Run from this company. This company is full of liars who make promises that they do not keep and…read morelive up to. Very poor quality. They even knowingly left a hole in our pool!!! We had a continuous swim current placed along with our pool from Sierra Fiberglass Pools. The 'current' only lasts for at most 1 minute and 20 seconds - Not continuous as it is supposed to be. This started immediately at install. Matt is and has been completely aware. Yet, we were made to pay in full for this system and installation prior to it even being ordered. That actually is not legal. Then, Matt tried to put it off as a "warranty" issue. It has never worked properly. The buttons controlling it have also never worked. Matt tried to claim they worked, but I got in with a wetsuit to show that the buttons nor the current work. Matt has the buttons, yet, that won't fix the problem with the current. In addition, water is leaking from around the current and it was disclosed to us that there is a hole in our pool. Matt knew about all of these issues and chose to complete our pool instead of fixing it. When I wanted it completed, he threatened that, "I would not have a pool all summer long," if I wanted it fixed. When I asked Matt how he got our pool to pass inspection with the issues, Matt stated, "The inspectors don't have to know about that." Lateer, Matt claimed that, "some water can be around the pool and it will still get approved." Matt also left the swim system full of trash which is under water and completely exposes swimmers to whatever that trash is. I also had to continuously pick up garbage and hazardous stuff as we have a small child. While doing that, I found supports that were sealed in a package that said, "Warranty void if not used." - Nope, they were not used. This was after they put off our pool for months while they installed other pools. In addition, We had to fight with Matt, Jon, and Diane to have our concrete finished as agreed upon. They did not put it in our contract. I sent an email prior to signing the contract to be sure that the concrete would be completed. They agreed, yet, later when we asked when that was going to be completed, they stated that they did not agree to do the concrete as we spoke about and agreed to. The quality of the pool on top off all of the other issues is very poor. There is a plastic piece under the conrete that sticks out and has cut our guests. All of the caps around the lights in our pool have fallen off and cut our guests and children. The 'free' gate reversal failed. Our gate no longer works. In the end they took us to court as we withheld money because of the problems. They won as we paid up front for the swim current and withheld from a different "line item" on the contract. The other issues weren't even considered. Now, we are going to be taking other action. I like most people don't agree with paying contractors before they complete work. I hope this review loses you more money than the money you basically feel you can take from us without completing the work...or fixing the hole. Like I said - Run from this company. Unfortunately, Jan or Jon/Diane/Matt (there is no Jan at their company) your response sound as unprofessional and deceptive as you have been the whole time. It's Like all of the rambling emails yelling at us when we brought up issues escpecially agreed upon issues that you did not want to complete. I'll be happy to also post the court documents showing that you guys left a hole in our pool (yes, in our pool), etc. We are going through the Contractors Licensing Board, which is how we found out a lot of our information. We will be taking action. I hope you guys start to realize you actually have to follow the law, cannot do shoddy work, and cannot leave holes in pools. I was threatened that I would not have a pool all summer if Matt had to put the Badujet in and actually make it work. Also, he refused to fix the hole in the pool until after summer as well. The work on the pool started in August, yet, again, Sierra Fiberglass Pools went and did other pools instead of completing ours. The Badujet was here, I believe in October. Why wasn't our pool completed by June? 9 Months and you couldn't complete it? Again, the Badujet has never worked and you asked for payment illegally prior to ordering and installing. Therefore, we could not withhold money from that line item because it was paid in full. Yes, $14,000 paid upfront ahead of time. The remainder withheld was aroud $5,000 after finding out about the hole in our pool and Matt refusing to make the Badujet work properly. It's funny how Sierra Fiberglass Pools loves to lie their way through things. I am also uploading documents stating that they left a hole in the pool. Also, there is no defimation. You collected money upfront for installation of a working system that you put a hole in the pool for and "completed" the pool with the hole still there. Also, the talk of the 'landscapers' is funny. The project started on time and finished right around when Joe estimated it would, and he even handled us changing a few details last minute like a true Pro. And of course what everyone wants to know... how much did it cost? Sundance is priced SO much better than the other quotes we got. Premier and Swan both gave us quotes that were insanely over the price we paid Sundance, and since the quality we got was great... I would highly recommend this company.

When the person running the office is the girlfriend of the owner and has no idea what she is doing and customer service skills that are nil it leads to a very bad experience. You give a massive amount of money to a contractor and then have the girlfriend/secretary completely ignore your attempts at communication and then tell you every time you have a question "you need to be patient; I'm ignoring you because I have nothing to say." Really? Say we're waiting to hear back or at least something, I'm your customer. Would you like to have no idea who is going to show up to your house and when, would you like to have to send your finish choices repeatedly? Would you like to be given brochures from NPT, go to an NPT showroom and pick out your pebble then be told when it's time for pebble that the pebble guy doesn't use NPT? How about being told that they have their own crew that does everything, so you won't have to wait for subs and that be false? Would you like florescent blue waterline tile to be about to be installed and you happen to see it and let them know that you picked a neutral grey (which you have texted literal pictures of multiple times) then be delayed because that neutral grey you picked out 3 months before is out of stock? How about trash left all over your backyard and stone on half of a waterfall structure and not the other half and piles of dirt all over your yard along with a ton of uncapped broken sprinkler lines? How about having a contract that states stamped concrete decking and the owner yelling in your face that you'll get what he gives you (unstamped) and that the pool is his and not yours? Finally, if you dare to question anything, in my case an area of concrete that is still wider than the rest of the deck, be prepared for the owner Joe to throw an absolute tantrum because he "Doesn't need to be told how to do his job" and in my case respond with an act of violence by kicking the wood form for the concrete and shattering it everywhere. My four-year-old daughter asked me after, "Mommy was that big man going to hurt you?" Several months later she still asks me if he is ever coming back, and I have to assure her that he isn't so she isn't scared. That alone is reason to never hire this company, absolutely disgusting behavior and a finished product that falls short in so many areas - crumbling concrete, missing grout on the accent tile, cracks in the waterfall mortar, bubbles and cracks in the pebble, a broken irrigation pipe that was literally concreted around instead of disposed of, Wi-Fi module that doesn't work, etc. To have to deal with these people that in my opinion clearly have no integrity or work ethic for many months and on top of that feel absolutely violated the entire time at my own home, with a contract that gives them most of the money up front - so you are stuck - was an absolute nightmare. 10/10 do not recommend.

This was our first pool, so we wanted to make sure we selected someone who is a good pool designer…read moreand builder. We spent many hours researching and carefully reviewed all the pool builders in our area. Many of the local pool companies had mixed reviews, even the pool company recommended by our builder had very mixed reviews. When I researched Jim Chandler Pools, all his reviews were all good, I even checked several different websites and those had good reviews too. Because of this we decided to give him a call to discuss our pool project and from the moment I spoke with Jim, I knew we had the right guy. He was easy to talk with and listened to what we were looking for in a pool, he gave us lots of ideas and options to think about before our first meeting. Jim went to our new home site to review the lot/backyard to ensure what we had discussed was going to work in our new backyard. Once we met in person to review the plans, he made recommendations in order to try to keep us in budget or as close to it as possible. When I called Jim's references, everyone I spoke with highly recommended him, they enjoyed working with him, said he was very professional, kept them up to date with the progress, and completed the project on time and in budget. During Jim's first meeting with the City's Planning department, he found out we had very expansive soil which is a problem when installing pools. Jim explained the extra costs when building a pool with expansive soil, it creates a lot of extra work during construction as well as a lot of extra cost to reinforce the pool and pool deck. To help cover the extra costs, Jim recommended some changes to our design in order to save money to help cover the unexpected costs as we did not budget for this type of problem. We were still over budget but some of it was the expansive soil and the rest were my fault . Jim would be on site for each step to ensure everything was done to his expectations. All the contractors Jim uses do great work, they are on time, very professional, and cleaned up after they completed their work. After working with Jim, I now know why the references I called spoke so highly him, he is a great contractor, stays on top of every detail, works closely with you during the whole process from start to end. We just finished our pool, took longer because of soil issues and Covid but we made it. We are very happy with our new pool; and look forward too many years of enjoying the pool. We are very happy we choose Jim Chandler Pools; he really enjoys his job and it shows with the completed product. I am sure there are cheaper pool builders out there, but if you want it done right then I highly recommend Jim Chandler Pools.

UPDATE: It's been three years now. We have had two issues with our pool. First, a lot of…read morehorizontal trim tile came off on the spa area where it connects with the pool. We had two separate repairs made on it, and it has held since the last repair which was last summer. Apparently some water got under the tile and continued to move through them, pushing them up. The tile work was warranted for three years, so there was no charge to us. The other issue is really a matter of design. The spa was designed at the same level as the pool, with water that communicates between the two. In the summer or when there is not rain, the system works fine, and the hot tub will be hot within about 30-60 minutes, depending on the outside temperature with almost no pool water coming in and cooling it off. However, as soon as the pool water level rises much at all (after just a couple of rains), the hot tub takes much longer to heat. At about $20/hour to heat it and more than an hour, it is not worth it to us. We checked with Jim about raising the level of the spa, and he checked with the builders and it is not recommended. We are very disappointed because the only solution is to spend hours draining the pool down to a normal water level. We had normal rains last year, and more than normal this year, but after five years of drought, it seems wasteful and we know that the autofill will just end up kicking on again when the temperatures warm up. So our choice is to not use the spa all winter or to discard all the extra water at a time when our water infrastructure is at a maximum level in the area. If we were doing another pool/spa combination we would DEFINITELY have the spa elevated to avoid this design issue.
