a good variety of items for vegetarians and vegans. My favorites are the avo kaluna and the shiitake to me rolls. Both are vegan. They also have a great lunch menu and happy hour specials! Service: Service has been great every time I have come. The servers always check on me regularly. The food also comes out promptly. TL;DR - Great vegetarian/vegan selection, and I'll always come back when in the area.
The miso soup was ok... refreshing and warm but not super flavorful. The Unami Maki was super flavorful and a must-get. Same with the Eden Roll... also a must get. This was our first round of order and we were super happy with it so we ordered more. Round 2 was Bito Maki 2.0 and Shiitake to Me and both were a little underwhelming. We would go again for just the first 2 rolls and not venture too much into the other options sadly. Ambiance is also really nice here and you feel like you're in a decent Sushi spot.
Had a lot of fun at this happening sushi bar. My niece and I rolled up to the shared high top and enjoyed our sushi. Had the Hawaiian roll which had a yummy mango sauce. Lightly hard crunchy experiencing was a nice match to the crab and such interior. My niece had. Egan rolls. I tried one of them and was very happily surprised at how good it was. Great place for us to go and catch up after wandering around a bit downtown.
I wish yelp would let me give a half star. I feel like 3.5 would be a great rating for this spot. The menu was expansive but to the point where It was a bit overwhelming. The sushi was solid, tastey , well made and well plated. The yellowtail was a bit fishy IMO but edible. They have tons of vegan options which I've never seen before at a sushi restaurant so great if that's what you're looking for! Cocktails were good. In the realm of sushi I'd dine again but just not the best I've ever had
Yooo, let me tell you we LOOOVE happy sushi spots and this place is a gem! Not only do they have great happy hour deals, but everything we tried (and I'm assuming the entire menu) is super tasty. I will rave so hard about the vegan options here, because what I had was amazing! The staff was really cool and very friendly, and the drinks had bangin' flavor! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Blue sushi sake grill is by far the best vegan sushi I've had! They have so many fun rolls that you can choose from. The ambiance is beautiful and they play great music. The staff is very friendly but food does come out a little slower but it's well worth the wait. They have a fabulous happy hour menu with discounted rolls and drinks until 6pm every day. Old industrial type building with open ceiling and accompanying plumbing. Quickly seated and ready to order. Hawaiian, Lion King & South Pacific rolls ordered. They were delivered quickly with the Hawaiian Roll delivered on a separate plate as requested there's mango in this one and mango allergy at the table. All 3 rolls were excellent, the rice was not dry and ingredients were fresh. Bonus - low sodium soy sauce was present on all tables. I didn't have to ask for it. Prices were reasonable, plus we were there during happy hours so prices were even better. For us the 3 rolls were plenty, we weren't hungry when we left. Visited Blue Sushi Sale Grill for the first time. I love that they have such an extensive Happy Hpur and that it's extended outside of the usual hours. I went with a group, and everybody's order looked great. I'll want to come back to try to done of the other options. We ordered the charred edamame to start. It was really good and an upgrade from regular edamame. For sushi, I had the Salmon Skin Roll and the Lion King roll. The salmon skin was nice and crispy! The Lion King roll was a classic offering that hit the spot. I would have given a five had we not had to wait an hour for our food. That definitely was too long of a wait.
We love this sushi spot and make the drive from the Springs. We always order the miso and a few different rolls every time to try! Their Happy Hour has many options as well!

This restaurant has lot of Japanese flair from the Japanese candle lanterns to the murals on the wall to the big fish tank near the ceiling. Seating is very comfortable and spaced out so ur not hearing each parties conversation. The menu has a wide variety of different sushi. We got the dipping crab for appetizers. It was so yummy. That was by far my favorite but a close second was the tuna tataki. The soft shelled crab had so much meat in every bite and was so full of flavor. The tuna was fresh and just melted in my mouth. We also got the Spanish fly and Cabo rolls which were also good. For drinks, we got the Coco Hydration which was well crafted, light and refreshing. Prices were very reasonable. I came here with a group for their Sunday happy hour. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server was very attentive. We got a variety of different food and drinks and I think everyone enjoyed what they got. They do add a 3% employee wellness fee to the bill plus an additional 1.5% if you use a credit card. read more

Blue Sushi emits a cool, club-like vibe, with the blue lights over the door, at reception, lighting and aquarium. So it gives you drama as you first enter. The servers work as a team, so you may have different people taking your orders and delivering drinks, appetizers, food. This approach definitely makes the experience seamless, and you are never waiting over long for the next course. The sushi, sashimi, asian dishes are delicious. For those sho like it hot, you can turn up the spice volume, which isn't always the case at such restaurants. Most of orders were sushi and rolls, but we were shocked when we saw the boat arrived. Made a reservation for 3 at 7:45 pm today. Upon walking in I just had a feeling this was not gonna be a good night. Despite a restaurant that was 20-30% full the hostess was rushing around, unfriendly, and generally looked pressed. We waited about 5-10 minutes for our table and she brought us there, put the menus down and walked off. Okay whatever. Our server comes over pretty fast and asks for drinks. No hi, welcome, I'm so and so, have you been here before. They have a pretty extensive drink menu (front and back of a menu) so I said I needed a few minutes. Didn't not seem to thrill her. She comes back and my friends give their order and I'm still debating- she looks more annoyed and walks off. When she drops their sake I order the dirty martini from their cocktail list, and we get the crab rangoons. She brings my martini and I order the crispy rice and two rolls, my friend gets a roll, but the third friend says I'm not ordering anything and she just looks at her and goes "oh okay liquid diet". Not in a fun, jokey way like we had camaraderie, which we don't because you have treated us like we were the biggest annoyance since we sat down. Crispy rice comes. And then.....the waiting begins. I took a photo of my crispy rice at 8:12 pm. I then took the photo of my rolls at....8:44 pm. It took 32 minutes for three rolls from the traditional roll menu, not anything crazy, to come out. In that time of 33 minutes we had: no updates on food, no check in, and all our drinks sat empty and we were never asked if we wanted more. I finally flagged her down and she goes "do you need something?". Ummmmm yes actually. I said just wondering about rolls? And she snaps, they're coming! Funnily enough, within 45 seconds of me asking, she comes walking out with our food. She drops it and leaves. Never asked us again if we ever wanted more drinks, how the food was, dessert- nothing. When she took our empty plates we asked for the check, paid and left and she just stared at us like we were the worst table of her career the entire time she ran our cards. I was a server for five years. I was never rude or snappy. Her behavior was unacceptable and for no reason. My friends? Also my co workers. Our dinner was being expensed. We could have dropped $200 or more if she was just nice. I'll never understand what we did to annoy her so badly. On top of it- I found the food mid as hell. Everything is imitation crab, the crispy rice was mostly rice, 4 slivers for $14, and my rolls looked like grocery store rolls with tiny slivers of fish in them that so couldn't even taste (and I ordered simple rolls like yellowtail). My martini was served so dirty it was green and had been shaken so much it was covered in ice crystals (which melt and dilute the drink, although I was grateful in this case bc it took a slight edge off all the salt). When I leave paying $60 for just myself for three things- I expect them taste well and be made with quality Overall, never coming back when there are so many other places to try. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and it was not too busy; we got seated right away. We came during happy hour which was a big plus as the normal menu did seem a bit pricey. We ordered: Spicy Edamame 8/10 Crispy Rice 7/10 (sitting in salty soy sauce) Ceviche 8/10 Dragon Fruit Lemonade 8/10 Spicy Sake roll 8/10 Cabo roll 8/10 Yellowtail Serrano 8/10 Truffle Salmon 8/10 Itchy Salmon 6/10 (sitting in salty soy sauce) Lion King roll 8/10 Brussels Sprouts 10/10!! So good we ordered another after we finished Cherry Bomb 8/10 House Salad 7/10 Wish for some of the dishes they did not have them sitting in soy sauce as it made them too salty and overpowered any other flavors. Service was kind and attentive but they do charge a 3% employee wellness fee? And their automatic tip options r 20, 22, 25% which I thought was quite high given the automatic fee. The 16th Street Mall is BACK! and better than ever! A great choice for dining delight is Blue Sushi Sake Grill. I've been intending to try this place, and today, as the free mall-shuttle stopped in front, i decided, "Today is the day." What a good decision! The host pleasantly accommodated my wish to be seated outside (perfect for people-watching). The attentive waiter (Tim) clearly loves his job -- he was very familiar with the menu, and made valuable suggestions. But it's the delectable food that will make Blue Sushi your go-to for Japanese Fusion cuisine. Honestly, the creative blends of flavors is astonishing. I suggest a multi-dish approach in order to experience that flair. I started with one of their 'Specialty Sashimi' offerings, Tuna Tataki. Oh, Lord! the balance of flavors and textures was simply perfect! VERY highly recommended. No photo, but a similar presentation to their Truffle Salmon (much saltier, and without a pepper-crust). Another winner is from the 'Share Plate' section, Crispy Brussels Sprouts. You may have had a dish with this name at other restaurants, but nowhere else is like this version or even close to as palate-pleasing! Again, it's the unique blend of flavors and textures that makes it a win. I also ordered the garlic version of Charred Edamame. Waiter Tim thoughtfully provided an empty bowl for 'leavings', and i found that the way to enjoy these salty/spicy legumes is by dragging the whole pod through your teeth to drag out the beans inside. Going to Blue Sushi Sake Grill was a foodie-pleasing experience. Do try it! read more
We came here for Happy Hour. Everything was delicious except for the ceviche. Would recommend skipping it as it doesn't have much flavor at all. The spicy and charred edamame was surprisingly so good! As for the sushi, it was pretty standard, but was fresh and yummy. read more

After coming back from the mountains, my friend and I found this place outside of the Union Station ( a few blocks or so). The lightning inside was cool, dark blue, and intimate. We tried some sushi rolls and drinks from their happy hour. I tried a vegan sushi and it was different, I'll say that. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the drink more. read more
One of my favorite sushi places in Denver! Great happy hour! Great location! Great atmosphere, food, cocktails, and service! The restaurant has a spacious dining area as well as cocktail and sushi bar seating. Aesthetically speaking, Blue is modern, upscale casual, and gives authentic vibes for a sushi and saki establishment. Restaurant is creatively and beautifully decorated with aquariums, Japanese culture pieces, and even an airplane wing! My favorite cocktails are the samurai sakatini, espresso martini, and the coconut breezy! All cocktails are handcrafted, beautifully presented, refreshing, and get the job done, if you know what I mean! Blue also has great mocktails that I have also enjoyed. The hot popper is my favorite sushi roll at Blue! Love it every time! Other favorites among the food include the mango crab rangoon, the hotel Cali roll, the tidal wave roll, and the lion king roll! We came here for our last night in Denver and ordered a Lion King roll, Hawaiian roll, and a spicy sake roll. Overall the meal was just okay. The Lion King was tasty but it was more sauce than sushi. The crab mix in the Hawaiian roll lacked flavor. We were misled by the Yelp check-in deal because it was not honored. I hope management will remove the deal from Yelp if it is no longer valid. read more
Blue Sushi Sake Grill excels at the presentation of their dishes as well as service while the flavor is descent enough for the high prices of the items. Highlight of the meal was the sake flight. We got both sake flights and they both contained 3 different sakes to try which was very enjoyable to find a sake I really liked as well as some less desirable ones. The value was also really good at $13 and $15 for the two flights. The sushi itself was quite average and quite expensive. I got the madai sashimi and the green eggs and Hama which were nothing special. For dessert got the mochi ice cream with the black sesame, matcha, lychee, and the special. The black sesame was probably my favorite of the bunch but I don't know if I would order it again as the mochi wasn't that great. The lighting was pretty bad at our spot but it didn't ruin the experience. Overall great place for sake and descent enough sushi. read more

Had such a great experience here! We had a reservation for Sunday afternoon for four people, and the restaurant was very accommodating, allowing us to push it back by half an hour. When we got there, we were sat instantly and our server (i can't remember her name-maybe Abby?) was super attentive and sweet. We loved the all day happy hour, it had some of the best rolls and appetizers, as well as all their best drinks. We tried the blue mule which was super yummy as well as the crispy, brussels sprouts, Cucumber Sunomono, spicy charred garlic edamame and miso soup. The soup was just OK but the cucumbers and brussels sprouts were delicious. To eat, we tried a number of different roles, including the Spanish fly, Amazon, lion king, Crunchy LA and Philadelphia. The best one by far was the lion King, it had a taste of smoky flavor in the salmon that reminded me of an Omakase dish. The Amazon roll was also really good, the chimichurri really elevated it. I wasn't as big of a fan of the Spanish fly roll but it's nice to try different options to learn what we like for next time. The happy hour prices are super reasonable, and overall the value was definitely there Can't wait to come back ! read more
