We were fortunate to have James at Blue Dot Pools recommended to us when we were searching for a company to assist with our pool and hardscape remodel. James met with us and came across as extremely knowledgeable and creative regarding our project. He very specifically outlined every aspect of the plan which included a resurfacing of the interior of the pool as well as installing a travertine patio and updating our built-in Barbecue Grill and Firepit. We have built and updated our pool and yard at previous residences using other contractors and I would say that our experience with Blue Dot and James was by far the best. They made it very easy to select materials to use for the pool and hardscape and made wonderful suggestions as to what would work and inventive ideas to make our backyard space look perfect. In addition, James and his team placed an emphasis on safety as we updated not only our pool, but also our BBQ Grill and Firepit. Blue Dot Pools absolutely transformed my pool, patio and backyard from an old, outdated, tired pool system and decking to a gorgeous, sparkling, elegant oasis. It was a big job, as they completely redid the pool with a new system (removing old popup system and changing it to salt), rebar repairs and mini pebble resurfacing, tile and travertine decking, patio and walkway (even incorporating a travertine French drain), but James and his team worked diligently to get the job done within a very short period of time to accommodate a backyard wedding that I was hosting for my nephew. They encountered challenges along the way with respect to pre-existing structural issues (both with the pool and the patio), and they discussed them with me and came up with wonderful solutions each time. The entire team was polite, timely, responsive and creative, and I can't thank them enough. It was worth every penny, as it truly upgraded the entire property. After four years the entire pool deck surface has deteriorated. I had several other contractors come out recently and they both said that the surface was prepared incorrectly. I now have to spend an additional $3000 to have it done again. In addition, the flagstone attached to the far side of the pool is loose and needs to be re-cemented. There are better companies out there. read more

In 2012 I bought a house on a short sale that had an old in-ground pool. When I say old, I'm talking about 30 years or so. On top of that, the previous owners didn't take the best care of it. So basically I had a very cosmetically outdated pool with plaster that was eroding away and very rough. I lived with it for a while, and in December of 2015, I decided it was time to fix it up and add some new features. Although this was a residential renovation/remodel, it was a big job. I was doing a resurface along with new waterline tile and cap tile, which is pretty normal. I was also going to do away with the never-functioning-properly in-floor cleaning system and having four standard returns plumbed in. In addition, I wanted to add a water feature and a baja shelf. I researched online a bit, did the best I could at figuring what the cost should be based on work others had done, and narrowed it down to four builders. I contacted them and set up appointments to meet with each of them to get estimates. The first builder never bothered to show up for the appointment, and didn't bother to call either. When I called, they were pretty dismissive about it, so I decided if I can't get them out when they're trying to make a sale, I had doubts they'd be any good to work with once they had my money. Next up was Blue Dot Pools. James, the owner, was the person who came out to do the estimate. I don't know what it was...it's not something I could put my finger on, but he was instantly likable. There was no sales pitch, no memorized spiel to go through. He simply introduced himself and told me about himself and his company. Afterward, he went around and took his measurements and sat with me to go over what I wanted. One thing I remember is a sentence he said to me during our first meeting, "This is your pool." He would say that any time I would ask about having something done. Don't worry about what I think or what I want...this is your pool. Considering how many builders out there are more concerned about doing things their way and pushing products/services on you that they want to sell, this was really refreshing. The next day James emailed me an itemized estimate along with a hand-drawn design for the wall/water feature we talked about (he doesn't do the fancy 3D computer design stuff). The pricing came back right around what I expected (actually, a little lower), so there were no issues there. At this point I did something I wouldn't really recommend - I called and cancelled my other appointments. I figured I was just offered a good price by a builder I was very comfortable with, so I rolled the dice with James and Blue Dot Pools. Boy, am I glad I did. Blue Dot Pools isn't one of the huge companies, and he uses sub-contractors as opposed to having an in-house crew for all of the different facets of the job. Let me also tell you that every single sub-contractor, actually every single person, that came out to work on this project was friendly, courteous, and respectful of my property. This is important because this wasn't a new build, it was a remodel of an existing pool in a yard that already had desert landscaping. I'll also tell you that the work completed from every crew that came out, from chip-out to tile, to plumbing/electrical, and finish application was absolutely outstanding. Nothing needed to be fixed or re-done throughout this whole process. James was there every step of the way, checking to make sure people showed up on time and then inspecting work after it was completed. He was also in constant communication with me, via text, phone, and email to answer any questions I had. This is the owner, mind you. I really can't say enough about Blue Dot Pools and James' customer service. Simply second-to-none. James was very patient with me as I waffled on some of my decisions, and never once got frustrated with me, even when I did some upgrades at the last-minute. He just kept saying, "This is your pool." When all was said and done, my old outdated pool had been turned into a gorgeous little oasis. This is the kind of pool you expect to see at a nice hotel, only smaller. This has just been a great experience from start to finish. One final thing I'd like to add...James never really treated this like another job. He was actually enthusiastic about it and was almost as excited as I was to see the finished product. He took pictures constantly and was always going on about how nice this was going to be when it was done. He was right. It exceeded my expectations, as did he. This is a man who really enjoys and takes pride in what he does. He should be proud of himself and his company. I give James and Blue Dot Pools my highest recommendation if you are in the market for a new pool, remodel, renovation, or pool service. Absolutely second-to-none. read more

Blue Dot installed our pool 2 years ago. We have been VERY happy with everything. First contact - I have a good friend who owns a pool building business but was in the process of moving to another state. I contacted my friend to ask him to build the pool but due to his circumstances he couldn't do it in the time frame we wanted (signed contract late June, finish before end of summer) because he wouldn't be in town for the summer. I asked who I should talk to and he gave me James' contact info and said he's the best builder in the valley. The entire process with Blue Dot was great. We went through the design and ordering process in June. Selected colors and materials. We changed many things along the way, but James and the others at Blue Dot always took care of us. After a lot of changes we signed the final plan in late June. They started the build process quickly - so soon that I'm sure they had crews scheduled even before we finalized the plan. Kept us informed when crews were coming (and due to our rush they were early most of the time). The entire build process was great!!! I especially appreciated the fact that James was very direct in pointing out where I could do some of the smaller jobs myself and save money (like safety locks on the doors and fence, etc.). He was more than happy to keep me involved in the build. Blue Dot finished the pool just like we wanted and the kids were swimming end of August. Then, just when you'd expect a builder to disappear and move onto the next job ... things got better. James came over the day the pool finished filling and spent 2 1/2 hours giving me a private pool school training. He went over the equipment, showed me how to test the water, gave details about why I needed to do all the things he was teaching me. This is the first pool we've had and I learned so much that neighbors and family contact me to ask pool questions. Of course I didn't remember everything .... but James and I emailed back and forth daily for the first 40 days (at his request) for me to send him the numbers and James to coach me on what to do to keep the water clean and clear. Then, a year later we started noticing cracks in the deck. One email to James and his crew was there a few days later to patch and fix the deck. Then, two years later (a few days ago) I thought I had some equipment problems that I'd need to pay James to come fix. I took a video of what I was seeing in my equipment and emailed it to Blue Dot. James called me on Saturday mornning and explained what I was doing wrong (I'm sure he told me about it in my private pool school and I forgot) but he was the consumate teacher and described how to fix it and why it needed to be set a specific way. My pool looks amazing! And I think for the first time sense the pool has been put in the filter is running properly and my pool is crystal clear! When they first came out to give me a quote they took the time to really check the water to make sure it was good to go! This is the absolute worst company I have ever worked with. We gave them the benefit of the doubt when they remodeled our pool. The owner blamed me for not brushing it wrong. He had me in tears many times as my husband was working out of town. The never showed up when they were suppose to. I finally fir d them and wasn't going to write a review but now mynpool is still jacked up and all,the heads they replaced are blowing up and you can't get in my pool without it hurting your hands and feet because the finish is so rough. It's sad, so sad that we have this company many chances and are still,paying for it. We are going to have to have it totally redone...again. read more

Deck remodel: Over all quality was very good. The crew, led by Freddie, was a pleasure to deal with. The communication from James the owner was poor, that is the only reason that I won't give a 5 star rating. I awarded the bid to James, faxed my contract to his office and gave 50% down with them over the phone. After 5 days I still hadn't heard anything. I called the office to see if they had a start date. They replied that James would have to handle that. I texted him and asked for a start date. He replied the same day stating that he had a few decks in front of me and had to see how far the crews had gotten and would get back to me as soon as possible. 7 days later I finally hear from him. He asks if they can start the next day. I replied absolutely. 2 days later, still no crew. The next day he replied that there had been a mix up and they would be out the next day, and they were. The crew was very friendly, clean and did fantastic work. 2 weeks later I found a couple spots where the paint didn't stick after a rain. I text James back and a crew had the trouble spot repainted with in 2 days and that time it stuck. read more

The worst service I have ever had. My pool started turning green so I called Blue Dot for help, they were very nice over the phone but once the tech came out things went from bad to worse. After throwing in some chlorine and a quick brush he said he would be back in 2 days. After a no show he rolls in 6 days later and does it all over again. My pool now looks like a swamp and then he turns to me and says "you are just always going to have a green looking pool but I will be back in a couple days." WHAT? Another no show so 3 days later I cancel my service. Would never recommend this company and have since found a great pool service now and the pool looks amazing and not green. read more

Blue Dot Pools has been our pool service for a couple years. They do a wonderful job keeping our pool sparking clean and let us know when there is something that needs repair or special attention. Since we have three big Labradors who would swim 24/7 if given the chance, we requested the service guy to give us a quick call to let us know he's on his way. That way we can corral the dogs to keep them out of his way. They have always provided excellent customer service. We changed pool service companies because we weren't happy with the price or the service we were getting for that price. We are very happy with the price, service and great customer service we receive from Blue Dot Pools! Two thumbs way up!!! We were in the process of selling our house and had a lot of problems with our pool (leak under the deck, deteriorating plaster, old pool light, and an old sand filter on its last leg). We called around to a bunch of pool companies and decided to go with James and Blue Dot Pools. Throughout the entire process they were professional, on time, and explained the entire process. The work that was done looks fantastic, and it came at a very reasonable price. After a month, we were under contract with our house (thanks to a brand new pool), and a few minor things needed to be done to pass inspection. Even though Blue Dot Pools did not do work on what came up in the inspection they sent Patrick out to fix it at no charge so our sale could go through. Do not call this company! I'm a Realtor and asked for a quote on a pool crack repair for my client this past Friday and they said "sure no problem". So I proceeded to send them pictures of the issues we wanted a bid on and they said they would contact me to set it up. Several days passed and no one had called to arrange it. When I followed up the following Monday the admin girl said she had given the info to the owner, but would follow up with him again to make sure he contacted me. I let her know we were in a rush and asked if he could meet us at the home on Tuesday morning. Tuesday rolled around and no surprise I still hadn't been contacted. So again I followed up to see if they were going to show Tuesday or at least just call me back. The girl (not the owner) called back and said sorry about not contacting me back, but they are going to be booked up until later next week! It would have been nice to have been told this at the outset and not 5 days later! What a waste of time with these guys. Save your time and energy and look elsewhere for a more attentive company that cares about new business. read more
