Gotta love Blue Moose! Our waitress provided great service, and the restaurant has a good atmosphere, and Great food at a reasonable price. If you visit, Don't forget to use your KC Hopps guest rewards card. I seem to get the same thing every time I come to this restaurant. It is simple, tasty, and gluten-free. It is the cranberry walnut salad with champagne vinaigrette and I get chicken for my protein. Love the dressing. There was a little too much on my salad, so next time I will ask for it on the side. We enjoyed going here for Mother's Day. They always offer a great brunch buffet with several options. Options include a carving station, some lunch menu items and a dessert buffet. The buffet sometimes is laid out a little crazy but I am sure they are trying to spread it out as best they can. Service was great even with a packed house. We'll likely be back next year! read more

We went to Blue Moose Grill to celebrate our anniversary and enjoy Game 1 of World Series. The service was excellent, the food was good and well plated. Tuesday $10 wine bottle special was such a great deal. The restaurant offers a nice selection of the usual bar fare, but also provides unique entrees and specials. Recommendations: fish and chips, chipotle braised short ribs. Update: Blue Moose is a welcome fixture in our neighborhood. However, our visits have been riddled with inconsistency. I love the menu items, and usually tend to order either the chipotle braised short ribs or the miso salmon. The first time I ordered the salmon it was perfect- wonderfully plated with the freshest of vegetables to accompany the fish. Months later the same dish is drowning in its sauce with overcooked wilted vegetables that look like the leftovers of an overcooked sauté. Short ribs are tricky, because they are not lean cuts of beef- still, my last meal of short rib was particularly greasy with more fat than flavorful meat. The Sunday brunch is mediocre at best in terms of selection and service. I do hope this restaurant will improve its efforts, as I would like to see it succeed in this Western Lenexa area. read more

I generally enjoy this restaurant as the food is good, and the service has always been decent. Not so last night! 1. Not service related, but to begin with, I went online to book a table. I believe I booked at 6:30-ish hoping to get a 7:30 reservation and the soonest I could get in was 8:00. When we got there, it was very, very slow and hardly anybody was in the restaurant. I was surprised that I had to wait. No big deal but slightly irritating, so wondering about the app. Maybe I should've just called. 2. I got a call shortly after our party was seated and had to run out of the restaurant for about 15 min to take care of something. The other two people I was with waited for me at the restaurant, and I asked them to put in my order in 5 minutes. My friend informed me that they had to track down our server in order to do so and it took her over 5 minutes to find her in order to place said order. 3. Lizzie O was our server. A. I asked for lemon in my water and didn't get It. Again, no biggie but annoying. B. When food was delivered, server asked if we needed anything else which we did. She forgot a side of bbq sauce for fries. She got it and then she never came back to check on us. My guests would have ordered more drinks had she done so. C. When my order was placed server was told no onion on my hamburger. I'm allergic (but not overly so) and rather than sending it back I just had to get rid of anything the onion had touched, e.g., lettuce & tomato. Again, no biggie but annoying. Server did not listen to preferences. No lemon, no onion and no bbq sauce. I would recommend she start writing things down if she can't remember these types of things. D. After finishing our meal, we sat there for quite a while, waiting to see if she would ever come back so we could order dessert. When we finally flagged her down (she had been busy working on closing duties) we informed her that we wanted to order dessert. "Well, if it's after 9:00, the kitchen is closed." It was after 9:00 (it was 9:15.) so we didn't get any dessert. I waited tables for years, and I still cannot fathom why she didn't come to ask if we wanted any dessert or anything because the kitchen would be closing soon. Her attitude was not at all apologetic but more lik ,"sucks to be you." VERY disappointed, and, frankly, somewhat embarrassed, because these were out of town guests that I brought with me and I bragged on how good the restaurant was. They walked away saying that when they come back to town to visit they don't want to eat there again. I still love their brunches, but don't believe I'll ever go back there except for Sunday mornings. read more

I chose to drive here which was the furthest from me out of the three Blue Moose Bar & Grille locations because it was a nice day to go cruisin' around. One of my coworkers told me that Blue Moose wasn't that great and another said it was bar food. I specifically came here to try their restaurant week lunch menu. I came maybe around 11:30am and this place was almost empty. I sat in a booth and noticed every booth had a tv which was playing a college basketball game. My waitress was Bailey and she was nice. She actually reminded me of my friend and I eventually found out that she wasn't related to my friend (don't know if you don't ask). A lot of the food on their regular menu was under $20 with a couple over. I ordered from the restaurant week lunch menu and ordered the 6 Cheese Mac & Cheese Croquettes, Pork Meatball Banh Mi, and Bailey's Coffee & Cream Napoleon ($6). The restaurant week menu was 2 for $15 so I added that dessert on because my waitress heard it was good. I don't believe any of those were on their regular menu unless the 6 Cheese Mac & Cheese Croquettes was similar to the Smoked Cheddar Mac & Cheese Croquettes ($7.99). The 6 Cheese Mac & Cheese Croquettes came out first and there were 3 of them. It was not bad but I couldn't tell there were 6 cheeses. Anybody who likes Mac & Cheese will like that regardless if there's 6 cheese or not. It filled me up some but I wasn't quite full. The Pork Meatball Banh Mi came out a little later. It had a lot of everything on the sandwich so i was barely able to close it without stuff overflowing. It was okay but was flavorful. I thought it had similar flavors to a Vietnamese banh mi. The fries included were okay and nothing special to me. While I was maybe around halfway through my sandwich, my dessert came out to my table. I was surprised because dessert doesn't come out until after the table was done with an entree. I felt a little rushed because of that and I didn't like that. The Bailey's Coffee & Cream Napoleon was delicious and a lot of chocolate. In fact, it had a little too much chocolate so I found myself drinking. Besides that, it was still good to me. Two people can easily share it. I thought Blue Moose Bar & Grille was okay and probably good if you're there to watch a game. read more

Just wow! I had a plethora of items and all were so delicious! The empanadas were so tasty, the Bork belly had an amazing Thai chili sauce, and the chips were the perfect amount of crunch. The pasta was full of tasty grilled chicken and sausage, the Mac and cheese was filled with 5 different cheeses. The gouda cheesy corn was the perfect creamy treat. The whipped cauliflower was just okay, sadly. The award though goes to the artichoke bisque!! I could eat a whole gallon of that delicious soup!! Will be coming here again! We had an Easter brunch reservation at 12:45 pm and we were taken to our table as soon as we checked in. Even though the restaurant was full there were plenty of servers and bus help. Food was set out throughout the restaurant so there weren't any bottle necks making it easy flow for patrons. I really wanted to love this place because the menu sounded so good online. We had a party of 9. Ordered the spinach dip, pretzels, and nachos to start. The nachos were just a giant pile of soggy chips and chicken, very minimal other toppings hiding under the chicken. The pretzels and spinach dip were okay. The dip needed seasoning. I got Mac and cheese with breaded chicken, and the cheese sauce kind of tasted like stale beer. Not good at all. The chicken was good. The shrimp pasta had a very watery sauce with no flavor; my sister didn't even eat it. My brother ordered wings, and they finally came out after everyone else was done eating. They did comp the wings because of the wait. The people that ordered sandwiches did enjoy their meals! It is nice you can order half entrees. Probably won't return. read more

We eat here often and now that Door Dash will deliver, it's perfect for days I work through lunch (most days). Today, I ordered my favorite salad (Superfood Salad with Salmon)...the restaurant was running late. No problem, I'm used to it, they are always late for pickup orders...I still order regularly because the Superfood Salad and fries are my lunchtime jam (little healthy, little carby...balance). So my delivery was late, again no biggie (the dasher apologized profusely). I guess the restaurant felt bad for yet another late delivery and cold wilted fries (it's okay we have a toaster oven in my office), so they threw in TWO chocolate chip cookies. Niiiiice! FREE DESSERT *insert happy dance GIF*!....No! They were BURNT! Not like a "little crispy around the edges"...Like BUUUUURNT burnt! I mean come on, my food's already late, my fries will have to be recooked...don't insult me with inedible potentially tasty chocolate chip cookies. So disappointing! Came for dinner at about 6pm for lent and ordered the fish and chips only to be told 10 mins later that it was sold out, then ordered the catfish po boy only to be told 5 mins later that it was sold out. Got the fish tacos with coleslaw and tortilla was crumbly and the coleslaw was basically dressing soup with a teaspoon of actual coleslaw. And not to mention there was a hair in the food. I didn't bother to tell the server as I was grossed out and just paid my check. I went to Johnny's down the Highway and got my fish and chips that was fantastic. How can you run out of the top lent food options before dinner? I'd highly recommend avoiding blue moose until after lent. Bright side is the food comes with free hair. read more

We had lunch there during 2023 Restaurant Week. Definitely not worth the $20 x 2. The two wontons were overcooked. Her "Shepherds Pie" was hamburger gravy but eatable. My Korean BBQ wings were ok (BBQ was missing?). My beef sandwich was ok. BUT my "French Onion Soup" was horribly awful. After one sip I set it aside. Picture a hot bowl of fatty, greasy vegetable broth with limp onions and a bit of mozzarella sunk at the bottom. First time I had ever not eaten the food I ordered. We had brunch the last time we were at Blue Moose and thought it was great! So I expected something better on my second visit. Perhaps the chef was sick. It will take some time to get past this disappointing memory and return for Brunch. read more

Came for lunch yesterday & the restaurant was decorated like a ski lodge with a big blue moose head in the main dining area. It had a nice cozy feel to it. They also had tvs in all the booths from what I noticed. The waitress was very energetic & informed us of their most popular starter from the small plates section which was the Shrimp Wonton. Sad part is they ran out so we opted for the Spinach Artichoke Dip which was good. I ordered the House Salad $8.99 & added Chicken $2.99 with Ranch dressing. Nothing great about it but it wasn't bad. We was a one-man show...... working the bar, serving tables, checking out to-go orders, cleaning tables, etc. You name it he did it! Prior to half time 8 patrons were left. Prior to this the manager was seen maybe 3 times who walked past us on her way to the overflow dining room never asking if we needed anything. Guess she's confident Ross is the super server and he wouldn't want help ‍ Food--- chicken nachos........ horrible!! How do you mess up nachos??? "Maybe" 1/4 of a chicken breast, two TBS diced tomatoes, 6 jalapeños slices, 1/4 cup cheese all for the low price of $14. DO NOT order nachos. The manager needs to quality control what's contour of the kitchen vs. being MIA! An order was messed up in the booth next to us. Again with 4-5 orders how do you mess it up? eing in customer service for half of my life and then transitioning to being a salon owner/ manager I've learned so much more about the customer experience. I don't ever leave a bad review bc I understand the depth of what that can be for a business. All that to say I had the absolute worst experience at Blue Moose Lenexa location, by the actual General Manager. They served my family and I the tiniest wings I've ever seen in my life. I wouldn't serve those to anyone if I was the manager. I understand with covid things have changed but it was embarrassing what the wings looked like. Not only that but they also had feathers on them. I took them back so I can order something else and when I pointed out there were feathers on my wings the GM laughed in my face and repeatedly told me there was no way feathers would be on my wings. If you've ever had anyone gaslight you the way he did you would just be in shock and I was. He said he wasn't going to even look at my wings because there's no chance they're feathers on them. He mad a scene in front of his hostess and felt like he was trying to embarrass me. He talked to me like I was a child. He didn't apologize or offer to get me something else. I had a menu I was looking at to order something else and he told me to leave. He told me there was a Johnny's down the street and he didn't want my business as he continued to chuckle. It was blown out of proportion and I am still in shock of how I was treated unfairly. I've enjoyed both the Lenexa and Prairie Village location multiple times. The last time I had friends from out of town visiting who wanted to meet for lunch I couldn't recommend the Lenexa location. The food is generally good and service is fine...but the space itself is in need of an update. absolutely awful. we walked in and sat down and it took about 30 mins for the waitress to even say hello to us a different waitress had to get our drink order. then we ordered our food and it took about 45 mins for it to get to the table. only 4 out of 6 of the plates came out and our food was cold when it got to the table. one person didn't get their food and waited for someone to even come over to the table to even tell them. the manager came over and we told them about it and acted like it was normal which it wasn't at all. we had to go ask at the bar for our condiments that we had asked for. the manager never apologized for the stuff that was happening . the manager came over and was going to make us pay for our food that came and drinks. we told the manager what happened and had a very bad attitude with us and crumbled up our receipt right in front of us and walked away. read more

Ive been looking for a place that has all you can eat Fish on Friday nights, without it being Lent. Found just that at the Blue Moose. $15.99 for all the fish and chips you can eat. I ordered that, and after about 10 mins, they came out with 1 giant hunk of fish, and a few smaller pieces. Its very hot, and the batter seems like it is battered and fried to order. My only complaint about the fish here, is that they don't have a traditional tartar sauce, they have some sort of lemon caper aioli. It tastes okay, but I really was looking for a traditional tartar sauce. If I go again, I may request some roasted garlic ranch instead of the aioli. The ambiance is that of a traditional sports bar and grill. Plenty of TVs line the walls and there is a giant big screen. They play music, so you can not hear what is happening on the TVs. I would assume during Chiefs or Royals, maybe KU games, that they probably turn on the volume, but while I was there, the World Series was on, and no sound to be heard. They also have individual TVs in some of the booths, but they do not allow sound from them either. I didn't have them this time, but the Fried Pickles here, are my favorite in the city. Along with the Roasted Garlic Ranch sauce they serve them with. The Roasted Garlic Ranch is the same as at Barley's or any of the other KC Hopps Franchises. I hear that it is a secret on how they make it, but I would sure love to know. read more

The food here is incredible and atmosphere is even better, we got to watch the sports games we wanted to and management and staff were super friendly. had a long in-depth conversation with Dylan Hall, kid's great went above and beyond to assure our visit to blue moose was amazing and that we'd come back. would recommend to anyone who has a mouth. read more
