Blue Curl: Good Weekly Service, Poor Management I hired Blue Curl because I wanted a company that could do more than clean a pool. I expected competent technical advice, professional communication, and accountability when problems arose. Unfortunately, that's not what I experienced. Blue Curl recommended and installed an inline chlorine feeder at my home. Less than a year later, the system stopped performing as intended. I expected a technical evaluation supported by facts. Instead, I spent nearly three months trying to get straightforward answers. I repeatedly asked simple questions: What failed? What evidence supports that conclusion? Why is replacement the appropriate solution? Did the failure contribute to increased chemical usage? Those questions were never answered in a clear, consistent, management-led manner. Instead, I received conflicting explanations, unanswered emails, and a replacement quote that wasn't supported by a documented failure analysis. One employee called to discuss the repair but admitted he hadn't reviewed Blue Curl's previous diagnosis or its own replacement quote before contacting me. During that same conversation, he proposed an open-ended change order for possible plumbing modifications without being able to explain what additional work might be required, why it would be necessary, or what the final cost could be. I wasn't willing to authorize undefined work with undefined cost before the underlying problem had even been established. To be clear, this review is not about the weekly service technician. He has consistently been professional, honest, and technically competent. My concerns are with Blue Curl's management and how the company handles technical and billing issues once they become more complicated than routine weekly service. What disappointed me most wasn't the equipment failure. Equipment fails. It was the absence of ownership. No one took responsibility for providing a complete technical explanation, coordinating communication, or standing behind the company's own recommendations. Trust is earned when a company can explain what failed, why it failed, and why its proposed solution is the right one. After months of asking those questions, I never received those answers. I ultimately decided to terminate Blue Curl and move my business elsewhere. If you're looking for routine pool cleaning, your experience may be different. But if you expect disciplined troubleshooting, clear communication, coherant billing, and management accountability when something goes wrong, my experience suggests you should carefully consider your options before hiring this company. read more

Had services with this company for years. Service was ok some weeks were skipped and billed for anyway. When we put a camera up (mostly to keep track of the lawn as it is vacation property) the company immediately canceled services with no heads up. There was small "service cancelation" in fine print on one of the invoices which we did not notice as it just looked like standard invoice. The house is in a rural area so it was next to impossible to find someone else to immediately replace services . Ultimately resulting in a green pool when our family came up for Fourth of July no one was able to swim. We reached out to the company several times to ask why the services were canceled. Owner and staff did not want to talk to us or explain why the services were canceled (which was super unprofessional) only person I was able to get through to was the Receptionist who said it was "too far" which didn't make sense because people 5 mins down the road still get services by the same company. I spent over a week and half trying to get in touch with the owner of the company only to have my calls forwarded and ignored. Also, The initial price I was quoted for the service did not reflect the invoice which was quite a bit higher so I had to call and have them reluctantly adjust the price to what I was quoted In addition they would scoop out leaves and pine needles and leave them on my lawn right next to the oool this was an issue not only for us but lawn guy who would complain about it as it would leave yellow patches on the grass from the pool chemical. UPDATE: After we decided to part ways from Blue Curl, we tried a few other companies - and each were horrible. One ended up causing our pool to have almost 2x the max amount of chlorine it was supposed to. We could not swim in the pool because it was so hard on our skin. Another Company said that they could keep up with our new Pentair equipment and they could not. We never had any of these problems with Blue Curl. RE the cost of services - it is true - you get what you pay for. Given Ryan's expertise we have moved back to Blue Curl. We are now working only with Ryan and are very happy. If you have new Pentair equipment, want actual pool expertise, or want to support owners that are amazing human beings - Blue Curl is your best option. read more

I give this company ZERO stars because this is the worst pool company I have ever dealt with. Our pool went from a beautiful crystal blue sparkling clean to a dirty green pond almost immediately after BLUE CURL took over our account. We've met with the owner several times, we even upped our monthly payment so we "NEVER HAD TO TOUCH OUR POOL AGAIN.". The employee they had never once got our pool clean, he would take a picture of the top of the pool for his boss, and not show the debris and dead worms at the bottom. after over 35 years of pool service this one was by far the worst ever. Our pool has been serviced by blue Curl for over a year now. Ryan the owner was very responsive in the beginning of our service. Then the rains came and the pool was "forever dirty"!!! Promises to get it cleaned up that never full happened. For the last 6 weeks our waterfall and pool cleaner have not been working. A simple pool float fixed the cleaner but the filters were so dirty that the waterfall and pool cleaner were not functioning. I now have algae under our waterfalls and in the beach entry??? We had this service by default as the old owner moved away. Fortunately we did not have them for more than a year. We hired back the person that took care of our pool for years this week! He said that our pool was not cared for properly. It had not been backwashed for months. It looked like mud coming out! There was a massive amount of algae growing all over the brand new Baja shelf and all around the tile. The chemical were all upside down. I would not recommend this company at all. read more

It was the first time my mother had ever used a service and was very leery of moving to a paid service. We have had a phenomenal experience. The service comes on time, right on schedule, and has helped with any problems that arrive. Pools are hard, and problems happen all the time. I feel like Ryan provides us with white glove service and is extremely honest. He recently resolved a problem where he could have easily been dishonest and over charged us, instead Ryan came and found the real issue and gave us a very fair bill. After thousands of dollars spent on filters, a new pump and weekly maintenance on our pool with this company, we still can't swim. That was money spent AFTER paying for year round maintenance. It's heartbreaking to pay for something all year in good faith, then get hammered for thousands upon thousands of dollars and still not be able to swim at the end of August. The humiliation with our wedding guests unable to swim was enough. I took my own pictures for them to see but nothing was addressed other then asking for my credit card number. Thousands of dollars spent! Countless calls made letting them know this special time for our family and this wedding. We paid for year round service for absolutely nothing. I wouldn't have thought to do a negative report on any business or company in my life until now. It's horrible to feel this way! I haven't mentioned the spa we never could ever used which was serviced or the fact they confused our account with someone else while invoicing the spa not the pool which left me calling the office confused myself! I do not recommend to use this person. He did not dissolve the concentrated chemicals and placed in the vinyl pool. Our new vinyl liner was damaged. He promised to replaced it at first, but then he backed out. Very irresponsible and unprofessional. We wanted to complain with the contractors board but could not find his contractors license with the contractor's board. Now we have to go through the judicial system.
